Edited by: Thomas Zloch on Oct 19, 2011 8:18 PMI don't think you quite understand how hibernation mode works.
"The state of a computer is stored into its main memory, which is also called RAM. When a
computer is powered off, the contents of this memory are irremediably wiped out. Hiberna-
tion works in the following way: before being powered off, the computer saves all the con-
tents of the memory to a file on the hard disk drive. On wake up, data stored in this file is
read out and restored to the memory. Therefore, the RAM contents are the same before
and after the hibernation process, and the state of the computer is also the same. The
saved file is named sleepimage, and is located in the /private/var/vm directory. Hi-
bernation is sometimes also called “software suspend” or “suspend to disk”.
The default suspension feature of Mac OS X, called sleep works in a different way. When
entering sleep, every subsystem of the computer is shut down, except the main memory
which is still powered. This process preserves the contents of the memory, and allows the
computer to wake up quickly. However, a sleeping computer still consumes a small
amount of power. Sleep is sometimes also called “hardware suspend” or “suspend to
RAM”.
Apple introduced the safe sleep feature in Mac OS X 10.4.3 for the Powerbook HD line of
laptops. This feature is a variation of the default suspension behavior. The main memory is
still powered during the sleep, but the contents of the memory are also saved to the disk at
the beginning of the operation. The saved file will only be used if the laptop runs out of bat-
tery power while sleeping, in order to restore the original state of the computer.
This safe sleep feature is what makes hibernation possible in Mac OS X 10.4.3 and above."

How to Debug WebDynpro-ABAP application
Hello Friends,
1. How to Debug WebDynpro-ABAP application.
2. What is modal dialog
3. If Component contains more than one view, how to make one view is the default. Is that any way I can hide a view.
4. Is that Component is the highest in the design structure, or any other types available like development components in WebDynpro-Java.
Thanx for Ur time.
Cheers,
SamHi,
As i explained LIMU are subobjects like views as they dont have the seperate identity in repository so they have to be linked thru there parent component.
So when you transport whole component u can see there would be some entries in your transport list as LIMU types ( for views , windows).
OTR are text elements which u create for the elements of your view so u dont require to hardcode the text to be displayed as they need to be displayed in different languages so what you do is you create say button and for text to be displayed you create on OTR element under some package. now you give this package to your translation team to do all needed translations.
Yes DDIC types are from dictionary only but when you transport them so all newly created DDIC should also be transported.
P.S -> Pleas close this thread if satisfied with all questions.
Thanks

How to clear webdynpro ABAP cache ?
Hi,
Please advise me on how to clear webDynPro ABAP Cache data ?
Scenario as most of you might be knowing:
1>We retreive data from the the table using query stmt. For ex: Creating an employee
2>When we want to update/terminate the same employee on same day giving us short dump
We checked in the backend that employee has been sucessfully onboarded and offboarded/updated without any dump.
I guess it has something to do with clearing the cache/memory on each operation(create/update/delete)
So, I got some transaction code:SWFVISU where we can maintain the cache configuration. But I'm not sure whether we can use the same.
Is there anyway we can avoid the cache issue.
Thanks

WD(ABAP) - Oncheck Event by Interactive Form
Accessing Adobe Lifecycle Designer through Web Dynpro workplace will provide you with a set of fields in a special library called "Web Dynpro", in which I find some interesting element. Most of them are mentioned in the following place:
<a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/1e/05853ff8ec2c17e10000000a114084/frameset.htm">http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/1e/05853ff8ec2c17e10000000a114084/frameset.htm</a>
As I understood, the script within field triggers a Web Dynpro event allowing developer to realize the value check, search help functions in PDF. For example: the "Check Field" button delivers the code:
app.eval("event.target.SAPCheckFields();");
In Netweaver developer Studio, an Oncheck event is linked with Interactive Form, you find it under the event property. However I cannot find the same event in Web Dynpro ABAP. Does it mean Web Dynpro ABAP doesn't support the oncheck event of interactive form?
I have tried to drag and drop a Check Field button on the form. When I click it at runtime, IE returns error message. Looking into ST22, The exception is CX_WDR_ADAPTER_UNKNOWN_EVENT' was raised.
Does somebody have clue? I appreciated your help on this. It's ugly, but it's true:
At this point in time, Web Dynpro for ABAP has only one Interactive-Forms-specific standard event (compared to the 2 in Java), which is the Submit event. I am hoping that both Web Dynpro worlds will be on the same level in terms of features in the next release.

