I am working in Oracle Apps R12.
How to create a lookup can any one provide me the steps to create lookup
I have two tables Per_all_people_f from this table I need to create a lookup with "FULL_NAME" column and the "person_id" in the per_all_people_f and "to_person_id " in po_requestion_lines_all tables need to be equal
Ie l need to create a look up like this
select hr.full_name,po.to_person_id,hr.person_id from per_all_people_f hr,PO_REQUISITION_LINES_ALL po where po.to_person_id=hr.person_id

How to create a lookup in Crystal Reports or SQL Server

I need to create an Operating Statement report. The problem is that I need to create a lookup or something to satify a requirement that even if there is no data in the system it will still bring back a description.
Example: 01 = Income, 02 = Expense, 03 = Labor.. ect(there are 31 of these)
If there is no data for 03 I still need Labor to print.
In my SQL I did a CASE statment that said when
Account = '3001' THEN 01, Account = '3002' THEN 02, Account = '3003' THEN 03 ECT
Then I created a formula a in Crystal that reads the case Statement to assign descriptions 01 = Income, 02 = Expense, 03 = Labor.
The problem is when there is no data for Account 3003 then the formula does not know to still bring back 03 as Labor.
Can I create a lookup to assign the description, I dont care about the values they can come back as zero.
Is there a formula or can I create a sql statement to pull back a derived table anything but to create a physical table?
Any help would be great.
Application is Crystal Reports XI 2 SP2
SQL Server 2005
Peoplesoft 8.9 Financials.

Thank you Ludek for answering my post. That was just the information I needed. I inserted a formula field and then changed the font to Wingdings and that gave me my checkbox.    Not being familiar with Crystal Reports I had a devil of a time just figuring out how to insert a formula field as the field explorer is not easy to find. I need to create a Poplist.
I want the View Object(to be associated with the poplist) to fetch the value from a new look up type and lookup codes as mentioned below.
How to create these in the APPS?
Lookup Type
RATINGS
LookupCode Meaning
A Very Good
B Good
C Satisfactory
D Bad
Please tell me how can i create the above mentioned Lookup Type and codes ?

I have one more doubt regarding the AM to be associated with the poplist and that with the page and choice box within it.
The ViewObject for the poplist belongs to the package <xyz>.oracle.apps.employee.poplist.server.
My questions are
1.What should be the AM property for PageLayoutRN?
- is it oracle.apps.fnd.server.OAApplicationModule(as in HelloWorld)
OR
- is it <xyz>.oracle.apps.employee.poplist.server (view objects AM)
2.What should be the AM property for the Choice?
- do I need to assign it to <xyz>.oracle.apps.employee.poplist.server
OR
- leave it blank?
Please clarify my doubts.

How to creat a lookup table

Hi
I have been looking and trying to figure this out for a few days and after awhile you just head no where.
What I need to do is use a lookup table and change gray code to an angular reading.
I have an 11 bit encoder I am also using LabVIEW 7.1 with a USB-6259. I can read the decimal and the Hex values but just can not seem to figure out how to get the angular measurements that I need. I have attached a simple .vi to get the hex and decimals as well as a .txt file with the gray code any help will be appreciated.

New problem. Have duplicated the VI and hooked up the second sensor. Sensor 1 still works fine sensor 2 does not. I think the problem is that it is reading 22bit and I only need 11 bit. I have both sensors wired into port0 sensor 1 is wired to port0/line0:10 sensor 2 is wired port0/line11:21. Is there a way to ignore the fist 11bits (line 0:10) or a way that would work. It shows up as 1100111110100000000000 and a dec. as 3401728. Please see attached.

This is WAY beyond what Muse is capable of and not really what Muse was designed for.
This requires the creation of a database on your server and code to handle it and serve the correct content. This is also a security minefield - serving pages with user input and data processing is a whole different game to serving static preconfigured pages.

Okay. I found the solution to this.
Now, along with this single reference, we also wish to bring the values of some more joined fields from the other record type in the Opportunities screen.
We were hoping that the Default value, and using fx, we should be able to achieve this using "joinedfieldvalue". However, it's not bringing back any value. Our expression is -
JoinFieldValue('<CustomObject3>',[<CustomObject3Id>],'<stState_ITAG>')
Please help if you have done this before.

