Dim b As Integer
Dim c As Integer
Dim d As Integer
Dim names As String = "a,b,c,d"
Dim values As String = String.Format("'{0}','{0}','{0}','{0}'", a.ToString(), b.ToString(), c.ToString(), d.ToString())
Dim SQL As String = String.Format( _
"INSERT INTO staff" & _
" ({0}) values ({1})", names, values)

  • How to insert a query into a NEW workbook ?

    Hi Friends,
    Could some one tell me how to insert a query into a new workbook? i am trying to run query in NW2004S BEx Query Designer, which always open the query on web when executed. i want to run the query in NW2004S BEx Query Designer and want it to open the result in Excell.
    If i am not wrong then to do the same, i need to embed the query into workbook. Correct me if i am wrong. If i am right then plzz tell me the steps to insert the query into workbook.
    Ur help will be rewarded in terms of points.
    Thanks,

    Hello,
    If you open the BEx Query Designer from the desktop, you cannot execute the query directly to the BEx Analyzer for an Excel view. You can only execute it directly to the Web. This is true for the SAP BW 3.x version as well as the SAP NetWeaver 2004s version.
    If you open the BEx Query Designer from within BEx Analyzer, once you select (or create) your query, you will have a green check mark icon that will then allow you to deploy the query directly to the BEx Analyzer for the Excel view.
    However, this would only make sense if you are creating or modifying the query. If not, you would simply open BEx Analyzer and use the Open Query option in this tool to see your query in an Excel format, as has been previously suggested by the other respondents to this posting.

  • HELP! How to insert long delimited text into a table

    Friends,
    I have an Oracle table with a long field containing comma delimited text.
    Table Def:
    QUOTE_LINES
    (quote_no VARCHAR2(20),
    quote_data LONG)
    Example data from quote_data field:
    A='750 Gallon',B='1250',C='300HP',D='Transmission',E=TRUE,F='Top Mount',G='Full Height',H='Full Height'
    Note: There are no <CR> in the data.
    I want to create a trigger on the table that loads the data into a separate table like this:
    quote_no VARCHAR2(20),
    line_type VARCHAR2(50),
    line_value VARCHAR2(30)
    Any suggestions?
    Larry

    Hello
    Really, if at all possible you should look at converting the long column to a clob. This will get rid of lots of limitations and you will be able to treat the column just like a varchar2.
    Anyway, if you cannot change from a long for the mean time, you could use the following, as long as the length of the text in your long column doesn't exceed 32k (which by all accounts is pretty large!):
    SQL> create table dt_test_long (id number, big_text long);
    Table created.
    SQL> create or replace procedure dt_test_proc(an_id in dt_test_long.id%type)
      2  IS
      3
      4     lv_LongVal      VARCHAR2(32767);
      5
      6  BEGIN
      7
      8     SELECT
      9             big_text
    10     INTO
    11             lv_LongVal
    12     FROM
    13             dt_test_long
    14     WHERE
    15             id = an_id;
    16
    17     dbms_output.put_line(lv_LongVal);
    18
    19     --do whatever you want with the value here
    20
    21  END;
    22  /
    Procedure created.
    SQL> create or replace trigger dt_test_long_trg before insert on dt_test_long
      2  for each row
      3
      4  begin
      5
      6     dt_test_proc(:NEW.id);
      7  end;
      8  /
    Trigger created.
    SQL> set serveroutput on
    SQL> insert into dt_test_long values(1, 'Some text, some more text etc....');
    Some text, some more text etc....THT

  • How to insert Query View into a WorkBook

    Hi Experts,
                   Is it possible to  insert a Query View into a workbook template . I know about how to insert Query into a workbook template but I am not aware of how to insert a Query view.Please help me in this regards.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Bala B...

    In ur analyzer u will get the design toolbar. Like u did for inserting query into workbook , same procedure u need to follow here-only difference being instead of query u select ur query view,while creating data provider.
    Steps:
    Goto design mode, b selecting 'design mode icon' in analyzer toolbar.
    Double click on 'analysis grid' icon from ur analyzer toolbar.
    In that create DP(data provider).
    In that give a name for DP and select your query view in that screen.
    Hope it helps.

