How to create patterns(seamless)?

I was wondering if there was any good recommended tutorials or good readings on how to make patterns(seamless) in illustrator for use on other designs? Anything that is easy to understand and learn from would be great. Thanks and I appreciate your help!

In case this is the type of pattern you want to be able to create I can do a tutorial but for CS 6.
Very interesting way to control all of this.

How to create a seamless DVDrom for the pc?

I'm creating an interactive DVDrom for use on mainly windows xp machines. There will be a main movie & also an interactive flash projector I want them to be able to access if they play the dvd a computer.
I've gone over the dvd@ccess description in the manual but can see that the user is required to install the dvd@ccess software (on the pc) to access the extra content when the dvd is put in a pc. I just want to run a flash .exe file for extra content when the user clicks on a menu button - other than the user having to have flash on their system, why do I have to get them to install anything else?
I've read a few threads about edvd4 - does this handle dvdRom access better than DVDsp?

EDVD and DVD@ACCESS both require software to be loaded on to the users computer. The software is required because the software DVD Video players such as Win DVD do not have the ability to make the connections required to link to your ROM files.
I find both these applications severely lacking.
I am experimenting with Intellidisc just now and find this to be very reliable compared to the other two applications, there is no requirement for software to be installed.
There is a 10 day limited trial for download.
If you give this a try I would be interested in your comments.

How to create a Photoshop Pattern with an Illustrator Pattern CS6

I've been creating patterns in Illustrator (because it's much easier to preview how the pattern turns out) but when I bring them into Photoshop, using the offset filter, it only works when the patterns are blocked. It doesn't work if the patterns are bricked or hexed- which I use often in illustrator.
So I decided to try and just create a square in illustrator and fill it with the pattern in illustrator, then copy and paste that square into the Photoshop document. When I do that, I get white lines going through the pattern. Any advice on a way to easily bring Illustrator patterns into Photoshop? I don't even need to create the actual tile in Photoshop- but I'm not sure how to get rid of the white lines.

The white lines was a bug in CS6. I reported it, and I believe it's fixed in CC. the pattern maker in IA is much better than what you can do in PS. The new Deco Scripts add a lot of flexibility. With the latest release of CC 14.2 a user interface has been added to the Deco Scripts, making it a bit easier to get an idea of what you're doing. For CS6, I wrote a script that creates a UI, but there is no feedback window. It does allow you to adjust all the scripts variables without having to edit the Deco script code. You will still have the white line issue unless you upgrade to CC.

How to create a custom pattern that tiles without borders

I know that I can save a pattern as a swatch and use it as fill, but how to create a shape that tiles without borders?
My pattern now has closed paths on its edges which show up in the tiling. I don't know how to create it with open paths.

As I (mis)undersatnd it, you may Direct Select and delete the unwanted path segments.
Deselect first before (each time) you do it.
Otherwise, you may create a nofill/nostroke rectangle covering the exact part you wisg to have in the tile and bring it to the bottom of the stack of objects that forms the tile.

How to find self created pattern in lllustrator?

I am facing this problem for quite sometime that whenever i create a custom pattern in illustrator it appers in swatch panel but once i close the programme and reopen the same i never find my self created pattern. Pls help me.

The patterns are only created inside the same file. If you want to have it in all new files, you need to edit the document profile you use.

How to create a recurring event in SharePoint 2010

I want to know how to create a recurring event that is 2 weeks long and start Monday. I want this event to recur every 4 weeks. I'm trying to create a schedule for two guys who work in the field.
One guy works for 2 weeks in every 4 weeks starting on Monday.

The Recurrence Data field is unique to the Event Content Type. I don't see any way to add it to an existing list. You would need to recreate your list using Calendar list as the base if you were to use this approach.

there is no "pattern" option in SAPscript. All you have at your disposal are the following SAPscript commands: BOX, POSITION and SIZE. Not only are these commands both confusing and tedious to implement, they also are limited in what they can achieve. For instance, although you can suppress a box during printout (by making it conditional), there is no simple way to adjust it dynamically instead. Thus, to divide sequential line items, you may wish to use an underline (ULINE) or simply white space.

JS[CS3] Create Pattern/Swatch

I am new to JS
in AI. I know pretty well JS in ID but the object is totally different.
So I am creating a layer, naming it, Creating a box, Importing an EPS as a groupItem.
NOW the tricky part. The imported EPS is my Stamp so I need to create a pattern from it.
Then apply that pattern to my box. That is where I loose myself. I don't comprehend the relationship between stwatch, pattern & Patterncolor. But I did understand that a swatch COLOR can be of type PatternColor and there you can access its properties like angle, scale, etc... But a PatternColor is a Pattern itself?!? I also understand I can access my pattern using the swatches because a pattern is actually a swatch color.
Any pointer on how to create a pattern from my groupItem? Pattern.add method has no argument, right?

