How execute pl/sql command from Oracle ADF Business Components

can't find examples for how execute pl/sql command from Oracle ADF Business Components and how call pl/sql package procedure from ADF Business Components.
insert,update,delete rows in view object instance cache is good but if i must do some complex operations while insert,update,delete rows..it's more better for me to call
pl/sql procedure from oracle db.Am i wrong ????

this should be similar to how it worked in JDeveloper 9.0.3. hava a look at <JDev903 Home>\BC4J\samples\StoredProc for a code example.

Executing a sql command from a menu item

I am working on a forms migration from 4.5 to 10g.
On 4.5, if I execute a sql using a sqlplus -s command, from a menu item, a window is opened showing the execution messages, if there were errors and it's details.
It doens´t happen on 10g anymore. Is there any chance I can keep on 10g this functionality that used to work on 4.5 ??

With C/S versions, the Host() command execute on the machine that runs the Forms runtime, that is the client machine.
With Web versions, Host() is also executed on the machine that runs the Forms runtime, that, this time is the application Server.
Use the Client_Host() Webutil equivalent.

How to run unix command from Oracle Foms 10g

OS: UNIX Solaries, Oracle Application Server 10g
To run shell script from Oracle Forms, I used the following host('/bin/bash /u01/compile.sh') and it works well
Now, I need to run unix command something like
host('mv form1.fmx FORM1.FMX') but it's not working
I tried to append the command "mv form1.fmx FORM1.FMX" to the compile.sh shell script but also it's not working although the rest lines of the shell script is running well

Oracle ADF Business Components Vs PL/SQL Application

Hi,
Has anybody used Oracle Application Development Framework's Business Components (ADF BC)? What are the disadvantages and issues that you faced? Can anyone compare PL/SQL with ADF BC?
Would like to know the advantages and dis-advantages of both the technologies(PL/SQL and ADF BC).
Can anybody help on this?

Not sure what exactly you are looking for.
But let me explain so that you can get some idea of their working and ofcourse difference.
ADF BC which are nothing but the Entity Objects (EO) and View Objects (VO) which are the Java representation of the DB.
EO is like database table and is a 1-o-1 representation of the underline database table as a Java class file.
VO is like database view and is always based upon some custom SQL or combination of one or more EOs.
For developing a Database based application you always layer where you can handle the database objects and can also write the business logic or validation for the
data entered at the UI.
PLSQL is straight forward is the language to write business logic at the database level.

Oracle adf business components

Hi All,
I have an use case.like I need to load list of values from database.The list of values should be from a join query two tables.I want to use the ADF BC here
and once user select the value from the lov the selected value has to and sit in database table via a java class.How this can be achived.
I had created the adf business componet and i can see the tables in datacontrol and views and entity objects in model.how to proceed further to achive my use case.

Create a managed bean. Just have two input fields in jspx and an action say commandbutton.
Create two bindings for the text and password fields. Also for action, bind a method in bean.
Drag and drop any field from the VO you created and remove the fields from JSPX so that the iterator for it wil be available in pageDef

I want to do this from within PL/SQL.
I need to to do 4 things.

The fourth is SQL*Loader.
The usual way is with a UNIX script calling 3 SQL scripts and one Loader control file.
Is there way to do all this from within ONE PL/SQL SCRIPT ??

Either create a view or a table valued UDF. Using stored procedure in OLEDB source has some gotchas it will not pick up metadata information by default due to late binding.

How to execute a .sql file from a batch file

Hi all
I've to take backup of a database weekly twice on every wednesday & Friday @ 5pm IST. I've written a hot backup script, which works every well.
now i want to automate the script. ie i want this script to run on wednesday & friday @ 5pm without any human interfearance ie with out actually any1 executing this script.
i created a batch file prod.bak with the following lines
@echo off
set oracle_sid=testdb
set oracle_home=d:\oracle\ora92
sqlplus /nolog
connect sys as sysdba/oracletest@testdb
this batch file when eexecuted connects me to sql prompt.
Now i want to execute my backup script bkp.sql automatically when it is connected to sql prompt.
(i tried with these lines in the above batch file...
call bkp.sql---it just opens the bkp.sql file in notepad & displays the script
start bkp.sql---same as call
connect / as sysdba/pwd@[email protected] --- does not work simply remains a the sql prompt.
At 17:00 /Every:w,f "d:\bkp.sql"---does not work simply remains at the sql promt.)
Can any1 let me know what should i write in the batch file that will execute the bkp.sql file automatically after it gets connected to sql prompt. M using oracle 9i.
I'll manage he time through windows utility of scheduling task.. Let me know how to execute the .sql file from a batch file.

Working locally, and having set the ORACLE_SID, you don't need to specify the SqlNet alias (@testdb).
Remember to put an exit at the end of the bpk.sql script.

How can I use unix commands from oracle report

I have to use the following command from oracle reports.
In oracle forms we can use the HOST command but what about oracle reports2.5.
I have to email the attached file 100245.pdf from oracle reports to the given email id

Hi,
It's because .bat (or .cmd) files are scripts and not executables and are interpreted using the command line executable - which is normally cmd.exe (although you can buy others).
So you need to call cmd.exe passing the bat file name as a parameter, something like
cmd.exe /c batchfilename
Without the /c you will never get a response.
However, this brings us to the bizarre conclusion that you are going to:
call cmd.exe (a shell interpreter)
to launch a batch file
that calls cygwin (another shell interpreter)
which then runs ls
When shouldn't that just be:
call cmd.exe to run the dir command
Or better yet, If you are just after a file name listing and you seem to understand Java stored procs, why not just write a JSP to list the contents of a directory? No problems with OS dependant commands, scripts and 3rd party interpreters. Plenty of examples of that out on the internet as well.

DG4ODBC is for free and requires a 3rd party ODBC driver and it can connect to any 3rd party database as long as you use a suitable ODBC driver