Validation of context attributes with adaptive webservice model
Hi, I am creating a Web Dynpro Java application (on top of Netweaver AS 7.0) using an adaptive webservice model to invoke a webservice.
The webservice has some request attributes of type string with limited length (for example limited to 1 character). I bound the model to component controller context and created a mapping between the component controller context and view context. In the view, I created a form which is bound to the context attributes.
When user enters string values, which are longer than the maximum length specified in webservice WSDL, and submits the form, an exception is thrown when Web Dynpro runtime is trying to assign entered values into context attributes:
com.sap.dictionary.runtime.DdCheckException: Length of character string "abcdef" must be smaller than or same as MaxLength 1;
at com.sap.dictionary.runtime.DdTypeString.checkValid(DdTypeString.java:195)
at com.sap.tc.webdynpro.model.webservice.base.model.BaseGenericModelClass.setAttributeValue(BaseGenericModelClass.java:304)
at com.sap.tc.webdynpro.model.webservice.gci.WSTypedModelClass.setAttributeValue(WSTypedModelClass.java:62)
at at.gov.bmf.demo.comp.employee.model.OrganizationalAssignment.setEmployeeGroup(OrganizationalAssignment.java:52)
at at.gov.bmf.demo.comp.employee.wdp.IPublicEmployeeDemo$IOrganizationalAssignmentElement.wdSetObject(IPublicEmployeeDemo.java:1552)
... 32 more
This exception is thrown before my non-validating action is executed, so I am not able to prevent it or handle it.
Is there any way how to catch this exception or prevent it?
Does anyone know where these model restrictions are stored? I searched the XML files generated for the model, but I haven't found anything. Does the Web Dynpro runtime access WSDL everytime it needs to validate request parameters?
Thanks,
TomasNo ,This is the preferred and safer way to separate the Model Node and and Input Node and relationship between them by using mapping.
You create your context structure for input and then on action set user input to model data.
Safer it means : Sometimes it happen that model data not populated properly due to network or wrong user input etc ,this time our presentation will be safe and display the proper error message rather the screen went away with null pointer exception.
Regarding your - it require a lot of work. It too much convince for us that rather than writing 50 lines of code
for only input length validation WebDynpro provides us a better model driven solution.

Using dynamic context attributes with flashisland
I recently started looking at flashislands.
Going through the SDN tutorials on this topic, I noticed that the declarations of GACDATASOURCE and GACPROPERTY properties inside web dynpro and their counterpart variables inside flex are a bit static (all naming and binding is done at design time).
So I'm asking if there's a way inside flex to dynamically capture the values of the attributes of a web dynpro context node that is bound to an ArrayCollection variable inside flex without knowing the names and the amount of the attributes of the context node?
Here's my situation:
I have a context node (REPORT_DATA) inside web dynpro that at design time has no attributes.
The attributes and their names are created dynamically at runtime.
It is even so, that over time the amount of attributes may vary.
Inside the web dynpro, the contents of this context node (REPORT_DATA) are shown in a (dynamically built) table.
Besides using the table, I'm trying to show the same contents as a piechart and as a columnchart in a flashisland.
The ROOTUIELEMENTCONTAINER of the FlashIsland view in web dynpro only contains a GACDATASOURCE element at design time.
The 'dataSource' property of this GACDATASOURCE is bound to the context node REPORT_DATA.
The 'name' property of this GACDATASOURCE is bound to an ArrayCollection variable inside flex (named dataSource).
So much for the static part created at design time.
At runtime inside web dynpro the correct GACPROPERTY's are created, based on the - over time changing - amount and the names of the context node.
Suppose my REPORT_DATA context node at runtime starts with 3 attributes: ATTR1, ATTR2 and ATTR3
Also suppose the node contains 2 elements: [ {"1_1", "1_2", "1_3"} , {"2_1", "2_2", "2_3"} ]
The dataSource variable inside flex also contains 2 entries with 3 elements each.
The code to show the value of (for example) the first element of all entries inside the ArrayCollection variable would be:
+for each( var o:Object in dataSource) {
var s:String = o.ATTR1;
Alert.show( "the 1st value = " + s ); // 1_1 for the first entry, 1_2 for the second
}+
I can then use the myAC variable inside flex as dataprovider for various other objects.
This works fine.
But inside flex I can only capture the value of an attribute when I know its name at design time (like ATTR1 in the sample code above).
And that's not what I want.
Inside flex I want to capture the value of the context attributes dynamically in a (correctly typed) flex variable without knowing the names and the amount of the context attributes.
Is this possible?
Thanks in advance for - any - response.
Bart.Hi again,
I tried the same thing by creating a dummy context node without any attributes, and adding all attributes at runtime using the add_attribute method. In that case too, it doesnt work. All the attributes are available in the dynamic attributes of the node element, but are not getting displayed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

