How to add a custom web apps root page?

I saw in Jan 2013 System Update the following:
"Render a custom page when accessing the root URL of a Web App. For example, if you have a “blog” Web App, the items can be made accessible at  /blog/my-blog-post, and you’ll have the ability to customize the /blog page"
Could someone point me in the correct direction for instructions on how to make use of this feature.
Couldn't appear to find a link from the Blog release notes to anything, and also tried trawling through support and forums for a suitable post.
Closest I found was one about using sub-folders for web app items.
I've tried adding a page in website admin, with the same URL as the web app, but it simply throws an error as it clashes with Web App url.
Cheers
Mike

Hi Mike.
Because a folder can have a index.html Web apps in the past you could not access that ability. You had to make a page and you could not SEO call it the same as your web app.
SO
Your web app is called Blog.
You can now make a folder in your root called Blog.
In that folder you can create a page and give it a url of index.html
Now when you access the a web app directly - www.yoursite.com/yourwebapp or www.yoursite.com/yourwebapp/index/html you will access that index page.
You can also put other pages under that folder if you want too.

  • How do I change the Web App Root

    During installation I made a mistake of choosing the compiled output directory as the Wen App Root, whereas it seems that it actually wanted the source directory. Consequently whenever I try to open a source jsp file I get
    Unable to create this part due to an internal error. Reason for the failure:
    The NitroX editor can only be used with the pages located in the Web Application Root directory.
    The Web Application Root directory is the directory containing the WEB-INF folder.
    The text editor is being used instead.
    How do I change the Web App Root directory, I can't find a menu or preference that shows the current value or an ability to establish a new location.

    Does this mean then that you are forced to have a WEB-INF folder sitting beside JSPs you want to edit with NitroX?
    e.g. If my project directory structure looks like this:
    project-root
    |-- dist
    |      |- WEB-INF
    |      |- a.jsp
    |      |- b.jsp
    |-- web
            |- a.jsp
            |- b.jsp[/code:1:daa10af002]
    i.e. I keep my JSP source code in /web but when I run my Ant build the JSPs are copied to the dist directory.
    If I try to edit the files in /web using NitroX I get the error mentioned above. Does this mean I have to make /web the Web App Root directory and thus have to have a WEB-INF folder inside it?

  • How-to add a custom Web Dynpro iView to the MSS Employee Profile

    Hello everybody,
    i have created a small How-to guide of how to add a custom iView/Web Dynpro application to the standard MSS Employee Profile for ECC 6.0.
    The How-to guide can be found <a href="https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/profile/2007/04/15/How-toaddacustomWebDynproiViewtotheMSSEmployee+Profile">here</a>
    I hope its of any value.
    cheers,

    Hello Luca,
    unfortunatelly it wont work. A WDA Application does not have access to the Floorplan Manager for XSS Applications. So until SAP develop an interface, you have to stick for such a task to WDJ.

  • How to add a custom web project to creator?

    I am using Creator EA2. I want to add a custom web project, which is created based on standard web project, to Creator. I wonder if it is possible by creating a jar and put it into a directory or I should develop a plugin with layout description files, templates?
    Thanks
    jnewbie

    If your struts-enabled project is already compatible with Creator (i.e. you can open it in the IDE) you can get close to what you way using the project template facility available in EA2.
    Select Tools->Project Template Manager. From the template manager dialog, click the Add... button and browse to your struts project. The project should appear under the My Templates node in the dialog. Close the dialog and bring up the New Project Wizard. You should see a new project category called My Templates which should contain an entry to your custom project. You can now select this project and proceed through the wizard which will actually clone the project for you as if it were a custom project type.

  • How to add descriptions to web app items?

    How do I add metta data (keywords and descriptions) to my web app items? Do I need to create them as additional custom fields?
    Any help would be appreciated.

    It's ok, I worked it out.  You just add another field - meta description and add the following code to the detail template:
    <html>
        <head>
            <title>{tag_name}</title>
            <meta name="description" content="{tag_meta description}" />
            <meta content="{tag_name}" property="og:title" />
            <meta content="{tag_meta description}" property="og:description" />
        </head>
        <body>
           <h1>{tag_name}</h1>
            <p>{tag_description}</p>
        </body>
    </html>

  • How to Add a Custom FPM App to MSS without Modifying the SAP Content

    Hi,
    I'm trying to add a custom application to MSS, under the General Information page. I've created my own FPM application (to display qualifications) and have added it to the standard FPM application. I've mostly followed this blog - however this involves modifying SAP delivered content:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/wiki?path=/display/profile/how-toaddacustomWebDynproiViewtotheMSSEmployeeProfile%28ECC+6.0%29&
    I would like to be able to find a way to do this without changing the SAP delivered content. Multiple trials with Delta links have proven unsuccessful.
    Has anyone been able to do this or does SAP recommend modifying the SAP delivered content?
    Any help would be appreciated. This issue has been out for a long time.
    Bert

