How to enter a range of ports in the firewall

Does anyone know the syntax of how to enter a range of ports in the firewall so I don't have to enter each individual number?
For instance, to open port 15000 to 15264, is it possible to type something like "15000 - 15264" instead each port followed by a comma?
Thanks.

Hi,
In Tiger it is the same as the comma and dashes thing I listed for some routers.
You can also click the Edit button in that pic I posted and look at which ports are listed (they will be greyed out on the Preset ones)
Windows Sharing should list the SMB ports and the Printing ports.
EDIT:
Actually on this page where I listed how to set up iChat - SMB is a separate line.
(Printing sharing may also list the Windows Print Sharing port)
If those don't cover the Windows app you want to communicate with you will have to make your own Entry Like the Edit link I just inserted)

  • How to open a range of ports in RV016

    I am trying to add a couple VOIP phone units that do not have their own router.  They are designed to run of the existing router and have three ranges of UDP ports opened up.  They also do not advise using internal (private) statics on the phones.
    So what they are asking for is three different ranges of UDP ports to be opened up to all behind the router?
    I cannot figure out how to do this (or if it is possible) with a RV016.
    Can anyone advise on this?
    Thanks in advance.

    Take a look at this example. RV016 has similar Web admin interface as RV042.
    http://flipvideo-sp2.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/16555/~/setting-port-range-forwarding-for-the-rv042
    You can define all the ports in a range you want to forward to an internal IP address as one service.
    You can have one range of ports for each IP phone.
    If you still have difficulty, feel free to call the Support Center.

  • How to unblock UDP ports from the firewall of the Time Capsule

    Hello i just bought a time capsule and i am trying am using it as a router. I am trying to use Shakespeer
    that is like a server where you share files within the University,it runs with Dtella. However, when y try to get online a message tells me that the firewall of the router is blocking the UDP ports needed....how do i unblock those UDP ports so i can get online?
    Here is the message:
    In order for Dtella to communicate properly, it needs to receive UDP traffic
    [19:14] <*Dtella> from the Internet. Dtella is currently listening on UDP port 4000, but the
    [19:14] <*Dtella> packets appear to be getting blocked, most likely by a firewall or a router. If
    [19:14] <*Dtella> this is the case, then you will have to configure your firewall or router to
    [19:14] <*Dtella> allow UDP traffic through on this port. You may tell Dtella to use a different
    [19:14] <*Dtella> port from now on by typing !UDP followed by a number.

    Hello albertoPeralta. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
    To open ports on the Time Capsule, you would use the AirPort Utility to configure Port Mapping.
    AEBSn - Port Mapping Setup
    To setup port mapping on an 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn), either connect to the AEBSn's wireless network or temporarily connect directly, using an Ethernet cable, to one of the LAN port of the AEBSn, and then use the AirPort Utility, in Manual Setup, to make these settings:
    1. Reserve a DHCP-provided IP address for the Shakespeer host device.
    Internet > DHCP tab
    o On the DHCP tab, click the "+" (Add) button to enter DHCP Reservations.
    o Description: <enter the desired description of the host device>
    o Reserve address by: MAC Address
    o Click Continue.
    o MAC Address: <enter the MAC (what Apple calls Ethernet ID if you are using wired or AirPort ID if wireless) hardware address of the host computer>
    o IPv4 Address: <enter the desired IP address>
    o Click Done.
    2. Setup Port Mapping on the AEBSn.
    Advanced > Port Mapping tab
    o Click the "+" (Add) button
    o Public UDP Port(s): 4000
    o Private IP Address: <enter the IP address of the host server>
    o Private UDP Port(s): 4000
    o Click "Continue"

  • I need to open specific ports in the firewall - how do you do that?

