How do you connect ipad 2 to itunes library using home sharing

How do you connect the ipad 2 to the itunes library using home sharing so you can listen on your ipad 2? I've seen directions for the ipad which tell you how to setup home sharing then open ipod and touch library in the left column, but when I hit library, nothing happens. I'm assuming the ipad 2 has something different about it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
PS, the OS is 4.3.3 (just got it but it's not on the os list)

  • Is there anyway to sync videos shot from an iPad to an iTunes library using home sharing instantly?

Hey everyone. So at work we are trying to figure out another way to shoot speeches and have them available for the customer to review instantly. We were thinking about using Home Sharing to do this, to sync these videos to an iTunes library. However, it seems to only work the other way around, from iTunes to the iPad. The problem is is that when you take videos or pictures with your iPad they go immediately to your camera roll. Is there any way to sync videos you have taken with the iPad to iTunes using Home Sharing? Thanks!

Not sure about the Home Sharing method.

  • How can I transfer my whole iTunes library using home sharing? At the moment it is only sharing a few songs from each album.

How do I transfer my entire iTunes library from my old laptop to my new one? At the moment using Home Sharing only transfers a few songs from each album. Is there another way I can transfer from one laptop to another?

  • How long does it take to import a library using home sharing?

I have about 82GB of music on an older iMac and want to import it permanently into the iTunes on a newer iMac but have never done this before.
Before I start, I'd like to know if I'm going to be tying up my computers for a week!
Should I go for the whole 4,000-plus songs at once, or should I try to plod through playlist by playlist and tell it each time not to import songs that may already be in the new computer.  (If I do that, will the song show up in the playlists anyway?)
How have other users approached this with large libraries and what has their experience been like?  I'm so glad there's a community here to share their experiences and help other Apple owners!
Thanks so much for any and all responses!

To transfer your songs, don't use Home Sharing. It uses your network to transfer the songs, and it will be so slow (days or weeks to transfer 82 GB).
Instead, you can copy the whole iTunes library to an external disk and transfer it to your new iMac > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1751 This is much faster and useful, because you will transfer all your iTunes data from your old Mac, not only songs

  • Moving iTunes library using Home Sharing

I am attempting to transfer my iTunes library from my desktop PC to a new laptop using Home Sharing.  Do the iTunes folder locations have to match in each computer for Home Sharing?  My old PC has C:\ and D:\ partitions whereas my new laptop has only a C: drive.

No Itunes on each machine will have defined its folder path. To see what it is go to Preferences, Advanced and check the path setting

  • Can you add items to your iPad from your iTunes library through home sharing?

Sorry I'm a novice to this.
Say I have a video in my iTunes library and I would like to add it to my iPad so I can watch it when I'm not at home without hooking the iPad up to my PC and syncing.
Can I do this through home sharing?
    Thanks

Sorry, I miss-typed in my previous post. I meant to say you can't use homesharing to transfer content. (dictation got it wrong, but I should have checked). In order to transfer content from your iTunes library to your iPad, you would need to connect it to your computer via USB or Wi-Fi if you have Wi-Fi syncing enabled.
To enable Wi-Fi syncing you must first connect your iPad to your computer with the USB cable and then turn Wi-Fi syncing on in the settings within iTunes.

  • Is there any way to hide certain artists/albums in my iTunes library from Home Sharing?

Is there any way I can hide some of my music from other people, like my sister, while they are accessing my iTunes library with Home Sharing?
I have a few personal recordings that I don't want anyone but me to have access to.
Is deleting them from my library the only option?

It's not an ideal solution ... but have you considered creating a second library (called, say, "Private Library") containing just the personal recordings?
To create the private library, hold down the shift key while launching iTunes. Click "Create Library" in the dialog that comes up.
Once you've created and opened the "Private library", don't activate home sharing for it. Now go "Edit > Preferences". In the "Advanced" tab, select "Copy files to iTunes media folder when adding to library", as per the following screenshot:
    ... and click OK.
Now add the personal recordings to the Private Library.
To get back to your original library, quit iTunes. Hold down the Shift key while launching iTunes ... but this time click the "Choose library" button. Browse to the iTunes library file for your original library and doubleclick that. You should now be seeing your original library.
Delete the personal items from your original library.
Now, in order to see those recordings in iTunes, all you have to do is do a "Choose library" when launching iTunes, and open Private library. Because Home sharing isn't activated for Private library, your sister won't be able to access those recordings. (She won't be able to access your original library either, though, when you have Private library running.)