    Thanks Markus.
    Does that mean that SAP recommends that we make our changes to the FPM application that they deliver in the PCD?
    I don't want to have to recreate the same WD applications as what SAP delivers, it would make no sense.
    What will happen in case of an upgrade or a patch from SAP? Will my changes be overwritten?
    We are starting to make those modifications and it doesn't seem like SAP made it simple for us to do so.
    Thanks -
    Bert

  • Designer 2010 - how to add a custom or calculated field ?

    Hello
    I have a list like this:
    [name][course][date][result]
    John Smith, Windows beginners, 01-01-2014, 10
    John Smith, Windows advanced, 02-01-2014, 7
    Jane Doe, Windows beginners, 01-01-2014, 5
    Wanted:
    A list that shows all the people that attended 2 courses and a sum of their results.
    Following the example above:
    John Smith, 17, (2 courses)
    How can you add a custom field in designer? I have been tinkering but can't find it. If I place the cursor in a bottom row of the list, and in the ribbon I choose Options/Formula, I can enter an Xpath expression. But after clicking OK, nothing happens, nothing
    appears.
    Is there a tutorial (for beginners) somewhere on how to add a custom field to a page?
    Thank you!
    D

    I think the easiest way to accomplish this is through using the jQuery SPServices library to call the list items into an array and group by name. Then you can count the number they have done and then also do your calculations.

  • How do i add my access web app into a iframe on a "site page"?

    I just created a MS Access "custom web app", and published it on my site.
    Then i can open the Access form when i click on the link in the menu at my site. The problem is just that it removes my site logo and all the menu's. Well, its like fullscreen.
    What i really want is to show the form in the first page of my site, "Home".
    I have tested insert -> "Embed code", and then enter the following code:
    <iframe src="https://xxxxxx.sharepoint.com/sites/xxx/xxx/databaselist></iframe>
    It just shows this warning: "This content cannot be displayed in a frame"
    Then i found this site: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/officeapps/archive/2012/12/12/iframing-sharepoint-hosted-pages-in-apps.aspx
    Quote:
    SharePoint page developers can opt-out of clickjacking protection by adding the AllowFraming control to their .aspx pages:
    <WebPartPages:AllowFraming runat="server" />
    Well, does anyone here know how to do this with a access form?

  • How to get the physical path of my web app root context ?

    Hi,
    I used this code to initialize my LOG4J logger.
            System.out.println(Version + "Servlet context path : " + sctx .getContextPath());
            String path = sctx .getRealPath("/");
            fullyqualifiedlog4jpath = path + "log4j.xml";
            File locallogxml = new File(fullyqualifiedlog4jpath);
            if (locallogxml.exists()) {
                initialized = true;
                DOMConfigurator.configure(fullyqualifiedlog4jpath);
                log = Logger.getLogger(Log4j.class.getName());
                log.info(Version + "Logger initialized");
            else {
                System.out.println(Version + "Unable to locate the log4j.xml file");
            }It works perfectly when running the application with the embedded Jdev11 WLS.
    When deploying the application on a standalone WLS server the path is not returned ;-( I get a null value.
    Does someone has three lines of code which get the physical path of my web app root context?
    Yves

    Changed the methiod used to access log4j.xml.
            FacesContext ctx = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
            ServletContext sctx = (ServletContext) ctx.getExternalContext().getContext();
            String contextPath = sctx.getContextPath();
            HttpServletRequest  hsr = (HttpServletRequest)ctx.getExternalContext().getRequest();
            String host = hsr.getServerName();
            int port = hsr.getServerPort();
            try
              String urlstring = "http://" + host + ":" + port + contextPath + "/faces/log4j.xml";
              DOMConfigurator.configure(new URL(urlstring));

  • Is it possible to leverage InDesign Server templates in a custom web app?

