How to get current SSO user in HTMLDB?

I got SSO working for HTMLDB but I can not get the user name of the current user. I log in to Oracle Portal via SSO and navigate to a HTMLDB page. On the page I call portal.wwctx_api.get_user but I get a portal.wwctx_api.INVALID_COOKIE_EXCEPTION exception.
If dont log into Portal but go directly to the HTMLDB page I get a portal.wwctx_api.NO_SESSION_EXCEPTION.
I have also tried using orasso.wwctx_api.get_user but I always get this exception orasso.wwctx_api.NO_SESSION_EXCEPTION. Anybody got an idea?
If I put the portal.wwctx_api.get_user call I an procedure in the Portal schema it works fine.

Thanks Dietmar. Yes this is cool behavior :-) Now I have the user how do I check in the OID if the user is member of a certain group? I was planning to use portal.wwsec_api.is_user_in_group but when this is not possible what then? dbms_ldap?
I just found another post that suggested using wwv_flow_ldap.is_member. It't works fine:

Hmm, I see.
Well your problem boils down to being in the database and needing to have access to web environment variables. The SSO sets specific variables in the environment but your stored procedure is not privy to them.
Now having said that, note that the mod_plsql Web Toolkit has a utility for accessing cgi variables. For instance,
owa_util.get_cgi_env('Osso-User-Dn')
If your web application cannot capture the SSO info and pass it to the stored proc in a parameter, OWA may be the only way.
Check out the Single Sign-On Developers Guide, specifically the part about developing statically protected PLSQL applications.

You could create a procedure which stores this information at logon and updates this information at log off.
On the 'Connection Scripts' tab of a Connection Pool you can define two sorts of scripts; 'Execute on connect' and 'Execute on disconnect'. This way you can store the user_name and the connect and disconnect in a table.

Hi Dinesh,
You must also make sure you have initialised the app.
If you run this from sqlplus then it will return -1.
If however you run this from within a concurrent program then the user id will be returned.
Try using this from sqlplus fnd_global.apps_initialize
Eg.
begin

fnd_global.apps_initialize(user_id => 3551,
resp_id => 1,
resp_appl_id => 1);

Only way I can think of is to use the rowset controller from the InProc RAS SDK. Here is a snippet of a sample code on how to:

So please take some time and describe the problem as if you would ask your mother for help. Tell us how the data model is build and how the VO are related. Is there any input from an user involved? Which information from the other view do you need? How do you get to the doDML method? Is there a button in the ui involved?

but I need to have IUser from com.sapportals.portal.security.usermanagement package.

Get the IUser uisng the API com.sap.security.api.IUser and store it in a variable, say <i>sapUser</i>.

You want to know whether an instance is assigned or not and if assigned then you want to fetch the assigned participant id.
If this is your requirement then please find the code below and make the necessary changes into it.
Write the following code in screen flow automatic activity but before that you need to pass the instanceid as argument to the screen flow.
In the process as well as screen flow layer make an instance variable instanceid as Int.
Then make an argument variable instanceidArg as Int in both the screenflow and process layer and map accordingly so that it will take the instanceid from process layer to the screen flow layer.
Assign instanceid = id.number; in process layer automatic activity but before the global interactive activity where you have maped the screen flow.
Write the following code in screen flow automatic activity.

You cannot get the password. Password are stored in an encrypted format. Almost never decrypted (as a security meassure). Authentication is performed by encrypting the supplied password and matching that against the stored encrypted password.
Think about it.. just how dangerous it will be to have a function that can dump NT users and their passwords for you. How can you ever expect to "simply decrypt a password"?
As for getting the user name. See the Win32 kernel API call GetCurrentUser(). Also note that there is a big difference as to the owner/user of a server process/thread versus the end-user of client application (possibly running on another PC) that is making the call to the server.
Of course, none of this is related to SQL or PL/SQL - which is what I believe the subject matter of this forum is... Kindly suggest that in future you pay attention to posting the correct subject material to the correct forum.
