How to change SysMenu in java?

I was a MFC user, and now moved to java.
but I have no idea on "change system menu" in java
system menu is the popup menu when press<Alt>+<Space>
thx a lot!

You'll need to use the Java Native Interface (JNI) to get access to the system menu. Have a look at the following links to learn more about JNI (Sun's JNI tutorial) and for an example of a class that makes use of the JNI to call Windows API calls (for the second link see view the article A Windows-Specific Java Utility Class.

  • How to change a setting in the Java Control Panel with command line

    Hi,
    I am trying to figure out how to change a setting in the Java Control Panel with command line or with a script. I want to enable "Use SSL 2.0 compatible ClientHello format"
    I can't seem to find any documentation on how to change settings in the Java Control Panel via the command line
    Edited by: 897133 on Nov 14, 2011 7:15 AM

    OK figured it out. This is for the next person seeking the same solution.
    When you click on the Java Control Panel (found in the Control panel) in any version of Windows, it first looks for a System Wide Java Configuration (found here: C:\Windows\Sun\Java\Deployment). At this point you must be wondering why you don't have this folder (C:\Windows\Sun\Java\Deployment) or why its empty. Well, for an enterprise environment, you have to create it and place something in it - it doesn't exist by default. So you'll need a script (I used Autoit) to create the directory structure and place the the two files into it. The two files are "deployment.properties" and "deployment.config".
    Example: When you click on the Java Control Panel it first checks to see if this directory exists (C:\Windows\Sun\Java\Deployment) and then checks if there is a "deployment.config". If there is one it opens it and reads it. If it doesn't exist, Java creates user settings found here C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment on Windows 7.
    __deployment.config__
    It should look like this inside:
    *#deployment.config*
    *#Mon Nov 14 13:06:38 AST 2011*
    *# The First line below specifies if this config is mandatory which is simple enough*
    *# The second line just tells Java where to the properties of your Java Configuration*
    *# NOTE: These java settings will be applied to each user file and will overwrite existing ones*
    deployment.system.config.mandatory=True
    deployment.system.config=file\:C\:/WINDOWS/Sun/Java/Deployment/deployment.properties
    If you look in C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment on Windows 7 for example you will find "deployment.properties". You can use this as your default example and add your settings to it.
    How?
    Easy. If you want to add *"Use SSL 2.0 compatible ClientHello format"*
    Add this line:
    deployment.security.SSLv2Hello=true
    Maybe you want to disable Java update (which is a big problem for enterprises)
    Add these lines:
    deployment.javaws.autodownload=NEVER
    deployment.javaws.autodownload.locked=
    Below is a basic AutoIt script you could use (It compiles the files into the executable. When you compile the script the two Java files must be in the directory you specify in the FileInstall line, which can be anything you choose. It will also create your directory structure):
    #NoTrayIcon
    #RequireAdmin
    #Region ;**** Directives created by AutoIt3Wrapper_GUI ****
    #AutoIt3Wrapper_UseX64=n
    #EndRegion ;**** Directives created by AutoIt3Wrapper_GUI ****
    Func _JavaConfig()
         $ConfigFile_1 = @TempDir & "\deployment.properties"
         $ConfigFile_2 = @TempDir & "\deployment.config"
         FileInstall ("D:\My Documents\Autoit\Java config\deployment.properties", $ConfigFile_1)
    FileInstall ("D:\My Documents\Autoit\Java config\deployment.config", $ConfigFile_2)
         FileCopy($ConfigFile_1, @WindowsDir & "\Sun\Java\Deployment\", 9)
         FileCopy($ConfigFile_2, @WindowsDir & "\Sun\Java\Deployment\", 9)
         Sleep(10000)
         FileDelete(@TempDir & "\deployment.properties")
         FileDelete(@TempDir & "\deployment.config")
    EndFunc
    _JavaConfig()
    Now if you have SCUP and have setup Self Cert for your organization, you just need to create a SCUP update for JRE.

  • How to change the icon for 'windows group' in Java 1.6 [Windows XP] ?

    Hello,
    I was wondering if there is a possibility to change the icon for 'windows group' in Java 1.6...
    I'm using Windows XP SP2. Now the windows from my Java 1.6 application are grouped with the standard Sun icon [screen below] on the group.
    http://img382.imageshack.us/img382/8995/iconbl1.png
    I would like to change the icon for my own. Is there a way to do that ?
    Please help.

    Whichever icon I use for the main frame (I tried few), after grouping the main frame and other sub-frames the icon is changed to standard 'Java Sun' icon as you can see in the screenshot from my first post. The problem occurs only when frames are grouped, when the are separated in the task bar their titles and icons are ok...
    So how can I change the icon/title for the group only (for Java 1.6 in Windows XP) ?

    Hi,
    I am using Sun Java Studio Creator 2 Update 1 IDE, in this IDE how to change the source level to 1.5 for an existing project.
    Thanks in advance,
    Rajesh.

