How to fire TreeEvent from ActionScript?

Hi,
I want tp fire a TreeEvent (TreeEvent.ITEM_OPEN,TreeEvent.ITEM_CLOSE,etc.) from ActionScript.
I want to be able to open branches, double-click node(leaf),etc from ActionScript.
Can anybody provide an example or suggest  a way to accomplish this.
Thanks,
Pradeep.

I'm not very familiar with the Automation framework, but I think you're getting your path's crossed.  You're TreeEvent should really only be tied to the tree you're working with and should be the handler for all items in the Tree.
If you're simply trying to automate the tree opening for you...I would think that the Automation framework had some funtions to take an object and an event that should it do probably based on a timer value, but I'm not too familiar with Automation in Flex.  From here I can't really help you as I have never messed with the Automation Framework...
I came across this in a quick google, so hopefully this helps:

    Android devices do not support built in printing liek airprint on your apple device, so you will have to use the HP Eprint Home and Biz app in order to print from that device. It is available for free in the Amazon Market.

  • How to call java method from actionscript

    I've just now started working on Flex. May be its basic question but I’m not aware of it – how can I call a java method from actionscript. I want to call some java method on double click of a event. Can you please let me know how to proceed on this?

    OK. So, I think we can all conclude that you don't need to call any Java method, can't we? And, that wfUpdateMetadata is the command that will update your metadata.
    Now, the question is what are its arguments. It has two - the first is the name of a custom metadata field to be updated (let's suppose that one field is called xMinorVersion, and the other xMajorVersion), the other is the new value, e.g. <$wfUpdateMetaData("xMinorVersion", "New value.")$>As for new value - do you insist on using strings? Since you want to increase the value, it would be more convenient to work with numbers. For instance, with integers you could go with <$wfUpdateMetaData("xMinorVersion", xMinorVersion + 1)$>With strings you will need to convert it to numbers and back to strings. Besides, what happens if you have more than 100 minor versions? (you mentioned you want to add 0.01, but that would finally increase the major version, wouldn't it?) So, I think these two numbers are independent (perhaps, with exception that increase on the major version set the minor version to .00).
    If you want to present it, you can use profiles that will construct for you the representation 2.304 out of MajorVersion = 2, MinorVersion = 304

  • How can I convert an ActionScript 2 website to ActionScript3?

    I have a website which currently uses Action Script 2.
    When I change the Publish settings from Flash 7 to Flash 9
    and from ActionScript 2 to ActionScript 3, then publish the file, I
    get the following warning:
    WARNING: Actions on button or MovieClip instances are not
    supported in ActionScript 3.0. All scripts on object instances will
    be ignored.
    What can I do to correct this error?
    Is there a simple tutorial that explains how to make the
    changes?
    I subscribe to Lynda.com but I haven't seen useful there.
    I should warn you that I am a beginner when it comes to
    coding.
    Thank you

    Hi NickLW,
    In AS3 there's (like the error mentions) no attaching script
    to
    instances directly. You probably have something like:
    on(release){
    gotoAndPlay( 5 );
    well, atleast the "on( something )" part...
    That's a nono in AS3.
    You'd have to change it to code in a keyFrame in the timeline
    like:
    my_btn.addEventListener( MouseEvent.CLICK, onClick );
    function onClick( e:MouseEvent )
    gotoAndPlay( 5 )
    where my_btn is the instancename of the button.
    Look for migration from as2 to as3 in available resources
    (like:
    http://www.mandalatv.net/fcny/)
    Sure there's no mention on the Lynda courses?

  • How to receive XML from Flex HTTP POST

    Hi,
    We curreontly have a setup where we have a FLEX frontend send an XML through a HTTP POST and awaiting a response also in XML. On the backend this is handled relatively simply by a PHP script that basically does the following:
    read data (in XML)from FlEX HTTP POST into a new temp XML file.
    execute a c++ program with the XML file as one of the parameter.
    return the result to FLEX
    We have decided to move to BlazeDS for various reasons.
    Looking at the examples bundled with BlazeDS they have a jsp example that returns an XML result to FLEX so that part is fine. I am trying to find an example of JSP (or Servlet) that is able to read the XML data from FLEX and write it into a temp XML file. I would then try to use runtime.exec to invoke a local C++ program to process the XML file the result of which will be sent back to FLEX.