Yes that is what I get as well. There as to be a way to assign, just like the GUI does.
Compared to InDesign, AI scripting sucks. It is really poorly implemented. Even the help is sketchy at best.
I'll keep trucking along and post my findings.

How to Create Listbox in a JSP Application

Hi.
I'm new to JDeveloper. Can someone show me how to create a Listbox (that gets it's values from a database table) in a *.jsp form? This listbox is linked to a database table field. I'm not using BC4J nor EJB. I've created a JSP application with ADF using a Model1 (or MVC pattern) architecture -- which I based on the JDeveloper10i tutorial (http://otn.oracle.com/obe/obe9051jdev/ADFmodel1/ADFmodel1.htm). I've tried using render on the field in the view object entity, refresh the Data Control Palette and then drag the table view entity to a *.jsp page as input form. But I can't see the field in the form being displayed as a list box.
Please help.

Thanks for the quick reply. Sorry for the misuderstanding but I have no clue on terminology used in JDeveloper. The "view object" entity I was referring to is the "<TableName>View" view object (e.g. EmpView) under the Model->Application Sources->Mypackage folder where the "<TableName>" entity object file also resides. I think I'm using the Business Component bec. I have this step in the tutorial that I based my application on.
I have trouble following the tutorial link you gave me (for the ADF Business Component Popup list) bec. when I select the table field in the "Data Control Palette" Panel, the only values I see in the "Drag and Drop As" poplist are "Value","Label","RenderValue" and "Input Render". I can't see the type "Single Select List". Do you why is that?

How to create a new user over HTTPS

Hi. I have set up conf.xml and web.xml so that when the user accesses a page in the secure area of the website, then they are taken to a login page where they enter their username and password and the form calls j_security_check on the server. All this happens over SSL as the transport garauntee is CONFIDENTIAL. But how to create a new user over HTTPS? If I have a create new account pages in the secure area of the website, then the only way the user can access these pages is by logging in, but they don't have a login as yet.

An update. It looks that if the auth-constraint section (which lists the roles that can access this area) is missing, then everyone can access the region and it is over HTTPS. So far, the following seems to be working

I' m just curious about this gradation effect's name, and how to create it in Photoshop.

Chuck is on the right path. You can construct this with the Filter> Pixelate> Color Halftone..., but then you have to go further.
The pattern is made of two sections of the same halftone channel, one rotated 180 degrees and horizontally offset.
Basic outline:
1. create a linear gradient (you can work in color or black/white)
2. Filter> Pixelate> Color Halftone... use a large radius value for bigger circles, and set the channels to 0 or 90
3. after the filter has run, go to the Channels panel and find a transition in one of the channels that you like
4. Cmd/Ctrl click on the thumbnail of the channel to make a selection
5. go back to the Layer panel and turn off the background layer with the full haltone filter effert.
5. create a new layer, and fill it with a color (you want the dots to fill so invert the selection if needed)
6. create another layer and fill it with a second color
7. rotate the layer from step 6 180 degrees, and move it so the same size circles in the middle of you doc overlap. Now offset horizontally so the center point of circles lies halfway between the layer created in step 5.
8. now marquee a selction that goes approximately half of the doc and create masks for both layers.
9. Invert one fo the masks so that what you see is small dots of one color increasing to the center, and the second color decreasing back t the edge
10 create a third layer and fill it with one of the color and drag copy the mask from the dot pattern layer of the opposite color. Drag this layer in stack order to just above the background layer.
11. create a fourth layer filled with the opposite color of the step 11 layer. Drag this layer in stack order just below the layer you created in step 10.
12. Now (there's surely some math that makes this more accurate but I was just eyeballing it), move the top layer with the mask linked down so it is below the other offset centers by ~60-70 %. Unlink the mask and move it back so more of the dot is exposed and starts to show when it will intersect with the other layer.
13. Do the same mask movement with the second color dot layer so more of that layer's circle shows, until each dots tangents match up.

I have :
- a read-only-view-object to get the LOV values from BD.
- af:inputListOfValues tag (droped from Component Palette).
How can I create the listOfValuesModel in Bindings layer? (the inputListOfValues is not based on a View Object attribute).

My requirement is to create a LOV but I have no ViewObject. I just want an input (not based on a view object attribute), alone, but with a LOV (where lov's datas are get from a view object).
