How to disable TextEdit's automatic termination after closing last open document?

Hi!
I was wondering how to disable TextEdit's automatic termination after closing the last open document.
It's so annoying!
Thanks for everything!
Chris.

Quit TextEdit, launch the Terminal app in /Utilities, copy & paste this one-liner into the window that pops up, hit the return key, quit the Terminal app, and restart.
defaults write com.apple.TextEdit NSDisableAutomaticTermination -bool yes

  • How to disable auto-completing service request after completing last activity

How to disable standard rule, that change service request status to "Complete" when the last activity in this service request is completed?
    For SCSM 2012 R2

Perhaps you can use the "Closed" status as a way of indicating that your are completely finished with a service request? (This follows ITIL). It has the advantage of being an out-of-the-box feature and, by default, SR's have to be closed by
    a user.
Keep in mind, though, that closed service requests are groomed out of the CMDB (356 day retention time by default, i believe). But, they'll still be available for a few years in your data warehouse.
What is your business reason for this behavior? Console views? Custom reports?
If "Closed" doesn't cut it for you, you may want to consider extending the Server Request class with your own status property that you can use for whatever your requirements are.

  • Give us a way to get rid of the Home View screen after closing last document

After closing the last open document, a new window pops up. Please let us disable this. It's bad in a production environment, gets in the way.

    Hi Aditya
By default, OPA 10.4 will collect the minimum amount of information needed to answer the goal of your interview and then display the answer and the reasons for the answer. You can change what appears on these screens within OPM itself (you don't need to change those settings).
    So I would:
    - add a Summary Screen to your project (if you haven't already)
    - add <your goal attribute> to your summary screen. This will display as a link if the goal is unknown and as a sentence showing the outcome and a Why? link when it is known.
    - add a label to the summary screen, providing information about the outcome (eg "Congratulations you are eligible") or simply show the value of the outcome (eg Your total deduction is %deduction_amount%).
    - use visibility rules to control which items to display at the start/end of your interview (in your case, maybe hide your goal once it is known and show your label once your goal is known). See OPA help topic "Tutorial: Hiding and displaying summary screen elements".
The Inferred Brand Discount sample supplied in the OPM install provides an example of this (see Help topic Sample Rulebases for information on how to open this).
    Hope that helps,
    Fiona

    Bad idea.
Only an Admin user can use sudo, so if you have users on your system that you do not want to use sudo, then do not give them an admin account, and do not give them the password for an admin account.

  • How do I test for the presence of an active open document in Photoshop?

I’m new to Adobe scripting, and one of my first scripts deals with the activeDocument in Photoshop.
If there is no activeDocument, I want to display a message and terminate the script.  My efforts
so far have been met with frustration.  While developing the script in ExtendScript Toolkit,
I used the  test expression "activeDocument in app", and everything worked as expected. And when I installed the script
in the Photoshop scripts folder and ran it from Photoshop with a document open, it also worked.
But when I ran the script from Photoshop with no document open, it failed.
Moreover, after that, the script failed when I tried to run it in ESTK.
I did some testing and found that my test expression, "activeDocument in app"
was returning true, even though no document was open.
Still in ESTK, I replaced the “app” with ”Application” in the test expression.  That worked when
I stepped through the script.  But when I tried to run it without stopping, it stopped at the
test expression, and displayed the error message, “Application is undefined.”
So how do I test for the presence of an open document in Photoshop ??

After posting this, I discovered the Photoshop Scripting Forum, and I found my answer there.—
I should have used “app.Documents.length” as my test expression.

  • How do I make a Smart Folder for Applications last opened over a month ago?

Can anyone give me some pointers on generating a Spotlight saved search/Smart Folder under Leopard that will give me all applications NOT opened in a given time period (say one month)? I can do Kind:Application and Last Opened:before a given date (1 July 2009), but I don't believe this will update as time goes by? The date is absolute rather than relative, if you will?
Attempts at using some negation of the Last Opened:within 1 month (using a dropdown "Match None of the following rules") appears not to function as I would expect. From having a dig around in the .savedsearch it seems the trouble is attempting to negate a range rather than a fixed date?
The only thing I now suspect is that I need the .savedsearch query, which looks like this:
    +<string>((((_kMDItemGroupId = 8) && ((kMDItemLastUsedDate < 268063200))))) && (true)</string>+
To perhaps instead use +$time.this_month(-1)+ in place of the hard coded date, but danged if I know how to do so. Now it's late, and I'm posting incoherently to the Apple Support Forums. Any enlightenment appreciated. (Forgive me if this is the wrong forum - it's a Leopard/Spotlight issue)

If you go into Edit > Preferences, then on the General tab make sure that Ringtones is ticked and it should then appear on the left-hand side of your iTunes.

