HOW TO DEBUG  WDA APPLICATION

Hi All,
how to debug a web dynpro abap application?
Thanks,

Utilities->External breakpoints->Activate
This will activate external debugging...now put your breakpoints and run the application.

  • Xcode: how to debug an application as root ?

    Hello,
    I need to debug an application that must be ran as root. Is it possible to do it with Xcode ? If yes, how ?
    Thanks in advance for any help.

    Remote debugging is one (the ?) solution, with root@localhost as the "Connect to" parameter.

    Hello,
    Debugging a JSP using a stack trace is made possible by using the keepgenerated element of the jsp-descriptor element in your web app descriptor in WEB-INF/weblogic.xml. The working-dir and verbose elements are also of interest.
    You can edit weblogic.xml or you can use the Oracle WebLogic Server console to configure your web app. In the console you would go to "Deployments", find your web app, select the "Configuration" tab, Lock & Edit, and do your thing. The settings you are interested in are "Debug Enabled", "JSP Keep Generated", and "JSP Verbose". I'm not sure which weblogic.xml element the "Debug Enabled" corresponds to, but it might be something like the debug-enabled element of the session-descriptor element.
    I can never remember where JSP generated servlet source code files end up if I have not specified a working dir. They end up buried DEEPLY. I just search the file system in my workspace for the generated files. For example, I just found the generated source for my helloOne.jsp in:
    C:\bea_wlp102\user_projects\workspaces\frmwrk\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.wst.server.core\tmp0\frmwrk_domain\work\MyWAR\jsp_servlet\_portlets\__helloone.java

  • How to call WDA Application from an other SAP System

    hello all,
    I have a WDA Application and if the user click on a Button in this Application,  i need to call an other WDA Application from an other SAP System.
    example:  SYStem  X01 has a WDA Application and there is a Button in this Application, if the User click on this Button, a WDA Application from an Other System X09 shoud be displayed in the same window, same WDA IFRAME .
    can any one tell me how can I do this?
    Thank you all

    Hi,
    As mentioned earlier, you need to pass the host name and port of the second system. If the application name is same, pass the same application name.
    DATA: lv_url TYPE string,
           lv_host TYPE string,
            lv_port TYPE string,
            lv_protocol TYPE string.
      CALL METHOD cl_wd_utilities=>construct_wd_url
        EXPORTING
          application_name = 'ZWD_APPL_NAME'
          in_host          = lv_host   " host name of second system (X09)
          in_port          = lv_port    " port of second system
          in_protocol      = lv_protocol  " protocol of second system
    *      in_parameters    = lt_parameters
          namespace        = 'sap'
        IMPORTING
          out_absolute_url = lv_url.
    To get the Host, Port and Protocol of second system, wrap the below code in a Function Module(RFC) in X09 and call this in X01 and then pass them to the cl_wd_utilities=>construct_wd_url as mentioned above
    CALL METHOD cl_http_server=>if_http_server~get_location
        IMPORTING
          host         = host
          port         = port
          out_protocol = out_protocol.
    hope this helps,
    Regards,
    Kiran

  • How do debug an application in Shared Memory debug mode using JDev

    I don't see the option of using "Shared memory" debug mode in JDev. There is only socket debug option(Attach/Listen) in debugger but no shared memory debug option.
    Is it missing or is it hidden somewhere.

    Hi All,
    I am working in Solaris Sparc 5.8 Machine. I need to debug Multithreaded C++ Application in Unix Environment.
    I am using dbx debugger.
    Please explain me how to debug multithreaded applications. if possible please explain me with example.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Thanks & Regards,

    1. Look over the dbx manual that comes with Sun Studio. Dbx includes many features for debugging MT code.
    2. If you have specific questions after reading the manual and trying out the features, ask them in the debugger forum:

    2.How to debug my application in Eclipse Europa by putting break points.
    3.how should i add Tomcat6.0 to my project in order to debug my application so that i can put break points while running the applications and observe the values.
    Thanks

    You may find this tutorial useful regarding to JSF, Eclipse and Tomcat: http://balusc.blogspot.com/2008/01/jsf-tutorial-with-eclipse-and-tomcat.html
    To put breakpoints, just doubleclick on the left gray rule of the code, you'll get blue bullets at the left rule, indicating a break point. Run Tomcat in debug modus (rightclick Tomcat debug). Use the Eclipse debug perspective to step in the code (window open perspective debug).

  • How to Debug ATG Apllication in eclipse juno

    Hi ,

    I have existing project which i imported using import option. can any one please let me know
    1.Settings for debug in eclipse.
    2.how to debug ATG application in eclipse with weblogic.
    Am using weblogic 10.3.6 server and IDE is eclipse juno Service Release 1.
    Thanks
    Srinivas A

    Thanks for the replies.
    I have done the following as per the link given:
    1.set a debugFlag =true in setDomainEnv.bat in bin folder of weblogic. JaVa options are
    already set with port no 8453 and based on flag value, the debug java options are set at server startup.
    2.I started weblogic. It started successfully in debug mode.
    3.in eclipse I have created remote configuration under remote java application for my project. Gave port as8453 and host as localhost and clicked debug.the server started.
    4..added some break points in code and generated ear file.
    Please correct the above steps whether I missed anything....
    5.I have created separated managed server called production(which run with port no 17010) through admin console and deployed the ear file to the managed server through admin console.
    5.started the managed server and tried to access the url localhost:17010/mystore.
    No debugging is performed.
    Please let me know
    1.how to deploy the ear file in managed serverfrom eclipse and debug the same from eclipse.
    2.should I use the debug port 8453 or the managed server port for debugging?
    3.in my atg app,they are using out of box debug option.do I require to set any flag to enable application level debug or not required.if required let me know the settings
    Thanks
    Srinivas
    Happy new year to all!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Debugging ESS applications