    Hi!
    Unfortunately Sun Java Studio Creator 2 Update 1 doesn't support 1.5 source level. But You can try to download NetBeans IDE (from http://www.netbeans.org) and there with Visual Web project You will find the same functionality as for Creator. And 1.5 source level is supported by NetBeans.
    Thanks,

  • How to change heap memory size for general java applications (not applets)

    Hi. I made a java class which manipulates images and I sometimes get an out of memory error when the files are large. In these cases I can run it successfully from the command line using:
    java -Xms32m -Xmx128m myappbut as I run this class from a firefox extension, I can't use this technique.
    Could some one tell me how to set this globally? I've found a lot of info on setting it for applets in the control panel but that's it. I also tried editing my deployment.properties file by adding:
    deployment.javapi.jre.1.6.0_11-b03.args=-Xmx128mbut none of these options seem to work.
    Thanks for any help.

    Also you can use use [JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS|http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/jvmti/jvmti.html#tooloptions], with more documentation here. JAVA_TOOLS_OPTIONS is available since 1.5. There is no direct documentation on [_JAVA_OPTIONS|http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/2d/flags.html] but was made available since at least 1.3.
    The recent existing forum thread [Java Programming - How to change the default memory limits for java.|http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5368323&messageID=10615245&start=36] has a long discussion on the issue.
    You specified you are not using applets, but if you do, I would also suggest you use the next Generation Plug-in (since 1.6.0_10) that allows you specify the max memory in the applet without having to instruct the user how to make the change. See [JAVA_ARGUMENTS|https://jdk6.dev.java.net/plugin2/#JAVA_ARGUMENTS] for applets. Java Webstart uses resources.

  • How can I change the Jframe Java help Icon

    How can I change then Jframe Java help Icon?.
    I am using then HelpSet class and HelpBroker.
    I want to change the java help icon
    Any Idea? thanks. ...

    It can be done, but it's ugly...
    Add in a listener to your topmost JFrame to sense when the focus is lost, since this happens when a help window comes up. When the focus leaves the main window, check all the windows that are up to see if one is a help window. If so, this will give you a reference to the help window and you can drill down to change what you want.
    Here's an example that changes the icon and removes the borders from the javahelp buttons.
    WindowListener wndCloser = new WindowAdapter() {
              //A necessarily roundabout method to affect
              //look and feel aspects of the javahelp viewer.
              //(there is no way to get at these components directly.)
              //When the main frame loses focus, it may be because
              //the help viewer was brought up. Look through all
              //the current frames to see if one is a help viewer.
              //If it is, change the look of the help viewer
              //to what we want.
              Frame m_helpFrame = null;
              public void windowDeactivated(WindowEvent e) {
              if (m_helpFrame != null)
                   return;
              Frame[] frames = getFrames();
              for (int k = 0; k < frames.length; k++) {
                   if (!(frames[k] instanceof JFrame))
                   continue;
                   JFrame jf = (JFrame)frames[k];
                   if (jf.getContentPane().getComponentCount()==0)
                   continue;
                   Component c = jf.getContentPane().
                   getComponent(0);
                   if (c == null || !(c instanceof JHelp))
                   continue;
                   m_helpFrame = jf;
                   //now that we know the Frame, we can change the title icon
                   final Image image2 = <your icon here>
                   m_helpFrame.setIconImage(image2);
                   JHelp jh = (JHelp)c;
                   for (int s=0; s<jh.getComponentCount(); s++) {
                   c = jh.getComponent(s);
                   if (c == null || !(c instanceof JToolBar))

    There is a workaround to move from 1.5 version to the older 1.4 version. But this could be specific to the browser setting the JRE version.
    Excerpts from sun docs:
    However, a user can still run older versions. To do so, launch the Java Plug-in Control Panel for the older version, then (re)select the browser in the Browser tab.
    Example:
    Assume you are running on Microsoft Windows with Microsoft Internet Explorer, have first installed version 1.4.2, then version 5.0, and you want to run 1.4.2.
    Go to the j2re1.4.2\bin directory where JRE 1.4.2 was installed. On a Windows default installation, this would be here: C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2\bin
    Double-click the jpicpl32.exe file located there. It will launch the control panel for 1.4.2.
    Select the Browser tab. Microsoft Internet Explorer might still appear to be set (checked). However, when 5.0 was installed, the registration of the 1.4.2 JRE with Internet Explorer was overwritten by the 5.0 JRE.
    If Microsoft Internet Explorer is shown as checked, uncheck it and click Apply. You will see a confirmation dialog stating that browser settings have changed.
    Check Microsoft Internet Explorer and click Apply. You should see a confirmation dialog.
    Restart the browser. It should now use the 1.4.2 JRE for conventional APPLET tags.
    Details are here

    My system (Windows XP) has the version 1.5_09 set as the default. However i just installed JRE 1.5_06 and would like to revert back to _06 as the default JRE..