How do you connect a canon wireless printer up to a iPad 2nd generation?

Read this to see if your printer model supports Airprint: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
If your printer is not Airprint capable you may need an App to print, for example PrintCentral, etc.

  • Can you connect apple tv3 to itunes library without an internet connection?

I have an Apple TV3 and i am trying to connect it to my iTunes library on my computer. I have setup an access wireless point. Its a TP-Link TD-W8958. I dont have an internet connection on this wireless network becuase I am not living in my own house at this time and dont have a phone line however the guy at the Apple dealer store said i should still be able to connect my computer to the Apple TV3.
When i go to Computer on the Apple TV it says turn on Home Sharing and asks for my Apple ID. It says it cannot connect to the store which makes sense becuase of no internet connection but surely there must be a way to still turn on home sharing and connect with my computer.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks
    Mel

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Homesharing needs to check home now and again to verify your account. Unfortunately you will need the Internet in order to be able to use your Apple TV in that way.

  • Can you have more than one iTunes account with home sharing, Can you have more than one iTunes account with home sharing

Can you have more than one itunes account at one time with apple tv

My understanding is that the home sharing is based off of being on the same Wifi.  So if someone brings their laptop to your house and connects to your Wifi and they have home sharing on they can connect so you can see his/her iTunes library on your iTunes.
I haven't tried this though.  We have two laptops at home, both using my iTunes account and I can see each other's iTunes library, which I'm guessing is what you're probably doing now.  I'd be interested to know if my thought above is true.

  • HT1918 how do you know what computers are authorized to use home share before i delete a computer

how do you know what computers are authorzed to use an I tune account?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
There is no way to view a list of authorised computers. You can only tell a computer is authorised from that computer itself, from the store menu in iTunes.

  • I have transferred itunes and library using home sharing.  How do I 'turn off' the old computer and just use the new one?  home sharing requires both to be on at the moment.

I have transferred my itunes content and playlists to a new computer using home sharing.  Now I want to use my new computer only, so need to 'turn off' the old one.   What do i do?

    Hello shiv99,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you have used Home Sharing to play the music from one computer on another, but now you would like to only use the new computer. It sounds as though you have set up the content to share between computers, but have not actually I’m ported the media from the old computer to the new one. I would suggest following the troubleshooting steps located in the attached article to import you music from the old computer to the new one. After that process is complete, you can turn off Home Sharing if you would like and the content will be in the iTunes library on your new computer.

  • ITunes 9 - Using 'Home Sharing' between Windows and Mac libraries

I have my main iTunes music library stored on my Windows 7 PC. It is currently around 200Gb in size, so pretty large.
I want to be able to use 'Home Sharing' in iTunes 9 to access this library on my Macbook over my home wireless network.
I don't, however, want to copy the music files themselves over to this laptop, but simply access the library over the network, and play them via either iTunes 9 or Front Row.
I would appear that the Windows and Mac 'iTunes Library' xml files are incompatible. I can't 'Alias' the Windows library on the MacBook for this reason. Does 'Home Sharing' eliminate this problem? Is there a way of accessing the library on the Windows PC without copying all of the files over to the MacBook?
I want to maintain a single library (which is often changing with new podcasts etc), rather than 2 libraries which I have to keep in sync.
Does anybody have any ideas on this one? I'm sure I am not alone in having this problem.
    Here's hoping...:)

  • Question On Transfer iTunes Library Via Home Sharing

Hi everyone, so basically the situation I'm in is I got a new PC laptop to replace my Macbook Pro and I want to be able to sync my iphone, ipod and ipad with the new library on the PC.  I've already gone through transfering my entire library with all my music and apps etc using home sharing.  My question is would I be able to connect my ios devices now and without a problem sync it with my PC?  I'm afraid if I do connect it I will lose my contacts and pictures on my iphone.

You can use these instructions to move the music to a new computer.
