How to create A record on DNS server

How do i create an A record on the DNS server (windows server 2008) that would resolve into two ip addresses: PUB & SUB ip addresses respectivly, to enable EM redundancy in Cisco Unified Communications Manager 6.1.
Right now when the PUB failover to the SUB the EM does not work. the Phone services as well as the global directory does not work. the CUCM is fully integrated to LDAP.
Cisco recomends using an SLB but right now i am trying to use the DNS option. what i need now is how to create the A record on the DNS that would resolve into the two ip address of the PUB and SUB.

You can do this but your results won't be quite as expected.  I've played around with this and you'll see that the request for when you press the services button will go to server A, then when you click on the EM service your request will go to server B, then the login back to server A even though you started the login session with server B and back and forth, then with the authentication information, etc.  Also DNS doesn't know about the state of your servers.  If a server is down you'll still have issues if the name resolves to the down IP address.  As far as I've seen DNS will always round robin with multiple records for the same name (unless you use an SRV record).

  • How to create a request in Development server?

    Hi BW Experts, good afternoon.
       Please can anyone tell me, how to create a request in Development server.
         Thanks in advance
       Regards
      Anjali

    Hi Oscar ,
      Thanks for the reply.
    My question is.
    0BATCH is a field in both R/3 and BW.
    so it allows only UPPER CASE letters.
      Unfortunately some records are in LOWER CASE.
      So i got a error in BW side when loading data from R/3 to BW.
    so i want to change that field properties .
    I have to create one request on 0BATCH field and send it to BASIS team.
      Give me reply .
         Thanks

  • Error: Missing SRV record at DNS server - [Error details: 9003 (Type: Win32 - Description: DNS name does not exist.)]

    in an attempt to transfer FSMO roles to the 2012r2 DC the first thing I ran was dcdiag /e /c /v and after correcting some minor errors, I came upon this one in the DNS portion where a SRV record is missing and I have no idea how to fix/remove this. there's
    only two DCs, 200.5 and 200.6 where the former is a Hyper-V VM running 2012r2 and the latter is a physical 2003r2 machine. I was able to successfully raise the levels to 2003 and join the 2012r2 DC. this missing SRV record does not look fatal and only warrants
    a warning from dcdiag, however I would like to fix this so there's no trouble down the road. I've tried ipconfig /registerdns, but no dice. here is the message I'm concerned about:

    Hi Ace Fekay, thank you for your help. I hope you're still with me despite my lack of responding. I needed time to move the VPN server from the DC to a separate VM and then following your instructions to disable WINS Proxy and IP routing. Some of the delay
    was when I had to restart the 2003r2 server after disabling those two items since that cause DNS queries to the Internet to go unresolved with only the 2012r2 server. That's been corrected, but running dcdiag /c /e /v still gives some DNS problems. Here's

  • How to create a record based on the name of a file in the file-system?

    Hi,
    With a lot of pictures I want to have a database to gather some information about these pictures.
    First question is how to generate a record based on a file in the file system?
    e.g. the pictures are "c:\fotos\2009\01\disc_001.jpg" to "c:\foto\2009\01\dis_98.jpg" .
    now i want to create records with as one of the attributes the name of the picture (not the picture itself). how to create these records (based on the information of the file-ssytem). i.e. the number of records should be the same as the number of pictures.
    any suggestions?
    any reaction will be appreciated.

  • How to create a file in the server?

    Hi,
    I'm making a webservice that has to generate a XML file, sign it using another webservice and return this XML. The problem is that i don't know how to create the file in the server throught webservice.
    I use this code in the webservice to generate the XML and after I return the XML to client in a byte[]
         static void outputDocumentToFile(Document myDocument, String path) {
            //setup this like outputDocument
              try {
                   // XMLOutputter outputter = new XMLOutputter("  ", true);
                   XMLOutputter outputter = new XMLOutputter();
                   //output to a file
                   FileWriter writer = new FileWriter(path);
                   outputter.output(myDocument, writer);
                   writer.close();
              } catch(java.io.IOException e) {
                   e.printStackTrace();
        }But the file is generated in the client-side, how can I generate the file in the server-side?
    Thanks very much.

