How to define a global constant in OWB

Hi,
How can i define a global constant in a module, which can be used in all my mappings?
~Prabha

I have the following approach.
You can declare public constants within a package specification.
Then, import this package spec into OWB repository.

    in the Z include of Exit function 3 write -
    data :g_global like zflag1-z_flag.
    G_GLOBAL = 'X'.
    set parameter id 'ZFLAG' field g_global.

  • How to define a constant in TSQL ?

    I need to define a group of int constants and use them by a group of functions .
    so how I define a constant ?
    and how to make it accessible by multiple functions ?

    Hi,
    I am guessing that you are developer by your nickname, so i will add something for developers :-)
    This is actually a good question and the answer is that you can use database (and this is where this forum come to help you, and
    Kalman Toth gave you the basic answer), but if your need is for application that you are developing then there are several more option which you need to check what is best for you.
    define a group of int constants in application can be done:
    >> Using database table (best for big collection or a Collection that you need some changing)
    >> Using ini file (very useful for constant Collection)
    >> Using app config file (useful for constant Collection, remember that changing the file will restart the app and all users sessions will end in some cases)
    >> Using static class
    and so on
    I hope this is useful :-)

  • How define a global variable in a class that all the methods will recognize

    hi friends,
    i need to define a global variable in a class that all the methods will recognize it.
    any suggestions?
    thanks,
    dana.

    Dera Dana,
    In se24, create your own "Z" class.
    Open the Attributes tab.
    Insert your variable in the declaration part.
    EQ:
    Attribute     Level                       Visibility   Typing      Associated Type         Description
    ITAB     Instance Attribute     Public     Type     Structure name     Description
    In the Layout of View page,
    <phtmlb:formLayoutDropDownListBox id                = "Dropdown"
                                              label             = "Drop Down"
                                              table             = "<%= controller->Itab %>"
                                              nameOfKeyColumn   = "CODE"
                                              nameOfValueColumn = "VALUE"
                                              selection         = "<%= controller->feild to be selected %>"
                                               />
    Hope this will be helpful

  • How do I create a constant in TestStand?

    For example, if the symbolic value for the reverse gear on an automotive bus is 2, then I need a constant, REVERSE, that is accessible from all of the sequences in a file and cannot be changed from 2.  It is not obvious how to do this in the Variables tab.
    Actually, I would like a way to share the constant among files - so it only has to be set in one place - and without using a Station Global because other projects may not use the same value for reverse, but I gather from my colleagues that NI's software doesn't normally offer that kind of flexibility.

    Unfortunately TestStand doesn't have the ability to do constants unless you use a resource string.  But then you are stuck with a string type which is always easy to convert.
    However, if you never assign that variable to anything and always just read it then you'll be fine.  But you have to have the wherewithal to assure that you don't assign it.  It actually is pretty easy to assign variables (e.g. Locals.Foo = 5)  And the thing is you can do this in any expression (which are scattered all over TestStand).  For instance each step has at least 3 expressions in the Pre, Post and Status.  So somebody could assign it and it wouldn't be easily recognized without doing searches and the like.
    You are more than welcome to suggest this in the idea exchange: http://forums.ni.com/t5/NI-TestStand-Idea-Exchange/idb-p/teststandideas
    Not sure if a product suggestion was ever made but you can also do that as well: http://forums.ni.com/t5/NI-TestStand/is-there-a-way-to-define-my-own-constants-in-teststand/td-p/735...

  • Global Constants / Variable in OSB

    I want to define global Constants / Variable in OSB and I want to access them in XSLT when I am tranforming the requests...
    Any idea how can I do that?
    I want to use these variables and constants for server name and ports (in different environment) and some other stuff.

    We have done a similar implementation for the same scenario. We have created a Xquery where we put in the configuration information as an XML and then in the pipeline stages we use the Assign the Xquery to a a temporary variable and then use the values of the xml using relative xpath expressions.
    This way any time we need to make any changes to the confguration we know once place we can change and it gets reflected in the complete code base.
    Below is how we have done it:
    - create a Xquery with xml configurations (say commonconfig.xq)
    - then using the Assign action get the output of this xquery into a temp var (say commonConfig)
    - then use the configurable values using the relative xpath in the Assign action (say Assign $commonConfig/param1/text() to param1Value
    Let me know if you need further information.

  • How to Define Internal Table in Smartform

    Hello,
    I have some problem on define Internal Table in Smartform
    I define a Temp_IT_Gen Type LBBIL_IT_GEN in Global Definiations
    but i find that it is not available for me to append data into it,
    the error message is Temp_IT_Gen is not a Internal Table - the Occurs n Specification is missing
    so how can i solve it?
    i want to use the internal table in the hold program.
    Thanks a lot in advance.

