How to access to posgresql database

Hi,
I would like to know if it's possible to access to postgresql database with forms9i.
Thanks

Hi Smita,
In case your portal has MS SQL server as its databse, then I am giving the step by step directions to achieve 90% of what you wish to do. Rest 10% you can try on your own.
Go through my article given below:
[How to Create a Web Service using Enterprise JavaBeans|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/library/uuid/b00917dc-ead4-2910-3ebb-b0a63e49ef10]
First go through pages 1-12 which will help you to create user/table in MS SQL database as well as create a data source in Visual Admin. Page 19 will give you the code which you can use in your Portal component to access the tables you have created in your SQL database.
I hope your problem gets solved.

  • How to access a Cloudscpae database?

    I have problems setting up and accessing the J2EE RI built-in database Cloudscape.
    In the EJB tutorial (EJBIntro) some EJB are created during the exercises. There's
    also a file named MusicStoreDB.jar which contains a prepared Cloudscape database.
    In the turorial it's been told:
    "Sun's J2EE Reference Implementation comes with a built-in version of the
    Cloudscape RDBMS. If you are using J2EE RI, you should initially use Cloudscape as
    your database to avoid configuration problems. You can learn how to substitute a
    different database after you become comfortable with creating and deploying
    applications using Cloudscape."
    and:
    "For Cloudscape, simply copy the MusicStoreDB.jar archive into the directory
    %J2EE_HOME%\cloudscape and then unjar the database. (All files unjar into the
    directory MusicStoreDB within the current working directory.)
    One last step is needed when running with J2EE RI: You need to modify the
    %J2EE_HOME%\config\default.properties file to define the datasources available
    to J2EE RI. This is done by changing the line that reads:
    jdbc.datasources=jdbc/Cloudscape|
    jdbc:cloudscape:rmi:CloudscapeDB;create=true
    (with everything on one line)
    to be:
    jdbc.datasources=jdbc/Cloudscape|
    jdbc:cloudscape:rmi:CloudscapeDB;create=true|
    jdbc/MusicStore|jdbc:cloudscape:rmi:MusicStoreDB;create=false
    (with everything on one line)
    and then restarting both Cloudscape and J2EE RI."
    Rather than doing the changes in "default.properties" I did in "resources.properties"
    but it dooesn't work.
    What am I doing wrong? Can anybody help me to get the database run? How do I have to
    register the MusicStoreDB within resources.properties and how can I access this database
    using the DatabaseTool provided with the EJB tutorial?
    Thank you.

  • How to access a non-database column in a report?

    Hi all,
    I would like to populate a column in my report, which is not based (in Oracle Forms, it is a "non-database item").
    But I don't know how to access it. Let's say the alias of the column is "column", I tried to do it with #column#, but it's not valid.
    Does anyone know a solution here?
    Thanks a lot,

    Where do you need to access the column value ? Are other columns of the report accessible from where you are trying to access the value of this 'non database' column ?

  • How to access rows in database throught different protocol?

    Hello all, I know that user can upload file (image, audio file) to Oracle database through iFS and these files will be stored under data type of CLOB or BLOB. ( Am I correct? ) Then user can access all these files through different protocol such as http or ftp. But if now I want to access those data that are not of such data types, i.e. some original data in the tables (e.g. I want to select some rows containing user name, user ID, etc. through different protocol such as ftp or http, then can iFS help me to do that? All this data is just a value in some columns of a table, can I retrieve them through iFS? Thx in advance

    All the documents in iFS are associated with metadata such as user name (creator), etc. You can retrieve the metadata associated with a document and its contents (BLOB) through any protocols we support. For getting the attributes, you just need some Java call to do so.

  • How to access an Oracle Lite 10.2 from native VC++ 2005 mobile app

    Hi,
    I'm developing a MS VC++ 2005 mobile app than will run on Mobile 5 ARM devices. This app needs to connect to an Oracle Lite 10.2 Lite database that is currently installed on those devices.
    I know that the MFC and ATL libraries are not "fully" supported on the mobile platform I need, so I need a way to connect to the Lite database, as those libraries don't provide that kind of functionality.
    I've been looking around for ways to connect to a Lite Database using VC++ 2005 native, but nothing seems to work!
    I've tried SODA but I simply couldn't connect to the database. After that, I've tried OLEDB, as I folowed articles on adapting MFC oledb.h to the mobile platform. Useless, because the articles focused only SQL Server CE.
    Anyone can give me a clue how to access the lite database from VC++ 2005?
    Isn't there any library like the Oracle.DataAccess.Lite_wce.dll for the CF.NET I can use?
    Thanks in advance.
    -- Manuel Costa

    Marc,
    Where can I find those libraries? Are they available to download in the Oracle site?
    The SODA Api has very few documentation, only an Oracle HTML document.
    Do you know any links with useful tips and examples I can use?
    By the way, the Soda API I tried implemented the try-catch exception handling using a special lib (not the try-catch available in the standard VC++ 2005). Has this been changed in the more recent versions you pointed out?
    Thanks in advance.

