How does NWDI do version control?

We use NWDI to control version for our Portal.
Where is the place to find out whether a change/development is
moved to consolidation or production ?
Thanks! Points!

  • How does labVIEW use ActiveX controls?

How does labVIEW use activeX controls?
I recently wrote an activeX control in VB and noticed that it would not work if the control was set so that its properties could not be set in ambient mode. This may suggest that labVIEW uses some activeX controls only in ambient mode.
Is this the case or are there more complexities?

    Dan,
Which version of LabVIEW do you have?
As per the KnowledgeBase bellow, in versions of LabVIEW prior to 5.1 you would get errors accessing the ambient properties.
ActiveX Controls in LabVIEW 5.0.1 Containers Cannot Access Ambient Property
Do your controls use the Ambient.UserMode to determine when the control is being used in a development environment? When embedding ActiveX controls into a container on the front panel, by default, the ActiveX control generates and responds to events, i.e. it is running, even when LabVIEW is in edit mode.
Right-click an ActiveX container and select Advanced»Design Mode from the shortcut menu to display the container
in design mode while you edit the VI. In design mode, events are not generated and event procedures do not run. The default mode is run mode, where you interact with the object as a user would.
Information can be found in the LabVIEW help files

  • OWB Process Flow - How is the best  version control tool ??

    HI all,
I just start work with OWB and I have a question to know how is the best way to do something.
    Imagine the scenario below:
If I have 2 or more requests for example:
Request 1: Create a Dimension City.
Request 2: Create a Dimension Products.
I Have ONE process flow and i need put my changes inside. This is my problem.
In my scenario I don't know what Request goes to Prod First.
If I put the Request 1 and Request 2 in my PROCESS FLOW, maybe I need change is someone decide change MY REQUEST PRIORITY.
There is something in OWB to "control the version or changes" ?? For a mapping I export the MDL and commit on SVN, but I dont know haw can i do with the process flow.
Something to agree multiples peoples work in different mappings and a SAME PROCESS FLOW ??
What is best way to work with process flow and version control.
What are the best practices when it comes to version control?
    Thanks.

    Amit,
Are you really doing this in 10.1.3.x and not 11g?
At any rate, I don't see how #2 and #3 relate whatsoever to your choice of a version control system. OK, maybe in #2 if there is some "maintenance" activity to be done against the version control server. Subversion is the open source alternative that you listed there and is pretty commonly used. If your company is already using one of the mentioned tools, why change? About the only thing I'd mention is to advise you NOT to use CVS for well documented reasons (JDev does support it) - if you would have picked CVS otherwise, choose Subversion. As far as question #1 - I've only used Subversion (well, I did use CVS for a while) with JDeveloper, so I can say it was "effective enough for me." In 10.1.3.x, I also used the external svn tools for doing lots of things like merging and so forth; in 11g, the support is much much better.
    Best,
    John

  • How does the Linux version differ from the Windows version?

I am considering the purchase of the Linux version of LabView and was
curious if anyone has compared the two platforms? For instance, are there
many feature differences? What abilities do you lose in the Linux platform?
I currently have LabView 6.1 with the datalogging and supervisory control
module. I would have to buy the whole package again for the Linux version.
The company I work for builds computerized machines for the wood working
industry and each one is equipped with a computer running Windows. I think
by having Linux running on them we would save money and have a more
configurable OS without all the extras. My only concern is if the
functionality is too limited in the Linux version. Any insight wou

    appreciated.

  • How does the new shuttle control work in Apex 3.1?

    Hi,
I have tried creating a shuttle type control in Apex 3.1. I have based it on a list of Items from my Items table. I can move Items from the left side to the right, and from there I can move them up & down, but whatever I do only seems to affect the page display and has no effect on my tables.
Can anyone explain how this control works and what it's meant to do? Could I, for example, use it to copy records from one table to another?
    Many thanks,
    Keith.

    Keith,
The Shuttle is a type of multi-select. It produces a comma delimited string of your selected values. It is useful in wizards, where you need to select multiple items from a single list (like selecting columns from a table). You can also use it against a 'real' table if you have not normalized. Let's say you have a table that stores meetings and one column lists the people invited. You could use a shuttle to select invitees (using an lov from your people table).

  • NWDI for Version Control of Non-Java-Objects

    Hello,
we are using NWDI to manage Java-Source (full Scenario with Tracks..).
How can I use NWDI to manage Non-Java-Objects (Texts, PHP,..)  and what DC-Type do I have to use in NWDS, so that there is no build or the build works without error when checking in and "activating" the objects?
    Regards,
    Manuel

    Hi Manuel,
there is no dedicated DC type for "non-Java stuff", but you can use an ordinary Java DC for that. The DC build generally cares only for declared Source and Package Folders (check the DC metadata). All other directories of a DC are ignored. The build will run for such a component, but will recognise that there is nothing to do. Activation will just integrate your files from inactive to active workspace.

