How to convert oracle timestamp to java timestamp

Hi,
I need to convert oracle timestamp that i got from oracle database to java timestamp.I tried to use getTimestamp() to get timestamp value from oracle, but am getting NumberFormatException.
Could any of suggest how to convert oracle timestamp to java timestamp.

Thanks jverd ,
then my code will be like:
String oracleTS="11-MAR-05 11.19.20.625 AM";
// am looking for yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss format
SimpleDateFormat sdf=new SimpleDateFormat("yyyy-MM-dd
HH:mm:ss");
Timestamp javaTimestamp=Timestamp.valueOf(oracleTS);
System.out.println("javaTimestamp----->>
"+javaTimestamp);
ving java.lang.NumberFormatException: For input
string: "MAR"Well, the SimpleDateFormat has to actually match the format you're trying to parse, for one thing. Then you have to actually USE the SDF, which you didn't.
You really haven't made it clear what you're trying to do, and it doesn't appear that you bothered to study the links I provided.
DateFormat df = new SimpleDateFormat("dd-MMM-yy HH.mm.ss.SSS aa");
Date date = df.parse(oracleTS);
Timestamp ts = new Timestamp(date.getTime());

  • How to convert Oracle Data into Java Date

    Hi there,
    in JDev 3.2 oracle.jbo.domain.Date was derived from oracle.sql.DATE, which has a timestampValue() method to get a java.sql.Timestamp.
    In Jdev 9.0.3 Date is not!! derived from oracle.sql.DATE, so my previous implementation fails.
    So, How can I get a java.util.Date from oracle.jbo.Date?
    ( I think this is a bug !?)

    Hi Dietmar,
    this is documented in the help; see Reference - Business Components Oracle Domains; then choose 'Date'
    using the dateValue() method on the oracle.jdo.domain.Date gives you a java.sql.Date which is a (subclass of) java.util.Date.
    Cheers, Hans

  • Converting oracle forms into java forms

    Hi all,,
    would help me plz on how to convert oracle forms into java using any tool;
    Is Jheadstart is the tool,, im having jeveloper version 10.1.2.1.0

    There are at least two companies that are marketing Forms to Java conversion tools. I'm sure that a good Google search will locate them, and they are frequent exhibitors at Oracle-oriented conferences like Collaborate and ODTUG Kaleidoscope. But there are problems associated with doing this. I urge anyone who is considering such a project to read this article by Grant Ronald: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/forms/pdf/10gR2/formsmigration.pdf
    You should carefully ask yourself and your clients and management, "Why do you want to do this?", "What benefits are you trying to realize?", "Does this make sense, and are there other options that we should be exploring?"
    For instance, many people are trying to protect themselves because "Forms is going away". Oracle has stated again and again that Forms is NOT going away. In fact the recent Fusion Middleware 11g release included a new version of Forms with some significant enhancements. You may do very well just by upgrading to the latest version of Forms.
    If you do decide that it still makes sense to convert, I suggest that rather that converting, you may want to redevelop from scratch. Keep the database if it is well designed - a well designed, stable database will outlast any front end that you may use against it. Then take full advantage of the capabilities of your new toolset, and leave behind the limitations and inapplicable methodologies of your old one. Oh, by the way, don't use JDeveloper 10.1.2. Use 11g if you can, or 10.1.3.5 if you must.

  • Converting Oracle TIMESTAMP(4) column to SQL datetime column conversion error in ssis

    I could not able to convert Oracle TIMESTAMP(4) column to SQL datetime column conversion error in ssis.
    I'm connecting OLEDD Oracle Source to OLEDB SQL Destination in SSIS package. I'm trying to insert data from oracle datetime column into sql datetime column. I'm getting some errors.
    Please provide helpful info.

    You can transform the data types directly at the source by writing a proper SQL statement, or you can convert them using the data conversion component.

    There is no automatic way to do this in JDeveloper. I know there are some Oracle Partners offering forms to java conversion, I don't know how much of their tools are automated and done with JDeveloper. With JDeveloper+ADF you basically rewriting the Forms application from scratch (and using ADF is helpful during this process).

  • How to convert Oracle reports previewer output into delimited file.

    How to convert Oracle reports previewer output into delimited file if the report has more than 1000 pages.
    I tried with previewer option File --> Generate to file --> Delimited file, but the report engine is crashing.Not generating .TXT file.
    I observed that this option is not working for more than 400 pages.
    I am using Oracle reports 6i version.
    Plz suggest me to generate .TXT file from Report previewer.

    You can specify a delimiter (a character or string of characters) to separate the data (boilerplate or field objects) in your report output in either of the following ways:
    On the command line using the DELIMITER keyword.
    In the Delimited Output dialog box or DelimitedData Output dialog box (displayed with File > Generate to File > Delimited or File > Generate to File > DelimitedData) in Reports Builder.

