How to get the universe metadata information (class , tables...) through JSP coding ?

Hi,
I am new to BO. I am developing tool which will extract the metadat information of report and universe using JSP (java ) in BO XI R2 . My problem is how to get universe metadata ? i listed the universe name by quering the CI_APPOBJECTS table. i couldn't get other information (Class and objects in the universe ).. I need the advice or idea or code to complete work... Please help to resolve my problem..

There's three ways to get the Universe Class/Object info:
1. Use the Universe Designer SDK. This is COM-based, so you'd write VBScript, VBA or VB6 code.
2. Use the ReportEngine Java (REBean) API. Programmatically create a Web Intelligence document, specify the Universe as DataProvider, then get the DataSource, which holds the Classes/Objects hierarchy.
3. Use the QueryService Service in the BusinessObjects Web Service (via Java or .NET Consumer API) to do something similar to 2.

Hi Devendra,
MDM can track changes on tables and fields. The level of change tracking, and which tables/fields to track, are configurable in the MDM Console. MDM opens a new database on the same database engine as the MDM repository and writes all change records to this database.

Two steps to achieve this:-
Step 1: Add the following code in your view Controller:-
IWDClientUser user = WDClientUser.getCurrentUser();
IUser objUser = user.getSAPUser();
wdContext.currentContextElement().setXXXX(objUser.getUniqueName());
wdContext.currentContextElement().setYYYY(objUser.getFirstName());
wdContext.currentContextElement().setZZZZ(objUser.getLastName());
where XXXX, YYYY , ZZZZ are the context names.
getUniqueName : Gives Login id of Portal user.
getFirstName : Gives First Name of the Portal user.
getLastname : Gives Last Name of the Portal user.
Step 2 : Use "Organize imports" and make sure that you have the following two libraries added in the build path of your project. You can do these by right clicking on your project name ==> Properties ==> Java Build Path ==> Libraries ==> Add External jars.
The external jars are :
com.sap.security.api.jar
com.sap.security.api.perm.jar
Finally rebuild your project and deploy.

I'm not sure you can directly access a session bean from JSP.
Although I haven't tried this with sessionBean1, you might try using JSP's useBean tag.
 <jsp:useBean id=<localName> type=<classPath> scope=<scope> />localName is the name you want to use to refer to the bean. classPath is the fully qualified class path. scope is either page, request, session, or application.
I use this approach for accessing Java Beans. But before you can use the bean you have to add it as a session attribute. This makes it accessible to the page.

 ExternalContext externalContext = facesContext.getExternalContext();
 HttpSession session = (HttpSession)externalContext.getSession(false);

How to get the data from a cluster table to BW

Dear All,
I want to extract the data from R/3 to BW by using 2 tables and one Cluster B2.
Actually my report contains some fields from PA2001, PA2002 and one cluster table B2 (Table ZES). Can I create View by using these 3 tables? If it is not possible how can I get the data from the cluster? Can I create generic datasource by using cluster tables directly?
In SE11 Transaction the Cluster (table ZES) is showing invalid table.
I referred some Forums, but no use.
Can any body tell me procedure to get the data from a cluster (table ZES) ?

I am also planning to do FM to get the data. But it is saying that the Cluster table ZES does not exist (ZES is the the standard table, in SE11 also).
How can I use the Fields from the that table.?

How to get the selected rows in a table

Hi,
How to get the ids of all the selected rows. On Page load a query is executed that shows the data in a table with a checkbox in the first column to select the rows and delete. Now if a user select multiple rows how do I get the ids of selected rows in the backend code.

How to get the URL parameter value when navigating from JSP Page to portal

Hi All,
I have web Dynpro application with one button, while clicking that button It will navigate to JSP page as external window. In the JSP page I have a input field and Button.
In the JSP page input field I will enter some values and press submit button, it will navigate to Portal page by passing some URL parameter with values.
Once user entering to portal by default WD page displayed, the same WD page I try to get the URL Parameter which I have passed from JSP page, but I am not able to get the URL parameter value.
If same application running in without portal, I can able to get the URL parameter values. I am getting the URL parameter by interface view default inbound plug parameter.
How do we resolve this problem?

I'm using 10 buttons all are having common action('click'). when i click a button the 'text' value of the button should pass to a function.So the action is same but the passed value will be the 'text' value of the corresponding button. The called function is,

How can i get the 'text' property value of the corresponding button. Click action should be common to all buttons.

I am using date navigator of type calender month view, now i want to get the information of the particular date in the calender and bind that data to the tooltip.
I am able to get the information of the dates in the calender and i am setting it to the one context attribute. Now where should i bind the context attribute in my application.

once user moves cursor on to the any of the date in the calender i have to display the pointed date information.
I have achieved it by created context attribute and i have binded it to the datemarkingelement tooltip.
