How to display chart region based on select list in html region ?

Hi all,
i'm using 4.0.1.00.03 apex version,in a page i have 2 regions one is html and another one is Chart region.in html region i have a select list and button.when user sign into my application select list have some values in that page,user select's a value and clicks on the button then chart will be displayed.my query is when user first sign into my application i want to dispaly chart region when only select list is selected and clicks on the button.can any one guide me on this.

as of now my application is like this..
i have a html region in that i have select list(P6_LIST) and go button
and chart region.
chart query is like this..

how it is working??
when user sign into my application, user can see html region with 'select list and go button' and chart region with 'no data '.
when user select a value in select list and click on go button automatically chart region will be dispalyed with chart.
what i wanted to change is..

when user select a value in select list and click on go button then only user can see chart region with chart.
plz help me how to do it.. :)

Chart based on Select list with submit Lov problem

Hi,
I have one page with interactive report showing username with links, date and
database actions.
Another page contains one region having flash chart based on select list with submit Lov.
The lov is created by dynamic query.
Every time when i click the 1st page report link, the 2nd page lov is populating the value automatically. But the problem is chart displays NO DATA FOUND message though the LOV has many values.
I don't want to display any null values so set to NO for LOV
I tried to write Before header computation (PL/SQL Function Body) to set the lov value, but the query is displayed as such.
I don't want to assign any static default value also as the values are dynamic for every link.
The following is my Before header computation of Select list with submit (Item name is p11_schema). (PLSQL Function Body)

Example: If there more than one records in the lov, the graph should display the 1st record. When i select another record, the chart accordingly display the selected values. But inially it should not display "NO DATA FOUND" message.
I tried using all the combinations of computation type for the lov, SQL query ( I could not use if conditon then), PLSQL expression, PLSQL function body. But it does not work out.
Can anyone please help me out.

I found out the solution for this problem as below.
But i did it in different way to tackle the dynamic query wich returns more than one record using rownum always the 1st record when it is empty instead of assigning constant (static) value like '1'. And i am returning LOV itself for both null or not null condition as below.

How to create a report based on selected item from Select list?

Hi,
I have created a tables_LOV based on:
select table_name d, table_name r from user_tab_cols
where column_name like '%_type%'
Then I created a page item ListOfTables, Display as select list and pointing to tables_LOV.
I run the page, and i can select the table i want from the drop down list.
How to create a report based on the selected item? (ex: select * from selected_table)

I think that simulates what you're trying to accomplish. I've set up the simplest method I could think of.
The report is based on an apex collection. If you are not familiar with that, you should study the documentation: APEX_COLLECTION
To recreate my example you should:
1) create an (interactive) report on your collection
SELECT *
   FROM APEX_collections
WHERE collection_name = 'MY_COLLECTION'
2) create a page_item select list for the tables you want to display (in my case this is called "P38_TABLES" )
3) create a dynamic action that triggers on change of your select list page_item. The dynamic action must be a PL/SQL procedure perfoming the following code:

How to display screens (tabs) based on user authentication

hi
i am new to jheadstart, i want to display screens (tabs) based on users, ie if i have screens of dept, grade, desig, group, type, master etc..
if user is admin display all the items in tab,
if user 1 then display only dept, grade, desig
if user2 then other settings....etc
how to do this pls help,,,,,

Report displayed based on Select List condition

Hello,
Any help would be appreciated.
I have a report and a select list, P55_MISSING. The select list contains the column names in the table that the report displays.
If I select one of the column names, I would like to display all records where that column name is null.
The sql I have at the moment is:

In order to doe this you will have to use dynamic sql (so you have to change your report type to 'SQL Query (PL/SQL Function Body Returning SQL Query)').
It would then look something like this...

How to display non-URL-based thumbnail images in JTable

I'm trying to display thumbnail images as a tooltip popup for certain cells in a JTable. The thumbnail images are java image objects that have been retrieved dynamically as the result of a separate process--there is no associated URL. For this reason, I can't use the setToolTipText() method of the JTable.
My attempts to JTable's createToolTip() method also failed as it seems the ToolTipManager never calls this method for a JTable.
As a workaround, I've added a MouseMotionListener to the JTable that detects when the mouse is over the desired table cells. However, I'm not sure how to display the popup over the JTable. The only component that I can get to display over the JTable is a JPopupMenu, but I don't want to display a menu--just the image. Can anyone suggest a way to display a small popup image over the table?

Thank You Rodney. This explains why my createToolTip() method wasn't being called, but unfortunately I'm no closer to my goal of displaying a true custom tooltip using a non-URL image rather than a text string. If I make a call to setToolTipText(), at any point, the text argument becomes the tooltip and everything I have tried in createToolTip() has no effect. However, as you pointed out, if I don't call setToolTipText(), the table is not registered with the tooltip manager and createToolTip() is never even called.
To help clarify, I have attached an SSCCE below. Please note that I use a URL image only for testing. In my actual application, the images are available only as Java objects--there are no URLs.

