How to create a ICWC "Cancel" function?

Hello all.
Our call-centre users have a large database of historical data which they frequently execute inefficient searches on in the ICWC. In order to avoid keeping their callers on the line waiting for the search to time-out, we need to give them an option to cancel the search they have just executed in error. Is it possible to put some button on the ContextAreaView - alongside the "End" button? The system doesn't seem to react (via DO_HANDLE_EVENT) to the user hitting the existing "End" button while a search is in progress.
Any ideas?

hi Alex,
"End" button would not end your search but you can implement a button adjacent to it in the same area (as only that area can have the click functionality while the search is going on).
The button which you implement should take care of ending the search process explicitly.

How to create the change document functionality for a dependent objects?

May I please know how to create the change document functionality for a dependent objects?
I have done it follow the same process as for business process objects. But when i try to test it in BOBT, there is no records under "FIELD_CHANGE_WITH_FILTER". It seems the change hasn't been recorded.
If the way I did to create change document for dependent object is correct, please also kindly advise the possibilities for why there is no record during testing.

I also have some doubts about the business object.In this case,one abstract BO hase a subnode wihich is root extended.I added the change document for this node under the category "root_extended" and then tested the function in BOBT.I got some error message "can't find the root key".Shall i redefine the method /BOFU/IF_CDO_CREATION~IS_CDO_CREATION_ACTIVE so as to solve the problem?

Lets do simple example where you will first create a RFC in one server (say A) and create normal program in othere server (say B). Finally you will call the RFC in A from B.
Do the following steps for creating RFC in server A.
1. log on to server A
2. go to se37
3. Edit -> function groups-> create function group and give the function group name (say ZGRP).
4. create a FM ( say Z_TEST_RFC) in se37 providing the function group which is created just now.
5. go to attribute tab -> choose remote-enabled module from processing type.
so that your FM will become RFC.
6. provide the import parameter in import tab.
we will provide only two import parameters.
- parameter name : P_NUM1, typing: TYPE, associated type : I & check the pass value (all the parameters of RFC must pass by value).
- parameter name : P_NUM2, typing: TYPE, associated type : I & check the pass value
7. provide the export parameter in export tab.
parameter name : P_SUM, typing: TYPE, associated type : I & check the pass value
8. write the given simple code in source code tab.
FUNCTION Z_TEST_RFC.
P_TOT = P_NUM1 + P_NUM2.

Do the following steps for creating ABAP program which will call the RFC in server B.

ActionsScript 3 how to create on key down function?

Ok so I understand that you make an event listener and an
event handler, but I do not understand how to create a function
were I can hold down a key and the object keeps moving until the
key is up.
With the following function it only moves it every time I
press a certain key. I need to move while the key is held down
until released. I looked around with google and couldn't really
find anything other than how to do this in AS2, which isn't
helpful. Please help! :D

How to create in R/3 functional area hierarchies (0FUNC_AREA_0112_HIER)

First of all, thank you for your time, any help would be really appreciated and some points will be asigned to helpful answers.
Now my little problem...
We need to have in BW Functional Areas hierarchies.
To do that I have activated 0FUNC_AREA_0112_HIER from bc. The problem is that there aren´t any functional areas structures defined in R/3 for the moment.
I've been doing some tests creating structures in R/3, transaction SPRO, "Define finantial statement versions", but when I try to upload them to bw, they don't appear in the hierarchy flow of 0func_area infoobject but in 0gl_account, despite I have filled the flag of "assignment of functional areas is permitted".
Also in R/3, when I run transaction SE38, program RSA1HCAT, Datasource with hierarchy type=0FUNC_AREA_0112_HIER, an error message is displayed: "No hierarchy catalog in the source system".
That means they are not func area structures but GL account structures defined in R/3. Nobody in my team knows how to create these kind of structures so that I can load them as 0func_area hierarchies.
Could you help me please?

Got the same issue with trying to create/load the functional area hierarchy.
Don't know if this helps but if you want to use the hierarchy as defined by the financial statement version, use the hierarchy on the IOBJ 0GLACCEXT - Financial Statement Item.
Setup as follows:
IOBJ: 0GLACCEXT
Hier: 0GLACCEXT_T011_HIER
Text: 0FUNC_AREA_TEXT and 0GL_ACCOUNT_TEXT

How to create "moveUp" and "moveDown" functionality for items in a TileList

I want to create "Move Up" and "Move Down" buttons for items in a TileList. They should have the same functionality as if they were dragged and dropped, except only moving one position up or down (and thus switch places with the item above/below). I have tried this using this code for the moveUp button:

3. If i click "MoveUp" again, the same two (item three and two) switces places, instead of the intended item two and one.
The traces tell me that myTileList.selectedIndex variable isn't set correctly as the trace shows this:

Any idea on how to solve this problem?

