How to accept user values into a pl/sql procedure or function on every execution
As we accept user values on every execution in a C or a java program, is it possible to do so with a pl/sql procedure or a funtion without using parameters?
I cannot use parameters because it is required to be interactive while accepting the user-values like,
Please enter your date of birth in 'dd/mm/yyyy' format:
It depends from where you are calling your PLSQL routine. If it is SQL*Plus then you can use & (ampersand) with the variable to be input at run time.
If you are executing the PLSQL routine from another application (some front end application) then it's not possible. Because when a procedure is executing at server side, the front end application does not have control, and the control is only transfered back to front end application when the PLSQL routine either completes successfully or throws an exception.
In either case, you can not go back to the PLSQL routine.
In this case, what you can do is, write code in your front end application to get that variable value from user and then pass that value to PLSQL routine.

How to pass src value into img tag in ADF
Hi,
My Dev : 11.1.2.3.0
How to pass row values into <img> tag.,I used the below code but it's taking empty.,
I tried both ways like #{row.CdFilePath} and ${row.CdFilePath}
<af:iterator var="row"
value="#{bindings.xxx.collectionModel}"
id="i2">
<img src='/ShowImage?src=#{row.CdFilePath}' border='0' style="width:100px; height:100px; margin:5px;"/>
</af:iterator>
Please tell me any other option is there..
ThanksThis works if you use a normal table so I guess it should work here too.
Are you sure the el #{row.CdFilePath} return something?
Why don't you use the adf image tag <af:image source="/ShowImage?src=#{row.CdFilePath}".../> instead of the html img tag?
Should the src property not be enclosed with " instead of your '?

How to use pl/sql procedure or function as part of validate the entity obj?
Hi,
we are migrating from oracle forms to jdeveloper 11g.
I have a req. that,i wanted to use oracle pl/sql procedure to validate a attribute in an entity created with ADF BC?
Is it possible to implement this?
And how to show the error message from pl/sql procedure?
Regards
Murali.Hi,
It is possible by using a method validator for the entity attribute.
Create a transient attribute 'X'.
In the validation section of the attribute to be validate, choose method validator.
In the Error Message tab set error message as {0}.
Below the value for tokentoken should source.X (X is the transient attribute name)
In the java code of method validator, call the stored procedure and set the value of transient attribute X with the error message from SP.
Use setX("ErrorMessage").

How to pass Unix environment variable to a SQL procedure or SQL * Plus

How to pass Unix environment variable to a SQL procedure or SQL * Plus file..
I am trying to invoke a SQL Procedure from Unix
by passing the value of a Unix environment variable.
Is it possible..?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Srinivas JaltaruWithin your shell script you can use what is known as a "here document" which is basically a way of wrapping a call to Oracle. The following call to Oracle loops and writes rows to files with numerically increasing file names. Two unix shell variables are used, one in a select statement and one in a spool command :
<pre>
#!/bin/bash
export ORACLE_SID=DEV05
FILENO=1007351
while [ ${FILENO} -le 1008400 ]
do
FILENAME=farm_${FILENO}.txt
DUMMY=`sqlplus -s user20/user20 <<SQLSTOP
set lines 73
set pages 0
set head off
set termout off
set echo off
set feedback off
select rpad(searchx, 8)
from blastx@PRODUCTION
where searchx = ${FILENO} ### here's a shell variable
spool /export/home/user20/sql/psiblast/BACKUP2_D/${FILENAME} ### here's a shell variable
spool off
SQLSTOP`
FILENO=`expr ${FILENO} + 1`

