How to develop a query in BI Publisher Report

I am new to BI Publisher. Could somebody help me how to prepare a query.

Thanks. That worked. I was trying to get it as part of a multi-table query, aliasing dual. But that doesn't work in SQL Plus either so I guess I can't do that.

How to improve the query performance in to report level and designer level......?
Plz let me know the detail view......

first its all based on the design of the database, universe and the report.
at the universe Level, you have to check your Contexts very well to get the optimal performance of the universe and also your joins, keep your joins with key fields, will give you the best performance.
at the report level, try to make the reports dynamic as much as you can, (Parameters) and so on.
and when you create a paremeter try to get it match with the key fields in the database.

Hi,
there's no direct support for the format triggers out of Oracle Reports. Therefore they are mentioned in the log file and in the created layout after conversion the objects with format triggers are colored red to show, that there you had to do some additional work.
Currently you had to built the logic of format triggers in BI Publisher new. Hve a look in the User Guide, there are some examples for if or choose statements.

VO Extension Error in modifying the query of XML Publisher Report Template

I have one requirement related to calling XML Publisher Reports Template from OAF Page.
When clicking on the submit button the XML Publisher template is calling and displaying the data.
Our requirement is to display some more columns in the XML Publisher Template and display the data.
As according to OAF stndards,whenever we need to add new columns for display or SELECT purpose,
we will do the VO Extension. So we modified the query by adding the new additional colums in the standard VO.
I am able to retrieve the data from the SQL DEVELOPER. But when doing the VO Extension process and
calling the template from the OAF page its throwing the following error.Please suggest me some alternatives

How to include HTML link in BI Publisher Report?

I am trying to include an HTML link in a BI Publisher report. But I get the HTML Code, not the link.
I have put this in the Data Set SQL Query:

PeopleSoft Connected Query in XML Publisher Report - Error

Hello - I'm getting this weird error when trying to run an XML Publisher report off a PeopleSoft Connected Query. The Connected Query runs fine to an XML File. Any ideas? The parent/child queries in the connected query don't use any prompts.
PCodeWTL(1/3): Prompt Field Name is invalid because it exceeds the maximum allowed size of %1 (50,493)

How to avoid blank page in xml publisher report

i have a xml report, it shows 7 rows in one page. the question is: if there are just 7 rows , when previews with pdf, it will generate 2 pages, the first page shows 7 rows, and the second page is blank.

I am running a report in xml publisher. The output of the report prints 2

How to debug a query that BI Publisher refuses to accept in a data set.

Paste query and hit OK.
Read useless error message.
Remove all report parameters.
Remove all function calls.
Place pairs of parethesis around random bits of code.
Delete one line at a time from query and attempt to hi OK each time.
Whittle down your query until it looks something like this:

Hi Nithya,
You can get the technical name by selecting the role in the portal where the report is enclosed you will generally find the report in description then identify the report you are looking then double click on that you will get a window pop-up in that you will have details tab there click on the details the your Query technical name will be displayed.
EX : zqry_w001 Then replace W with Q and seach in analyser or Designer.

In my installation , it is usually AQZZ"usergroup"========QUERYNAME======
You could see if you have a user group 'MM' or '10MM' in SQ03 and set the user group if available.. then in SQ01, see if you have a query called Z6
Also try out this function module RSAQ_DECODE_REPORT_NAME to see if it would give you the user group and query name...

How can I get query filter dates in report heading?

Hello everybody.I'm pretty new at this so I hope this is the place to ask this question.I'm trying to create a report in WebI where I want a number of cases sorted by a number of categories and between different dates. The dates are supposed to be selceted at the time you are running the report (like "I want all cases between 2006-03-13 and 2006-05-30). And this is ofcourse done by using the "Finished date" object that I've created in the universe as a filter. The dates selected in the query is supposed to be included in the report heading (like "Results of cases between {date 1} and {date 2}". I have been reading the documentation about free cells, but the only thing I've found was about last refresh date and drill level. Anyone who understand what I'm talking about <img src="/modules/tinymce/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif" alt="Smile" title="Smile" width="18" height="18" />and know how I can accomplish this?Thanks in advance!

How to Handle Junk Characters in BI Publisher Report?

Hi Team,
I have Created a column in obiee analytics report which has logic as '1/0'. After creating this column I am not getting result for this column(blank).
When Extracted the report into XML file,I am not able to see value for that column as well. This is what I need too.
But issue is, For my layout(below is sample example of my layout) It is not displaying the value as is in Analytics report in BIP Report. In Anlytics report I am getting Blank.In BIP it is giving the Junk Characters. Ex: SG&A row.
I need to replace this Junk characters with space.This is my requirement.

Hi,
there's no direct support for the format triggers out of Oracle Reports. Therefore they are mentioned in the log file and in the created layout after conversion the objects with format triggers are colored red to show, that there you had to do some additional work.
Currently you had to built the logic of format triggers in BI Publisher new. Hve a look in the User Guide, there are some examples for if or choose statements.
