How to disable a particular cell in JTable ?

I having a problem on how to set disable a particular cell in JTable. At the first place to load the JTable, I want to set some of the cell to disabled, it only will run at the first time, is there anyway to do it ?

This is the function that disable/enable cells in JTables.

     this metod belong to the TableModel function
and what I gave you is only an example of what you can do with it.
if it return false it disable and if true it enable the cell...but I think this you allready know!

I have a doubt regarding the matrix.In my matrix the first column is a combobox it has a,b,c items....so if i select 'a' the remaining 'b' & 'c' columns should get disabled....previously iam able to disable the 'b' & 'c' columns but it's disabling the total 'b & 'c' columns in my matrix.....i just want to disable the particular cell based on the combobox selection....can we disable a particular cell in matrix.....

here were many threads about this in last month. Try to search in history.
BTW, the particular cell cannot be disabled (only whole column), but you could make system, that the cell is enabled but you cannot click on it (when user clicks on the cell, set bubbleeevnt to fasle).

Setting Focus to a particular cell in JTable

Hi, can i know how to set the focus to a particular cell in JTable.
Say I have a table with 2 rows and 10 columns. The focus now is at position (1, 9) which is the last cell in the table. But I want to set the focus to (1, 3). How can i achieve this ? Pls help. Thanks

OK. It's partially working. The right methods to use are setRowSelectionInterval and setColumnSelectionInterval. Jeanette was right. Mine didn't work because of a thread issue. I put the those two methods in a block such as:
SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable(){
public void run()
table.setRowSelectionInterval(tblLineItem.getRowCount()-1,
table.getRowCount()-1);
table.setColumnSelectionInterval(0,0);
Then it worked.
But after I finished editing the first cell of the newly created row and press ENTER, the selection went back to the cell that's next to the originally editing cell on the first(old) row, instead of staying at the current row and going to the second cell.
Can anybody shed a light on what I'm missing?

How to insert checkbox at a particular cell in jtable

I am a user of jdeveloper using jclient/swing .
question:
i am using jtable. i want that whenever i click on a specified cell then text at that particular cell get clear and a checkbox inserted in that cell . whenever i click on that checkbox i.e check the checkbox,
again a text is inserted in that cell.

Did you ever get this to work? If I bind a JCheckbox to my attribute and add the checkbox to my JClient panel, the attribute value is properly bound to the checkbox with everything working correctly. Adding the checkbox as the TableCellEditor for the column doesn't work.
Also, the link to using a Combobox as a table cell editor works, but the link doesn't tell where to donwload the sample code from. Doesn't anyone know the link?

How can a disable only a particular row/column in a JTable.
I am trying to create an XML Notepad type of application for which I need the row which contains the root element or any element which has a child element to be disabled. How can I achieve this??

Create your own class which extends TableModel and in that class u override the method
public boolean isCellEditable( int row, int col)
As u know the row and col which u want to disable hard code those values in the method.
Like
public boolean isCellEditable( int row, int col)
if( row == 2 and col == 1 )
return false
else
return true

How to disable a single cell in a table (and not the whole column)

I've got a webdynpro table with a few columns, rows can be created dynamically through a button in the table toolbar.
Depending on the value of a certain cell I have to disable another cell (in the same row).
I tried to manipulate the view in the modifyview but no joy. I also tried to manipulate the attribute property through the coding below:
DATA lv_knttp TYPE knttp.
lo_nd_kostl = wd_context->path_get_node( path = `MULTIVALUES.KOSTL` ).
lo_el_kostl = lo_nd_kostl->get_element( ).
lo_el_kostl->set_attribute_property(
attribute_name = 'LTEXT'
property = lo_el_kostl->e_property-enabled
value = ''
but it disables the whole column!!!! I just need the cell to be disabled (I thought the code above, through the lead selection, would affect a certain cell only - but I was wrong).
Any ideas?

using cell variants you can do this.,

Instead of binding the read only property of table as a whole , just bind the read only property of column group of table., You can do this bu drill down the table and select the required column and bind the read only column.,
then In onAction Event of button .,
loop the table, if condition satisfied set the read only property to true else false.,!!

How to Update a particular cell in Excel with its specific cell Name?

I have connected my Java program to Excel using JDBC ODBC connection and also I am able to read/write data to Excel currently.
In my write code, I have updated the data in particular Excel cells by using conditions in "where" clause.
Example:
String $mcode="hello";

st.executeUpdate("insert into [Sheet4$] values (' " +$mcode+ " ')");
st.executeUpdate("Update [Sheet4$] set Lot1="+da1+" where Lot1='"+$mcode+"'");
But I would like to refer to the individual excel cells by their cell name instead of like the above said one.
In whatever I saw, third party tools were used to refer to the excels cells by their name. But I have to refer to in an ordinary way.
It would be great if somebody could help me in referring to Excel cells by their name.

I don't think it is possible to refer to cell in excel using jdbc, since jdbc is intended to communicate with mostly database in generic way. So you have to use queryStrings to update or retive cell info.
The only way to access them by cell name is possibly by using some third party tools.

How to disable a particular node in JTree?

I am working with an application where in which I have a tree component and when a select a node and click a disable button , I want to disable the selected node(that is no further selection of that node possible until I enable it). I am using DefaultTreeCellRenderer for rendering nodes. I tried the following.
DefaultTreeCellRenderer renderer = (DefaultTreeCellRenderer)tree.getCellRenderer();
JLabel label = (JLabel) renderer.getTreeCellRendererComponent(tree,selectedNode,true,true,false,row,true);
label.setEnabled(false);
But it doesn't work.
Does any one know how to do this?

Its not going to work if you implement the TreeCEllRenderer, cos' all it does is paint your tree.
What u need to implement is the treeSelectionListener interface,
and override the addSelectedPath(path), addSelectedPath(paths[]) etc.
You might want to create a list of all the nodes that the user selectes to diable, and then in these methods decide if the node is that then do not allow its selection.

I've seen your query all over the internet, so I should warn you I don't believe it's possible to disable a List Item.
For that you should use Josh Tynjala's open source Advanced List (http://code.google.com/p/flextoolbox/downloads/list).

How to Disable a PARTICULAR action key?

Hi,
I know how to turn off action keys from BIOS. What i want to is just disable the help action of the F1key. I basically want it o have no fuction (so that it would perform the assigned function for the game) like the f5 key on my Envy 15t. I use the f1 key in games, since every time i press it it opens up the help, i want to disable it. However, i do not want to disable the rest and want to be able use them without having to press the FN key.
I am not sure if there is a solution to this problem but i would still love to hear some suggestions.

If just for Windows XP: you should be able to disable the help stuff by disabling the Help and Support service. (start->type services.msc->press enter).
And for Windows 7 (Vista could be the same):

Disable focus on cell after JTable is disabled for editing

Hi!
I have, (like so many others ) problems with JTable.
I have a table, wich in default is non-editable. I can add rows using the "new"-button, and enter values with inputdialogs.
I can also select rows in the table( still without editing) and delete the selected rows with the "delete"-button.
BUT!
I have a "edit"-button(togglebutton). When this is pressed, user is allowed to edit cells in the table by double-clicking on them. If the user press the edit-button for the second time while the marker is in the active cell, the table once again becomes non-editable, except the active cell.
if the user, before clicking the editbutton for the second time clicks one time on an other cell, it works out great, and non of the cells are editable...
If anyone can help me, I'll be very greatfull and my boss very happy.
