How to install 2013 SP 1 on Excel only install

We have a few installs of Excel around the network for power users.  It's a VLSC standalone Excel copy not the whole version of Office.  Several of our users have issues with intermittent crashes that we've never been able to fix following any
MS documents including a full format and reinstall.  I noticed that MS released a service pack for MS Office 2013 but when I try to install it on a PC with Excel only it tells me "There are no products affected by this package installed on your system".
How do I install SP 1 for Excel 2013 standalone VLSC?

Hi,
Which Excel 2013 standalone version are you using? Click to Run(C2R) or MSI?
If we are using C2R version, it'll install the latest
update automatically.
If we are using MSI version, I recommend you connect the VLSC to get more help.

  • Can anyone tell me in detail how to install SharePoint 2013?

I know it requires Windows Server Operating System, so  installed it on my VMWare (can it be installed on Win8 by any any any chance, highly unlikely)
When I installed SharePoint Foundation 2013, it extracted files and then opened cmd prompt which opened 'splash.hta' in visual studio. I can't get past it!
    What are the pre-requisites???
Please tell me in detail how to install Sharepoint on a laptop, if it is possible.
I am learning it these days, and want to try on it on my laptop.

Inder : Yes you can install it on VMware but VM's operating system should be windows server 2008 r2 or
Windows server 2012.  Installing SharePoint 2013 preview on Windows 8 is unsupported, although here:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30345 it's listed. You need to install on either Server 2008 R2 SP1 or Server 2012 RC
    When
I installed SharePoint Foundation 2013, it extracted files and then opened cmd prompt which opened 'splash.hta' in visual studio. I can't get past it!
Inder: can't say why is happening may be you dont have windows server.
    What are the pre-requisites???
Inder: Its better if you are connected to internet from the VM to download and install pre-requisites.
It is a pain to manualy install it

  • How to install office 2013 professional plus

    Dear;
I wonder how to install office 2013 professional plus in IMAC.
I use bootcamp to install windows 8 and then install office 2013 professional plus?

It does not run on Macs, only on Windows. So, yes, you would need to install Windows on your computer or:
Get Office 2011 - Mactopia - or you can try the freeware suite, Libre Office, that is functionally similar to Office 2007 for Windows except it works on Lion/Mountain Lion.
These two suites are similar to Libre Office:
    NeoOffice - $30.00

  • How to install the Remote Desktop Services role on a Windows 2012 R2 Server

    Hello,
I am a bit confused on how to install the RDP role on a 2012 R2 server. I have a two server domain and would like to make the second member server an RDP server to host applications (Word, Excel, a medical software, etc.) where users from their windows
7 desktop will use the Remote Desktop Connection to connect to the server, create a session and do their work. When installing the role, I am prompted with two options:
1- Role-based or feature based installation
    2- Remote Desktop services installation
I see the RDP install option in both cases.
1- Which one do I use?
2- What role services do I install? (Connection broker, Gateway, Licensing, Session Host, Virtualization host and Web access). I think I need the first four only.
3- When installing software after RDP, I use the Change user /install and Change user /execute commands. What happens to the software that is already installed? Can remote
    users use those?
Any help will be very much appreciated.
    Thank You,
    Victor.

    TP,
Thank you for your response. I added the RD Licensing thru the Role-based option.
Also opened the local group policy thru gpedit.msc and added the server name and the licensing mode type to Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Remote Desktop Services -> Remote Desktop Session
    Host -> Licensing
Use the specified RD license servers = NameOfMyServer
Set the Remote Desktop licensing mode = TypeOfMyLicense (Per User in my case)
    Thank you again,
    Victor

  • How to install windows 8.1 oem (without installation CD) with Parallels on Mac?

Have bought a Parallels Desktop 9 bundle that came with Windows 8.1 OEM (with just the product key and no CD). Have successfully installed Parallels on my mid-2013 Macbook Air (without any previous Windows), but just don't know how to install the Windows. The Windows envelop just contains licensing details, no procedures included. Have tried to download the "Windows ADK" thing from the Microsoft OEM page, just wouldn't install at all. Pls help!!! Many thanks!!