  • How to access to the DB

    Hi
    I want to access to DB by using sql*plus.
    I created schema in https://apex.oraclecorp.com/ .
    Could you tell me how to access to my database tables.
    Best Regards,
    Keita

    Hi Keita,
    apex.oraclecorp.com is an internal Apex instance to Oracle Corporation. As this is a public forum, this is not the place to seek answers like this. I would suggest that you contact the administrators of apex.oraclecorp.com for advice on whether this type of access is available and details if it is.

  • How to assign read only access for a database to a single user?

    Hi All,
    I have created a login for one of the user , and i used deny view to deny that user access to any of the databases to be shown.Now, he cannot see any databases in the explorer window.
    My question is now i want to give this user permission ( read-only) to a single database. How can i do that? I have googled around and found some solutions but nothing is working.
    Can someone please help me with any suggestions.
    Thanks a lot for your time and suggestions in advance.
    Thanks

    Hi Bhanu,
    Thanks for your reply, I am not sure i got it. I have a user created with the name of 'msam_test' and if i login into management studio with this userid and password i dont see any databases showing up because i used the DENY View command to hide which is
    working fine.Now i just want to see only 1 database named 'suresh3_test' with a read only access to this database.
    I tried using your code in the below way
    USE [suresh3_test]
    CREATE USER [<msam_test>] FOR LOGIN [<msam_test>] WITH DEFAULT_SCHEMA=[dbo]
     exec SP_ADDROLEMEMBER 'DB_DATAREADER','<msam_test>'
    But i receive an error saying
    Msg 15007, Level 16, State 1, Line 3
    '<msam_test>' is not a valid login or you do not have permission.
    Msg 15410, Level 11, State 1, Procedure sp_addrolemember, Line 75
    User or role '<msam_test>' does not exist in this database.
    Can you please help me on this.

  • How to access sysobjects and syscolumns on a different database?

    I'm attempting to write a script that iterates over all tables and their columns in all databases resident to a SQL Server connection. I can do either of these but cannot figure out how to merge the two together. The problem is that at the time that the
    table/column information is collected, it comes out of the system tables of the current default database and I can't quite figure out how to change default databases in a way that is acceptable under the current conditions. I can't create and write to the
    many database new stored procedures to handle the changing of default database and I don't want to use undocumented functions.
     but am having trouble prizing the information out of sysobjects, syscolumns and systypes on databases that are not currently the current database in use in order to find all occurrences of some string in all databases, no matter what table or
    column that string resides. One of the things making it harder is that I do not want to generate stored procedures on the fly and add them to the databases being probed so everything has to be accomplished either directly or by executing a sql string.
    There are two obvious approaches to the problem -
    1) Change the current database (Like 'use @DBNameVar' only something that actually works)
    2) Directly access sysobjects, syscolumns and systypes in a different database
    Here's what I have so far - I have figured out how to make a cursor that will list all of the databases and can load that database name into a string variable and I know how to get a listing of all of the tables and columns within a database. I have another
    piece of script that does a great job of probing all of the columns in all of the tables for a string.
    Will the systables allow access if their database is not the current database? If so, what is the syntax? Can you show me what I need to do in my table/column iteration script? Assume, for example, that @DBNameVar contains the name of the database that needs
    to be probed. What is the syntax that will combine that database name with the following script which lists all of the tables/column?
    DECLARE cCursor CURSOR LOCAL FAST_FORWARD FOR
    SELECT
    '[' + usr.name + '].[' + tbl.name + ']' AS tblName,
    '[' + col.name + ']' AS colName,
    LOWER(typ.name) AS typName
    FROM
    -- How can a sysobjects from another database be specified????
    sysobjects tbl
    INNER JOIN(
    syscolumns col
    INNER JOIN systypes typ
    ON typ.xtype = col.xtype
    ON col.id = tbl.id
    LEFT OUTER JOIN sysusers usr
    ON usr.uid = tbl.uid
    WHERE tbl.xtype = 'U'
    AND LOWER(typ.name) IN(
    'char', 'nchar',
    'varchar', 'nvarchar',
    'text', 'ntext'
    ORDER BY tbl.name, col.colorder
    Richard Lewis Haggard