    Hi All,
             We are having ESS applications which brings Employees general data on portal. But in general data employees orgnisation unit is incorrect .
             I want to know how to debug this application so as to check where exactly it is picking the wrong org.unit for an employee in R3-HR.
    Regards,
    Ganesh

    Ganesh,
    Instead of debugging the ess application, go to PA30 and check the org unit in infotype 1 which is valid for current date.
    It could be a possibility that you employee is assigned to a position which is in the incorrect org unit.
    check in transaction ppose. Locate the org unit mentioned on ESS application and check if your employee holds any position in the org unit.
    However, if you insist on debugging, you can put external breakpoint in the relevant BAPI to debug. List of RFCs called is mostly documented in SAP help. for eg:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60_sp/helpdata/en/f6/263359f8c14ef98384ae7a2becd156/frameset.htm
    Find your service in SAP help and find out the relevant BAPI. Put external breakpoint for employee user ID and then login to ESS using same ID. You should be able to debug then

  • Debugging WDA External Candidate Application - E-Recruitment

    Hi I am trying to enhance E-Recruitment External candidate registration and Candidate profile applications which are built in Webdynpro ABAP.
    My problem is I am not able to debug these applications using external(http) breakpoint as the breakpoint is set using my ID and the application user by default uses the user RCF_PUBLIC( I think so).
    Please help me in finding a way to debug these applications.
    @Moderators
    I'm not sure where to post this message, in Webdynpro abap seciton or HCM. when I searched I saw a couple of similar questions in this section, hence posted here.
    Thanks,

    Guys,
    Thanks for all the replies, they were all helpful.
    Here is how I was able to debug it.
    Transaction SICF -> select the WDA application ->activate Debugger(edit->debugging->activate debugger)->change the User to 'RCF_PUBLIC' or watever the user maintained in logon data for that service.
    now set your breakpoint and test the application. I was able to successfully debug it.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • How to adjust size of Portal Page Panels for WDA Applications

    Hi,
    I am designing a Portal Page using Page Layout "3 Colums (Narrow:Wide:Narrow" for WDA application.  The problem is that the width of the web dynpro contents on the Left and Right panels ("Narrow" parts of the Page Layout) is not very wide, leaving lot of empty space between those panels and the Center ("Wide") panel.  Is there a way that I can adjust the width of each panel in the mentioned Portal Page Layout?
    I went through SAP library which mentions using method lr_port_manager->navigate_absolute but I am not clear how to pass the width value in the method.  If that method is relevant, can someone give a code example (no copy/paste from SAP Library pls.) of how to put the width value (e.g., 300  in the method?  Also, in which method (e.g., WDDOINIT) I should execute the code.
    Will greatly appreciate the help!
    Thanks,
    Tony

    You can easily create a custom page layout with your desired widths.
    Take a look at this blog:
    The specified item was not found.

  • How to Debug WebDynpro-ABAP application

    Hello Friends,
         1.  How to Debug WebDynpro-ABAP application.
         2.  What is modal dialog
         3.  If Component contains more than one view, how to make one view is the default. Is that any way I can hide a view.
        4. Is that Component is the highest in the design structure, or any other types available like development components in WebDynpro-Java.
    Thanx for Ur time.
    Cheers,
    Sam

    Hi,
    As i explained LIMU are subobjects like views as they dont have the seperate identity in repository so they have to be linked thru there parent component.
    So when you transport whole component u can see there would be some entries in your transport list as LIMU types ( for views , windows).
    OTR are text elements which u create for the elements of your view so u dont require to hardcode the text to be displayed as they need to be displayed in different languages so what you do is you create say button and for text to be displayed you create on OTR element under some package. now you give this package to your translation team to do all needed translations.
    Yes DDIC types are from dictionary only but when you transport them so all newly created DDIC should also be transported.
    P.S -> Pleas close this thread if satisfied with all questions.
    Thanks

  • How to debug a Mobile client application

    Hi,
    How to debug a mobile client application on the laptop, where we dont have any .NET 2003 application installed. (not an MDW)
    If we get any error on the application, which could be a UI error on laptop, and if everything is working fine on the MDW, is there any way to debug the application on Mobile client?
    Also, please provide me links or tips on how to debug the mobile application, on MDW as well.
    Regards,
    Praveen.

    Hi,
    to be able to debug on a local machine you would need at least to install the UI/BOL class files and the project files and make some local settings.
    But anyway on all clients there should be the same MSA installation like it is on the MDW so in case of an issue it is normally caused by local (inconsistent) data.
    I would suggest to access the laptop IDES database by changing your MDW odbc settings and perform the debug session on the MDW.
    Debugging in VB .net is similar to VB6 but you have to notice that changing of the code is NOT possible when being in debug mode.

    Wolfhard