Hi LonerT.  I'm sure that's correct!
Again, for anyone trying to install Windows8.1 (on parallels-Mac), just as you say "Microsoft also has an online store, which [could] be leveraged to accept Product Keys and allow media downloads on any OS......"
Indeed, it's a real trap that if you go to the MSFT online store, it says "pay and download!"  But in fact - believe it - the only thing you can download is a small Windows program (!!!) which can only run ON WINDOWS (!!!!!), which is then a "download manager".  Which is kind of bizarre if you think the whole idea is, that it is someone BUYING WINDOWS because they DON'T HAVE IT!
If you read the discussion lists even Windows dudes get furious at it - it's like "just have a f'ing link to the file, the iso file".  What the heck is the point of downloading a "Download Manager" ??? Anyways.
    {If, for some reason, you DO HAVE ON HAND the actual DVD (64bit) for Windows8.1, then yes you CAN JUST BUY A PRODUCT KEY online at MSFT's store, which is great.  But then, very few people actually buy Windows8.1 on dvd -- when you buy a "windows laptop" it has a whacky OEM version, etc.}
It's great fun to have Windows8.1 running in a window on your Mac! (See image below.)
But again, after vast investigation we found YOU DO NEED TO GET A PHYSICAL DVD.  Fortunately they sell Windows everywhere, you can grab a copy at the local supermarket!
(You can run Windows8.1 in a mac window, or, full screen as you prefer.  We have had no problems with macs with any number of extra displays, it seems to figure it out.)
You want the box that looks like this .. "8.1 version complete"
Use only the 64bit disk, throw away the 32bit disk. The box includes a product key on a piece of plastic.  Again if by coincidence you have a friend with one of these, just use their DVD, and, you can buy a product key at MSFT's online shop. Once again installation is trivial with Parallels10 - but ya gotta get the DVD.

  • Cant figure out how to install vcenter, or even what OS it requires, help!

Unfortunately, the excellent vsphere windows client has now been discontinued (or at least we assume it has because we get error message "you have restricted editing capabilities on a virtual machine of version 9...).  So now we have to figure out how to get the web client.
We don't want to install vcenter, due to the unnecessary complexity and cost, but it looks like we have to.
Unfortunately, I cant find out how to install vcentre - I found a page with the prerequisites, but It didn't mention the most important piece of information - what OS it needs, nor how to actually install it from the iso.
We are using vmware essentials kit on a single host. We dont have any windows server licenses, so if vcenter requires this, vmware is out, unfortunately.
what OS is required for vcenter
    is vcenter free?
Do we need vcenter or vcenter server, or are they the same?
    how do we get it?
    How do we install it?
How do we access the web panel?
Where is the documentation?  We have spent some considerable time looking for it.  The nearest is this page:VMware vSphere Documentation which is for vsphere, not vcenter, and only includes info about the vcenter appliance.  On this page is a documentation link to the right, but vcenter is not included in the list of products - its like it doesn't exist.
Why do vmware make it so hard to use vsphere now?  Why doesn't sphere simply come with vcenter, as it cant work without it now, or at least offer it as an option when installing vsphere.  It must be a show stopper for many people like us who want to evaluate vmware to virtualise a hand full of non HA environments,  but get stuck at this point.

Just to clarify, vSphere is a suite of products that includes vCenter, ESXi (The hypervisor) and a whole range of other products.
There is a free version of the ESXi hypervisor but it is limited in features and you get basic management options, no vCenter server to manage multiple hosts so you can't use HA, vMotion, DRS etc etc
The reason for the lengthy installation documentation is that customers have a wide range of requirements, however most will probably opt for the "simple install" option!
Documentation wise, I prefer the HTML version which you can easily search / browse: vSphere 6.0 Documentation Center
    1) vCenter requires Windows Server, however you can also use the Linux appliance, saving a windows license. This is much improved in recent years however is still missing some functionality such as Update Manager that some customers will use.
    2) No, you need a license for vCenter, it manages your ESXi hosts and manages your virtual environment. See: Compare VMware vSphere Editions and Kits Comparison | United States
    3) vCenter / vCenter server are the same thing
    4) You need to purchase it, or use a free 60 day evaluation
    5) As per the documentation above. The simple install is your best option to get it instaled in 30 minutes, or try the appliance version (Import it onto a host, boot and follow the instructions, database is included, very easy to deploy and no additional licensing costs)
    6) Via https://vCenter-Hostname:9443
    7) As above