    In addition to Latheesh and Tom solutions, I modified your code to use dynamic sql. It's just a different solution:
    --first create table
    CREATE TABLE tbl ( tblName sysname, colName sysname, typName sysname ) ;
    GO
    --now populate it with dynamic sql
    DECLARE @sql NVARCHAR(max) = N'';
    ; WITH db AS (
    SELECT name
    FROM sys.databases
    SELECT @sql = @sql +
    N' INSERT dbo.tbl ( tblName, colName, typName )
    SELECT
    QUOTENAME(usr.name) + ''.'' + QUOTENAME(tbl.name) AS tblName,
    QUOTENAME(col.name) AS colName,
    LOWER(typ.name) AS typName
    FROM
    -- How can a sysobjects from another database be specified????
    ' + QUOTENAME(db.NAME) + N'.sys.sysobjects tbl
    INNER JOIN(
    ' + QUOTENAME(db.NAME) + N'.sys.syscolumns col
    INNER JOIN ' + QUOTENAME(db.NAME) + N'.sys.systypes typ
    ON typ.xtype = col.xtype
    ON col.id = tbl.id
    LEFT OUTER JOIN ' + QUOTENAME(db.NAME) + N'.sys.sysusers usr
    ON usr.uid = tbl.uid
    WHERE tbl.xtype = ''U''
    AND LOWER(typ.name) IN(
    ''char'', ''nchar'',
    ''varchar'', ''nvarchar'',
    ''text'', ''ntext''
    ORDER BY tbl.name, col.colorder ;
    ' + NCHAR(13)
    FROM db ;
    PRINT @sql ;
    EXEC ( @sql );
    SELECT *
    FROM tbl ;

  • How to access tables/views of an external database provider..

    After much trouble I finally managed to setup a second Database Provider that doesn't display the "0 out of 0 connections are good" error by filling in the "Configuration Class" field with "intradoc.server.DbProviderConfig".
    But now the problem is actually accessing the tables/views in my newly configured external database provider...
    In the Configuration Manager applet when I try to add a new Table or View it only lists the tables contained in the schema of the SystemDatabase database provider (the original one), I've tried running Queries via components trying stuff like SELECT * FROM provider_name.table_name and other similar but obviously it doesn't work...
    So... with that said, I just want to know how I access tables or views in my "supposedly" well conected (15 out of 15 connections are good, no errors on the Test Query) Oracle external Database Provider - After searching I was unable to find any information regading any post-provider-setup actions in the Content Server documentation - Does anyone know how to do this?
    On a side note, if the database is SQLServer instead of Oracle, with the same configuration and apparently no errors on the database side (other clients access it well) the Query Test of the new database provider returns the following error:
    "The provider 'TestSqlSrv' is in error. Unable to create database connection for JDBC:ODBC:SqlSrv. Unable to create result set for query 'select * from dummy'. Invalid Fetch Size Unable to create result set for query 'select * from dummy'. Invalid Fetch Size java.sql.SQLException: Invalid Fetch Size".But I won't even go there yet.... for now I would settle with just knowing how to reference information in the Oracle external database provider...

    if you are able to, pick up Bex Huff's book the Definitive Guite to Stellent Content Server Development (amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/Definitive-Stellent-Content-Server-Development/dp/1590596846/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1196365101&sr=8-1)
    chapter 11 is all about this.

  • VB 2008, CR component and MS Acc: how to access with database(not user) pwd

    These are the detail of the query:
    1. MS Access 2003 and later database via OLE DB provide for entry of a u201Cdatabase passwordu201D to provide additional protection.
    2. In VB 2005 and in VB2008 environment I have managed to establish a connection with a database password and open recordsets using ADO connection. See code below.
    Note. stPassword is user password and stDBPassword is database password with the following code:
    With cnn
              'set connection string
              .ConnectionString "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Password=" & stPassword & ";Data Source=T:\CPI.mdb;User ID=" & stUser & ";Persist Security Info=False;" & "Jet OLEDB:System database=t:\cpi.mdw;Jet OLEDB:Database Password=" & stDBPassword
              .Open()
    End With
    3. When using Crystal Reports component supplied with VS 2008 I can only provide USER NAME and USER PASSWORD. No information is available how and where to enter DATABASE PASSWORD to the Crystal Reports component. As a result, Crystal Reports Viewer starts to run. Obviously access is denied because no DATABASE PASSWORD has been provided to the component. A common dialog comes up to enter database password.
    4. User does not necessarily need know the DATABASE password and I am not interested in providing the database password to every user who runs reports. In this project database password serves as a form of protection from tampering with the database structure and contents through the use MS Access to access the database.
    5. Here is the code to demonstrate logon via Crystal Component described above:
    Imports CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine
    Imports CrystalDecisions.Shared
    And then in a sub:
        Dim cnnInfo As ConnectionInfo = New ConnectionInfo()
        'cnnInfo.DatabaseName = cnn.DefaultDatabase
        cnnInfo.UserID = stUser
        cnnInfo.Password = stPassword
    No place to input DATABASE password!!!
    Does anyone know how can I input database password or provide a connection string or maybe ADO connection object which is opened within the project code.

    It seems like it is not possible to set the DB level password with the CR Visual Studio bundled version (as stated in the following KB c2010267). You would need to use the full version, and use the code below:

    MDW file. In addition, click the 'Advanced' button and
    specify the User ID and password.
