HOW TO INSERT DATA MANUALLY INTO A BW TABLE

Dear experts,
I'm working in BW 3.5 version.
Since I need to test some tables which are going to be load manually, please could anyone explain me which are the steps to insert data manually into a BW table.

Hi Jorge,
You can maintain the TMG(Table maintenance generator) and then enter the data manually. TMG creation Tcode is se55. and to view and maintain TMG it is sm30 .
Or if you have the data in excel. You can write a simple excel uploading ABAP program which will load your excel data to the table .

How to insert date value into oracle?

hi,
iam reading date from xml using vb.net and inserting it into oracle table.
the date value in xml file is in the format of "01012003".
i want to insert into oracle table.but iam getting an error "ORA-1843: not a valid month".
how to solve this problem.

That's not a date. It's just a string. Convert it to a date using,
DateTime d = DateTime.ParseExact("01022003", "MMddyyyy", null);
or
Dim d As DateTime = DateTime.ParseExact("01022003", "MMddyyyy", Nothing)
and then bind it to a parameter. ODP.NET will take it from there.
You should never be hard-coding the date literal into your SQL query.

How to insert data from screen to database Table..??

This is regarding screen painter area..
I have created a Z-table.
Also created a screen where i am having input box.
After entering text in the input box, i will click "SAVE" push button.
When i click "SAVE" push button, the Text entered in the screen input box should be saved in that z-table.
How to do it...??

You can try follwong logic.
tables : ztable.
data wa_ztable like line of ztable.
Case sy-ucomm.
when 'SAVE'.
clear wa_ztable.
wa_ztable-field1 = screenfield1.
wa_ztable-field2 = screenfield2.
wa_ztable-field3 = screenfield3.
modify ztable from wa_ztable.
endcase.
If it is simple database insertion,
you can always use Table Maintainance provided by SAP.
So that the code will be automatically generated and you dont have to worry.

How to insert an ID into the related tables???

I have 3 tables in my database who are related.
Table employees, functions and specializations
The employees table has an empID, functions has an funID and the related empID and specializations has an speID and to the related empID.
When I insert a new employee, i want that the empID from employees is automatically inserted into the tables functions and specializations.
How can I do that with SQL???????

At least you can try StringTokenizer to parse your text files. Or download a text JDBC driver to parse your files, for instance, HXTT Text(www.hxtt.net) or StelsCSV(www.csv-jdbc.com).

How to insert data from site into DB?

Hi
Does anyone know how to insert data into a database from a
website?
I have created a Registration form for users to register to
my web site. With this I would like the data they have entered to
be stored in a MySQL database. I have created the a form and used
the record insertion form wizard.
When they have registered, I need to be able to check their
username every time they log in.
If anyone could help, it would be greatly appreciated,

Hi ,
1.)You must have to create a EO based on custom table and then VO based on this EO eventually to save the values in DB
2.) the row.setNewRowState(Row.STATUS_INITIALIZED); is used to set the the status of row as inialized ,this is must required.
3.) When u will create the VO based on EO the viewattributes will be created in VO which will be assigned to the fields to take care the db handling .
You must go thtough the lab excercise shipped with you Jdeveloper ,there is a example of Create Employee page ,that will solve your number of doubts.

How do you insert data into the client, my model entity beans have a one-to-many relationship.

The ejbCreate(Integer parentID,String name)

CHILD-NAME
PARENT-ID(foreign key of PARENTID).

In a jsp page i collect the parent details and 3 corresponding chld details in a text box.
Can you please tell me how do i proceed from here...
ie. how to i insert data into the entity beans..
Do i pass the child as a collection, and within parents ejbCreate() method do i lookup for the childs home interface and insert one -by -one from the collection.
1. Considering the above example, can some one pls tell how the ejbCreate() mehod signatures, for the parent and child entity beans should be.
2. Pls also show some sample client code as to how to make an insertion.
3. In case you are passing a collection of child data, then in what format does one have to insert into a collection and also how does the container know how to insert the values in the child table , bcoz we are passing as a collection.
4.In case collections cannot be inserted do we need to iterate into the collection in parent's ejbCreate() method, and manually insert into the database of the childtable, thereby creating child entity beans.

Here you don't need IDs, but it happens only using Locals, not Remotes, if I'm not wrong. Container does it itself.
1. Of course, if you have parent.getChildren() and parent.setChildren() then you don't need any loops, but it should be done anyway in postCreate, because in ejbCreate there no parent exists yet.
Once more 3: example - I'm using JBoss 3.2.5 as EJB container. It has tomcat inside and EJB and JSP+Struts use the same jvm. It means for me that I don't need to use remote interfaces, just locals. And in this case I can implement ejb-relations. So, a have the abstract method parent.getChildren() which returns Collection of ChildLocal - s and method parent.setChildren(Collection childrenLocals) which creates/modifies children by itself.
I have not used remotes for a long time, but as I remember it was not possible to implement ejb-relations using remotes.

This is my Input data.
11/25/2007.
By using below query, it is inserted into database.
sql>Insert into tblname values(to_date('11/25/2007','MM/DD/YYYY'));
But using stored procedure, the same query is not running.
It shows error like
ORA-01843: not a valid month ORA-06512: at line 1
Procedure:
create or replace procedure Date_Test(datejoin in DATE) is
begin
insert into datetest values(to_date(datejoin,'MM/DD/YYYY'));
end Date_Test;
I had used 'nls_date_language = american' also.
Prcodeure is created but not worked in jsp. The same error is thrown.
Pls provide a solution

Tou need to do a couple of things
1. On the Essbase server, set up an odbc system connection to your MySQL database
2. In the load rule , go to the file menu and select open SQL data source and in the data source put in your SQL statement . A couple of hints. Where it says Select, don't put in the word select and where it say from don't put in from. The system adds them for you. The easiest way ti enter a SQL statement is to do it all in the select area So if your SQL would normanlly say select * from mytable just enter the code as * from mytable in the select area
The click ol/retrieve and enter in your connection info. Itshould bring data back into the load rule. Save the load rule and use it

But i got syntax error the result type of the function method cannot not be converted in to the type of lr_table_line.
And i set cardinality and selection as 0.n.
Pls, let me know for the soulutions

Chadru, another option is for you to bind the table UI field to an internal table and to populate the internal table. Then, automatically, your Table UI field will be populated with the data from the internal table. Here is the code that does that and works for me. Good luck!
