How to copy entire message + header

Folks,
Is there some way (plug-in, applescript, anything) to select a message and to send to the clipboard the body of the message + the header. As it stands you can only copy the body of the email. The only way to get the lot appears to be saving the message as a .txt or .rtf document and copying the contents of that document. A bit laborious. Any ideas/suggestions?
Steve J

Having created the new file many applications allow you to 'Insert file' into a document you are working on. Would this achieve what you are wanting, albeit by way of the Save as and Insert file? I know it's not a 2-step process like Copy & Paste because of the several steps in Save as.

  • Does anyone know how to copy mail messages found in spotlight to a folder?

    I can select all, but the copy is grayed out.

    Type the search criteria in Spotlight.
    Click "Show All".
    Click "Kind" to arrange the results by kind, which will group all mail messages together.
    Select them all and drag to the folder you want, holding the OPTION key. Otherwise you'll just move them.
    Can you explain what are you trying to achieve?
    There's a lot you can do inside Mail, separate messages by keywords, subject, sender etc. move them to separate folders... So maybe doing it in mail automatically would be a better option for you.

  • How to copy email messages between 2 accounts on IMAP server side

    Hello,
    I have a need that I'm not yet able to solve on my Mac Mini Server (OSX10.9.4 build 13E28 - Server 3.1.2 build 13S4517).
    I have configured and started my Server with the IMAP Server that manage my emails domain; at the moment I have 8 accounts able to retrieve emails from the external ISP, send emails outside through the same ISP and manage locally the emails exchange. All it's working as good as well.
    Now, caused by operative needs of the company, all the emails of a specific account should be copied/forwarded/duplicated (one of this solution would be indifferently accepted) to a different account. The second account isn't configured on the ISP site but only my Server and should be used as a something similar to a live-backup of the first account. This is necessary because the first account "can be / has to be" managed by a lot of people (we know that this behavior could be dangerous for the integrity of the mail repository but we can't do in a different way...) and so we need to create a second account that will be managed by the administrator only to handle in real-time possible recoveries...
    Have someone ideas/suggestion about a standard way (i.e. I mean something already foreseen inside Maverick/Server app) that we can follow to configure the environment that I've described?
    Thanks a lot for your help and support

    Irina, I don't think the mail api is not really designed for that. To do things at the database level, you might want to look at streams to pump all changes over to an archive database.
    However one thing to bear in mind is that if you are capturing changes in the user's mail folder then you do not have an authoritative record of all mail (just an archive of what actually made it into their folders (e.g. if they choose not to keep a sent copy, then you will not have it in your archive).
    For this reason, true compliance archiving usually aims to intercept the smtp delivery process (either as an intermediate gateway or plugin to a gateway .. google for such products).
    you would normally do this at your corporate smtp gateway. unfortunately, I don't believe you can internally intercept/hook the OCS smtp process with 100% reliability (e.g. via a trigger), so I'd suggest you look at external smtp solutions if you really need compliance archiving.

  • How to copy  error message text , that is on JOptionPane window ??

    It's not something you need to do in Java, it's a Windows thing (and I presume a lot of other OS's have the same behaviour).
    If you want to do it automatically, do this:
    import java.awt.datatransfer.*;
    // when you want to display the error message....
    String errorText = ......;
    // This could be a String, if you were going to pass an object to JOptionPane, use myObject.toString()
    // This should put the string into the system clipboard
    Toolkit.getSystemClipboard().setContents(new StringSelection(errorText), this);and make your code implement ClipboardOwner, and have this method:
    public void lostOwnership(Clipboard clipboard, Transferable contents)
    // I don't see why you'd care that you lost ownership of the clipboard, so do nothing hereI hope this helps,

  • Retrieve the message put in message header using variable substitution

    hi,
    i am using dynamic configuration to put some information in the message header.is it possible to retrieve the message using variable substitution and if it is possible then how it be done using variable substitution.
    regards,
    Meenakshi

    Variable Substitution does not allow you to read all the messaeg header elements only some of them can be read/ access....for more info on how to read the message header elements refer: /people/jin.shin/blog/2007/04/27/sap-netweaver-xi-variable-substitution-with-adapter-specific-message-attributes-via-dynamicconfigurationbean
    From the above blog:
    When using Variable Substitution, only certain standard message header attributes can be used/accessed (e.g. sender_party,
    sender_service, receiver_party, receiver_service, interface_name, interface_namespace, message_id)
    Better use Dynamic Configuration to read the parameters.
    I am wondering why you need to read the message header parameters when you are putting them using Dynamic Configuration.....cant you just get the details from the dynamic configuration UDF itself?
    Regards,
    Abhishek.

  • How to transfer text messages from android to computer?

