How to destruct object in java...

i have an apllicationn which is causing memory leak and i saw that a particular object is not getting deleted.....
how do i write destructor for that class to make sure that it is getting deleted?
will this wORK
protected void finalize() throws Throwable
try
finally
super.finalize();
System.out.println("The object has been destructed");
}

No. There's no destructor in Java. Just make sure
there are no more references left to the instance you
want to have destroyed.No reachable references. A and B can refer to each other, and as long as neither is reachable through a root reference, they're both eligible for GC.

  • How register COM object from java?

    Hi!
    In my user home directory I have myCOM.dll. My sign applet use this myCOM.dll. But before use this dll I must register it (by use regsvr32).When myCOM.dll will be success register my applet can work. The problem is that I can not get answer from regsvr3 (is myCOM.dll are successed registered or not, or is user has a grants to register COM object and so on.)
    Again, my java applet can work ONLY when myCOM.dll is registered.
    How I can register myCOM.dll from java applet and if registered is not success exit from java applet?

    I must not have been clear. I am not asking how to access a COM object using Java, we already have tools to do that.
    The question is whether there is a way to define a COM interface using Java. I want to code my COM object in Java. Right now we are using PowerBuilder to code COM objects. I would rather use Java.

  • How to pass Objects from Java App to JavaFX Application

    Hello,
    New to the JavaFX. I have a Java Swing Application. I am trying to use the TreeViewer in JavaFX since it seems to be a bit better to use and less confusing.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks
    I have my Java app calling my treeviewer JavaFX as
    -- Java Application --
    public class EPMFrame extends JFrame {
    Customer _custObj
    private void categoryAction(ActionEvent e)   // method called by Toolbar
            ocsCategoryViewer ocsFX;    //javaFX treeviewer
            ocsFX = new ocsCategoryViewer();    // need to pass in the Customer Object to this Not seeing how to do it.
                                                  // tried ocsFX = new ocsCategoryViewer(_custObj) ;    nothing happened even when set this as a string with a value
    public class ocsCategoryViewer extends Application {
    String _customer;
    @Override
        public void start(Stage primaryStage) {
         TreeView <String> ocsTree;
         TreeItem <String> root , subcat;
      TreeItem <String> root = new TreeItem <String> ("/");
            root.setExpanded(true);
             ocsTree = new TreeView <String> (root);
             buildTree();     // this uses the Customer Object.
            StackPane stkp_root = new StackPane();
            stkp_root.getChildren().add(btn);
            stkp_root.getChildren().add(ocsTree);
            Scene scene = new Scene(stkp_root, 300, 250);
            primaryStage.setTitle("Tree Category Viewer");
            primaryStage.setScene(scene);
            primaryStage.show();
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            _customer = args[0];      // temporarily trying to pass in string.
            launch(args);

    JavaFX and Swing integration is documented by Oracle - make sure you understand that before doing further development.
    What are you really trying to do?  The answer to your question depends on the approach you are taking (which I can't really work out from your question).  You will be doing one of:
    1. Run your Swing application and your JavaFX application as different processes and communicate between them.
    This is the case if you have both a Swing application with a main which you launch (e.g. java MySwingApp) and JavaFX application which extends application which you launch independently (e.g. java MyJavaFXApp).
    You will need to do something like open a client/server network socket between the applications and send the data between them.
    2. Run a Swing application with embedded JavaFX components.
    So you just run java MySwingApp.
    You use a JFXPanel, which is "a component to embed JavaFX content into Swing applications."
    3. Run a Java application with embedded Swing components.
    So you just run java MyJavaFXApp.
    You use a SwingNode, which is "used to embed a Swing content into a JavaFX application".
    My recommendation is:
    a. Don't use approach number one and have separate apps written in Swing and Java - that would be pretty complicated and unwarranted for almost all applications.
    b. Don't mix the two toolkits unless you really need to.  An example of a real need is that you have a huge swing app based upon the NetBeans platform and you want to embed a couple of JavaFX graphs in there.  But if your application is only pretty small (e.g., it took less than a month to write), just choose one toolkit or the other and implement your application entirely in that toolkit.  If your entire application is in Swing and you are just using JavaFX because you think its TreeView is easier to program, don't do that; either learn how to use Swing's tree control and use that or rewrite your entire application in JavaFX.  Reasons for my suggestion are listed here: JavaFX Tip 9: Do Not Mix Swing / JavaFX
    c. If you do need to mix the two toolkits, the answer of which approach to use will be obvious.  If you have a huge Swing app and want to embed one or two JavaFX components in it, then use JFXPanel.  If you have a huge JavaFX app and want to embed one or two Swing components in it, use a SwingNode.  Once you do start mixing the two toolkits be very careful about thread processing, which you are almost certain screw up at least during development, no matter how an experienced a developer you are.  Also sharing the data between the Swing and JavaFX components will be trivial as you are now running everything in the same application within the virtual machine and it is all just Java so you can just pass data around as parameters to constructors and method calls, the same way you usually do in a Java program, you can even use static classes and data references to share data but usually a dependency injection framework is better if you are going to do that - personally I'd just stick to simply passing data through method calls.