How to have real time data in a lookup or how to update a lookup once it has been created?

I have created a lookup from an existing table and am using it to match incoming data. I would like to refresh the lookup once a day. Is this possible. If yes how do I go about it?

If you are looking up onto staged data, just snapshot the data once a day.
Or you could just do an External Lookup, where there is no need to refresh the data as you can just look it up dynamically.
You will not get any 'fuzziness' with this approach.

Our requirement, is we need to have a user defined field similar to how its there in "Organisation".
For example we need to create an user defined field like "Service Holding" which holds different services say like Service 1, Service 2, Service 3 etc.
Under each service there are multiple roles....
Eg:
Service 1 - Role 1, Role 2, Role 3
Service 2 - Role 4, Role 5
Service 3 - Role 6, Role 7, Role 8

If its not possible we would need to create a Lookup field (something similar to Organization or Manager). User clicks on the button (lens button), which should invoke an API wherein he can select specific Roles and save in User. Eg. like Service 1 - Role 1#Service 2 # Role 5 and store in the backend database.

Please advise how to use JDBC lookup in message mapping PI 7.1 ? any reference link / document ?
I have followed this step below :
1. Create the external definition for the database table.
2. Use the external definition (table) in message mapping JDBC Lookup.
But the target still "Yellow colour" meanint the mapping hasnot completed yet ? why ? and when i double click the JDBC lookup
there some error message
"No suitable parameter found; define new parameter of type 'Channel' first"

JDBC Lookup can be done in PI 7.1 using below mentioned steps :
1) Create a communication channel between PI and the database to connect to database.
2) Import the table data as External Definition.
3) In message mapping where this lookup is to be used select JDBC Lookup under Conversions and map
4) Double Click on JDBC Lookup
5) Select parameter and a database table (imported as the external definition). All the elements of the table will appear in the middle column. Select and move the input parameters to the left side column and the output parameters to the right side column. Click OK.
6) Under message mapping go to signature tab and define the parameter as channel and category as JDBC Adapter Type.
7) Under Operation mapping define the parameter & associate it with parameter defined in Message Mapping.

How to create an object alive all the time on a server side

I work on an Intranet with J2EE technologies. I need an object to do several tasks in background on the server side. Like start scheduled processes on a database and files, stocked on the server. What is the way to do this. I thought to use the JNDI by declaring the object in the Deployement Descriptor, and to manage a timer within.
I don't know if this works.
Anyway, my question is how to create an object on the server that is ALIVE ALL THE TIME and visible by the other objects running in the same VM.

This may not be the correct design, but I had success doing the following:
1. Create an Stateless EJB that does a task, i.e. update a database table.
2. Create a subclass of java.util.TimerTask to call the EJB methods.
3. Kick off the TimerTask from a servlet.init method.
Seems to work pretty well to do scheduled tasks, such as refreshing lookup tables. I would imagine the same could be done with an MBean, but I haven't had time to fully understand JMX yet. (It's on the list).
As for event driven procedures, that can be done through a servlet interface.
You may also wish to review a scheduler here: http://www.part.net/quartz.html. Note, I have NOT even looked at it yet, so I have no clue if it's any good. But, it is on my list of tools to evaluate (that's a long list) someday when my head's above water. Have a look, and caveat emptor.

Here is the steps to creat a JNDI lookup using Datasource for MSSQL Server. Follow this and use necessary oracle parameters (in bold) as gives by me in the help link above.
Click DataSources in the same path i.e. server > services > JDBC connector
Click new driver or datasource.
Enter/ Set the following properties:
Main Tab
DataSource Name : KAAR_DS
Add Alias : KAAR
SRI
Driver Name : KaarSQLDriver
JDBC version :2.0 (with XA support)

DataSource Type : ConnectionPoolDataSource

Add a valid sql statement, and execute. If it is successfully executed, a popup window comes up saying Executing <sql query> . OK.
It is done. Now you can use the JNDI look up name in your coding to access the database. Get connection and use the queries to fetch data from db.