  • RTF Template Version Control

    Hi,
I would be interested to know how people are handling version control of their RTF templates.
As far as I can tell you can't pass the Author / Title / Subject / Keywords fields to the published PDF document properties. This would be the ideal place to store a version number.
I have templates in 3 different environments and it would be really useful to be able to tell from which version of the template documents are generated. At the moment other than printing the version somewhere on the output I can't find a good way of doing it.
The only 'invisible' option I have found is putting the version number in a white font (assuming the background is white). Then it is not visible to the end user but can be copied (via text selection) and then viewed. However since documents are laid out differently it will be difficult to have a standard location for this so it can be easily found.
    Thanks

    Hi Brandy,
I totally agree with you. This has been on our wishlist forever....

  • Version control (lvcompare and lvmerge) for projects, classes and libs?

    Hi everyone
Version control for classes, projects and libs (not just a plain .vi) - can it be done with lvcompare and lvmerge?
I've tried a simple "LVCompare.exe project1.lvproj project2.lvproj" and it only returns an error (lvcompare.exe vi1.vi vi2.vi works). So this is maybe a dead end.
How do you guys version control more complex projects? E.g. projects which use classes, libs, labview projects (.lvproj)?
    Best regards
    Jonascj

Thank you for your reply. You are right, .lvclass, .lvproj and .lvlib are all just xml files - I've just figured that out my self when I accidentally called GIT's default diff on a lvclass
I've also just spoken to National Instruments. The person I spoke to (from the one of the danish offices) told me that no tools exist at this time (2013-04-08) which will compare those LabView file types, but that there was an internal (National Instruments themselves)  feature request for such tools.
He also told me another interesting thing which I did not know. The lvcompare.exe (located in National Instruments/Shared/LabVIEW Compare/ on Windows) is actually the not developed by National Instruments, but is either a "fork" of LVDiff (http://meta-diff.sourceforge.net/) or LVDiff renamed. So one could simply obtain the source code from http://meta-diff.sourceforge.net/ (at the bottom of the page "Win32 binary w/source") and add a few property nodes to do comparision of lvclass attributes etc.

My ftp in dreamweaver cs6 is telling me I need to define version  control settings before it allows me to update or get into files on server. Can someone tell me how I would define version control in dreamweaver cs6 please? Thanks

I was able to get around this by turning off the "Use FTP performance optimization" option under the Site>Server>Basic>More Options area.

  • How to do a version / release control using APEX?

    Hi,
I have APEX 4.2 connected thru pl/sql gatewat , 11gr2 DB and using theme 24 cloudy.
We are currently using forms/reports for our ERP and we are thinking of replacing forms with APEX. We have source code control software that we use to update the development environment to QA then production. This was easy since all programs are represented by physical files. If you have 100 screens you would have 100 files more or less.
In APEX since everything is stored on the DB how do you control which changes should go to QA and production eventually. How do you make a cutoff if you want to build a new release/baseline/patch/service pack?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi kvsinfo
You are making terrific sense, Apex is not only not-version control friendly, but makes version control an almost impossible task.
Change just one line in a template or page javascript and you will end with lots of differences when committing your changes. It is very difficult to revision control specific objects (like pages or LOVs.) And if you import an application under a different application ID (sometimes it is necessary), all the internal IDs change and when you commit your changes you will end up with hundreds of differences.
I am also looking for a better way but I am almost convinced that there is none. Apex 4.2 has lots of new functionalities but as far as I know nothing was done to improve integration with revision control systems. It is like they don't care about it, which is frustrating because revision control is extremely important for any system of some complexity. I say this as a constructive criticism.
We have a hard time here controlling versions of Apex applications. The methodology we use is that an Apex application is a unit. We don't control the versions of individual pages or other objects. We try to promote whole applications across environments whenever possible, by coordinating efforts among developers. If for any reason, for example, we need to deploy change A in page 10 to QA but not change B in page 20, we either:
    - Undo the changes in page 20 and export the app, then apply the changes again
    - Manually edit the export file to remove the undesired change
(at this point someone could say, just promote page 10; but this is a simple example, in most cases dozens of changes are made to an application across multiple pages, including shared objects, and only a handful should not be promoted)
This is terrible, terrible, prone to errors and time-consuming, but I don't see any other way of doing it.
And this is a simple scenario, there are other much complex scenarios. I also would like to hear from other people how they manage this.

