How to insert APPEND hint.

Is there a way to do /*+ APPEND */ hint in the insert statement in the OWB mapping? How do I do it?

There are hints for both extraction and loading in the map's configuration for each table operator. Configure the mapping, expand the tree under Table Operators, the table name and you should see Extraction hint and Loading hint.

Index BSAD1 has all three fields MANDT, BUKRS, AUGDT which are there in the where clause. But as per the execution plan index BSAD0 is being used which is the primary one.

Append hint + ADO + Oracle OleDB Provider

Hi everybody!
This is my first post here in this great forum! ;-)
I have a problem using Append hint with Oracle OleDB Provider and I've been searching internet for an answer without any luck.
I'm trying to use Append hint with ADO + Oracle OleDB Provider (OraOLEDB.Oracle.1), like in the SQL below:
INSERT /*+APPEND*/
INTO my_table(field1, field2, field3)
SELECT 0 field1, v.field2, v.field3)
FROM my_second_table v
The problem: Oracle is still creting log for this INSERT (It is working like there was no Append hint).
If I use the same SQL statement with Microsoft Ole DB Provider for Oracle, the Append hint works as expected (log is not created), but doesn't work at all with Oracle DB Provider.
Trace shows me that the SQL sentence is ok (the append hint is there!).
I've tried Oracle servers 9.2 and/or 10g, and the problem is the same.
Question: Does Append hint work with Oracle OleDB Provider? If yes, why it is not working? Something related with connection properties?
Any help will be much appreciated!

I'm not sure what you mean by "there is log creation". In general you need to distinguish between UNDO and REDO generation. A direct-path insert (APPEND hint) doesn't generate undo but still can generate redo, depending on the ARCHIVELOG / FORCE LOGGING mode of the tablespace resp. database and the LOGGING/NOLOGGING attribute of the table.
Note that in case indexes exist on the table there will always be undo and therefore redo generation for the index maintenance as part of the direct-path insert.
You should check V$SESSION (SQL_ID in 10g, SQL_ADDRESS + SQL_HASH_VALUE in pre-10g) and V$SQL in the database to double check if the SQL passed by the Oracle OLEDB Provider actually contains the APPEND hint in case the INSERT actually generates UNDO (which is the indicator that shows you if the direct-path insert is used or not). Whether it generates REDO is - as already mentioned - depending on other factors.
So the question is how have you determined if the direct-path insert mode has been used or not?
The simplest approach to test if direct-path insert mode is used or not is to issue a query on the object inserted into after the insert before committing the transaction. If it fails with "ORA-12838: cannot read/modify an object after modifying it in parallel" then you successfully inserted using direct-path insert.
Note that there a number of restrictions that prevent the direct-path insert from happening, in those cases the APPEND hint will be silently ignored, e.g. enabled triggers, foreign keys on the table. A quite comprehensive list of restrictions is listed in the manuals here:

Append hints in insert query

Hi,
I want to know the difference between insert /*+ APPEND NOLOGGING PARALLEL */ into tablename and insert /*+ APPEND */ into tablename. Also, which hint will make the performance faster and in which conditions.
Also, anu URL given as reference for the same will be highly appreciated.

It's wrong, there is no NOLOGGING hint. I notice it doesn't say what it's supposed to do.

Insert with APPEND hint

I have insert statment with APPEND hint. Here statment is as follows.
INSERT /*+ APPEND */ INTO TEST SELECT * FROM EMP;
The TEST table is in NOLOGGING mode.
The table has FK constraint, trigger, index too. Obvisiouly, it would not write the data in redo log. Still does it insert the data above HWM.

When you use APPEND hint with INSERT, oracle never bother about the free blocks which are below HWM. It always writies in new blocks, i.e. above HWM.

Any thoughts on why we get redo generated during a Insert operation with /*+ APPEND */ hint when having the DB in archive log mode. And same statement generating very very less redo when the DB is in no archive log mode. Is the redo generation mandatory in ARCHIVE LOG MODE, if so how can we achieve a direct path insert in DB in archivelog mode.

How to insert sales text (MM02) into a single record of a Ztable.

Hi,
I'm extracting data from different data base tables and populating a Ztable which has Matnr as primary key and sales text as a field.
I have already used READ_TEXT to display the text and it is displayed in multiple records which in turn leads to duplication of Material numbers.
Now I want to avoid duplication of records (Matnr) as this being a primary record, and display the sales text of a particular material number into one single record.
Can anyone tell me how to insert sales text (MM02) transaction into one single record.

Does insert /*+ Append */ into hint cause Oracle 10G to use direct-path INSERT?
and if insert /*+ Append */ into hint does cause Oracle to use direct-path INSERT, does insert /*+ Append */ is subject to the same restrictions as direct-path such as "The target table cannot have any triggers or referential integrity constraints defined on it."

Tou need to do a couple of things
1. On the Essbase server, set up an odbc system connection to your MySQL database
2. In the load rule , go to the file menu and select open SQL data source and in the data source put in your SQL statement . A couple of hints. Where it says Select, don't put in the word select and where it say from don't put in from. The system adds them for you. The easiest way ti enter a SQL statement is to do it all in the select area So if your SQL would normanlly say select * from mytable just enter the code as * from mytable in the select area
The click ol/retrieve and enter in your connection info. Itshould bring data back into the load rule. Save the load rule and use it

How to insert new service condition in PO using BAPI_PO_CHANGE?

I'm trying to insert a new condition under a service line in a PO. This can be seen in ME23N under the services tab of the PO item. Then click on conditions (the button with the dollar and yen symbol).
I tried using the internal table POCOND and POCONDX. But these tables update the conditions of the PO item itself and not the service conditions. In ME23N this is the conditions tab of the PO item.

Found a SAP note 499626 quoted below. So it seems that it's not possible to use BAPI_PO_CHANGE.
"Can I create or change conditions on the service level with BAPI_PO_CREATE1 or BAPI_PO_CHANGE?
Answer:
Such a function is currently not available."
Anybody know any FM to do this?

Hai,
just try this,
Instead of using omatrix.Addrow(1,-1) use like
omatrix.AddRow( RowCount , Position)
RowCount
The number of rows to add (default is 1)
Position
The position of the new rows (0-based; default is -1, meaning append row to the end)
After adding rows in matrix For, sno.
for i=1 to omatrix.visualrowcount
otext=omatrix.getcellspecific("columnid",i) '--where columnid is the unique id of the sno column
otext.value=i
next i

How to insert record inside the internal table in below code

Hi all,
My requirement is to find the sub-total and need to insert in between the internal table.
You can see the output ....where I want the sub-total F2 when 1 & 2 combindely , 3 , 4& 5 combindely .Please check it and let me know is it possible
when i am using modification it is not creating extra row inside the table instead it is modifying one row and putting the total there.
For ex: the origianl output is
F1   F2       F3
A      1          1
B      1          1
F      2          1
D      3          1
E      4          1
C      5          1
We want to display all the total of f2 of 1-2 , 3 , 4-5
so expcected output is
F1   F2       F3
A      1          1
B      1          1
F      2          1
     *              3 ->This is the sub-total of 1& 2 of f2
D      3          1
        *           1 ->this is the sub-total of 3
E      4          1
C      5          1
      *             2 -> this is the sub-total of 4 & 5
= space
But coming output is
A 1          1
B 1          1
*             3 -> it is modifying the F row and inserting the total .Total is comong correct but is shoule insert instead of modifying the record!!

Please help how to insert the row total at the end of the chage of field
