How to compile form orginal file(*.fmb) in UNIX environment
These days, i encounter a problem, i create a form application in Windows2000 or WindowsXP environment, then i compile this .fmb file to .fmx, then i transport this .fmx file to Unix environment which is our Application Server, the Oracle Application Server is in this Unix environment, i put this file in the directory which is directed in the Forms_Path variable, however, when i started to run this application by entering a valid url, the message shows that this fmx file is not runtime file, someone told me that i should recompile the orginal file under unix environment, so i transport the orginal file(.fmb) to unix environment, then i want to use the f90genm tool to compile the .fmb file, however, it shows that this command can not execute, it shows that can not open a lib file under:/project/.../../..,however, this directory does not exist at all, what case this error? i also use f90gen command, it shows: can not execute/finish creation, i want to know, how to use the two commands and what parameters i should set before using the commands? thanks
If you are talking about forms 10g then here is the method
1) run x windows interface on your machine
2) login to linux server
$ export DISPLAY=<IP address of machine>:0.0
$ frmcmp.sh module_type=form module=myform.fmb userid=user/password@connectstring compile_all=yes

How to compile a single file in a project
I have placed my java connector file called "xxxTargetconnector .class" in the below mentioned path
D:\FSCM9DMO\webserv\FSCMDMO9\applications\peoplesoft\PSIGW\WEB-INF\classes\com\peoplesoft\pt\integrationgateway\targetconnector
I have converted the above class file in to a java file using a decompiler. Now i would like to recompile the java file to get the byte code. This class file imports many class files from jar files which is placed in the below mentioned path.
D:\FSCM9DMO\webserv\Cybersource.
Before compiling i set the path to include the jar files
for ex , set path = D:\FSCM9DMO\webserv\Cybersource
For compilation i went to the below path using command prompt and compiled the particular file.
D:\FSCM9DMO\webserv\FSCMDMO9\applications\peoplesoft\PSIGW\WEB-INF\classes\com\peoplesoft\pt\integrationgateway\targetconnector>javac xxxTargetConnector.java
Unfortunately i got around 99 errors saying
xxxTargetConnector.java:187: cannot find symbol
symbol : variable Logger
location: class com.peoplesoft.pt.integrationgateway.targetconnector.xxxTargetConnector
How to compile a single file in a project ?According to [http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/tools/windows/javac.html], "As a special convenience, a class path element containing a basename of * is considered equivalent to specifying a list of all the files in the directory with the extension .jar or .JAR. I have never tried using this feature.
So if all of your dependent classes are in in jar files that are in D:\FSCM9DMO\webserv\Cybersource, a command like the following should work.
javac -cp D:\FSCM9DMO\webserv\Cybersource\* xxxTargetConnector.java
Note that setting your operating system path variable has no impact on where Javac looks for dependent classes. -

how to compile a java file which is in memory?
such as:
String s="class MyClass {....}";
how to compile the string?
thxcome on ...That was a perfectly valid solution.
Do you know how to call the sun.* compiler? If not then search the forums for it. If that interface still exists (which it might not in newer versions) you then will create a string stream from your class and pass it to that. -

Release 6i and 1.0.2.2 is as you know desupported.

How to compile a java file(Servlet) in J2EE v1.3.1
This is my first time using J2EE instead of J2SE!!HOw to compile a java file in J2ee\bin because there is no javac in j2ee and when i compile in J2se i got
G:\j2sdk1.4.1_01\bin>javac HelloServlet.java
HelloServlet.java:2: package javax.servlet does not exist
import javax.servlet.*;
This mean it doen;t support servlet in J2se!!so how can /what command to compile a servlet java file in j2ee.ThanksYou'll need to add the j2ee.jar to your classpath. Usually you'll have to add some jars from your app server to your classpath as well.
For example (using weblogic):
javac -classpath c:\java\j2ee\j2ee1.3.1\lib\j2ee.jar;c:\tools\appserver\weblogic\wl7.1\lib\weblogic.jar

Hi All,
I am extending a seeded CO and when I try to compile it in JDev , it asks for many class files the seeded CO imports.
I have copied all those imported files to my local system and when I try to compile , it still throws an error that some class files used by the classes imported in seeded CO are missing. Now this goes on and on. ( Seems entire server needs to be on my local system).
Now I decided to port the custom CO to server and compile it there. Even this seems to be a hard task for me as the javac command is not working on the server. It throws following exception
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.ClassFormatError: com.sun.tools.javac.main. Main (erroneous method access flags)......................................
Pls suggest how to compile a java file , as downloading entire server classes is a herculean task for me.
Thanks,
SrikanthHi Avajain & D.Ram ,
Thanks for the reply.
I have downloaded around 70 dependent class files to local system. Now the CO is getting compiled correctly.
I am extending a region level controller in Payroll page where in I have to default the salary to a predefined value.
This field is having a VO attribute to it. Now can I go ahead and set a value to the MessageTextInput or should I extend the VO to replace the desired value in the place of already queried value.
Thanks,
Srikanth -

How to compile form in Linux?
Hi guys,
I am developing using forms builder 6i on windows xp.
The application server is on Linux.
Should I recompile my form on Linux?
If so then can you please detail the step in how to do so? Because I am really unfamiliar with Linux.
What command should I run? where do I run the said command? etc.
Thanks
JimJim
Should I recompile my form on Linux? A. If you plan to run it on an iAS server that is Linux then Yes.
Is you application server Linux and is it possible you could compile it there?
Script to compile on the iAS server
#UNIX Forms Compile
#compile_forms.sh
export FORMS_PATH=/u01/app/oracle/product/apps/<your_directory>
export DISPLAY=localhost:2.0
#export NLS_LANG=AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8
export TERM=vt220
export ORACLE_TERM=vt220
export FORMS_BUILDER_CLASSPATH=/u01/app/oracle/product/apps/<your_directory>
for i in `ls /u01/app/oracle/product/apps/afs_dev/your.fmb`
do
echo Compiling Form $i ....
frmcmp_batch.sh userid=username/password@oracle_sid batch=yes module=$i module_type=form
compile_all=yes window_state=minimize
done
# May Need to modify $ORACLE_HOME/frmcmp_batch.sh to include FORMS_PATH and other environment variables.
# Copy the frmcmp_batch.sh to /home/oracle or the directory you prefer.
Replace your.fmb and <your_directory> with the correct form name and path -
How do you compile multiple class files in a unix cmd prompt?
I have been using Java for a few years now, but for some reason I have a course that requires us to compile/run and hand-in our java assignments using Unix...
I know how to compile a simple program on unix with a single source file, but how the heck do you compile and run a program with say... 2 or more sources files linked together?
I really doubt the answer is just type
javac java1.java
javac java2.java
javac java3.java
and then running the source file with the main in it.
Hopefully someone here can help me.
Thanks
Rogerokay, well I took some time to read up online how to do this and I guess i'll answer my own post just in case someone else wants to know the answer.
2 ways I found were:
1)For example, you can list all of the source file names in a file named sourcefiles. This file might look like:
MyClass1.java
MyClass2.java
MyClass3.java
You could then run the compiler with:
% javac @sourcefiles
2)Or if all the files are in the same directory you can do this:
This example compiles all the source files in the package greetings.
% ls
greetings/
% ls greetings
Aloha.java GutenTag.java Hello.java Hi.java
% javac greetings/*.java
If that is confusing to read I found all the answers from this webpage:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/docs/tooldocs/solaris/javac.html