    Hi,
    First U define the Table type in 'TYPES' tab of Global Definitions and then assing that table type to Internal table in 'Global Data' tab.
    Eg:
    define the Table Type like below in TYPES tab.
    TYPES:BEGIN OF ty_TEMP.
            INCLUDE STRUCTURE XXXXXXX.
    TYPES:END OF ty_TEMP.
    TYPES: g_t_temp TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF ty_TEMP .
    Now, define the Internal table in Global Data tab like below:
    Variable Name    Type assignment    Associated Type
    G_T_ITEM_1       TYPE                    G_T_TEMP
    NOTE: whatever U define in Global Definitions can be used only in SMARTFORM, if u want to use it in Program U must define in Form Interface.
    Hope it helps!!

  • How can I access global variables in a loaded Applescript?

    How can I access global variables in a loaded script, in Xcode, ApplescriptObjC? Basically, I have a global variable defined in my parent script using "property", and I need to modify objects connected to those variables inside of a loaded script.
    Example:
    Parent script:
    script AppDelegate
    property myTextField : missing value
    //linked to a text field object
    tell myScript to myAwesomeHandler_()
    end script
    Loaded script:
    on myAwesomeHandler_()
    myTextField's setStringValue_("The new Xcode is so glitchy ugh")
    //changes value of linked text field of parent script
    end myAwesomeHandler_
    The problem is, the variable is undefined in the Loaded script, and I need it to have the same value as the parent script, and I don't want to pass the variable through the Handler. Any ideas?

    I think want you are looking to do will need to be done in two steps. Because myTextField needs to be a property for the ObjectiveC part of the code you cannot turn it into a global.
    However if you make a temporary variable global assign the string to it in the handler then set myTextField off of it.
    global myTextFieldGlobal
    script AppDelegate
    property myTextField : missing value
    //linked to a text field object
    tell myScript to myAwesomeHandler_()
    myTextField's setStringValue_(myTextFieldGlobal)
    end script
    on myAwesomeHandler_()
    set myTextFieldGlobal to "The new Xcode is so glitchy ugh"
    //changes value of linked text field of parent script
    end myAwesomeHandler_
    I know you stated you did not want the handler to return a value but I have to ask why? Global's, imo, are not a good idea and really should be used as a last resort.
    One other possibility is to pass a reference to the property to the handler. Not sure if that works in AS of if that would satisfy our requirement of not passing the variable through the handler
    <edit>
    Another though have you tried to define the property outside the script?  That is
    property myTextField : missing value
    script AppDelegate
    Not sure if that will work.

  • How to use a global variable for reading a query resultset in JDBC lookup?

    Hi Friends,
    Using JDBC lookup, I am trying to read from a table Emp1 using a user defined function. In PI 7.0, this function returns values of a single column only even if you fire a " Select * " query. I am planning to use a global variable(array) that stores individual column values of the records returned by a "select *" query. Need pointers on as to how a global variable can be declared and used to acheive the above scenario. Kindly explain with an example. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Amit.

    Hi Amit,
    Sounds like a good idea but then you would need an external db and update the table in a thread safe way !.

  • Very Urgent: how to define field symbols in class using se24 Points assured

    hi all
    I am new to abap oo programming. I am using se24 to build a class
    where some methods have code which involves working with field sybmols but i am not able to figure out way for how to define field symbols in the attributes section.
    I tried defining like : fld_sym type ref to  dbtab-fld
    but in the method implementation if i try to use it like assign fld to <fld_sym> there it says fld_sym is not defined as a field symbol.
    So can anyone please guide me how to define field symbols in se24.
    Also what should be the general steps while creating a class using se24.
    Points assured
    thanks

    Hi
    Global classes are like Global fun modules in which the Methods and code is already written and is mainly used for Reusability purpose.
    Goto SE24 tcode and see the std global classes like

    Can OWB do it ????? You must define a dimension, define the dimension levels and the hierarchy inside the dimension (a hierarchy can have as many levels as you want, parent-child relationship is a normal hierarchy concept - no rocket science here). Then you have to map the data source for the dimension levels appropriately. Please refer to the user manual, chapter 4 ("Defining dimensianal targets") for details.

  • How to extract the cobol files into owb

    Hi
    How to extract the cobol files in owb,I am using OWB9.2.
    Ex:I am having 2 records DCEC4000100 9159000050C those values are 5 bytes 'RAVI and 6 bytes '15000'.
    Using contorl file i am trying to load these into Oracle,But i am not able into insert these records into Oracle.
    Can any tell me how to handle this kind of situation?
    Regards,
    Rupak

    Good morning Ashok,
    Your data is in a SQL*Loader supported datatype, so basically it should not be a problem.
    Have you checked the Database Utilities guide (for Oracle9i for instance: http://www.lc.leidenuniv.nl/awcourse/oracle/server.920/a96652/toc.htm) on how to handle this?
    I'll also repeat my previous question, have you ever been able to load data into the database using SQL*Loader (either using ASCII values or any other datatype)?
    For the OWB part, have you read "Importing Data Definitions" (typically chapter 4)? More specifically, "Specifying Field Properties" in "About Flat File Sources and Targets"?
    In "SQL*Loader Properties" it says the following:
    Type Describes the data type of the field for the SQL*Loader. You can use the Flat
    File Sample Wizard to import the following data types: CHAR, DATE, DECIMAL
    EXTERNAL, FLOAT EXTERNAL, INTEGER EXTERNAL, ZONED , AND ZONED
    EXTERNAL. For complete information on SQL*Loader field and data types, refer to
    Oracle9i Utilities. Currently, only portable datatypes are supported.
    If you check the database utitlities guide (chapter 6 Field List Reference) and look for "SQL*Loader Datatypes", you'll find (packed) decimal under the Nonportable Datatypes. This implies that OWB does not support it.
    This does not mean you can't use SQL*Loader, you'll only have to define everything separate from OWB and call it separately as well.
    Good luck, Patrick