  • MS Patch KB2976627 Java ActiveX version control and how it affects RDS sessions

The recent patch for MS to prevent IE from using older versions of Java ActiveX seems to put a version file under %localappdata% and pull this file from the Internet.  My questions are:
    1.  How does this work when you are using a mandatory profile for RDS users?
    2.  We don't allow internet access to the RDS servers/sessions.  How does that affect this whole process?
I'm quite confused how this patch works with RDS overall, so any explanation is appreciated.

I assume you are referring to this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2991000
"Starting September 9, 2014, out-of-date ActiveX controls will be blocked on computers that have the August Cumulative security update for Internet Explorer (MS14-051)(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2976627/ )or a later update applied"
If you apply this update and your users do not have access to the Internet, the control will simply be blocked.
    Microsoft list these options...
"If your organization has to have more time to lessen dependencies on outdated Java controls, you can take one of the following actions: •Turn off the feature completely. To do this, use the Turn off blocking of outdated ActiveX controls for Internet
Explorer Group Policy setting (or the corresponding registry key).
Note This is the less secure option.
•Turn off the feature for a specific domain. To do this, use the Turn off blocking of outdated ActiveX controls for Internet Explorer on specific domains Group Policy setting (or the corresponding registry key). This setting lets you turn off the feature on
the specific domains on which your enterprise has an outdated Java dependency."
Since you are using mandatory profiles, I would recommend updating the ActiveX control in the mandatory profile -> http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg241183(v=ws.10).aspx

  • How do I fix project after "Remove From Version Control" corrupted it?

I am using RoboHelp 9.0.1 and installed both Tortoise SVN 1.6.9 and latest PushOK SVNSCC then added my large RoboHelp project to SVN. I was able to check in and out files from SVN but had several issues with it:
    1) Super super slow. Working with folders or any renames would take 10 seconds per file and up to 1 hour if needed to refresh the root folder.
    2) I could not perform some actions at all, such as delete, rename, or move folders. I kept getting COM errors.
I therefore decided that working with SVN and RoboHelp is not practical, at least not on my VPN so I decided to disconnect the project from source control and just work locally. The only option that I saw that sounded like it would do that was the "Remove from Version Control". This started a process that lasted for several hours. At the end of it, I now have several significant issues:
    1) The order of the files and folders in my Project Manager is completely wrong now. I have almost 1000 topics and reordering all of them is not possible.
    2) The Table of Contents, Glossary, and Index files appear empty. They had content before.
    2) A couple of the Single Source Layouts I had created are completely missing.
    3) Many, but not all, of the folders have tons of files with the extension ending in "_temp_removed_by_svn"
    4) Many, but not all, of the files are actually gone from SVN so I can't recover a clean image. There was no warning that this command would actually delete the files from SVN (I thought it would just remove the version control connection).
    5) Who know what other issue exist that I haven't seen.
Any idea how I can fix this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Dan

Are the "_temp_removed_by_svn" files in your local folder or SVN? Let us know how you get on with the new project. It sounds like something is wrong with SVN. Can you use the SVN Log command to see whether there is a different version you can restore. This might also give you an indication of what might have caused the problem. You could try deleting your CPD file. It gets rebuilt it is isn't there anyway. This file can become bloated and it is good practice to delete it when it gets close to 2mb in size. Your project is fairly large and has a lot of folders and may affect performance. Have you considered splitting them and merging the output? I know you probably don't want to consider this right now, but I think it may be a better long term solution.

  • How does one continue to use Mail on the early MacBook Pro, Model 1,1, that is not upgradable to Lion?  I have been running iCloud on my iPhone (OS5) and iMac (Lion) along with the MacBook Pro (OS Version 10.6.8)

How does one continue to use Mail on the early MacBook Pro, Model 1,1, that is not upgradable to Lion?  I have been running iCloud on my iPhone (OS5) and iMac (Lion) along with the MacBook Pro (OS Version 10.6.8) since November until now.  Mail will no longer download on the MacBook Pro and keeps asking for my password.

Mail should still be usable with your machine - but you'll need to update the settings to conform to the requirements of your system. Check with your ISP (like ATT, etc.) for the settings that will work with your Mail. Once you've updated this, you should be able to email like before.
For example, my ISP required that I go to Mail Preferences/Accounts and make sure the details conform to your email settings.
I have no idea of what your ISP is or what the settings might be, but this is likely the source of the problem.

  • How to add Stored Procedures to Version Control

My system mainly relies on stored procedures and I recently noticed I don’t have the version control for my database.
So, my question is: How can I add stored procedures to version control?

Once you have a database in a SQL Server Database Project, integrating to Source control is the same as any Visual Studio project. First you configure Visual Studio to use TFS for Version Control:
Then you can configure a workspace connected to a TFS server and add your projects to source control.
