How to draw in class out side of it ???

Hi
Im trying to create :
class MySomething extends Component {
public MySomething() {}
public void paint(Graphics g) {
g.drawString("MySomething",10,10);
but when i call it from a applet it doesnt draw in the applet.
Thanks for all the help

Firstly, this should be posted in Applets forum. You would get more answers there than here.
Hope you are aware that Applets belong to Life cycle concept. And the life cycle is operated by the JVM. Please see how the applet life cycle works and embed what you want according to its applet flow.
Try using paint(Graphics g) from Applet's paint, update and repaint.
There could be several posts in the Applet forum on this issue.

  • How to open a document out side the .war file

    Hi all,
    I have initially stored a document outside the WEB-INF in the .war file to retrieve it from a jsp file of the same war file. But now the file has been stored at a location on the same server and outside the .war file. how can I retrieve the file path and location outside the war file from the jsp. I ve previously used the following code when retrieving from a directory "docs" of the same .war file as:
                      <td  class="FormLableLeft"><a href="#" onClick=window.open("/docs/<%=colData.get("DOCUMENT_NAME")%>")><%=colData.get("File_NAME")%></a> </td>please suggest me how to retrieve the document located outside the war.

    Create a servlet which reads the file from the local file system and writes it to the outputstream of the response after having set the response headers accordingly. Then simply call that servlet by URL along with the file ID as request parameter or pathinfo. You may find this example useful: [http://balusc.blogspot.com/2007/07/fileservlet.html].

  • Can't figure out how to print on the right side of a greeting card using a 5X7 when folded

    I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500A.   I am trying to print a greeting card, but cannot figure out how to print on the right side of the paper so that it's on the correct side when folded.    The paper is 5X7 when folded, 10X7 laid flat.

    shgilljx,
    Welcome to the forums. I will try to explain this in simple terms, and you'll have to play with it. We'll use plain paper, cut to 10x7. You'll need a marker, 4-5 sheets of paper.
    Lay paper flat, number top 1, bottom 2. Flip paper over right to left. number top 3, and bottom 4.Draw a line where the fold would be on each page.1) Put paper with number 3 side up in printer.
    To create both templates using MW Office, do this. The requires 2 documents. One is graphic, one is text.
    Text template: The text will be printed on number 2.  That means your wording must be within the bottom half of the page.
    Graphic template: The image must be rotated 180 degrees.The image must be within the top half of the page.
    Print the text template. Insert side #3 into the printer. The text should print on side #2.
    Print the graphic template: Insert side #1 into the printer. The graphic should print on side #3.
    When folded, all should be correct, if I did it right.

    I opened the hard drive and found some intrusive files under places in left side of window..  How do I take them out?

    Thanks for the reply. I was able to save the data on the Macbook Air whose HD got corrupted by using File Sharing (ethernet connecting two Macbook Airs).
    I am also going to make a disk image of the HD using Disk Utility and mount that Disk Image onto an external hard drive. That way I can save the hard drive contents.

    it says C:\PinnacleDummyData.xml not found i work space , how to make it look for the file out side work space (particularly given location)Why dont you include the xml file in your workspace/web application?
    All these are custom tags, right? So somewhere in the code for the custom tags, it would load the xml file for parsing.
    There are different ways to load a file. The first is to use the absolute path (not recommended) and anyways I dont think your application does it that way because then your file would have been loaded even if it's outside the web application folder.
    The better approach is to load the file as a resource stream.
    The ServletContext object has a method getResourceAsStream() to load files from the web application path. But then the xml file has to be inside the web application and if this is indeed how your tags have been coded, you have no other option but to include the xml file in your web application.
    There is another way - to use the ClassLoader's getResourceAsStream() method. The ClassLoader looks up the classpath variable to search for files. In this case, you need to add your xml file location (c:/dir or whatever) to the application server's classpath. Look up in the startup scripts for your application.
    As I said, it all depends upon the tag code that looks up the xml file and whether you can tweak it.
    cheers,
    ram.

  • How do I find classes in a package

    Hi,
    I am working on an automation tool which is to be used for testing public API's in our product. The tool is supposed to work this way:
    1. A developer of the API adds a new java file containing the test code for the API in a particular package (which the tool defines). Then he compiles and places the stuff in a jar. There is also a driver class in this same package path defined by the test tool. E.g.
    driver class: com.aaa.bbb.DriverClass
    new API test file: com.aaa.bbb.TestFile
    Now the driver file's job is to find out all the other classes in this particular package and then do some processing. When I tried doing the getPackage() on this driver class to find out about the package I got back a null.
    Question 1: How can I get the package for a particular class (An ugly way to do this would be to strip it out from the classname)
    Question 2: How can I find out what other classes are there in a package?
    Thanks in advance on this.

    hai
    i have the same problem to finding the classes in package...
    in my case i know the jars name and i have loaded
    classes using code
    ResourceBundle bundle = ResourceBundle.getBundle("source\\ClasssPath");
    StringTokenizer stToke = new StringTokenizer(bundle.getString("ClassPath"),";");
    String temp;
    ClassLoader classLoader = ClassLoader.getSystemClassLoader();
    while(stToke.hasMoreTokens())
         temp = stToke.nextToken().trim();
    if(temp.endsWith(".jar"))
    JarFile jar = new JarFile(new File(temp));
         Enumeration en = jar.entries();
         String pathStr;
         while(en.hasMoreElements())
         pathStr = en.nextElement().toString();
         System.out.println("pathStr ="+pathStr);
         if(pathStr.endsWith(".class"))
              System.out.println( classLoader.getResource(pathStr));
              System.out.println(classLoader.loadClass(pathStr.substring(0,pathStr.indexOf(".class")).replace('/','.').trim()));
         else classLoader.loadClass(temp);
    here i am getting the classes in that package using code
         String[] filLis = new File("//it//sella//converter//ptlf//startup//").list();
         int length = filLis.length;
         while(length-- >0)
         System.out.println(">"+filLis[length]);
    but its returnign the class when this classes in locale folder(i.e)its not getting the classes in loaded memory...
    so how to retrieve the class files names using package structure name...
    (i am having more then 20 jars files, inthat inside the jar samepackage structue may appear in more then one jars )
    pls help me in this field..
    Thanx

    Please, is there anyone one out who can help me solve this problem? I just can seem to figure out how to get to the U.S. store... thanks!

    I just read this solution, tried it & now it's working...
    I think I found a fix...I went to Settings, iTunes & App Stores, then click on your Apple ID...view Apple ID...change country region to USA (even though it was already USA...just do it again...go through the steps making sure the United States store is selected...agree to the Terms of Service, THEN I think what the key is is to RE-auhorize your credit card...in my case all I had to do was enter the security code...and it worked...I am now able to download the YouTube app for example...couldn't do it before.
