I have iphone5 and now been given Nokia lumia 520 for work. How can I ensure that my calendars all sync in real time between each phone? Many thanks for any advice
Well if you got the Phone Pggray43 at a Local Corporate store in your Area) you should be able to return it as long as you have all the contents.! Phone, Charger and any other accessories that came with it the Box of Course.. As long as you have not went past the 14 Day return.. the store can go over what you used as in Air Time and Data..
Now if you've went past the 14 Day return you be Liable to pay a E.T.F = Early Termination Fee the fee for this is around $300 so hopefully you have not went past the 14 Day return window the Manager if Available is the one I would talk to tell them your on Social Security and you just can't afford a phone as this I'm sure they'll work with you to get something solved..
Hope ya have Good Luck.! b33 -
I was encouraged to purchase antivirus protection NORTON 360 for my MacBook pro. However when I went to install it it says NORTON 360 doesn't support installation of 10.6.8 but i have to upgrade to 10.7.
Is this really necessary, can you tell me what are the benefits. Does it cost to upgrade?
I'm thinking I will take the Norton back and demand a refund for misleading me. It doesn't qualify this on the box either.
I'd appreciate any advice with thanks...Installing Norton / Symantec products on a Mac will result in nothing but misery while conveying no benefit whatsoever. Return it to whomever it was that encouraged you to waste your time and money on it.
There will always be threats to your information security associated with using any Internet - connected communications tool:
You can mitigate those threats by following commonsense practices
Delegating that responsibility to software is an ineffective defense
Assuming that any product will protect you from those threats is a hazardous attitude that is likely to result in neglecting point #1 above.
OS X already includes everything it needs to protect itself from viruses and malware. Keep it that way with software updates from Apple.
A much better question is "how should I protect my Mac":
Never install any product that claims to "clean up", "speed up", "optimize", "boost" or "accelerate" your Mac; to "wash" it, "tune" it, or to make it "shiny". Those claims are absurd.Such products are very aggressively marketed. They are all scams.
Never install pirated or "cracked" software, software obtained from dubious websites, or other questionable sources.
Illegally obtained software is almost certain to contain malware.
"Questionable sources" include but are not limited to spontaneously appearing web pages or popups, download hosting sites such as C net dot com, Softonic dot com, Soft pedia dot com, Download dot com, Mac Update dot com, or any other site whose revenue is primarily derived from junk product advertisements
If you need to install software that isn't available from the Mac App Store, obtain it only from legitimate sources authorized by the software's developer.
Don’t supply your password in response to a popup window requesting it, unless you know what it is and the reason your credentials are required.
Don’t open email attachments from email addresses that you do not recognize, or click links contained in an email:
Most of these are scams that direct you to fraudulent sites that attempt to convince you to disclose personal information.
Such "phishing" attempts are the 21st century equivalent of a social exploit that has existed since the dawn of civilization. Don’t fall for it.
Apple will never ask you to reveal personal information in an email. If you receive an unexpected email from Apple saying your account will be closed unless you take immediate action, just ignore it. If your iCloud, iTunes, or App Store account becomes disabled for valid reasons, you will know when you try to buy something or log in to this support site, and are unable to.
Don’t install browser extensions unless you understand their purpose. Go to the Safari menu > Preferences > Extensions. If you see any extensions that you do not recognize or understand, simply click the Uninstall button and they will be gone.
Don’t install Java unless you are certain that you need it:
Java, a non-Apple product, is a potential vector for malware. If you are required to use Java, be mindful of that possibility.
Java can be disabled in System Preferences.
Despite its name JavaScript is unrelated to Java. No malware can infect your Mac through JavaScript. It’s OK to leave it enabled.
Beware spontaneous popups: Safari menu > Preferences > Security > check "Block popup windows".
Popup windows are useful and required for some websites, but unsolicited popups are commonly used to deceive people into installing unwanted software they would never intentionally install.
Popups themselves cannot infect your Mac, but many contain resource-hungry code that will slow down Internet browsing.
If you ever receive a popup window indicating that your Mac is infected with some ick or that you won some prize, it is 100% fraudulent. Ignore it. The more insistent it is that you upgrade or install something, the more likely it is to be a scam. Close the window or tab and forget it.
Ignore hyperventilating popular media outlets that thrive by promoting fear and discord with entertainment products arrogantly presented as "news". Learn what real threats actually exist and how to arm yourself against them:
The most serious threat to your data security is phishing. Most of these attempts are pathetic and are easily recognized, but that hasn't stopped prominent public figures from recently succumbing to this age-old scam.
OS X viruses do not exist, but intentionally malicious or poorly written code, created by either nefarious or inept individuals, is nothing new.
Never install something without first knowing what it is, what it does, how it works, and how to get rid of it when you don’t want it any more.
If you elect to use "anti-virus" software, familiarize yourself with its limitations and potential to cause adverse effects, and apply the principle immediately preceding this one.
Most such utilities will only slow down and destabilize your Mac while they look for viruses that do not exist, conveying no benefit whatsoever - other than to make you "feel good" about security, when you should actually be exercising sound judgment, derived from accurate knowledge, based on verifiable facts.
Do install updates from Apple as they become available. No one knows more about Macs and how to protect them than the company that builds them.
Summary: Use common sense and caution when you use your Mac, just like you would in any social context. There is no product, utility, or magic talisman that can protect you from all the evils of mankind.
... i have to upgrade to 10.7.
Is this really necessary, can you tell me what are the benefits.
Assuming you are asking about upgrading OS X: no, it's not necessary, but if you want to upgrade you can skip OS X 10.7 and upgrade directly to Mavericks, or Yosemite when it is released. Both are free and preferable to Lion, which would cost money. If and when you decide to do that be sure to back up your system prior to upgrading OS X, as a precaution against the unexpected.
I have heard anecdotal reports that Apple has, or soon will, stop providing security updates to Snow Leopard. I have not confirmed them personally, but Apple generally ceases to support outdated OS X versions after a few years. Snow Leopard was superseded over three years ago. That's no reason to panic but it is something to keep in mind. -

