How to get Array elements

Folks
in my JSP i have a combo box where in user can select multiple values and in my Servlet i set them using a Serilizable object
public void setSites(String[] sites)
this.sites = sites;
and in my EJB i get them as
public String[] getSites()
return sites;
This is my query
select * from sites where site_id in ( " + @sites + ")",
So how do i pass this to my query as {a,b}
Any code help is appreciated
Thanks
mathew

String [] theSites = new String[2];
theSites[0] = a;
theSites[1] = b;
someObject.setSites(theSites);I don't know how you get a and b, but if you know how to get them from your query, you should be able to use the above to call setSites.
If that isn't what you want to know, please clarify your question.

  • How to modify array elements from a separate class?

    I am trying to modify array elements in a class which populates these fields by reading in a text file. I have got mutator methods to modify the array elements and they work fine in the same class.
    public class Outlet {
         private Outlet[] outlet;
         private String outletName;
         private int phoneNumber;
         private int category;
         private int operatingDays;
    static final int DEFAULT = 99;
         public void setPhoneNumber(int newPhoneNumber) {
              phoneNumber = newPhoneNumber;
         public void setCategory(int newCategory) {
              category = newCategory;
         public void setOperatingDays(int newOperatingDays) {
              operatingDays = newOperatingDays;
    public static void readFile(Outlet[] outlet) throws FileNotFoundException {
              Scanner inFile = new Scanner(new FileReader("outlets.txt"));
              int rowNo = 0;
              int i = 0;
              String outletValue;
              while (inFile.hasNext() && rowNo < MAXOUTLETS) {
                   outlet[rowNo] = new Outlet();
                   outletValue = inFile.nextLine();
                   outlet[rowNo].setOutletName(outletValue.toUpperCase());
                   outlet[rowNo].setPhoneNumber(DEFAULT);
                   outlet[rowNo].setCategory(DEFAULT);
                   outlet[rowNo].setOperatingDays(DEFAULT);
              inFile.close();
         public static void displayUnassignedOutlets(Outlet[] outlet) {
              int i = 0;
              System.out.println("Showing all unassigned Outlets");
              System.out.println(STARS);
              for (i = 0; i < MAXOUTLETS; i++ ) {
                   if (outlet.getCategory() == DEFAULT) {
                   System.out.println("\nOutlet Number: " + (i + 1) + "\t" +
                             outlet[i].getOutletName());
    Now in the other class that I want to modify the array elements I use the following code but I get an error that "The expression type must be an array but a Class ' Outlet' is resolved".
    So how can I modify the array elements? What do I have to instantiate to get the following code to work?

  • How to get Array values from context

    In my jsp page, I have a group of checkboxes, named "checkbox" and each of them has a different value.
    <form>
    <input type=checkbox name=checkbox value=1>
    <input type=checkbox name=checkbox value=2>
    After I submit the form, I need to get the checkbox's values from next page's control file, which is a Java file. In the Java file, I use "com.sap.mbs.core.api.Context" class,
    String cbString = (String)context.getNodeList().get("checkbox");
    but I can only get the value of the first checkbox.
    I have tried context.getValue("checkbox", 0), context.getValue("checkbox", 1), context.getValue("checkbox", 2), but all I got is "null".
    I beleive the context has the value of the checkbox array. But how to get them out? Thanks a lot!

  • [AS][CS4] How to get XML element of grep find result?

    Hi,
    Does anyone know how to get the xml element of a grep find result?
    I have multiple text frames, each containing multiple paragraphs. Each paragraph can contain one or more different xml tagged pieces of text.
    Using a simple search function I can locate the text I need, but how do I retreive the xml element applied to that piece of text.
    Using the "associated XML element" property, it doesn't work.
    set find what of find grep preferences to "€( )*(\\d)*"
    tell active document
              set myResult to find grep
              set myItem to item 1 of myResult
              set myElement to associated XML element of myItem
              -- The last line throws an error
    end tell
    The find result will return a collection of text objects.
    Thanks

  • How to get the elements out of a for loop simultaneously during the loop execution