Based on select list, i need to retrieve values in other select list

am new to apex using apex3.2, i need to retrieve values in select list based on the other select list vale with out refreshing page.
ie i have region select list and country select list,in country corresponding region country must be display but with out refreshing page.

Hi,
you can use cascading LOV for that, i which the other LOV field will be changing depending upon the selection of other value(which is in LOV).

Display all records from 4 select list

trying to associate 4 select list where i could display all records from a list linked to an other list.
1./ Created an item for each select list
P1_employee_name
P1_departments
P1_employee_type
P1_locations
2./Set both null and default values to '-1' for each item
3./Associated these items to source columns in the Region:

When running the report, couldn't display all records from a given list associated to an other list.
e.g: Display all emp and type of emp for sales dept in Paris.

I believe the issue is that you need to group your predicates such as:
where (employee_name=:P1_employee_name
or :P1_employee_name ='-1')
and
(departments=:P1_departments
or :P1_departments ='-1')
Also, if you are not already using the "select list with submit" type items, these work great for this case as the page will be submitted when the user changes the value of employeenam and the report will then reflect this change.

Display and return value in select list.

i want to display the value in select list coming from this quary .

but i want f_name and last name with student_id .f_name and l_name store in table s_per_det.student is also in that table.

Ooh, MINUS.... Can you not use a NOT EXISTS in this case, could have a big effect on the execution plan?

How to default a value in a select list

Hi
I have an item on the page which is displayed as a select list.
The select list has an lov that returns 3 values as follows:
ACAD1M
ACAD2H
ACAD3T
the sql for this lov is as follows:
select CAL_TYPE d,cal_type r
from igs_ca_type
where s_cal_cat='ACADEMIC'
It needs to return the values in the order as shown above, however if the user does not select anything from the select list, I want it to default to the value in the middle of the list(ACAD2H)
I tried using default on the item but I could not get this to work.
Could someone explain how I can get the select list in HTMLDB to default to the value that I want regardless of which position it appears in the select list it always seems to default to the value at the top of the list.

A default value for a select list must be set to a legitimate returned value from the select list LOV query.
The default value should be set in the item "Default" section. In the "Default Value" field you should enter your query – in a form of a PL/SQL Function Body – and set the "Default Value Type" field accordingly.
The following is an example of code I'm using to set the default value of a select list to be the first displayed option (set by the user, and recorded in the dispord column):

How to get the text boxes and select lists dynamically?

Hi,
I have a requirement such that I need to create the text boxes and select lists depending on the user input at the run time. It means that if the user requires four text boxes/select lists then I need to have 4 such thing. If the user need 6 then I need to have 6.
The design may be such that initially only one text box/select list will be available when the page launches. Then as ad when the user asks for more those will be available to the user accordingly.

You can use Ajax to call textboxes and select list based on what user enters.
Otherwise make those items conditional and based on what user enters you can display textbox or select list.
You can call Single Textbox and Select List using Ajax for any number of conditions.

Do you mean that when you change the test in the master you want to refresh the detail?
Can you put up an example of your tables and foreign keys etc. on apex.oracle.com.
To me this sounds a wrong model design.
The detail should only depend on the primary key of the master. And the primary key shouldn't be updatable.

Automatic population of multiselect based on select list

Hi,
I have an issue in populating in multiselect from the data in select list.
Let me take an example and explain.
I have 3 tables: Employee, Department and a linking table for employee and department.
The select list contains employee and department is a multiselect. On selection of Employee, all the departments should be displayed and the department to which employee belongs(which is taken from the linking table) should be selected (High-Lighted). How do I do this?

The employee multiselect(P1_EMP), initially has a “Select employee”. Upon selecting Jason, it should show, all departments and highlight HR. The same for Pam.
But it is showing only the departments for the employee. If I modify the application process query to show all employees in that department, how do I highlight only that employee?

How to access the value of fiedl ( select list with redirect )

WE created one report and form. When i click in the edit button of the report
for the specific record ; the system go automatically in the form
and show me all the information. In my form ia have some fields ( select list with redirect ) in this way i store the key but i can see the description.
I want to control the delete operation in checking the value of some field
in my form. How can i do that. When i verfy the content with SESSION
my variable are empty

How to Restrict Users Rights to Change Select List

Good morning everyone,
I've got a select list that is populated using a basic query on a table. Lets say the items in the list are A,B,C and D.
At the moment the users are able to choose any of those options and they are written to the database as expected.
I want to prevent users from selecting option D unless they are a member of an authorization scheme, say SchemeX.
I've tried a validation process but can only access the current database value not the value that the user is attempting to set.
I've successfully used
APEX_UTIL.PUBLIC_CHECK_AUTHORIZATION('SchemeX')
to test whether a user is a member of SchemeX but can't quite get my hands on the value the user is trying to set.
Any ideas would be gratefully received :-)

I tried the disable options method but unfortunately that doesn't work on IE 6 .. all my users are forced to use IE 6 at the moment. Works fine in Opera which I can use for testing purposes.
Drawing on inspiration from this thread I managed to sort it out. I set "Display Extra Values" to YES in my Select List and inserted this query as the "List of values definition" :