  • How to manipulate a javascript object in java?

    Hi, I am fiddling with the java scripting interface. As I understand the rhino engine is packaged with the jdk but what I don't understand is how does one reconcile the objects one gets from their engine (e.g. sun.org.mozilla.javascript.internal.ScriptableObject) versus the ones in the rhino api (e.g. org.mozilla.javascript.ScriptableObject)?
    Is the one in the jdk heavily modified or wrappered up to suit their javax.scripting interface?
    More specifically, how do I manipulate javascript objects from java?
    e.g. suppose I have this java code:
    ScriptEngineManager mgr = new ScriptEngineManager();
    ScriptEngine js = mgr.getEngineByName("js");
    jsEngine.eval("var foo = { x : 1, y : 'hello', z : false };");
    Object o = jsEngine.get("foo");Now o is instanceof sun.org.mozilla.javascript.internal.NativeObject, which is a subclass of a bunch of other classes in the s.o.m.j.i namespace. Being internal I can't use these directly.
    Looking at the Rhino API obviously you normally get a org.mozilla.javascript.ScriptableObject and can call the .get() .getIds() methods. But I don't know how to translate the objects I am getting in my actual java code which uses the jdk engine into org.mozilla.javascript objects.
    Is this even possible? Am I misunderstanding something completely? Should I just be using the rhino js jar and not the javax.scripting interface? If so, for what reason is the javax.scripting interface implemented?

    Assuming that you DO want a deep copy, begin with a constructor that takes another hand.
    public Hand( Hand h ) { ...Then for each instance variable, within that constructor:
    this.instVar0 = h.instVar0;
    this.instVar1 = h.instVar1;
    . . .And last, for every reference, make sure there is a constructor (or copy method for arrays) that itself makes a deep copy:
    this.ref0 = new Ref0Type( h.ref0 );

  • How to return custJava Object from Java Stored Function/Procedure to Java Application

    I WILL PAY $100 FOR SOLUTION.
    Oracle JDBC documentation gives step by step on how to return Oracle Type Object to Java Application. No question here.
    But is it possible to create Java Stored Function [getMyClass() ] which returns CUSTOM Java based object [MyClass] to Java application like:
    //java stored function
    class Foo
    public static MyClass getMyClass()
    return new MyClass();
    //java class I want to return to Java
    class MyClass
    public String getGreetings(String name)
    return "Hello " + name;
    I tried to do it using intermittent Oracle
    Type Object and OracleConnection map to make binding between Java->Oracle->Java. I could
    not get throgh meaningless run time ORA Errors. Any kind of help would be greatly
    appreciated. If you know the answer please

    You don't say which version of the database you are on. There's an interesting looking article on OTN on handling CLOBs in JDBC in 10g. It may well be useful for earlier versions too (but no guarantees).

  • How can I call a java class from within my program?

    I was wondering if there's a platform independent way to call a java class from my program.