How to accept user inputs from sql script
I want to create Tablespace useing sql script , but the location of the data file I need accept from user . (to get the location of the data file ) .
How can I accept user input from pl/sql .
Example :
CREATE TABLESPACE TSPACE_INDIA LOGGING
DATAFILE 'H:\ORACLE_DATA\FRSDB\TSPACE_INDI_D1_01.dbf'
SIZE 500M AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT 1280K MAXSIZE UNLIMITED
EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL;here I need to accept location of the datafile from user ie : 'H:\ORACLE_DATA\FRSDB\TSPACE_INDI_D1_01.dbf'Hi,
Whenenever you write dynamic SQL, put the SQL text into a variable. During development, display the variable instead of executing it. If it looks okay, then you can try executing it in addition to displaying it. When you're finished testing, then you can comment out or delete the display.
For example:
SET SERVEROUTPUT ON
DECLARE
flocation VARCHAR2 (300);
sql_txt VARCHAR2 (1000);
BEGIN
SELECT '&Enter_The_Path'
INTO flocation
FROM dual;
sql_txt := 'CREATE TABLESPACE SRC_TSPACE_INDIA LOGGING
DATAFILE' || flocation || ' "\SRC_TSPACE_INDI_D1_01.dbf" ' || '
SIZE 500M AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT 1280K MAXSIZE UNLIMITED
EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL ';
dbms_output.put_line (sql_txt || ' = sql_txt');
-- EXECUTE IMMEDIATE sql_txt;
END;
/When you run it, you'll see something like this:
Enter value for enter_the_path: c:\d\fubar
old 5: SELECT '&Enter_The_Path'
new 5: SELECT 'c:\d\fubar'
CREATE TABLESPACE SRC_TSPACE_INDIA LOGGING
DATAFILEc:\d\fubar
"\SRC_TSPACE_INDI_D1_01.dbf"
SIZE 500M AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT 1280K MAXSIZE
UNLIMITED
EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL = sql_txt
PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.This makes it easy to see that you're missing a space after the keyword DATAFILE. There are other errrors, too. For example, the path name has to be inside the quotes with the file name, without a line-feed between them, and the quotes should be single-quotes, not double-quotes.
Is there some reason why you're using PL/SQL? In SQL, you can just say:
CREATE TABLESPACE SRC_TSPACE_INDIA LOGGING
DATAFILE '&Enter_The_Path\SRC_TSPACE_INDI_D1_01.dbf'
SIZE 500M AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT 1280K MAXSIZE UNLIMITED
EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL;though I would use an ACCEPT command to given a better prompt.
Given that you want to use PL/SQL, you could assign the value above to sql_txt. If you need a separate PL/SQL variable for flocation, then you can assign it without using dual, for example:
DECLARE
flocation VARCHAR2 (300) := '&Enter_The_Path';The dual table isn't needed very much in PL/SQL.

How to put Variable value into Labeltext of a subcomponent WIB
Hello
In our Web Based Planning tool we uses Tabstrib_control component and the Label-Text is filled like 'Plan 2008'. (Our BPS = 3.5 and Web interface builder)
I am looking for a way,how to put a variable into the Label field of the component. I am not sure if there is a possibility to enhance the labelfield with variable values.
Thanks a lof for any good idea.
Best regards
Christian
Our BPS = 3.5 and Web interface builderHello Christian,
Maybe I have a solution for your problem.
1. Create subcomponent "Selector variable" with your variable.
2. Hide this new subcomponent
3. Write in the Label-Text: <%=descr("Name of new subcomponent"/value)%>
If the variable will be selected by the user in the web interface, put the name of this selector in the field "Update upon Change of" in the properties of the new created subcomponent.
Hope this helps.

How do i store value into my itunes account?
i have never used an itunes music store gift certificate before, in fact i only made one purchase in itunes before, and that was because i was just playing with my itunes setting and didn't know there was no final confirmation stage to cancel a purchase.
anyway, a friend of mine give me an one hundred dollar gift certificate, and i have no idea where to store the value into my itunes account. can someone please help me out with it?
in addition, the way my name appeared on the gift certificate is a little different from how i had entered it in itunes. will that cause any problem?
any assistance would be greatly appreciated. thanks.It will store it in your iTunes music store account
The name/spelling does not matter.
Open iTunes.
Select Music Store.
On the left side of the store under Account, select Gift Certificate, then Redeem.
Enter the number on the Gift Certificate and then click Redeem.
This amount will be added to your iTunes store account and you can use it whenever you want. You don't need to do it all at once either. -