  • Help! How to convert an instance from java.lang.Object to a particula class

    * How to convert an instance from java.lang.Object class to a particular class
    witch is known only at the running time?
    Roster EJB component is make up of RosterHome, Roster and RosterBean.
    RosterHome is the home interface of Roster EJB.
    Roster is the remote interface of Roster EJB.
    RosterBean is the implement of Roster EJB.
    The following code segment is to invoke Roster EJB component.
    String jndiName="roster.RosterHome";
    javax.naming.Context initial = getInitialContext();//getInitialContext() returns a instance of Context.
    Object objref = initial.lookup(jndiName);
    RosterHome home =
    (RosterHome)javax.rmi.PortableRemoteObject.narrow(objref,
    RosterHome.class);
    Roster myRoster = home.create();
    String team="T1"
    String player="Tom"
    myRoster.addPlayer(player,team);
    But, now, all the home interface, the remote interface and the JNDI Name of
    Roster EJB component are not been known at the compiling time. However They are
    known at the running time, throught reading from the XML config file.
    Questions:
    1,How to write code for this case ? or
    2,How to convert an instance from Object class to a particular class witch is known
    only at the running time?
    String jndiName="roster.RosterHome";// in fact, reads from XML file.
    String homeClassName="roster.RosterHome";// in fact, reads from XML file.
    String remoteClassName="roster.Roster";// in fact, reads from XML file.
    javax.naming.Context initial = getInitialContext();//getInitialContext() returns a instance of Context.
    Object objref = initial.lookup(jndiName);
    Object objHome= javax.rmi.PortableRemoteObject.narrow(objref,
    Class.forName(homeClassName));
    /* how to do next?
    }

    I am not sure what you are trying to do. But at some point you should know which methods to call on the remote interfaces. Maybe the method names are stored in the XML file as well or you have a set of standard method names (also consider parameters).
    However, this can be solved by reflection. Look at the java.lang.reflect package, especially java.lang.reflect.Method, and also at java.lang.Class.
    If you are doing this on the app server:
    I've seen posts where people say that reflection is not permitted in EJB, but I don't think so. Check the EJB spec.
    If you are doing this in an application: reflection is always permitted. Probably also in applets and JSP.

  • How to convert normal timestamp to julian timestamp in oracle

    Hi Friends
    How can i convert normal timestamp to Julian Timestamp in Oracle ?
    Thanks for your help

    Hi Chris,
    I dont have any idea on this. But need clarification on your query.
    When I executing below query I'm getting same output. 'J' will give only Julian day right not the timestamp. Please correct me if I am wrong.
    SQL> select to_char(systimestamp,'J') J,to_char(sysdate,'J') from dual;
    J            TO_CHAR

  • How to convert a timestamp to date/time in CDS View?

    Dear experts,
    I would like to convert a timestamp to a date and time within a CDS view.
    This is what I tried to do:
    Cast (Cast(<timestamp> as abap.dec(8,0)) as abap.dats) as <date>
    I also thought about first converting the timestamp into a plain numerical character, then using substring and then casting it to abap.dats. Then its giving me an error that says: "dec can't be converted into numc".
    The above written code also throws an error - "function not allowed/ no cast within a cast".
    It is quite nasty not being able to write a cast within a cast - how else am i supposed to achieve a date here?
    I am looking forward to have your answers!
    Thanks and BR
    Anja

    Hi Anja,
    what you try to do is currently not possible, a feature not available in CDS views.
    Yet it surely is a feature, ABAP developers would like to see on the feature request list .
    Cheers,

  • How to convert oracle DDL to mysql DDL

    Dear friends,
    I have Oracle 9.2.0 DDL, (not complexity, no BLOB or CLOB data type, but have foreign key constrains), I want to convert it to mysql DDL, so I can create mysql database using this DDL. could someone give a hint of how to convert it? thank you very much in advance!
    besides, could some one tell me if I can get oracle 9.2.0 DDL through JDBC? how?
    thanks again!

    Hi Sammy,
    I'm not sure what you're looking for when you say you'd like to retrieve Oracle DDL. Would you like to know the table definitions (e.g., table names with associated column names and types)? I think java.sql.DatabaseMetaData might be able to help you out if that's what you mean.
    I usually just go into SQL*Plus and ask Oracle to describe the tables I need. But perhaps I'm not understanding you.
    Yes, I think it's best combine XDoclet and Hibernate. I've been adding XDoclet javadoc tags to my Java classes. There's an Ant task that generates the *.hbm.xml descriptor files for all my classes. There's another Ant task that will take those descriptors and put out the DLL for you. You can change from Oracle to MySQL just by changing the hibernate.properties file.
    I agree - Hibernate is terrific stuff. I hope it can help you. Sincerely, MOD