    Hi,
    I am student. I would like to know how to get the counter values outside the For loop parallely while the loop runs rather that getting the finally value outside the For loop. Looking forward for answers.
    Thanks,
    Athira
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    You could use a notifier (since it is a single value) or a reference (with a property node) to a control that gets the value elsewhere in another VI.
    If it is within the same VI, you could use a property node (right click > create > property node > value) from the control within the same VI located outside the loop.
    If you promiss NOT to abuse the use of Local Variables, you could use that to only write from ONE location within the For Loop to a control outside the loop, similar to the property node mentionned earlier.  (Of course, I will be struct by lightening for mentionning that and scolded by other LabVIEW coders for having a change of heart on the use of Locals....  Shivers are already crawling up my spine).
    You could use a queue, but that might be an overkill, unless:  the count is generated faster than it is being read elsewhere...
    As crossrulz mentionned, can you describe what you will be doing with the count?  Because synchronizing data (fresh / stale / etc) is very important within LabVIEW as it executes based on dataflow rather than a sequential order.
    Hope this helps.
    EDIT:
    You have not fully provided the answer.  We figured that much of your code from your description, but what is reading the value of the count?  Is it in a separate loop?  If not, it may only deal with the first value, which is likely 0.  The proper advice depends on how you process the received data (count).

    }i want to get child elements. but its throwing exception on typecasting. can u tell me why?

    thanks for the info.
    i got 2 solutions
    SOLUTION 1:
    public class Test {
         public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception {
              Document doc = null;
              System.out.println("!!!");
              try {
                   // TODO if path is 'c:' then make it 'c:/'
                   doc=DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance().newDocumentBuilder().parse("test.xml");
              } catch (Exception e) {
                   System.out.println("exception");
              Element root = doc.getDocumentElement();
              NodeList dsList = root.getElementsByTagName("GenericDataSource");
              Element e = (Element)dsList.item(0);
             NodeList nl = e.getChildNodes();
             int count = 0;
             System.out.println(nl.getLength());
             for(int i=0;i<nl.getLength();i++){
                      Node n  = nl.item(i);
                     //System.out.println(n.getClass().getName());
                     //System.out.println((Element)n);
                     if(n instanceof Element){ // this checks for node type
                          count++;
                          System.out.println("Element "+(Element)n);
    SOLUTION 2: :
    XPath xpath  = XPathFactory.newInstance().newXPath();
             InputSource inputSource = new InputSource("test.xml");
             NodeList nodes = (NodeList) xpath.evaluate("//GenericDataSource/*", inputSource, XPathConstants.NODESET);
             System.out.println(nodes.getLength());
             System.out.println((Element)nodes.item(9));

    This one is similar to my question to print and email invoice at same time.  I pass itcpo-tdgetotf = 'X' in order to get otfdata and send email with the attachment of otfdata.
    Now I have data in otfdata, but when I call print_otf function, I clear out itcpo-tdgetotf, and passed
    itcpo-tddest = device_type but I still get error message said 'Handler not valid for open spool request'.
    Can you give me a working example that you have otfdata table and print data from that table.  I also post my question on other thread
    submit report and export to memory
    thanks

  • How to get array values from one class to another

    Supposing i have:
    - a class for the main()
    - another for the superclass
    And i want to create a subclass that does some function on an array object of the the superclass, how can i do so from this new subclass while keeping the original element values?
    Note: The values in the array are randomly generated integers, and it is this which is causing my mind in failing to comprehend a solution.
    Any ideas?

    If the array is declared as protected or public in the superclass you can directly access it using its identifier. If not, maybe the superclass can expose the array via some getter method.
    If this functionality can be generified (or is generic enough) to apply to all subclasses of the superclass the method should be moved to the superclass to avoid having to reproduce it in all the subclasses.

  • How to get Adobe Elements 11 to finish downloading with the "Shared Technologies Error"

    Hey everyone
    I've tried many times to get my Adobe Elements 11 software to download, but every time more than half way through an error pops up saying Shared Technologies error, unable to install. Then it deletes everything and shuts down. It says for me to restart my computer and try again, I've done that many times..... if anyone has any information on how to finally get this software up and running that would be greatly appreciated!!
    Thanks guys!

  • How to get Photoshop Elements 11 Serial Number?

    When i got my Wacom Intous, I got Photoshop Elements 11. But when I registered to Wacom.com, I used an email that no longer exists(It deleted after I was inactive). Wacom support has been so crappy and they haven't looked into changing my email for me, so i can't get into my Wacom account for the Adobe serial number. How can I prove I have bought the software bundle and get the key for the program from Adobe? I haven't heard back from them either when I wrote last week.

    You can use your old email address to login to your account on Adobe as long as you remember your password.  If you have forgotten your password then the reset link can only be sent to that particular email address which you don't have access to.
    So if you know the password then login to your adobe account (using your old email address) at this link:
    www.adobe.com
    At the top right hand corner, there is a link to sign in.  Use it and login in the normal way.  You can browse your data and ALSO change the email address so that it contains the correct one which you have access to.  It could be anything - yahoo, gmail, Hotmail, outlook etc etc