  • How to define mapping from multiple files to Oracle Tables in 9i

    Around 100-200 Flat files are created every 30 minutes and each filename is different - Filename has datetime Stamp as part of the file name apart from the product code as first 12 characters.
    Can anyone guide me in How to define mappings to these files using OWB ?
    What I can do is consolidate all files into one known single file name and map the files to Oracle tables which I don't want to do because I need to reject errorneous files.
    Can anyone provide me some tips on this ?
    Thanks in Advance.
    Sohan.

    As you know, in OWB you need to define the flat file source in a 'static' way (name, location, etc. have to be defined previously), so you cannot deal directly with dinamically generated file names. One solution would be to consolidate them into a single file (which you can define statically in OWB), but prefix every record with the filename. In this way it is easy to understand from which file the rejected records came from. If you are using unix, it is very easy to write a script to do this. Something like this will do:
    awk '{printf "%s,%s\n",FILENAME,$1}' yourfilename >> onefile
    where yourfile is the name of the file you are currently processing, while onefile is the name of the consolidated file. You can run this for all files in your directory by substituting yourfilename with * .
    You can then disregard the file name field in OWB, while processing the rejected records based on the file name prefix by using unix utilities like grep and similar.

  • Compensation Management - How to define the Compensation Area

    Dear Experts,
    We are implementing Compensation Management module for our client which contain global entities( 14 Countries.(Payroll- Country wise)
    Can you please guide me, how do define the Compensation Area for all the 14 countries.
    The following components are defined with similarities for our Client like (regionally)
    India Corporate Office:
    Salary Increase
    PMS Based Incentive(F)
    PMS Based Incentive(B)
    India Factory:
    Salary Increase
    Bonus Factory
    PMS Based Incentive(F)
    PMS Based Incentive(B)
    African Countries: (including 10 Countries having the same components)
    Salary Increase
    PMS Based Incentive(F)
    PMS Based Incentive(B)
    Bonus Africa(only)
    Europe: (3 Countries having the same components)
    Salary Increase
    PMS Based Incentive(F)
    PMS Based Incentive(B)
    Kindly guide me how to define the above business scenario into SAP and looking forward your valuable guidelines.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Anbazhagan.N

    Hi,
    Do you mean to say you have diff payroll areas for India say Corp and Factory like wise,then you can group Compensation Area as 01-corp with Ctry Grp 40 and 02-Factory with Ctry Grp 40 so on and so forth,same with other countries depending upon their payroll.
    Also check with the Documentation of Compensation area.

  • Implemenying Global constants through out a project or module in LABVIEW

    I am looking for the best method for implementing global constants in a project, the method I use now is to make a vi which returns a single indicator value that has been wired to a constant.  This works nicely but it seems like a lot of unnecessary overhead.  I was hoping for a way of performing something similar to a header file (*.h) in c which uses a #define preprocessed directive.  This has no overhead since it replaces the named constant with the global constant value.  A typedef is similar to this but it has the problem that the constant appears as a constant and does not allow for a custom icon to be associated with it.  I guess the ideal situation would be if typedefs allowed for custom icons on the block diagrams for constant instances.  Is this possible?  It would make coding much more readable.  A header file could be simulated with a library of typedefs (scripting might even allow a .h file to be auto-generated)  Any ideas on this.  Other solutions.

    I look forward to the new LV8 features, I hope to begin the migration process this winter when work slows down a little.  The only advantage to a preprocessed directive is that is will replace the code before processing (like cutting and pasting the value in place of the constant, with no function call overhead.  This could only be a problem with CPU intensive code.  See the following "toy" example.
    //haven't been programming in c lately so don't jump on my syntax.
    #define PI 3.14
    void calculateManyCircleAreas()
    float area = 0.0;
    for (r=0;r<10000000;r++){area = (PI*r*r);
    void calculateManyCircleAreas2()
    float area = 0.0;
    for (r=0;r<10000000;r++){area = (getPI()*r*r);}
    float getPI(){return 3.14;}
    the first example simply replaces the named constant with a value, while the second example uses a function call, requiring pushing the return value on the stack along with an Instruction pointer, and 2 required jumps in program flow.  Your solution is none the less the best I have seen and what I am using.  Labview used to have the same problem with commenting (ie placing code in a case statement and hardwiring it to a false Boolean) where the code was not removed by the complier but simply not executed (not quite the same thing) but this too looks to be fixed in LV8.
    Thanks,
