How does javaw (WinXP) threats System.err and System.out?

Hi, I just faced a problem which is most likely caused by the blocking of System.err.
So I'm interested in the default handling of theses streams by javaw.
I would except that they point to something like "/dev/null" (compared to Unix), but the behavior is different.
I'm sure about this, cause redirecting these streams had fixed my problem.

Is there some way to capture everything that is sent to System.err or System.out and have it instead go to e.g. a method as a String?

System.out.println -> Sends the output to a standard output stream. Generally monitor.
System.err.println -> Sends the output to a standard error stream. Generally monitor.
To find the difference execute the following program and see the output. You will see how those streams can be handled differently.

Firewire does not function after uninstalling macfuse and an out of date version of NTFS32 and then installed latest version of Tuxera NTFS for Mac.

I purchased a 3TB HDD (WD USB 3.0 $100) to replace the 2TB Seagate for a new Time Machine HDD. The 2B was full and backups were deleting older files. The 3TB was formatted NTFS and I want to "recover" the included SW before I reformatted the HDD for the iMac. I discovered that MacFuse was out of date and unsupported and my NTFS-32 was also out of date so I uninstalled both and then installed the most recent version of Tuxera NTFS for Mac. I rebooted and discovered that the FW800 port was unresponsive. Below is the EtreCheck report:

SRM 5 BBPSTART - System ID and System Messages issues

Hi all,
We just upgraded to SRM 5.0 from SRM 3.0
The shopping cart logon page(bbpstart) doesn't show System ID and also the system Messages also doesn't work on browser when we set message by sm02.
I already checked "System ID" and "System messages" from "Select Display" under System Logon Settings from bbpstart>Error Pages>Logon Errors>Configuration>System Logon Settings.
I searched over the net and can't find anything. I only found a notes for the System messages, but it was for the older release and SRM 5 already applied that note. So I don't know what else I can do.

It is not possible to run a system landscape with 2 identical SID's. And even if you do get it running in some kind of freeky way the system would be very instable (how would you know a transport has gone to the right system?).
A system copy and a <SID> change is still possible. However, SAP recommends to do an export and an import of your database. Allthough this is the best and the least confusing way (and labour extensive), it is not really necessary.
If you do a backup/restore procedure with a <SID> change, lets say from PRD to DEV, you will end up with a system that has DEV as <SID> but your tablespaces will look like PSAP-PRD-620. The owner of the database will also be sapprd. This is no problem at all to run the system, it is only confusing.
I know it works, I've got it running. I've also got a sandbox running with user saptsc and database owner cbdamd and <SID> CBD.

Intercepting System.exit() and System.out.println() calls

hi there,
I have often problems when working with code that uses System.exit() and System.out.println() extensively, because it becomes difficult to debug.
Basically I do have wrappers for System.exit() (my own static exit function) and for System.out.println() (log4j).
Still not all programmers are using these methods; Probably the only way to enforce this is some kind of code warrior, but I was hoping to be able to intercept the two System.XXX calls (and throw an appropriate Exception). is this possible ??

Why not simply make your own security manager andhandle checkExit() and checkWrite?
Does anyone have a simple example of this? Please?System.exit() can be intercepted using a security manager, but not System.out.xxx.

There is no way to determine the characteristics of the OutputStream behind System.out or System.err.
You could provide your own streams (via setOut() and/or setErr() methods)...

How does a public/private key encrypt and decrypt each other?

I understand the logic that when a communication takes place both parties pass their public keys to each other which is used to encrypt all messages. Once the party receives the messages the private key is used to decrypt them however I'm wondering how a private key is generated from a public key. If the private key is based on an algorithm wouldn't each party be able to generate what the other person's private key would be based on the public? Wouldn't a third party?

How the public and private keys are generated depends on what public key cryptosystem is being used, but in general the private key cannot be derived from the public with a computationally feasable algorithm, while the public key can be derived from the private key very quickly. Two examples:
RSA: private keys are 2 primes, p and q, and an encryption exponent d. Public key is the product p*q, and an encryption exponent e. How does the attacker get p and q, or d, from n and e? The best attack known against this (for properly chosen p, q, and d) is factoring. Factoring can be made infeasable by choosing the primes to be large enough.
Diffie-Hellman: a prime modulus p and a base g < p is known by everyone (including the attacker). The private key is an integer x chosen randomly, 2 <= x < p-1 (there are better ways to choose x). The public key is g^x mod p. How does the attacker get x from g^x mod p? Again, the best known attack is one that is computationally roughly equal to factoring a composite number of about the size of p.

How does iSync recognise changes in Mac and phone

After getting a brand new cellphone Motorola V3X, i managed to transfer all contacts from my MAC address book to the phone via iSync.
However, i noted the following:
1. Let say in MAC address book there is an entry called
"sarah jessica" (as first name) and "parker" (as last name), after sync and transferred to phone, the phone first name becomes "sarah-jessica" while last name remains. The same applies when 2 words appeared in last name, and it will be separated with "-" in phone after sync. Any idea?
2. Assuming both phone and MAC address book are in sync, and i made changes to contact A in MAC then later made a different change in contact A in phone. If i sync, which entry will be considered as the latest and how does iSync differentiate it?

It's difficult to answer your question directly, because not all sync schemas and their extensions are public. I think Julian is absolutely correct when he points to the behavior you see being the result of Motorola's implementation of contact records. Their structure is generally more restrictive—far less flexible, actually—than those of others like Nokia and SONY Ericsson, and Apple programmers and developers must work within the bounds of these implementations when matching data records through iSync. Some of the issues are very clearly Motorola's alone, and some are likely generic Symbian issues.

The Cisco Nexus 7710 has six fabric module slots to provide simultaneously active fabric channels to each of the I/O and supervisor modules. Through the parallel forwarding fabric architecture, the Cisco Nexus 7710 can achieve 21 Tbps of forwarding capacity or more.
And for the Nexus 7718:
The Cisco Nexus 7700 18-Slot Switch has six fabric module slots to provide simultaneously active fabric channels to each of the I/O and supervisor modules. Through the parallel forwarding fabric architecture, the Cisco Nexus 7700 18-Slot Switch can achieve 42 Tbps of forwarding capacity or more.
So for the Nexus 7718 platform we have 220 Gbps * 6 Fabric Modules * 16 I/O slots totaling 21,120 Gbps. If we double that for full duplex we'll have 42,240 Gbps or 42 Tbps.