  • Inserting a Query into Portal

    Hi All,
    For the First time i got a chance to work on portal.
    Now i need to insert a query into portal..Before that i want to know the whole process.
    I have searched in SDN for this creteria...but found some different answers and i got bit confussed.
    So requesting all to let me know the whole procedure that means
    1.what are the settings to be done to execute the report through portal(Required Installations....etc)
    2.How to insert a query into portal....
    if any document is there which gives fundamental idea about portal and inserting query into portal , Please share with me.
    regards
    Saha

    Hi Saha,
    If you are executing queries on portal from role menu then in this case you need to change the URL of report in menu role. This can be done using transaction PFCG. Here you need to maintain the URL format which will point to the Java stack in portal.
    if you are executing the reports on portal by clicking on the Infoarea where you can select queries by infoprovider, you need not to do any setting.
    To execute report on portal you will need to have Business Intelligence role on portal.

    thanxAnd that SQL statement is another reason to use PreparedStatement. I assume bname and sname are input from some form? Well, if that's the case, simply inserting them into SQL by simple String concatenation is just begging for all sorts of problems. What if there is an apostrophe in the entry? Broken Statement. Worse, it's a wide open invitation to an SQL Injection attack.

  • How to insert some strings in a query with the clausule 'in' in a procedure

    Hello fellows.
    Do you know how to insert some strings in a query with the clausule 'in' in a procedure (with a variable)?.
    I tell us my problem with an example:
    I want to use this select but introducing a variable instead the 'value1', 'value2':
    select * from table1 where field1 in ('value1', 'value2');
    if I declare the variable var1 as:
    TC_VAR1 CONSTANT VARCHAR2(50) := '''value1'',''value2'''
    and I use it as:
    select * from table1 where field1 in (TC_VAR1);
    It doesn't work because Oracle takes TC_VAR1 as an all string. I think Oracle takes it as this:
    select * from table1 where field1 in ('value1, value2');
    If I use the data type TABLE, I don't know how to use well:
    TYPE varchar2_table IS TABLE OF VARCHAR2(10);
    tb_var varchar2_table;
    select * from table1 where field1 in (tb_var);->It returns an error and there ins't an method that it returns all values.
    A curious case is that if I have a sql script (for example script1.sh) with this query:
    select * fromt able1 where field1 in (&1)
    and I invoke this script as
    script1.sh "'''value1'',''value2'''". It works
    Can anybody helps me?.
    Thanks.

    Thanks to all. Really.
    First, sorry for my English. It's horrible. Thank to all for understand it (my English).
    I've resolved my problem with these links:
    ORA-22905: cannot access rows from a non-nested table item
    and
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/896356/oracle-error-ora-22905-cannot-access-rows-from-a-non-nested-table-item
    At last, I have used someting like this:
    DECLARE
    number_table_tmp NUM_ARRAY:=NUM_ARRAY(410673, 414303, 414454, 413977, 414042, 414115, 413972, 414104, 414062);
    BEGIN
    FOR c1 IN (SELECT par_id, 1 acc_vdo_id FROM SIG_VIS_CAM
    WHERE par_id IN (SELECT * FROM TABLE(number_table_tmp))
    UNION ALL
    SELECT par_id, 2 acc_vdo_id FROM SIG_ACCAO a
    WHERE par_id IN (SELECT * FROM TABLE(number_table_tmp))) LOOP
    NULL;
    END LOOP;
    END;
    but first I had to create the type NUM_ARRAY like this:
    CREATE TYPE subjectid_tab AS TABLE OF NUMBER INDEX BY binary_integer;
    THANK YOU, GUYS. YOU ARE THE BESTS. ;-)

    P.S. You may need to tweak the outer joins - I'm not quite sure what your business rule is.