  • How to close PopUp (from taskflow region)???

    Can someone, please, explain how to solve this use-case:
    I have PopUp in which I put a region (in which is a small TaskFlow consiting of 2 JSFFs). I want to have Cancel and OK buttons in both JSFFs in TaskFlow. How to close PopUp from within TaskFlow ??? I saw the TaskFlow Return component in ADF TaskFlow diagram components (in palette) but haven't found any help/documentation on it. Or, should I use Return listener on command button used to rise popup (but, still, how to close popup from taskflow?)?
    Any help would be great!
    Thanks in advance,
    Marko

    mimarko,
    Regions/Taskflows are meant to be isolated reusable components. They are not meant to
    have knowledge of their parent or container. That said, code contained with in a region should not attempt to reach out an modify the parent. Regions can fire contextual events that can be handled by a listener declared in the parent pages pageDef. However, attempting to close a popup from a context listener would be bad practice. The easiest fixt is to put the popup in the taskflow for your region. That will create a reusable popup that you can use through out your application.

  • GlassPane: How to fire the ActionEvent of a JPanel

    Hello Everyone,
    I'm developing an application with a glasspane added to it. The idea is that some JPanels which act as an Button
    can be "clicked" through the glasspane.The other components may not be clicked when the glasspane is enabled
    When i click on the glasspane on a location where a JPanel is located, the correct Jpanel is found by getDeepestComponentAt (tested by using System.out).
    but when i dispatch the event(mouseclick) on this JPanel the actionEvent isn't fired.
    The JPanels are located in another class file then the glasspane is.
    My question is how to fire a ActionEvent from another class?

  • Fire event from one class to another.

    I have a Login JFrame class that allows users to enter username and password. I then have another JFrame class which will monitor when someone logs in. I am trying to get the username and password to appear on the monitor login frame text area when the user presses enter on the login frame.
    I can get it ot work by passing the Monitor class into the Login classes constructor but I want to be able to open the classes separately.When I try to open separatley at present I get java.lang.NullPointerException
         at project.LoginGUI.actionPerformed(LoginGUI.java:70) which is referring to the following code:
    if(listen.equals("OK")){
         GymMonitor.username.setText(username.getText());
    Both classes are in the same package. What I want to know is how to fire an event from one class to another? when the class you are firing to is constructed separately.
    I hope this question is not too verbose.
    Thanks

    Generally for something like this you would use a listener.
    Your login window is its own entity--it has a user interface, and it gets some information which someone else could ask it for. It could even generate its own events, such as when the user presses "OK". You would first define an interface for anyone who wants to know when someone logs in:
    public interface ILoginListener extends java.util.EventListener
      public void login(LoginEvent event);
    }You would then define the LoginEvent class to contain information like what the user entered for username and password. You could give your login dialog a couple of methods:
      private Vector myListeners = new Vector();
      public void addLoginListener(ILoginListener listener) {
        myListeners.add(listener);
      public void removeLoginListener(ILoginListener listener) {
        myListeners.remove(listener);
      protected void fireLogin(LoginEvent event) {
        for (Iterator it = myListeners.iterator(); it.hasNext(); ) {
          ILoginListener listener = (ILoginListener)it.next();
          listener.login(event);
      }You'd have your login dialog call fireLogin every time the user logged in.
    Then, you could implement ILoginListener in your monitor window:
      public void login(LoginEvent event) {
        // now do something with the event you just got.
      }All the code I put in here is really generic stuff. You'll write this kind of stuff hundreds of times probably during your career. I haven't tested it though.
    Hope this helps. :)