How can I sync my home PC (Windows 7) with my MAC laptop so that changes on either will be updated?
I take my MACBook Pro on the road and I want any changes to be updated on my home PC when I get back home so that both have the same information.
Is there a way to do this?I would like to sync items like Word docs, Excel docs and changes to PDF files as well as mail, file folders, calendars.
I would like any changes that were made on the MacBook while I'm away from home to be mirrored or syced and updated to my PC when I arrive back home.
Likewise, before I leave home again, I would like any changes that I made at homeon my PC to be updated back to my MacBook before I leave again.
Microsoft had a program called "Sync Toy" that performed this task flawlessly when working between two PC's....but now I am working with a MACBook and PC. Is there a similar program that will work between MAC and PC?
Thanks! -
How do you connect an android phone to an imac?
have been trying to connect a Samsung Galaxy Ace to my iMac. Tried Kies (samsung) and also tried Android File Transfer. neither of these would 'recognise' the ACE - even as No-names. Something wrong? Surely it should be possible to link the non-Apple phone to the iMac? I only want to exchange photos!
That would be a question to ask in the Samsung forums, have you tried there? There should be instructions in your manual or on Samsung's site on how to connect a telephone to a computer and download photos.

Download and installation help for Adobe links
Download and installation help for Prodesigntools links are listed on most linked pages. They are critical; especially steps 1, 2 and 3. If you click a link that does not have those steps listed, open a second window using the Lightroom 3 link to see those 'Important Instructions'. -
How to have iMessages show up on one device but not the other?
So I have an iPhone, a MacBook and an iPad that I own and use, this year my school "gave" (we pay for it but it belongs to the school and have to give it back, go private education!) each student an iPad so now i have one from them as well. I use a different Apple ID for my school iPad than I do for my personal devices so that information from my personal devices doesn't end up on the schools iPad which has a massive amount of spyware on it so they can literally see everything we do. I have it set up for iMessage so my 3 personal devices are all synced and use my phone number from my iphone to iMessage, but my school iPad only uses the email from the Apple ID I made specifically for that iPad. I was wondering if there was a way that the iMessages I receive on my school iPad (via the email) can also be received on my other personal devices, but NONE of the messages or other data received on my phone (via my phone number) also be received on the school iPad. So in essence a sort of one way channel. Thanks in advance!
P.S.- I don't just use the messages to text my friends I use it for professional purposes also as I am on the executive board of several charities and also a high ranking member of my fathers company. No, the scenario you describe is not possible. Sorry.

seems self explanatory to me. I don't know what else to say.
You can check if you have the ZoneAlarm search engine file in the browser\searchplugins folder in the Firefox program or in the searchplugins folder in the Firefox profile folder.
You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
You can delete the search.json file and possible search-metadata.json and search.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder to reset the search engines to the default.
Firefox will rebuild the search.json file from the default search engines in the "browser\searchplugins" folder in the Firefox program and the searchplugins folder in the Firefox profile folder. -
When we bought our daughter her iPhone I thought it would be a great idea for her to use my username and password for her App Store. As she is learning to download and search off apps, it appears that this May not hand been a good idea as the apps I have on MY iPhone, are showing as already downloaded and on our cloud. I'd prefer to change the username on her device, but in looking I am noticing that I will probably be deleting the username and password on both of our devices and then I will have to reset for both of us. Am I correct?
If you create an Apple ID for your daughter, signing out of the existing Apple ID with the iTunes & App Store on her iPhone will not change anything on your iPhone.
All apps include DRM protection which is tied to the Apple ID that was used to download the apps.
If she starts using her Apple ID to download apps, when there is an app update for an app on her iPhone that was downloaded with the current shared Apple ID, she will need to use that Apple ID and password to download the app updates. -
I'm new to this and apologize, but I do have a question about downloading CC to my Ibook (after successfully downloading to my Apple desktop. The downloader is stuck at about 10% of completion and repeating from the beginning does not help me. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Roy

How can I sync my android phone calendar with my iPad
How can I sync my android phone with my iPad ?
To move Contacts, calendar data, etc. information from Android to iOS you can use third party Apps on both devices the Apps will move this information to the "Cloud" with one App and back to your other device with another App.
See, for example, PhoneCopy at http://www.phonecopy.com/en/ -
If I choose sync settings for my add-ons, between my Windows XP laptop and android phone, will one device' s add-ons go on the other automatically?
For example, if i add a password manager add-on to my PC, will that same add-on go onto my phone? Or will i have to separately add it again to my phone?
If I do have to add it separately, then what exactly IS the add-on syncing doing?hmmm... i have no idea what the "install.rdf file" of an extension) is? or how to check that?
thanks! -
Can anyone tell me why my photo stream is not loading all 1,000 pictures onto my new iphone 5c? i backed up my old phone onto the mac and plugged in my new phone then hit backup. it only gave me 100 pictures????? why?
thanks for any help!Because photo stream photos only remain in iCloud for 30 days, allowing enough time for your devices to download them. Only shared streams keep photos in iCloud indefinitely. Your other photos are probably older than 30 days and are no longer in iCloud.
Also, photo stream photos aren't included in your backup, only camera roll photos are. If you want to include photo stream photos that are not already in your camera roll in your backup, you have to save them to the camera roll before backing up.