How to find out which context attributes are mapped to view elements
Hi All,
We have a custom WD application ( on ECC 6.0 - SAP Basis 70 ) where we have a context node whose 70 attributes are displayed over 2 seperate views.
When a user enters the view, we want to inform him which data was changed.
I have written a general method which takes the context node, grabs its attributes and compares values ... messages are generated via the message manager and context element/attributes are linked so that the input elements become red.
Everything works fine but the only problem is that I do not know which attributes are visible on which view so the user is getting the changes of view 2 on view 1 and vice versa ( if the context is only mapped on 1 view then there is no issue ofcourse ).
The call is currenlty executed at the views inbound plug ... I also checked the view methods themselves like modify view but nothing seems to lead me to a potential solution ...
I have looked through almost all API classes available but I cannot find any way to obtain information about the linking of view elements with context elements/attributes during runtime ... And I don't want to 'hardcode' a list of context attributes per view ....
Has anyone done something similar ?
Thanks,

How to call Webdynpro ABAP from Widget
Hello guys,
I want to add an icon to my widget with a link to a webdynpro ABAP application.
However, the link is dependent on the system the user is accessing.
So, I'd like to know if it's possible and what's the best method to do it.
1. is it possible to call a Transcation or a RFC that calls a WebDynpro from the Widget?
or
2. is it possible to retrieve the Widget's default system parameters and assemble the Webdynpro URL dynamically?
Any more ideas?
Thank you and best regards,

Problem with interactive forms using ABAP
Hi all,
I am trying to create an interactive adobe form using ABAP in ECC 6.0. But while execute the form, it is creating an error saying that
Exception SYSTEM_ERROR

Message:
ADS: The render error log file has been written to D:\u(200101)
But i was able to create adobe interactive form using WebDynpro and its working perfectly. But the problem is while using ABAP method.
Do anyone have an idea why its happening?
Thanks and Regards,
Raja SekharHi
Interactive Forms based on Adobe software is SAP's new solution for forms development. Its first release has the focus on interactive use of forms. High-volume printing is supported in principle, but - being a new solution - the performance has not yet reached the same level as Smart Forms or SAPscript, two established solutions that had years to grow. Interactive Forms is the only solution that will continue to be enhanced with new features, while SAPscript and Smart Forms will be supported without limitations.
When (or if) to move to Interactive Forms depends on your requirements. For interactive forms usage, i.e. the new functions, you have no choice, as the existing solutions don't support it. High-volume print scenarios need to be carefully analyzed to see whether your concrete requirements can be met at this point.
However, it is possible to move to Smart Forms and design your forms in such a way that a migration at any point in the future would be but a small step. Smart Forms offers from Web AS 6.40 a migration wizard to Interactive Forms. Technically, everything can be migrated, but we recommend against things like ABAP program nodes, for example.
You are not forced to ever go to Interactive Forms if you don't want to. It really depends on whether your client needs any of the new features in Interactive Forms. Also, if they are currently working with JetForms, they could enquire with Adobe directly what migration path they offer to the joint solution.
It is impossible to make a blanket statement on what needs to be done in each of the applications using a form for output. Despite the same underlying technology, forms handling has always been a decision for each SAP application: Some do it through customizing, some through coding, some in yet anither way.
What I CAN say from a technology pespective is that all applications are in the process of creating their forms based on Interactive Forms so that by 2007 pretty much all SAP forms will be PDF-based. Obviously, each application does it within the framework of their application - but they all use Interactive Forms.
By the way, be aware that in ERP 2004 this forms solution is subject to a limitation for high-volume printing scenarios as we cannot ensure that ALL customers will be content with the performance in ALL scenarios with this release. (see SAP Note 863893).
To get an overview idea about Adobe forms ,
Using SFP , first you need to create a interface . in interface you can declare the import and export parameters and also the declaration part, coding etc : This is nothing but similar to Function module interface.
And now we have to create the Form which is interactive. Create the form and enter the interface name which you have created in first step, so that the parameters , declarations of fields etc : will be copied and available in the form layout. So that you can drag and drop these declared fields ( dclared fields of interface ) to the layout.
Create the context and layout in the form.
The layout generated can be previewed and saved as PDF output.
Now we need to integrate the driver program and the PDF form to get the final output as per the requirement.
On activating and executing the form you will get a function module name just similar to smartforms.
The driver program needs to call this FM.
