How do we connect to a remote database from a Java Stored Procedure?

We have a situation where we are not able to use a PSP (PL/SQL server page) to update a remote database using database link in an Oracle8i database. This is a known bug on 8i and is fixed in 9i. Can this be done using PSP calling a Java stored procedure, which in turn connects to the remote database and performs the update. If so, how we do remote connectivity to another database from the current java stored procedure.

  • Connecting to a non-oracle database (jdbc) from a java stored procedure

    Does anyone know to configure the database to allow a connection to a non-oracle database from a Java Stored procedured, using JDBC?
    Thank you in advance,
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
    I haven't tried it, and these are just some of my thoughts, but I
    think you would need to load the JDBC driver for the other database
    into the Oracle database (using the "loadjava" tool, of-course).
    Then your java stored procedure should be able to instantiate the
    third party JDBC driver and obtain a connection to the other database.
    Hope this helps.
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

  • Connecting to SQL Server and MYSQL from a Java stored procedure

    hope someone can help with this. i'm trying to connect to different databases (My SQL, SQL Server) from a java stored procedure. when invoking from within an oracle 9i database, i get the java exception error -
    "Cannot connect to MySQL server on 135.177.196.75:3306. Is there a MySQL server running on the machine/port you are trying to connect to?java.security.AccessControlException)".
    this store procedure works fine when invoked from outside of oracle. any replies would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

    the correct drivers have been loaded. it works when called from outside of oracle. only when invoking from within oracle do we get the error message "Cannot connect to MySQL server on 135.177.196.75:3306. Is there a MySQL server running on the machine/port you are trying to connect to?(java.security.AccessControlException)". it sounds like a permissions/security/configuration issue - oracle is not allowing access to the machine/port for the MySQL or SQL Server database. appreciate the responses so far.

  • SSL Connection from a Java Stored Procedure

    Hello.
    I have a Java stored procedure for sending emails, using the JavaMail API. I need to use gmails as the SMTP server. Google requires that emails sent from their servers must be sent through SSL and must be authenticated.
    I'm having trouble in achieving this. Monitoring all traffic sent from the oracle database server, I've noticed that there is a successful connection to google, and a few seconds later the host (where the oracle databse is at), sends a packet telling google to finish the transaction.
    I'm wondering if there is any configuration on this issue that needs to be done, or if it is a known Oracle limitation.
    I'm using oracle 10.2.0.1.0
    Thanks a lot.
    Sincerely,
    John.

  • How do I connect to a Sybase database from Crystal?

    I have never tried to connect to Sybase data before and I am having difficulty figuring out how.  I am using CR XIR2 from my desktop and trying to connect to what I am told is a Sybase database (voicemail system).  I believe Sybase vers 12.5, but not entirely sure yet.  Postings on the forum and other sites appear to be directed toward sdk developers or other development and were not helpful.  Most of what I am reading points toward an Adaptive Server® Enterprise (ASE) ODBC Driver by Sybase.  However, I was told that was not true but the person promising to forward the information never came through. Are there additional drivers I need to install or can someone point me in the right direction?  Thanks!

    Hi Wendy,
    32-bit NATIVE DRIVERS
    CRDB_P2SSYB10.DLL is the native driver for Sybase ASE.  It is used with Sybase ASE 12.5
    NOTE:  The native driver for Sybase ASE cannot be used to connect to Sybase ASA (Adaptive Server Anywhere) or Sybase ASIQ (Adaptive Server IQ).  Sybase ASA and Sybase ASIQ include their own ODBC drivers as part of their installation package.  These drivers provide the only means of connecting to Sybase ASA and Sybase ASIQ databases.
    I hope this helps you.

    Hi,
    I use to access Oracle Databse in Windows machine by creating DSN using ODBC and the following piece of code
    import java.io.*;

                        try
                        con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:odbc:AJProject","seplc30","happy");
                        catch(Exception se)
                             System.out.println("Error here connection:" + se);
    Now I have to port the same in Solaris 5.9 platform .Please help me ut by providing the details step to do the same.
    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi,
    It's easier and better to switch to the thin driver instead of using the jdbc-odbc bridge. The thin driver is written in pure java.

  • How can I implement the connection pool in my java stored procedure

    my java stored procedures (in database 'B') have to connect to another oracle database ,let's say 'A'. And how can I implement the behavior like the so-called connection pool in my java stored procedure in 'B', as below.
    1. database B, has 2 java stored procedures sp1 and sp2
    2. both sp1 and sp2 connects to databse 'A'
    whatever I call the sp1 and sp2 and the database 'A' always only one connected session from sp1 and sp2 in database 'B'.
    THANKS A LOTS...

    my problem is I have a lots of java stored procedures need to cnnect to the remote oracle db, and I hope the remote db can only have a connected session from my java stored procedures in my local db. I try as below
    class sp{
    static Connection conn=null; //the remote db connection,
    public static void sp1(){...}//procedure 1, using conn
    public static void sp2(){...}//procedure 2, using conn,too
    I can 'see' the 'conn' variable if I invoke the sp1() and sp2() from the same client application(maybe sqlplus). But if I invoke the sp1() from client 'A' and invoke sp2() from client 'B' then the sp1() and sp2() can not see the 'conn' variable for each other. I think it's because the two clients cause oracle to create two instances of the class 'sp' and the sp1() and sp2() located in different instance seperately. Thus the sp1() and sp2() can not see 'conn' for each other. They can only see its own 'conn'.
    To connect to the remote db from the java stored procedure is easy but is it possible to connect to the remote db via database link from the java stored procedure at my local db ? If so, then I also archive my goal .
    BTW , thanks a lots...
    andrew :-)

I need to connect to a remote msaccess database in a lan and import its data into my mysql database.I know how to connect to a msaccess database using ODBC.But I don't know how to connect to a remote database without creating dsn in the machine where database is.One thing more...I want to know, how can I import data into my mysql database?? Is there any query for that or simply I have to select data from msaccess database and insert into tables of my database??Please, send me the source code in the forum itself and explain also.This is the last feature of my project.So I need to do it as soon as possible.

    If the mdb file in LAN, Just map the network drive.[Windows Explorer/Tools/Map Network Drive] in your system from which we need to access the remote mdb. Then go to ODBC Data Source Admin.. and create a new data source[Microsoft Access Driver] . After clicking the Select button, you will find a Network Drive will be visible on your Drives drop down. Select the map Drive, If not visible then just click the Network button there and map the network path where the mdb files reside. And use the JdbdOdbcDriver class to connect from java.

    What could be the reason? Is there any other app server datasource related setting that needs to be done or is it some other issue - as I said 'testing the connection from EM console connects successfully'.
    Thanks,
    Rommel.

    The issue is resolved now.
    One of the queries used a db link that was missing on the new database and therefore the error from the java code.
    Since testing for connectivity using DS through EM console does not check for any db link (using the default query it executes) connectivity was successful.
    Thank a lot,
    Rommel.