How to create 'service' tier with functionality multiple struts apps

I am looking for some advice regarding a future project. I have 3 struts webapps (running on Tomcat 4.1.3) each with some overlapping functionality. I would like to create a 'service tier' to accommodate common functionality which can be shared between the 3 struts web apps.
What framework would best achieve this? Are EJBs the way to go? My struts apps all use DTOs so are not tied to the Action Form object. I have been looking at Spring but am not sure exactly how this will fit? Will tomcat serve my needs or do I need to migrate to something with full J2EE support. I have also considered JBOSS with Seam linking JSF to EJBs. Is this a viable option?
The service layer can be on the same machine as the struts apps although I would like to have the flexibility to move it to a separate server in the future if necessary.
I will be happy to provide more details to any who can offer me some guidance.

Depends on what you mean by ' maintenance'. In terms of onging development with your Java source, in a modern IDE, no. In terms of deployment, it does add a minor bit of complexity. However, if you are using an automated build and deployment tool such as Ant or Maven, the amount of extra work is trivial.
In your opinion what would be the advantages of
implementing the common functionality as a seperate
tier (with SPRING/EJB) vs using a JAR file and
distributing it with each app?They are not mutually exclusive. If you want to remove duplicate code, then simple refactoring is the start. As part of that refactoring, you may decide enough classes are providing similar functionality (such as transaction management, a coarse-grained public API, etc.) and create a tier. You mentioned in particular a service tier. This is a design and architectural decision. You could still completely refactor common functionality into a better design without the introduction of a new tier.
Whether to create a tier is, IMO, more art than science. Adding a tier adds complexity. However, the net effect should be to reduce system complexity. It is more 'work' to implement a true persistence tier than to simply code JDBC in model objects (or use Hibernate/JDO objects). However, as overall system complexity grows, the addition of a persistence tier adds many benefits. Business objects concern themselves solely with business logic, where as data acccess objects concern themselves with persistence. You can even have different developers with different skills specialize within a tier.
So, tiering really is a big topic. Fortunately, there are many architecture templates and design patterns to guide your decisions. "Patterns of Enterprise Architecture" (also by Fowler) compares and contrasts the more common ones. There is lively debate as to the pros and cons of different strategies. In the end, there is no cookie-cutter architecture. You will need (sometimes through the painful process of making a mistake) to see what works best for your actual system.
Finally, about remoting. Remember the first law of distributed objects, "Don't distribute your objects". There is always a performance penalty compared to an in-JVM local call. Remoting has its uses, but these should be careful architecture-level decisions. (I should concded that even this paragraph is sometimes contentious and debated).

How to create Drop-Down with Function Module REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY

Hi Experts,
I have used Reuse_alv_grid_display function module in my report for ALV output. I have a requirement to add drop down in one cell of my output. I have searched but all are suggesting through OOPS programing that I can not use.
If it is possible with the given scenerion , please help me how to write the code for it?

How to create an own dropdown function in the ALV toolbar?

Dear experts,
I follow the sap.help.com and try to create a dropdow as an own fucntion the the toolbar of an ALV.
My codes are as following:
DATA: lo_dropdown TYPE REF TO CL_SALV_WD_FE_DROPDOWN_BY_IDX,
            lo_dropdown_func TYPE REF TO CL_SALV_WD_FUNCTION
            lo_value TYPE REF TO CL_SALV_WD_CONFIG_TABLE.
lo_value = ir_interface_controller->get_model( ).
CREATE OBJECT lo_dropdown EXPORTING texts_elementname = 'DROPDOWN'.
lo_dropdown_func = lo_value->if_salv_wd_function_settings~create_function( id = 'DROPDOWN' ).
lo_dropdown_func->set_editor( lo_dropdown ).
lo_dropdown->set_enabled.
I also set an external Context-Mapping to the Context-node FUNCTION_ELEMENTS of ALV-Interfacecontroller.
But now I get an error message "The ASSERT condition was violated"
The error position has the following code and comments:
" Context Path contains no multiple node
     assert 1 = 2
Could you please tell me, how could I fix this bug?

From this statement I'm guessing that the context node that the DropDownByIndex editor is bound to isn't a multiple node (1:n or 0:n). A byIndex gets its allowed values in the drop down from the elements in a context node. Therefore it doesn't make sense to bind a byIndex to a 0:1 or 1:1 context node.

How to create an array of functions

normally I use
repository.getFunctionTemplate(functionName);
to get a function object.
Is there a way to get an array of function objects for a function name.
I am trying to execute multiple functions in the same connection to reduce calls for logging on and off for each call.

public JCO.Function getFunction()
Creates a function object from the template and returns it
Returns:
the function created from the template

So, you can reuse function template to create multiple fuctions.

1.
Create Maintenance Dialog
To generate the maintenance dialog for a table or view:
Choose Development ® Other tools ® Gen.tab. maint. dialog. You go to the maintenance transaction initial screen.
Enter the name of the table or view.
Choose Generated objects.
Choose Create/Change.
Confirm the maintenance module creation prompt.
Enter the generation data:
Maintenance module function group
You can put maintenance modules for several tables or views in a function group.
Authorization group
Maintenance type (one/two-level)
Maintenance screen numbers
Recording routine (standard/individual or none)
Choose Create. All components required are generated.
When a maintenance dialog is generated, an entry with an object list is created in the maintenance object description table. All tables involved are in this object list.
