How to enforce 72 chars/line in ABAP editor?

Hello,
While trying to transport a custom function module from 6.4 to 4.6C, I came to realize that 4.6C chops source lines after 72 characters.
Is there a way to force a "word wrap" in 6.4 ABAP editor so that the code become compatible with 4.6C?
Or, is there a way to force 4.6C to accept ABAP lines longer than 72 characters?

In SE38, in the menu, 'Utilities>Settings>ABAP Editor tab-->Editor tab', you will see a check box at the bottom of the screen 'Default line length(72)'. Check that.

Pretty Printer ONLY for selected lines in ABAP editor?

I have done SETTINGS(Menu----Utilities) in PRETTY PRINTER in my ABAP editor that, all KEY WORDS shuld b in UPPER CASE.
Say, I hv written code(in raw format, not yet pressed the PRETTY PRITER) like below,
ABAP Code Line_1
ABAP Code Line_2
ABAP Code Line_3
ABAP Code Line_4
ABAP Code Line_5
I want to hv pretty printer format for Line 3 and Line 5 ONLY!! I do not want to hv it for other lines, so, I high lighted(selected) those lines (3 and 5) and pressed pretty printer, but, am getting the pretty printer format for all the rest of the code as a single shot!!
So, pls. let me know that, How I can get the pretty printer format ONLY for the lines, for which I wished(selected by high lighting)?
And also let me know, How Can I do automatic(not manually) indentation for my code as a part of pretty printer? Actually, I tried but, am not getting even though I checled the check box intendation in SETTINGS!!

Preety printer will work on all the code that is avaliable in window,
In case. if you want to do partial , copy your code in seperate window and do Pretty Printer for it.

Commenting a Line in ABAP Editor when using SAP GUI for java

In ABAP editor we can highlight the line which are to be comment and use cmd+< sign to comment those lines. What will be the command to be used to achieve the same functionality when using SAP GUI for JAVA on an iMac.

please check with SAP GUI for Java 7.20 rev 5 before submitting a bug report.
Also please verify, that cmd-< and cmd-> are not assigned as "Keyboard Shortcuts" in the "Keyboard" control panel of "System Preferences".
Bug reports can be submitted with the [SAP Message Wizard|http://service.sap.com/message], for SAP GUI for Java please use component BC-FES-JAV.

How do i get the syntax coloring done in abap editor? Is it possible to get the different colors for different keywords in abap editor?

Hello,
There is no option for colour.But you can change the key words to upper case.
For that first go to Utilities->Settings->ABAP EDITOR TAB->PRETTY PRINTER TAB.
Now u can check INDENT and upper or lower case depending on your requirements.This is for pretty printer settings.
Come back to your code and click on pretty printer and the keywords are changed to upper-case.

How do i change font in new abap editor

I had read the old thread that use Ctrl+scroll mouse but i think it just zoom in/zoom out.
When i activate it or change to another program, it's back to small font again.

try the below steps,
1. Click 'Customize local layout' button in tool bar (Alt+F12)
2. Select font.
here you can change the font, but it affect all the area in the layout.

Deleting line from ABAP screen..

Hello,
I have a ABAP report when excuted, showsn mulpiple reords one by one wirtten on screen using write statement along with checkboxes besides it and I am also appending an internal table with these values.
Now, User can select the check boxes for the line records. Also there is a delete button in the application toolbar.
Now, when the delete button is executed, I want the lines which are selected on the ABAP output screen to be deleted so that only records which were not selected using check box will be shown.
I know for this I have to code in AT-User command but how do we delete the lines from ABAP screen.
AT user-command.
CASE SY-UCOMM.
WHEN 'DELETE'.
ENDCASE

Based on which ever field is selected you can delete from the internal table and then refresh the ALV.

How to display values and new char line (blank line)

Hi,
In database, one field contains values followed by new character lines (blank lines) after blank lines there is no values. Finally, I would say the field contains values and blank lines. Every thing is fine in database.
In Crystal Reports the field is displaying only values. Need to display values and blank line.
User is asking after values new character lines (blank line) to be shown. They enter like that in an application. The user doubt is why report is not showing what they enter in the application.
In detail explanation, front end tool is ASP.NET and backend is SQL Server.
User enter some values in note field, after that they hit enter button in the same field, cursor will go next line...user may hit u2018enter buttonu2019 more than 5 times. So note field contain values and some blank lines which are created by after hitting enter button.
If user opens the application, they could see values plus blank lines in the note field.
They are fine with the application.
In Crystal Reports, the note field shows only values.
User is questioning that why we could not see in report we enter.
I checked in .Net application and SQL server database it is fine. It is displaying values and blank line.
Please help me out how to display values followed by blank lines in Crystal Reports - the way they enter in the application.

it is not exactly null values.
In .Net application it is called 'new char line'.
it shows those many lines look like null.
it is working fine in database.
Why it is not working in Crystal Reports? I am wondering...

User may enter any number of blank lines or they may not enter blank lines.
That is the reason I can not always give more height or blank text object.

How to read the last line in a txt file?

I want to read the last line in a txt file. There are thousands of lines in this file. What I want is to move the file pointer directly to the last line of the file. But I did not know how do to it. Can anybody help me out?

You can not change the width of ABAP editor, You can only change the compatibility because the older ABAP editor only supports 72 char length, so in your new ABAP editor you can go to utilities->ABAP EDITOR->EDITOR and check the "Downward-Compatible line length(72)" .

How to create a multi-line table/column comment

Can someone tell me how to create a multi-line table or column comment?
Apparently, the concatenate operator (||) does not work with the COMMENT statement.
I've searched the Oracle manuals and couldn't find an answer.
COMMENT ON TABLE sometbl IS 'i would like to break up this comment into several lines in order to improve readability'; Effectively, this is what I'd like to do (but it doesn't work):
COMMENT ON TABLE sometbl IS
'i would like to break up ' || CHAR(10) ||
'this comment into several lines ' || CHAR(10) ||
'in order to improve readability' || CHAR(10); Oracle version is 10.2.0.4

Why not just
SQL> create table t (a int)
Createtable successfully completed.
SQL> comment on table t is 'i would like to break up
this comment into several lines
in order to improve readability'