    Here's my scenario. I'm working on a platform independent, feature rich, object-oriented command prompt program. The way I'm designing it is that users can drop classes they write into my bin directory and gain access to the class through my program. For example, they drop a class named Network.class in the bin directory. They would type Network network at my command prompt and gain access to all the methods available in that class. They can then type system.echo network.ipaddress() at my prompt and get the system's ip address. I have it designed that there's a server running in the background and the clients connect to my port. Once connected the end-user can enter their user name and password and gain access to the system. When they type a command they actually call another java program which connects to my server using a seperate thread. They can then communicate back and forth. I have it set that everything has a process id and it's used to keep track of who called what program. Once the program is done it disconnects and closes. Rather than getting into the nitty gritty (I didn't want to get into heavy detail, I know how everything will work) I'm really interested in finding out how I can call a java program from my program. I don't want it to be part of the app in any way.

  • Manipulating C++ Objects in Java Through JNI

    Hi,
    I have some existing C++ classes objects that I would like to access through Java methods. However, if I use a java method to create an instance of a C++ object, and then I want to edit the state of that C++ object through java, how do I reference the correct C++ object.
    For example, if I have a C++ object called Ball, with two variables x and y representing its position and a constructor as well as set methods to set x and y. I then make a java class Ball with the same variables, constructor, and setter methods. But when the java constructor is called, I want the C++ version to be created, and when the java setter methods are called, I want the x and y of the correct C++ Ball instance to change.
    Is this is possible, and if so what are the steps needed?
    Thank you

  • How to create objects in stack

    I am working on Weblogic 10 and JDK 1.5. In Java the objects are always created in heap. Can anybody tell me how to create objects in stack?

    SKMoharana wrote:
    i need objects to be allocated in stack as my application should respond in real time (time predictable).I heard this is possible in Mustang.If I am understanding you correctly, allocating objects on the stack will not help you, and creating objects on the heap will not hurt you.
    It is provably impossible to create a truly time predictable application (in any language), so what you're really looking to do is create a program that responds acceptably quickly for an acceptable percentage of the time. For this you can create benchmarks like "responds in 250 milliseconds or less 99.5% of the time".
    To this end, you could create a prototype program that creates the objects you wish on the heap, and see if there actually is a problem. Don't fall into the trap of premature optimization.
    Even if you do discover that your object creation IS the problem, heap allocation is not the problem. Take a look at this article. It takes ten machine instructions, less than 1 millisecond, to allocate an object.
    Your performance problems are most likely in the object initialization (look for long loops or deep recursions), the display (if this is a GUI application), or your network connection (if this is a web application).

  • Is it possible in java to pass reference of object in Java?

    Hello,
    I'm relativily new to Java but I have "solid" knowledge in C+ and C# .NET+.
    Is it possible in java to pass reference of object in Java? I read some articles about weakreferences, softreferences, etc. but it seems that it's not what I'm looking for.
    Here is a little piece of code I wrote:
    package Software;
    import java.util.Random;
    * @author Rodrigue
    public class RandomText
        private Random rand = new Random();
        private Thread t;
        private String rText = "Rodrigue";
        public RandomText()
            t = new Thread()
                @Override
                public void run()
                    try
                        while(true)
                            UpdateText();
                            sleep(100);
                    catch(InterruptedException ex)
            t.start();
        private void UpdateText()
            int i = rand.nextInt();
            synchronized (rText)
                rText = String.valueOf(i);
        public String GetText()
            return rText;
    }It's just a class which start a thread. This class updates a text with a random integer 10 times per second.
    I would like to get a reference on the String rText (like in C++ ;) yes I know, I must think in Java :D). So, like that, I could get one time the reference, thanks to the GetText function, and update the text when my application will repaint. Otherwise, I always have to call the GetText method ... which is slow, no?
    Are objects passed by reference in java? Or, my string is duplicated each time?
    Thank you very much in advance!

    Ok, "Everything in Java is passed by value. Objects, however, are never passed at all.". Reference of object is passed by value too.
    But, how to solve my problem in Java_? I have an object which is continually modified in a thread. From an another side, this object is continually repainted in a form.I'm not sure I totally understand your problem. If you pass a reference to an object, then both the caller and the method point to the same object. Changing the internal state of the object (e.g. by calling a setter method) through one reference will be observed through both references, since they both point to the same object.
    No, calling a method is not particularly slow. Especially if it's just a simple getter method that returns the value of a member variable.
    If this is happening in a multithreaded context, you'll have to use proper synchronization to ensure that each thread sees the others' changes.
