How let labview to verify string is in Scientific Notation.

Hey all,
I want labview to convert a spreadsheet string to an array. This is easy using the 'spreadsheet string to array' tool. The only problem I've got is that I get the string from a RS232 device and it is time critical.
Example:
If I read the data from the buffer it gives me:
+1.50337800E+00,+1.70316300E+00 for two channels, this is converted and accepted
if there is a small delay I get:
+1.50337800E+00,+1.70316
This will also be accepted because +1.70316 is also recognized as a number.
How can program labview to check that every number it reads is according to the Scientific Notation?

If it was up to me, I'd fix the problem and not the symptom - but many times, it is NOT up to me. MANY times there are artificial constraints (like the time allocated to fix the problem) so you just have to make a band-aid like this. I get grumpy when I'm forced to program a workaround instead of a fix.

Double.parseDouble(String) - problems when string is in scientific notation

Hello guys,
I'm doing some numerical calculations and I wonder whether it is possible for Double.parseDouble(String) to parse string in the scientific notation i.e. 1.0824234234E-10. Is it the notation itself causing the exception : NumberFormatException or the number is just too big/small and double can't hold it ?
If it's just the notation how can I fix it ?

How can labview update the string control (text-edit box) after we have pressed the carriage return key on the keyboard during text-editing within that box?

Dear readers,
I have been trying to work out how to get labview to detect the event when a 'string' control has been modified, where the user has finished editing the string either by 1) pressing the enter key on the keyboard, or by 2) taking the focus away from the string control again. For example.. if I use the mouse to click on the string control and then I type 1234 into the box, I would like to have a routine that does something once the user hits the Enter key of the keyboard, or when the user takes the focus away from the string control again by clicking on something else. I would like the routine to respond even when the user didn't change anything in the text box (such as when we mouse-click on the edit box to go into edit mode, and then mouse-click on something else to remove the focus with no changes to the contents in edit-box).
The purpose of my routine is to have a edit-box for a user to change for example the centre-frequency of a vector network analyser, so that the centre-frequency of the network analyser can change once the user finishes entering a new value in the text-edit box by hitting Enter key after the number is keyed in. Even if the user has clicked on the edit box, but changes their mind by mouse-clicking on something else to remove focus from the edit box, I would still like labview to detect the event when the control loses focus, so that the centre frequency can be updated anyway (to the same value that was already in the edit box).
So far, I've tried set the string control option to 'limit to single line', so that I can try to scan for a carriage return .. '\n' ... pattern in the string. Unfortunately this doesn't work because labview doesn't seem to attach the '\n' to the end of that single line.
Could someone please suggest ways to set a flag when a user hits Enter during text-edit mode of a string control, or when focus has been removed from the string control?
While I've only described my problem for controlling a single control parameter on the gpib device, I'd like to make this feature work so that I can do the same kind of thing with other control parameters as well.

Hi Kenny,
instead of using the event structure, you can directly achieve to what you want by the KeyFocus property of the string control.
- Enable Limit to single line option
- Create the property KeyFocus in read mode and connect an indicator
Each time you click on the string to modify it KeyFocus is True; when you click away or hit Enter KeyFocus is False.
You can toggle your settings when KeyFocus changes from True to False.

How can I send multiple string commands into a VISA write?

I am very new to LabVIEW (2.5 months) so please forgive me if my lingo is not up to par.
How can I send multiple string commands to a VISA write. For example each string command looks like this
1) 3A00 0000 0000 FFFF FFFF FFFF 0000 0000 FF00 0000 0000 0000 0000 0033 (Scenario 1)
2) 3A01 0000 0000 FFFF FFFF FFFF 0000 0000 FF00 0000 0000 0000 0000 0034 (Scenario 2)
3) 3A01 0000 0000 33FF FFFF FFFF 0000 0000 FF00 0000 0000 0000 0000 0067 (Scenario 3).
and so on and so forth. And there are a number of scenarios.
Each String scenario will give a different string output which will be interpreted differently in the front panel.
Right now I have to manually change the string commands on the front panel to give me the desired output. How can I do this without manually changing the commands i.e. hard coding each scenario into the block diagram?

How do I copy the string portion of an enum into the string portion of a cluster?

I want to do this for the an entire array of clusters. I'm trying to use a for loop. Can't figure out how to parse the string portion of the enum into the string portion of the cluster.
Alternatively, I'd be happy if I could figure out some way to tie the enum to the array of clusters, but I figure that gets problematic.

According to your description, you want to connect multiple database from multiple servers using dynamic connection.
If in this case, we can create a Table in our local database (whatever DB we want) and load all the connection strings. We can use Execute SQL Task to query all the connection strings and store the result-set in a variable of object type in SSIS package.
Then use ForEach Loop container to shred the content of the object variable and iterate through each of the connection strings. And then Place an Execute SQL task inside ForEach Loop container with the SQL statements we have to run in all the DB instances.

Chinese Letter validation in a string

I am facing a problem while validating a string for chinese characters in it.
If the string contains chinese letters, then i need to pass a text message into the string.
If the string contains both english and chinese, then i need to erase the chinese part and print only english.
I have been using the below logic for this purpose.
The Below logic performs well if the string has value like " #$%^PAVAN", it will print as PAVAN.
But fails to validate the string if it contains 'PAVAN@#$%%".....
(Here, special characters are to be assumed as chinese...)
The logic is as follows.....

The most primitive way is to generate a .HTML file.
Type your HTML codes (Using string constant) and save it using "Write Chars To File.vi" using a filename with extension .html

To add to Scott's post. Option 60 would be useful if you needed to put certain types of AP on specific controllers. Otherwise, no real need to use it for the most part.
Though, I do recall an issue a few years ago that some windows machines had issues getting DHCP if option 43 is being returned.
Now, on an IOS switch, you can only configure one option 60 per DHCP scope

The top portion can search for the location of a string, while the bottom portion is to locate the position of a character. Both can search for a character.

I tried to use the value assigned to connectionString in the XML settings above, replacing single backslash characters with double backslash characters, because the Visual Studio editor flagged them as unrecognizable, and wound up with the
following.

The above code however does not work either. So again, does anyone know how I can specify in C# code, a connection string to access my SQLite database? Thanks in advance for your reply.

But you cannot use the SqlConnection class to connect to a SQLite database. You will need to download and add a reference to the System.Data.SQLite library and then use the SQLiteConnection class:
connection = new System.Data.SQLite.SQLiteConnection(connectionString);
try
connection.Open();
command = new System.Data.SQLite.SQLiteCommand(sql, connection);