  • How to disable temp-files automatically in ALL user-profiles?

    Hello!
we use java in an attendance-clock-applet. unfortunately, the default system (JRE)-setting is always to KEEP the temporay files, which after a short while slows down all systems dramatically.
also, very unfortunately we use shared desktops, so every person on every computer newly creates a user-account in Win7 and therefor AGAIN is equipped with the default setting that causes the trouble with the temp files in the first place. because every employee can use ANY computer where a profile is created, these settings would have to be changed (into NOT keeping he temporary files!) manually for (number of employees x number of computers)=too much work...
i want to learn a trick, how i automatically can put de default to "do not keep temporary files on this computer" by means of a server-Group-policy!
i am now running a "clear disc-task" from a policy, but this is ugly...
if i install a new image on a client, or if a user creates a local profile by a login-procedure, i ALWAYS want to have the java-setting to NOT keep this trash BY DEFAULT....
Please help, because i din`t find help in online forums or the right regitry-setting to temper with!
    thanks from Vienna, austria

    Hi,
    Thank you for your response.
    > How would you define 'no longer needed'...?
The same as any other cached downloads: if user tries to download new large file, then previosly cached files should be automatically deleted.
But currently it is impossible to implement that.
iTunes simply displays "There is not enough room ..." message.
And user has no idea which application took soo much storage space.
He will have to uninstall all applications to reclaim storage.
I would prefer OS to automatically delete content of /tmp directories when it needs space.
Or, at least, send a notification, similar to didReceiveMemoryWarning,
so I will clean up the /tmp directory myself.
Do you know a better way?
    > Strip the cache (or block it's use completely) after each launch
This is not a solution. A user may not launch my app for a long time.
He simply does not know which app to launch to free space.

You can do that with the keyboard.
    *<b>View > Zoom > Reset</b> (Ctrl+0 (zero); Cmd+0 on Mac)
There may be an extension that has a reset zoom button.

  • How to Change URL of BPA after clicking on Open Document in PO Notification for India Localization?

In the Purchase Order Approval workflow notification , there are two links at the bottom of page under heading REFERENCES,
    - view PDF
    - open document
So when we click on open document, the Oracle Forms loads and  purchase order screen will appear in the screen.
In case of India localization, for standard PO the India local screen opens, where we can see the taxes by clicking on Taxes Button.
But in case of blanket purchase agreements, when we click on open document link from the notification,we are routed to the application with the screen of global purchase order, instead it
    should go to Purchase Orders(Localization).
We want to move to the India local po screen for BPA.
So please let me know, where I can change the URL for Blanket Purchase Agreements.

  • Three beeps after closing and opening lid.

    Hi everybody.
I have a MBP 13", late 2011. I installed 8 GB and 2 months later, I started to listen to 3 beeps and those happens when I close the lid and leave some hours closed and then I open it. I read in some foruns that it might be a software problem and not a dying HD.
I performed a memory test with memtest software and both banks look fine.
I also read that I should disable the option that turns off the HD.
When I open the lid I have to push Turn On buttom and it beeps. Then I push 5 sec to shut down the computer and when I turn it on, I see one bar being filled, meaning the computer hibernated.
After all of it, it still beeps. I think, but I'm not sure, that it only happens when I lock the computer and close the lid. I didn't try to leave with open session for hours.
I also run sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0 then 3, then 7 and last 25 and the beeps come over again. Now it is hibernatemode 3.
Is there any fix for that? Ah, I started in safety mode, with no good results.
    Thanks
    Sérgio

I'd like to add that this situation happens when I lock my account and close the lid. If I don't lock it, this problem does not happen.

  • Programs automatically relaunch last opened document?

When I open a program, it automatically reopens the last document I had open, even if I'm looking at a completely different document.  For instance, if I quit Word with one document open, and then double-click on another document, it reopens the first document along with the one I clicked on.  This seems to be new in Lion, and it seems to happen with all programs, so I'm thinking it is an OS setting somewhere. Is there a way to turn this off?

If that doesnt work on Word try this
On Finder Menu > GO and hold Alt/Option. Select Library when it appears.Look for Saved Application State folder and remove"com.microsoft.Word.savedSate".