    Well the File object doesn't create a file it's simply an abstract representation of file and directory pathnames.
    You can try something like this:
    <%
    try
    // get the path to the web server root
    // I read somewhere not to use 'getRealPath' for some reason which I
    // can't seem to remember :S Hopefull someone can enlighten us :)
    String path = application.getRealPath("/project/jsp/demo.txt");
    File file = new File(path);
    PrintWriter writer = new PrintWriter(new BufferedWriter(new FileWriter(file)));
    writer.println("Hello World!");
    writer.close();
    catch (Exception e)
    System.err.println(e.getMessage());
    %>
    Hope this helps :)

  • How to create restore point in windows server 2008 service pack1

    hi i am bhaskar ... how to create restore point in windows server 2008 service pack1 and how to restore system from a restore point in windows server 2008 service pack1.. is this option available or not ? what is the difference between shadow copies and
    restore point ? instead of restore point we have this shadow copies option in windows server 2008 ?Bhaskar

    AFIK, Restore Points doesn’t exist in Windows 2008.
    Volume Shadow Copy option can be used to achieve:
    Creating consistent backups of open files and applications
    Creating shadow copies for shared folders
    Creating transportable shadow copies using a hardware provider — for backup, testing and data mining scenarios
    Quickly recovering and restoring files and data
    It is more like a file, data, application backup.

  • How to create CATALOG with MS SQL Server?

    Connection class has getCatalog(strCatalog) method. In order to use it, we must create CATALOG in Database?
    How to create CATALOG with MS SQL Server?
    Help me, please!!!

    You do not create these for any database, this is part of the Connection metadata.
    The Catalog is the third level of table-like database object qualification as in "Catalog.Schema.Table". For SQLServer the qualification scheme is "Database.Owner.Table" and I would be surprised if they reported anything for the current connections getCatalog() method call.
    What many people do is avoid table qualification altogether by setting the connection's context in a database proprietary manner and then keeping the SQL as clean as possible. For many ODBC and JDBC drivers this can be set in the configuration. For MS SQLServer you can also execute a "USE dbname" statement on the connection to avoid table qualification.

  • How many DNS record need to create in Internal & external DNS server for exchange?

    Hi friends,
    I recently installed Exchange Server 2010 in my organization for testing purpose and I've register a pubic ip too for exchange server on godaddy.com. How many
    internal & External DNS records reqired to configure on external & Internal dns server so my all feature like Auto-discover, Activ -sync,& webmail start working perfectly.
    It's my first time configuring exchange for a organization.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Pradeep Chaugule

    Hi,
    Just as what ManU Philip said, you need to create
    Autodiscovery.domaincom and mail.domain.com for external dns server.
    Generally, you configure your Exchange Servers as DNS clients of your internal DNS server.
    Refer from:

  • How to Create a system in portal server

    I am trying to do the tutorial: How to Create a JDBC-based iView for Add/Update/Delete Record.
    Its pre-requisite is: A system – with an alias “JDBC” – defined on your portal server, and mapped to a database.
    Since I am new to VC, I do not know how to create a system, and I also do not know how to access the portal server.
    Please help...

    Hi Makarand,
    Do you have any one who has the access to portal with administrator rights. I am hereby sending you the steps on how to create a system.
    To define a system:
    1. Create a new system; define all its properties
    2. Create a default system alias.
    3. Create a user mapping (from the user you use in VC) to the system alias, using the user\password to the backend system.
    4. TEST the connection in the portal. If the test succeeds, it should be visible in VC discovery panel.
    VC retrieves the systems via the portal.
    You have to define the systems or use the defined systems in the portal you are connected.
    To define systems in the portal:
    System Administration => system configuration => system landscape:
    in the PCD: right click on a folder and Add new system.
    Then you have to define all the mandatory properties: Connector / Was / User management ...
    don’t forget to map your portal user with an R3/JDBC user...
    thank you very much.

  • How do I close an open DNS Server

    I have received an email from my internet provider stating I have an open DNS Server and my network has been used to attack other networks (DOS) Denial of service. I can't figure out how to secure my network. or close the open DNS server.

    You should at least update your Mac to 10.6.8 although I am not sure there are any particular security issues that would be there.
    Of course running later OS is always better.. as the latest security updates are implemented in the most recent OS.. but I am not sure one follows the other as some weaknesses are introduced as well in later OS. Any security updates should certainly be installed.
    The main point is what modem and what router do you have?
    There are a number of these notices being sent to users with apple routers which are hard to believe can be involved. It is more likely the ISP equipment. But we cannot really help you with exact details of your network .. or any more precise details the ISP has given you.
    Ring up and talk to their technical help dept. and ask for their help. Even if they won't help you fix apple router.. put the modem in router mode or buy a new modem with router mode and change the apple router to bridge.. then the issue is not caused by you and the ISP can remotely adjust their own box.
