How to call a form in Oracle Portal?

I'm trying to call a form from my corporate Oracle Portal. Can anyone advice me how to do it?
Thanks and Regards.

Alex,
you are not providing enough information, making it not easy to provide a short answer without going down the whole tree of possibilities.
Case1: You want it appear as a link in Oracle Portal.
a) You can use the "myfavorite" portlet, which is a kind of bookmark list that can be managed by each user individually.
b) you ca create a content area and make it to appear as a type URL. Then you define it as a portlet.
c) You create a HTML page with all the forms links in it and use the URLServices portlet or teh HTML portlet
Case2: You want it to appear within the portal as a portlet.
In this case you choose the URL Services. URL services are a part of the Portal Development Kit and in there a part of the Java Portal Development kit.
It is not recommended to integrate Forms as a Portlet in Portal (CASE2) but to start it from a link (CASE 1) for this reasons:
- http accept-header misses Browser type information information
- Forms startup time slows down portal page startup
- SSO doesn't work straight away
- Forms9i, because based on java 1.3, will reload Forms when reloading the portal page, loosing the application context (this is not yet an issue with Forms6i).
Of course, you can have it working as a portlet and I did it in the past, but it will require some work to do that is not yet documented (and probably never will).
Cheers
Frank

  • Integrating apex form with oracle portal

    Afternoon friends,
    I have got a senario like integrating apex form with oracle portal.I dont have any idea on oracle portals.so please let me know the basic steps on how to go ahead to integrate apex forms with oracle portal and for that what i need to have apart with my database and apex.

    Hello
    Couldn't see my previous post... so here it is again
    We have integrated Apex into Oracle Portal
    Here's how we did it.
    In the portal page, we have created an Element region with the following code:
    <script language="Javascript">
       <!--
       function changeIframeHeight(){
          var ifrmObj = document.getElementById('apexIframe');
          if(ifrmObj) {
             if(navigator.appName=='Microsoft Internet Explorer') { //IE
                ifrmObj.height = ifrmObj.contentWindow.document.body.scrollHeight+20;
             else {
                ifrmObj.style.height = ifrmObj.contentWindow.document.body.offsetHeight+50;
       //-->
    </script>
    <p><iframe width="100%" height="500" frameborder="0" onload="javascript: changeIframeHeight();" src="/pls/apex/f?p=115:10" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" name="apexIframe" id="apexIframe"></iframe></p>You just have to make sure that the name and id of the iFrame and the elementId in the javascript are the same.
    And change the SRC so that it point you application.
    Hope that helped you.

    Hello,
    I mistakenly mark it as solved. There is a problem remain. when i placed the code below it do not execute with the where condition. I mean the condition to execute is not work.
    All records executes. Please correct my code--
    Here the WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED-trigger on the Edit-Button:
    :GLOBAL.MODE:='EDIT';
    :GLOBAL.REQ_ID:=:PROBLEM_REQUEST.REQ_ID;
    CALL_FORM('REQUEST_ID_PARAM',NO_HIDE,DO_REPLACE,NO_QUERY_ONLY);And also, WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE-trigger of REQUEST_ID_PARAM:
    DEFAULT_VALUE(NULL, 'GLOBAL.MODE');
    DEFAULT_VALUE(NULL, 'GLOBAL.REQ_ID');
    IF :GLOBAL.MODE='EDIT' THEN

  • How to call the form bean value on jsp withthe help of jstl tag

    hi
    all friends
    i am working in struts & i use jstl tag in jsp. i have one problem rise is how to call the form bean value in jsp page by using jstl tag.
    i now how to retrive the value through jsp:logic
    eg. <logic:empty name="userListForm" property="users">
    NO USER FOUND
    </logic:empty>
    see * userListForm mean formbaen name.
    * users means collection object.
    so how can i write above e.g in jstl

    You use the jstl core:if or core:choose combined with the EL:
    <c:if test="${empty users.userListForm}">
    NO USERS FOUND
    </c:if>I suggest you lookup the jsp expression language (EL) using google, it's very powerful.