    Hi There,
    I'm trying to setup a web development server on a spare mac mini but I can't figure out how to open ports for the MySQL server under Snow Leopard.
    Is there a way to do this? I've set the firewall to allow MAMP to open ports whenever it needs to but when I do a port scan of the Mac mini the MySQL port doesn't show up - SSH, HTTP and VNC do however.
    I'm happy to configure it via the Terminal but I can't find any info on how to do this in Snow Leopard as I think it's different from Leopard (based on what I've found online).
    e.g.
    $ ipfw show
    Gives me an error:
    "ipfw: socket: Operation not permitted"
    Any help would be much appreciated
    Cheers
    Ben

    After digging around it looks like Snow Leopard doesn't use ipfw for opening ports.
    Does anyone know how to open ports in Snow Leopard? Apple don't seem to have any info on this - besides the allow incoming connections for certain applications.
    Will try WaterRoof and see what happens.
    Cheers
    Ben

  • Opening a port in the firewall

    I want to be able to use pulptunes, but I need to be able to open a port in my firewall (15000), how do I go about this?

    erikagwen,
    Leopard has a new "Application Firewall." What this means for you is that it will automatically configure itself to allow your application to communicate, opening ports as needed, provided you authorize it to do so. When you first launch the application, the firewall will detect the "sockets" that it creates, and ask if you wish to allow it to accept outside requests.
    It is also likely that you are behind a router, which will be running its own firewall. For this, you'll need to first determine the ports involved, then check and follow your router's documentation for forwarding those ports to your computer.

  • OSX ML firewall is blocking smtp/imap connection to the server. how can i enable it without turning off the firewall?

    With the firewall turned on and with the "block all incoming connections" option untick, I can send email to internal and external addressee. However,
    1. Mail clients both from LAN and from outside (WAN connected) could not connect to the mail server. Both SMTP and IMAP could not connect to the server.
    2. External MTA (say from google or yahoo MX server) could not connect to the server too.
    both of these issues are resolved if I set the firewall to OFF. Is there a workaround without turning this off? appreciate your input/advise..

    I've used Mail on Exchange and Gmail with the firewall on for send/recieve on my Mac no problem there.
    However,  are you asking about the MacServer? If so, you're in the wrong section...
    Remember how public-facing systems work, they have to be universally accessible directly or through a DMZ zone in the firewall/gateway. This means the firewall/gateway has to be upstream from the server, not directly on the server.
    Also, check your DNS settings on the computers and server both inside and outside the network.

  • Toll Fraud Protection - How to enter /24 range?

    A VOIP provider uses a 74.122.242.0/24 network range for incoming and outgoing VOIP services.
    Their setup documents request that we allow the entire range.
    Typical of Cisco, the CCA only allows individual IP addresses to be entered.
    Can someone inform me of a way to add the entire /24 without having to enter each address into the CCA individually?

    Hello Brook,
    I am not sure if it could be added through CCA maybe CLI only.

  • How to enter numbers in Arabic font in the fields

    Hi Everyone,
    I installed Adobe Reader 10.0.1 multi-Language and I am able to enter Arabic alphabet in the fields, but when I enter numbers in the fileds, it is English. I don't have this issue in MS-Word. i.e., both letters and numbers depend on my keyboard setting and is English or Arabic respectively. The numbers setting in windows in "depend on context" and I think is fine. Do you know how I can fix this issue? Is there any setting in Adobe that overwrights the Windows setting for numbers?
    Thanks a lot

    I won't say I am very clear about this topic. But I will give an example, which seems to show that number (in the double type) is logically of the form -000.00 while locale spacific String object can be both of the forms "000.00-" and "-000.00"
    // you can show the string below (formatted) on a JLabel with the following
    //<JLabel_instance>.setFont(new Font("Lucida Sans", Font.PLAIN, 22));
    NumberFormat nf = NumberFormat.getInstance(new java.util.Locale("ar","EG"));
    //NumberFormat nf = NumberFormat.getInstance(new java.util.Locale("fr","Fr"));   // compare
    DecimalFormat df=null;
    DecimalFormatSymbols dfs= null;
      if (nf instanceof DecimalFormat) {
          df = (DecimalFormat)nf;
          dfs = df.getDecimalFormatSymbols();
          dfs.setZeroDigit('\u0660');// set the beginning of the range to Arabic digits.. this can be commented out
          df.setDecimalFormatSymbols(dfs);
      String formatted = nf.format(-1234567.89);

    When entering comments for a song (in Command-I Info), is there an easy way to break the comment into multiple lines?
    I realize that I can copy-and-paste from a text editor, but (a) it's cumbersome (b) the line breaks don't show in the Comments column, so it's pretty ugly.

