How many clusterable things in JNDI tree?

We're starting to try out clustering in WL 5.1 (sp8 on WinNT for now) We're
seeing some odd behavior and we're wondering if the cause is related to JNDI
replication messages. If we deploy just a couple of clusterable rmi
services on two servers in a cluster, things seem to work ok. They maintain
a connection to each other and can be viewed with the Admin console.
However, if we deploy about 200 clusterable things (mostly EBs that by
default have clusterable homes) then things get weird. If we just bring up
one server, things aren't too bad. But when we bring up the second server,
communication between the two servers is only established briefly before we
get a "Timed out server" or something worse.
Someone thought they had read a news post saying that it's not good to have
large number of clusterable things in the JNDI tree because of all the
replication messages caused by this. True? How many is too many? Thanks.

JNDI replication messages only occur when the state of the JNDI tree changes --
which is normally at server startup or shutdown. I would recommend pursuing
this with support as I have been at sites that deployed more EJBs in a cluster
          than this without those problems.

  • How many entries are in my tree?

    Hi,
I want to know how many entries are in my LDAP (sub)tree.
I know the attribute numsubordinates, but this is only for immidiate subordinates.
    Any ideas?
    Regards,
    Ingo

So you could leverage that knowledge to do some calculation. For instance - if you query the directory server for objectclass and numsubordinates equal to present you will get all of the subtree counts.
    For instance:
    ldapsearch -b "dc=namespace,dc=com" -h machine -p port -D "binddn" -w bindpwd "(&(objectclass=*)(numsubordinates=*))" numsubordinates
This will output every entry that has a number of subordinates - then you can basically add them together to get a nice approximation ...
Course if you have several hundred subtrees this may be painful ...

  • Need to know how many pages contain color

Is there any way of determining from the PDF file how many pages contain color and how many are just black and white?
I need to be able to charge users for use of the more expensive color laser printer, and tell the relative cost of printing in black only.
If there is not a simple way, eg something in each page header, then how many different things would I need to scan for within the PDF file?
Has anyone else had this problem, and does anyone have any utilty software to help do this?
    Cheers, Derek

Since this is the PDFLanguage forum, I'll answer by explain a bit about PDF...
In PDF, there are 11 different ways to represent a color. For example, "Black" could be represented in Gray (1.0), RGB ([0 0 0]), CMYK([0 0 0 1]), etc. Which one(s) of those are "black and white", in your definition?
Therefore, the first thing you need to do is understand how color works in PDF. Second, you need to understand how those varying colorspaces translate to your printer.
THEN you can look around at software solutions that will help you solve your needs.

  • Bind remote object to JNDI tree

I want to create a JNDI tree in the same JVM with remote object, and then I have two problem:
1> Should I bind remote object or its stub to the JNDI tree?
2> How to look up the JNDI tree to get the binded stub from the client side? (Suppose server ip is 192.168.99.42)
I hope a gentleman would give me a piece of code, so i would be much clearer. Thanks a lot!

  • How many watts/amps is SD-R2412 and other toshiba slimline drives ?

How many watts/amps is this CD/DVD drive - SD-R2412 , and other toshiba slimline drives ?
i'm not quite sure which forum to post that question in.
I did find this link on the american toshiba site (or maybe from googling with site:toshiba.com)
    http://sdd.toshiba.com/main.aspx?Path=HardDrivesOpticalDrives/CDCombination/SD-R2412/SD-R2412Specifications
But it doesn't say how many Amps is on the 5V line. If I knew that, i'd know how many watts. I'm interested in that.
    And also for others.

Not a problem, I bought it now, and it won't be too many watts anyway, that was just my curiousity.
    But just for your curiousity
i'm using a low watt power supply (small, noiseless). One model is 120W but a cheaper one is 60W.
fact is, a slim Cd drive will be fine. But still, since i've got a low watt psu, i'd like to know how many watts things are using. So if I wanted to plug in a regular hard drive, i'd know whether or not there's enough watts spare.
I have a device from maplin to measure. it's fine for when i buy the drive!
    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=38343&doy=6m9&C=SO&U=strat15
"plug-in mains power and electricity monitor"
You can't stick so strongly to the label on the drive. For example..
Although I've found that CD drives are labelled as effectively 30W but use 25W at their max.
I've found that hard drives use far more than their label says!
One hard drive labelled as effecitvely 7W, used about 18W at one point.
And another labelled as effectively 13W used 27W at one point.
When I say ' labelled as effectively '.. I mean it says how many amps on each rail e.g. [email protected] [email protected], and I figure out the watts by multiplying and adding. P=IV (power = current * voltage). power measured in watts, current in amps, voltage in volts.

  • I'm trying to back up 10.6.8 (snow leopard) and all my files before upgrade to Mavericks.  I have an old but sturdy external hard drive...how many GB available will I probably need to back up the whole thing? thanks!

I'm trying to back up 10.6.8 (snow leopard) and all my files before upgrade to Mavericks.  I have an old but sturdy external hard drive...how many GB available will I probably need to back up the whole thing? thanks!

You will need a separate partition unless you plan to use the entire drive. You will need an amount of space somewhat larger than the total space now used on your startup drive. If you select the startup drive's Desktop icon, then press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window. Used space will be shown in the topmost panel. Add a GB or two to that number to determine how much space you'll need for the backup.
Do not backup on a drive that has any files you want to keep. You can make a bootable backup as follows:
Clone using Restore Option of Disk Utility
      1. Open Disk Utility in the Utilities folder.
      2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
      3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
      4. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag
it to the Destination entry field.
      5. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to
          the Source entry field.
      6. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.

  • How many OC clusters can in installed / implemented on a node & RAC DBS

    In a cluster,
How many OC clusters can be installed and How many RAC Database can a single OC cluster can support.
Can i share single VG & LV to manager two OC clusters each with one RAC Database.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Regards
    Satish

What are referring to here as "OC clusters"? By any chance, are you referring to Oracle Clusterware? If yes, you can install only one Oracle Clusterware in a cluster, and I don't think there is a hard limit on number of databases it can support as far it is not constrained by the OS resources and the entries it can make in the OCR.
Can i share single VG & LV to manager two OC clusters each with one RAC Database.Since you can not install more than one Clusterware on a cluster, this question doesn't arise.
    Hope this helps.

  • I have a good question does how many things we have in the dock station

Slow our computer down, I used to have a pc and the more you had on your taskbar the slower the system was. Does the same thing happen with my Imac or does it not matter. If it does slow things down I would like a recomendation on how many programs I should put in the dock station without affecting my systems's performance

    Good questions!
You will only really be adding 512MB because you'll have to replace one of the 512MB's with the 1GB. If you are using that much ram for your everyday usage you should consider upgrading your ram to 2GB (2x1GB) modules. You will get a little better price on a 2GB kit, but you can upgrade 1GB now and one later if you wish.
The ScreenSaver "Options/Settings" like the Dock won't make any difference, but letting it run will.
If you go to: "Macintosh HD / Application / Utilities" you will see an App. called "Activity Monitor" open it to see all your processes. If you want you can drag a copy of the icon to your Dock same as other App's, it uses 10MB when open so quit when your not using it as well.

  • How to delete conext entries in JNDI tree after undeployment?

    Hi,
When I deploy an EAR or JAR file with EJBs, they bind in the JNDI server.
When I undeploy the application the beans are no longer bound to the JNDI
tree, but the contexts they created remain.
For example, I deploy a bean that binds its home object to the following
    entry in the JNDI:
    myapp/mymodule/MyBean
When I undeploy MyBean, the context myapp/mymodule remain.
Is there an utility to remove these entries or do I have to develop my own
utility? I did not find anything in the administration console to do this.
This has been a source of some trouble, because sometimes I get error
messages when I want to redeploy the beans.
    Thanks in advance,

To bind an object into the JNDI tree check the documentation here:

If this is to be used by all your applications that you deploy on the server check out the startup/shutdown class documentation here:

  • MBeanServer location in JNDI tree

    Hello,
I'm testing methods that use a MBeanServer from JConsole and MBean browser in EM console. I launch the JConsole using this parameters:
    jconsole -J-Djava.class.path=/home/user/wlfullclient-10.3.5.0.jar:/usr/java/jdk1.6.0_30/lib/jconsole.jar -J-Djmx.remote.protocol.provider.pkgs=weblogic.management.remote
When I use the JConsole for testing I obtain the MBeanServer in this way:
    InitialContext ctx = new InitialContext();
    server = (MBeanServer)ctx.lookup("java:comp/jmx/runtime");
And when I use the MBean browser I have to to use this code:
    server = (MBeanServer)ctx.lookup("java:comp/env/jmx/runtime");
I'm following the next Oracle documentation, but I want to know if there is other way to use only once String to found the MBeanServer in the JNDI tree.
Does anybody know a different way to do this?
    Thanks in advance,
Make Local Connections to the Runtime MBean Server+
Local clients can access a WebLogic Server instance’s Runtime MBean Server through the JNDI tree instead of constructing a JMXServiceURL object. Only the Runtime MBean Server registers itself in the JNDI tree.+
When accessed from JNDI, the Runtime MBean Server returns its javax.management.MBeanServer interface. This interface contains all of the methods in the MBeanServerConnection interface plus additional methods such as registerMBean(), which local process can use to register custom MBeans. (See MBeanServer in the J2SE 5.0 API Specification.)+
If the classes for the JMX client are located at the top level of an enterprise application (that is, if they are deployed from the application’s APP-INF directory), then the JNDI name for the Runtime MBean Server is:+
    java:comp/jmx/runtime
If the classes for the JMX client are located in a Java EE module, such as an EJB or Web application, then the JNDI name for the Runtime MBeanServer is:+
    java:comp/env/jmx/runtime
    For example:
    InitialContext ctx = new InitialContext();
    server = (MBeanServer)ctx.lookup("java:comp/env/jmx/runtime");

    Hi,
    I have same problem.
I have developed some libs (with common functionality to be used in many places, utils, and so) which I deploy in $DOMAIN/lib. I also have an ear, with ApplicationLifecycleListener to register some MBeans in the MBeanServer and they make use of this shared libs.
The thing is that if I access on of my MBeans from JConsole and if I access the same MBean from within em console, my app needs to look at different locations in the JNDI tree for the MBeanServer. Shouldn't this code, as it is running in the same location need to locate the MBeanServer the same way? Or because the client application in one case is remote, and in the other is local, need to look for the MBeanServer in one location and if not found in the other.
Think that code is deployed as a Util class in the DOMAIN/lib directory.
    Thanks,

  • ACL on JNDI tree or elements in it

    Hello
I am trying to find out how I can secure information in the JNDI tree.
The documentation led me to believe using the t3 naming service I could
    protect anything under acl.<i>perm</i>.weblogic.jndi.<i>path</i>
but this does not seem to be the case. I assumed path was the jndi
path name... I have been unable to find documentation on what I
can attach ACL to in the JNDI tree - though I have seen a few
posted on deja, example from filerealm.properties,
    #acl.list.weblogic.jndi.weblogic.ejb=system
    #acl.modify.weblogic.jndi.weblogic.rmi=system
    #acl.lookup.weblogic.jndi.weblogic.fileSystem=system
There seems to be <b>no</b> definitive list though in the BEA documentation.
Can anyone refer me to docs on what JNDI elements can attach ACL?
Or how I can protect things in the JNDI tree? I get the impression,
that I must manually implement ACL support for remote objects
I add into the tree. I have also not found good information
    on this.