    Secondly, you used capital latters which are being treated as Shouting Language. So, always try to switch off the Capslock of your keyboard.
    Thirdly, you are very lazy to serach on forum or google for your problem instead of waiting someone to anwer your question.
    Your should seriously have a look at FAQ.

  • How to call a form from WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT 10g  Is this possible?????

    how to call a form from WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT
    I would like to call a form using the WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT the idea is from the menu that is attached to the form instead of use call_form use WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT(...my_newform.fmx)
    Is this possible?????

    Hi ,
    I think yes...but under some circumstances....
    In your formsweb.cfg file you should define a named configuration alias... such as:
    [TEST]
    workingDirectory=C:\TEST_DIR
    form=C:\TEST_DIR\MY_NEWFORM.FMX
    Then , after stopping , starting your OC4J instance..... you call that as (in a button , for example):
    web.show_document('http:<your_server>:<port>/forms/frmservlet?config=[TEST]',_blank);
    I have not tested it.....

  • How to debug a form module (Oracle 11G Forms) through URL

    How to debug a form module (Oracle 11G Forms) through URL.
    My server OS is Unix. So i could not able to do the Debug Forms from the Form Developer.
    It is displaying a message that "Cannot find the module". Becuase the system is trying find out the module in Unix system instead of ma local system(Windows).
    I need to debug ma module through URL.
    I can place the fmb and fmx in predefined form path in Server.
    Please help me out to solve this issue..

    This is a little unclear. If your goal is to use the Forms Builder Debugger while running your form on a Unix machine, this can be done. However, the form must first be in running order. So before trying to attach the debugger you must first be able to start it without the debugger. For example:
    http://yourServer:OHS_port_number/forms/frmservlet?form=yourFMX
    Once this is properly running you can turn on debugging. If your form won't even start, then using the Debugger isn't going to help you because it is designed to troubleshoot coding problems and not configuration problems.
    So, do this to use the Debugger:
    http://yourServer:OHS_port_number/forms/frmservlet?form=yourFMX&debug=yes
    This will display a dialog box with some information. Do not click on OK yet as you will need this information to enter into the Forms Builder. Now, open the Forms Builder and click on Debug > Attach Debug. You will be asked for the information displayed in the dialog where you attempted to start the form. Enter it here (in the Builder) then click on ok in both places. To display the Debugger (in the Builder), click on Debug > Debug Console. Then from its toolbar click on the buttons related to what you want to monitor. Including a break point in your application code is often a more helpful way to use the debugger.
    Most of this information is explained in the Forms Builder Online Help
    Forgot to mention...
    To debug runtime issues, refer to the Forms Deployment Guide here (this assumes you are using 11.1.2):

  • Search form  to Oracle PortalAS

    hello,
    what is the best and fast practice to create a search form to oracle portal..?

    If I read your requirements correct, you want end users to be able to search in data within database tables - right?
    The search portlets will not help you in this case as they only search content in Oracle Portal, i.e. text items, file items etc. It will not go into the database and query tables.
    If you only need to search one table, you might want to play around with a Portal report. You can personalize the report to allow end users to use conditional statements on each of the columns in your table.

  • How to deploy forms on oracle portal

    Hello everybody
    I developed some forms in a client/server mode,recently I installed O9iAS(minimal edition(including HTTPserver and oracle portal)).I would like to use those forms on the internet.Its not very clear to me what I am supposed to do next.Can I install form server on the node which is currently running O9iAS?(portal and HTTP server),is it necessary to do a fresh installation of O9iAS(enterprise edition,which includes form server?).I would also appreciate any help regarding necessary configuration tips.
    Best Rgds
    sabasaba

    your best bet would be to do a full install of Oracle9iAS. This will install the Forms server for you and configure everything. It will save you a lot of configuration probems.