    Hi there,
    I am building a custom web app and was hoping to leverage our existing InDesign Server templates within our web app. What I would like to do, is based on user input, show my template with the user's input in the browser. I have looked through the API guides for InDesign Server CS6, but I haven't been able to conclusively find anything that will allow me to use the APIs to call the server, send the data points the template requires, and then get an image back from the server.
    I believe this is possible, I am just not sure how to achieve it! Any ideas or articles that help push me in the right direction would be extremely helpful!
    Thank you!
    Marshall

    Yes it's completely possible. There are two parts to making something like this work:
    1. The scripts themselves. You can generally script InDesign Server and desktop InDesign exactly the way using ExtendScript. So that's the part of the process where your script receives variables and passes them into the template and replaces something you've identified as variable, whether text or an image or something else (perhaps a color theme, etc.). You should get your scripts running on desktop before playing around with server.
    2. The messaging between your web app and the server. Whatever language you are using (i.e. PHP, .Net, Java, Ruby…) there is a way to make a SOAP call to InDesign Server to tell it basically "run this script with these parameters". You should get the "hello world" script running from a SOAP call on the server before using your real variable-driven document.
    The documentation of these things is available here:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/indesign/sdk.html
    You need to download the InDesign Server SDK (don't worry if you're on CC and it says CS6, almost nothing changed) and the InDesign Scripting SDK. The Server SDK deals with part #2 above, the Scripting SDK with part #1.
    It really isn't that hard. I should warn you, though, that it is addictive and once you do your first one you will become all-powerful and want to do nothing else. :-)
    Good luck and don't hesitate to ask questions.

  • How can I link a web app item to another via Next link

    I would like to add a next link and previous link on a web app detail layout. Then people can scroll through the detail layout items without going back to the list view.
    I'm creating a portfolio with a description of the project details and links to external websites. There is no tag for that purpose.
    Any suggestions? I'm a bit new at custom web apps and editing the layouts with css.

    Hi,
    you would have to create 2 additional custom fields as text (string) field types and name them something like, "next item url" and "prev item url". Then you would have to enter the next and previous item url manually for each individual web app item. You can include the new tags in the detail view, something like <a href="{tag_prev item url}">Prev</a> and <a href="{tag_next item url}">Next</a>.
    Hope that helps.

  • How to add a custom button in WD screen to call a workflow in siebel?

    Hi All,
    We have a requirement to have a custom button at the summary screen(after the rule execution) "Create Opportunity", on clicking on it a new opportunity record should be created in Siebel. As we know the "Save" link calls "PolicyAutomationSaveSession" inbound web service method and saves the information in session table and we can modify the PreSession and PostSession workflows. But we are not sure how it calls the service method and where is the mapping defined.
    Can you please help me on how to add a custom button and how to invoke a workflow in siebel side to implement this requirement?
    Also is there any document which can help me to add a custom button in screen and to add the code behind the button?
    Thanks in advance!!
    Regards,
    Subhradeep

    Subhradeep,
    Closing a Web Determinations window is essentially the same as closing any HTML window. It involves javascript, which you would have to add to the Web Determinations templates.
    Essentially the javascript command to close a window is {{window.close}} or {{top.close}}
    For timing, you might be able to use the setTimeout function of Javascript (see: http://www.w3schools.com/jsref/met_win_settimeout.asp)
    At the risk of exposing exactly how bad my javascript skills are, I have attached a super-simple html fragment, a page that closes itself after 3 seconds. It may help you get started in the right direction. In general closing a window is a fairly dubious activity and is often not permitted by certain browsers. This html page at least works in Internet Explorer.
    <html>
         <head>
         <script language="JavaScript">
              setTimeout(closeMe, 3000);
              function closeMe() {
                   alert("This window will close");
                   top.close();
         </script>
         </head>
         <body><B>This window will close in three seconds</B></body>
    </html>
    {code}

  • How to add a custom multimedia playback control to add a time line of what is being played?

    How to add a custom skin in multimedia playback control to add a time line of what is being played?  As it is being played...
    I need a time line so any part of the what is being played can be found by time, ie at 1 minute and 30 seconds in and continues for 45 seconds out of a 50 minute audo.

    If you're talking about a playback controller within the rich media annotation (RMA) then you need to write your own widget in Flash or Flex, and then place the video and widget files using the multimedia "Add Flash" tool in Acrobat instead of the "Add Video" tool. Aside from a bunch of proprietary code to handle events, commenting and the API (which you can live without for basic play-pause-scrub applications), video RMAs are just an embedded SWF file containing an FLVPlayback component. The skin and the video file itself are added to the RMA as resource entries. You can build your own version and have it display whatever controls you want, provided you know how to write ActionScript!
    If you're talking about a controller that's external to the RMA (e.g. a series of links or buttons elsewhere on the page) then in the past you would use FLV video files and the 'cue points' feature that's built into Acrobat - however Adobe removed the ability to create FLV files in the latest version of CC, so unless you have CS6 or earlier it's a non-starter. Instead you can manually set playback start points using the special "multimedia operations" link action in your PDF - though stopping playback at a defined point is very difficult without FLV cues. For that you're back to writing your own widget.