    As you know, SMS is the basic function of a mobile phone, and we are used to send text messages on many occasions. Want to copy android sms to pc avoid losing them accidently? Puzzled in how to transfer text messages from android to pc? Well, now I'll guide you how to copy text messages from android phone to computer with Coolmuster Android Assistant.
    It's very easy, we just need 2 steps to finish the work:
    Step 1:Connect Android Phone to pc
    The first thing you need to do is to download and install the Android contacts manager on your pc and launch it. The next is connect your Android phone to pc via usb cable. Your device will appear on the screen. The manager would recognise your android device automatically.
    Notice: If this is the first time you connect android phone to the problem on computer, you should enbale USB debugging first, and install a USB driver on your computer, then the app would detect your android phone automatically.
    Step 2elect sms and Start Export
    You can find many icon on the left, find "Contacts" and click it, all then go to "SMS", then all sms on your android phone will be listed on the right. Then select and check you want to transfer, at last click "Export" to start the work.
    That's all!

  • How To Copy and Print Multiple Message Basic Header Info

    Is there a way to highlight multiple messages and then copy, print or export ONLY the basic header info such as From/To/ Subject/Date/Time, etc?
    I've tried several things but always get the entire message when I select and try to copy or print a list from the Inbox or other mail boxes.
    I looked at this article that seemed promising:
    http://email.about.com/cs/macosxmailtips/qt/et071803.htm
    . . . but can find no such "print selected summaries" dialogue or option to do so.
    Any suggestions?
    This would be for a printed list of email headers such as one's secretary might give one or email to one as a "heads-up" of what's on tap.

    PowerMac 1.25 DP, 1TB HDs, 1.75GB RAM, Superdrive   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    What I was hoping was that the features had been moved but were still available. Apparently now you can only copy and paste or print the entire message except if it's HTML in which case, that text cannot be coped from a header list.
    Thanks!

  • How do I copy SMS messages from phone to memory ca...

    After I change the option of saving the messages from phone memory to memory card on my E90, I don't see any of the messages stored on the previous choice in INBOX. This is ok, I understood this.. But.. How do I copy the messages from phone memory to memory card for example ? Reply pls..

    I think I kind of solved this issue.. Try doing this. Copy all files from memory card to a back-up folder in your PC, after connecting the phone to the PC via 'Data Transfer Mode', by clicking CTRL+A while in Memory Card in Windows Explorer. (Doing this, you will also copy the hidden files, if you haven't clicked the option to view hidden files and folders in Windows Explorer). Afterwards, format the memory card via phone, or simply CTRL+A + Delete from explorer to fully erase the microSD card. In phone, messages, in other settings, choose phone memory to store SMS messages, and then.. tell a friend to send you an SMS message, or simply send one to yourself. After receiving the message, go back to settings->Other, save sms messages to:, choose Memory Card, and the phone should ask you, whether to move or not the original messages. If you choose to move them, and NOT to save the original messages, entire messages from phone should move to the memory card. (If you would have chosen to save the original messages, the mesages that you move, would STILL BE in the phone memory.) If you want to do this again, to move them from memory card back to phone memory, change the memory to save sms messages (and if at first you have chosen NOT to save original messages, the phone should 'ask' you again for the same question.)
    And, btw, if you're probably curious.. (as I was ) where the messages were saved, in memory card, after the first time you copy the messages to memory card, check the memory card via 'Data Transfer' mode on your PC's Windows Explorer. I found them in the 'private' folder somewhere.. There should be a mail and mail2 folder there.. Also, the phone browsers, FExplorer, and Y-Browser won't be able to access the private folder. (For security reasons, bleah )
    Afterwards you can copy all software folders, images, music files, documents, etc. from the backed-up memory card folder you created at the first steps, since we all know E90 is a smart cutie, and will automatically detect all files, software, etc., after you copy-paste them.
    Cheers, hope this helps

    What you can do is open the messages app, go to the messages you want to copy from, press edit in the top right , select the messages you want to copy by tapping them, and then press forward on the bottom right. After doing that, you can just select all the text and copy it/ cut it and paste  in the notes app or in an Email and send it .

  • How to acces the filename from Message Header during variable substitution

    Hi,
    We need to access the attribute filename from Message Header during Variable Substitution.We are able to access the following attributes of Message Header
    sender_party, sender_service, receiver_party, receiver_service, interface_name, interface_namespace,
    message_id (message ID with hyphens, for example 9fbe1ff1-9a0d-11d9-8665-cbf10a126331)
    message_id_hex (message ID in hexadecimal format, for example 9fbe1ff19a0d11d98665cbf10a126331)
    For example, if we want to specify the interface name from the message header in the target directory or in the file name scheme, we enter message:interface_name as the reference.
    In the same way i need to access the filename which we get in the Message Header(which we get in the Message Header when we check the Adaptor specific message properties and filename in sender CC).Any suggestions on the same

    Hi Bhargav,
    Use this UDF to retreive the file name from the Dynamic Configuration Payload in the mapping.
    getFileName(UDF) -
    > Filename(node in the target structure).
    public String getFileName(Container container)
       //write your code here
    DynamicConfiguration conf = (DynamicConfiguration) container.getTransformationParameters().get(StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);
    DynamicConfigurationKey key = DynamicConfigurationKey.create("http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File","FileName");
    String ourSourceFileName = conf.get(key);
    return  ourSourceFileName;
    Create a node in the target structure top hold the filename returned by the UDF.
    Now your payload will have the filename along with the actual data.
    U can use the variable substution now as u use for the other data in the payload since the filename is now a part of your payload.
    Regards
    San
