How to create a portlet through the hosted portal service?

Hi!
I'm currently working with Release 2, Portal Version 9.0.2.2.14.
I read that it is possible to create a portlet (eg. survey portlet) through the hosted portal serviced (portal.oracle.com). How can I do this?

The easiest way to provide search on just pages (not content areas) would be to crawl portal pages just like static pages. We have search partners on http://portalcatalog.oracle.com/ that can help you w/ this.

I am trying to create a script that goes through a document and cut/pastes specific elements to another document in FrameMaker 7.1.
So far, I can open a document and if an element is already highlighted/selected, i can cut the whole element using F_ApiCut().
I am having problems programatically trying to highlight the element that I want to copy.
So far, I have tried using the exampe from the FDKRef:

There most certainly is a way. You can set up any kind of selection that you want, although it is definately a tricky process that can throw off even an experienced FDK developer. Here are my observations based on the code you pasted...
If you want to select an element, the first thing is that you need to have the ID of that element. I don't see anywhere in your code where an element ID is retrieved. All I see is the F_ApiGetElementRange which is getting the current selection, which in turn is likely why you just keep cutting the currently-selected element. If you want to get a specific element, that function call is not applicable. You only need to set up the element range structure to reflect the proper selection and then cut.
With that, assume that "elemId" is the ID of the element you want to cut. To select an entire element, you would do this:
F_ObjHandleT elemId, docId;
F_ElementRangeT er;
/* . . .   code here to get elemId, docId, etc. . . . */
//set up the element range structure for whole-element selection
er.beg.childId = elemId;
er.beg.parentId = er.end.parentId = F_ApiGetId(docId, elemId, FP_ParentElement);
er.end.childId = F_ApiGetId(docId, elemId, FP_NextSiblingElement);
er.beg.offset = er.end.offset = 0;

I'm not sure what the sample you pasted is meant to accomplish. It is somewhere along the right track but it won't get you exactly what you want.
Now, I should say that the process of retrieving the desired element ID is a whole different challenge. I'm not sure if you know how to do that or not so I'll defer any discussion on that until you ask.

The OracleAS Portal is also required to deploy JSF Portlets. To Develop and deploy a JSF Portlet:
1. Install the OracleAS application server.
2. Install the portlet container.
3. Install the OracleAS Portal Extension.
4. Generate Portlet with Portal Extension in JDeveloper
5. Connect to application server.
6. Deploy Portlet to Application Server.
7. Install OracleAS Portal
8. Register Portlet with OracleAS Portal.
9. View Portlet in OracleAS Portal.

my question is "How to create many user in the same database(application)?"
for example, i have students, teachers, and staffs user using my application.
i can create many users to use the same application right?, how ^^''' ???
(right now i can only create application and then it shows every data in my DB

You need to create a user table within your application that maintains their privileges. If you have LDAP you could use this for authorisation otherwise the table would handle that as well (store passwords etc). Your reports etc would then be filtered on information from this table.
Check out some of the sample applications to see how authorisation and access is implemented (Online store is one). The how-to on the issue tracking system should also have some useful pointers.

The 'Winmail.dat' problem has been extensively covered in these forums, I would search for that (a Google search works well) and unfortunately I have not seen the pdf print problem before, but assuming the software is current and functions normally (other than the pdf print problem) I have no suggestion other than the obvious (but time consuming) re-installation of Office.

I tried to create it via right-click on the Folder of the uploaded Role and the only option is available is New Folder. I don't see any options for Workset.

Hey Niki,
Go to Content Admin->Portal Content.
Select your default work folder. Right click it and select new workset.
Create and save workset.
After that open your role and right click on workset and select the option add to role.
If you are not aware of the location of the role select tab search and type some keywords with *. select it and click locate in catalog.

How to create a validation for the project coding mask

Hi,
Would just like to ask how to create a validation for the project coding mask wherein the WBS elements hierarchy will be checked against the template saved. For example,
project coding mask is XXXX-XXXXX-XX-X-X-X-00-X
mother WBS should be XXXX-XXXXX-X and lower level WBS would be XXXX-XXXXX-XX.
The validation should not allow a mother WBS to be XXXX-XXXXX-XX.
How can we go about this?

You can use validation with the combination of the level and the coding mask.
In the validation:
Pre requisite: WBS level = 1
Validation: Prps-posid = prps-posid :1-12:
Message : Error
If required you can give the parameters for your detail error message.

In Adore Acrobat XI, how to create a password for the file? The help states going to Tools Menu and clicking on Protection tab - but there is no such option. In the file - properties - security screen, it shows the security details but does not allow to edit it.

I think you may be mixing up two different products: Adobe Reader (free), and Acrobat ($$).

How do you apply different styles to Portlets on the same Portal page?
I'm new to this kind of thing, but understand that something called "cascading style sheets" can help here?
What are these, how do you use them, and can you make different Portlets (all types - PL/SQL, Java, Applications, etc) on the same Portal page have different styles assigned?

Apply Oracle Portal styles at the region level. Your portlets within each region will inherit the style defined for the region.
You may want to check out Report #40050 at portalcenter.oracle.com, "Design an Attractive and Compelling Portal Interface" for a good overview of the various design features of Oracle Portal.

How to create an object within the same class???

hi im just a newbie
i v been always creating an object from the main class..
but how to create an object inside the same class??
i got main and students class
the main got an array
Students[] stu = new Students[]
and i got
stu[i] = new Students(id,name);
i++;
but i wanna do these things inside the Students class..
i tried ..but i got errors.....
how to do this

I really have no idea what you are trying to do since you say you've always been creating an object from the main class, yet you always want to create an object inside the same class.
I'll assume that you have an object in the main class that you are trying to access from the Students class.
If you are trying to access objects that are contained within the main class FROM the Students class, then know that there are two ways of doing so, one being static, and the other dynamic (look up definitions if unclear):
1.) make the objects in the main class both static and public and access the the objects using a convention similiar to: Main.object; It's important to note that Main is the name of your main class, and object is a static object. There are better ways of doing this by using gettter/setter methods, but I'll omit that tutorial.
2.) Create a new instance of the main class and access the objects using a similiar fashion: Main myInstance = new Main(); myInstance.myObject;
You should really use getter and setter methods but I'll omit the code. In terms of which approach is better, step one is by far.
I don't mean to be condecending, but you should really brush up on your programming skills before posting to this forum. This is a fundamenetal concept that you will encounter time and time again.