    1. SELECT INTO
    Below method will create table when data is inserted from one table to another table. Its useful when you need exactly same datatype as source table.
    Use AdventureWorks2008R2;
    Go
    ---Insert data using SELECT INTO
    SELECT AddressLine1, City
    INTO BothellAddresses
    FROM Person.Address
    where City = 'Bothell';
    GO
    ---VERIFY DATA
    Select AddressLine1, City
    FROM BothellAddresses
    ---DROP TABLE
    DROP TABLE BothellAddresses
    GO
    2. INSERT INTO SELECT
    Below method will need table to be created prior to inserting data. Its really useful when table is already created and you want insert data from
    another table.
    Use AdventureWorks2008R2;
    Go
    ---Create Table
    CREATE TABLE BothellAddresses (AddressLine1 NVARCHAR(60), City NVARCHAR(30))
    ---Insert into above table using SELECT
    INSERT INTO BothellAddresses(AddressLine1, City)
    SELECT AddressLine1, City
    FROM Person.Address
    where City = 'Bothell';
    ---VERIFY DATA
    Select AddressLine1, City
    FROM BothellAddresses
    ---DROP TABLE
    DROP TABLE BothellAddresses
    GO

  • How to Insert check box value into database column

    Hi All,
    I had checkbox group in a region which is using an LOV......and having 18 items in that lov.
    i.e. Total 18 checkboxes in Total. User has to select only 2 checkboxes from that 18.
    I created two columns for storing two values of checkboxes. How to insert two selectives in two columns.........Moreover, How to give the query i.e. how to know which values are selected.
    Please Help me in achieving this. apart from the two columns (Focus1,Focus2) .......One more column(l_spo_val) is there which is a foreign key.
    My Insert Statement is like this:
    INSERT INTO SPO_RESEARCH_FOCUS VALUES(l_spo_val
    ,:P4_RESEARCH_LIST_1
                        ,:P4_RESEARCH_LIST_2);
    Please narrate the code if possible.
    Thanks,
    Sekhar.

    Hi Denes,
    I saw the example in your workspace and it is the same what exactly i want and instead of storing in one column i want to store the two selected values into two different columns. Also i need to restrict the selection of checkboxes upto 2 only. So If the user tries to select the third check box it doesnt have to accept.
    Even I am ready to change my table as according to your example i.e. creating only one column. Store the values of selection into that column.
    I was unable to see how u wrote the logic (Code) for your example in your workspace. It helps alot if you provide me the code for that example(Multi Checkbox One Column).
    I was facinated after watching your examples in your workspace and am very much interested to know more about Apex.
    Please help me insolving this as it is long pending issue for my requirement.
    Thanks a lot again,
    Sekhar.

    Tuning is NOT about reducing the cost of i/o.
    i/o is only one of many contributors to cost and only one of many contributors to waits.
    Any time you would like to explore this further run this code:
    SELECT 1 FROM dual
    WHERE regexp_like(' ','^*[ ]*a');but not on a production box because you are going to experience an extreme tuning event with zero i/o.
    And when I say "extreme" I mean "EXTREME!"
    You've been warned.I think you just need a faster server.

    I am not sure that this is a good example - the query either executes very fast, or never has a chance to start executing. But, it might still make your point physical I/O is not always the problem when performance problems are experienced.

  • How to Insert two queries in a single workbook in BI 7 ?

    Hi,
               I am trying to insert two queries in a single workbook. The queries are of Accounts Receivable.I have inserted one query in a workbook , but am not able to proceed to inserting the second query. In BEx analyzer, in design mode , using analysis grid , i tried inserting the second query but when saving and running, i am getting message " Variables are present, change their values " . should i maintain same variables for two queries ? i am stuck up. please explain me as how can this be done.
    Roja.

    Hi,
    If you get the message "Variables are present, change their values" ,it means that the query which you inserted having variables.
    You just click the "Change Variables" icon in the Analysis Toolbox,which will invoke the variable screen.
    Set the values in the variable screen and click OK.
    Now you will be able to see the data in the grids based on the values selected in the variable screen.
    Both queries data will be displayed in the workbook.
    Let me know in case of any clarifications!
    Rgds,
    Murali