    Hi Don,
    The row list, as you call it, is just an aid during document development. It is designed to disappear when you take the focus off the table, and never shows up in a printout. If you need the row numbers in your printout, add a column with the numbers in it.

  • Forwarding a range of ports in 8.4

    I have an ASA 5505 running 8.4(1), and I'm configuring it with ASDM 6.4(1).  The outside interface is configured with a single static address.  I have a few services port forwarded sucessfully to three different servers on the inside network.
    I need to make a media proxy on a SIP server available to the outside.  It requires a large range of forwarded UDP ports for the media channels.
    I tried adding a network object NAT rule like the others I'm already using to forward HTTP and RDP.  I entered a range of ports for the real port and the mapped port using the syntax 60000-60999.  ASDM accepted it, but the NAT rule list displays "Any" in the service column.  When I apply the change, I get the following error:
    nat (inside,outside) static interface service tcp 60000-60999 60000-60999
                                          ^
    ERROR: % Invalid input detected at '^' marker.
    How do I forward a large range of UDP ports from the outside interface to a single server on my inside network?  I'd like to use ASDM, but I can switch to the CLI if that works better.
    Thanks,
    Alan

    Hi Alan,
    After version 8.3 the Nat is more flexible.
    You can configure an object service and apply this to the Nat.
    On this way you  configure just one line for the Nat.
    Also remember to open the ports on the ACL that you have applied to the outside interface.
    For example:
    You have an internal server"10.10.10.10"
    object service UDP-PORTS
    service udp source range 60000 60999
    exit
    object network obj-10.10.10.10
    host 10.10.10.10
    exit
    nat (inside,outside) source static obj-10.10.10.10 interface service UDP-PORTS UDP-PORTS

  • How i configure various ports in the same service in a CSS.

    Hi,
    I have the following scenario:
    2 webserver running each one ports 80,81,82,83,84
    and i have a content rule defined in port 80.
    At the end i want that all the request that comes to the VIP port 80 be balanced through the 2 webservers in the differents ports(80,81,82,83,84).
    Note: I have configured a range of ports in the same service but this doesn't function:
    service PS
    ip address 10.0.0.5
    protocol tcp
    port 80 range 5
    keepalive type http
    keepalive method get
    active
    What can i do?
    gfiguereo.

    Hi,
    The only thing that comes to mind is to have a service defined for each tcp port. So since you have 2 physical servers and 5 different ports for each, you would have 10 services.
    service PS1
    ip address 10.0.0.5
    port 80
    service PS2
    ip address 10.0.0.5
    port 81
    then another 3 that look like this one only using ports 82,83,84
    then another 5 like the above 5 only the ip address would be differnt.
    Then you would have 10 services added to your port 80 content rule..

  • How does ARP work on WAN port and on IP alias

    I have 10  public ip addresses  and I have only 1 WAN port . So I have created aliases on the WAN port of the  firewall . Then  I have forwarded the ports of all the public ips to internal machines . The questions I have
    1. Will the alias broadcast mac address ?
    2.Will the WAN interface broadcast mac address ?
    3. How will the upstream device will know which IP has which mac ?
    4. What is the use of proxy arp in this scenario ?
    5. Does gratuitous arp play any role here .?
    Here is the setup
    ISP link Fibre Connection >ISP device >Switch >Firewall >LAN computers
    Please let me know the arp flow over the wan and the working of IP alias .

    Hi,
    APs on a different subnet then you have to
    1. configure DHCP option 43 on the APs subnet
    2. put in a DNS entry for CISCO-LWAPP-CONTROLLER.localdomain.
    3. Use IP helper address on the Router
    Check step 4,5& 6 in Layer 3 LWAPP WLC Discovery Algorithm:
