How to invoke a stored procedure from SubmitEditForm.jsp

Instead of directly inserting or updating
the data I would like to invoked
the stored procedure.
Has anybody done this?

  • How to invoke DB stored procedures from EJB3.0

    In our project we are using EJB3.0.
    I got one situation, where i need to call a db stored procedure through my code. But i couldn't find any possibilities.
    Can any body help me in this regard
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
    As per ejb3.0 spec is conserned it doesnt specify anything with regard to stored procedures as of now, it means ejb3.0 cannot handle stored procedures as of now, of course it still depends on vendor implemenation u can check out for any possibilities wether vendor provides support for it or not, as for as i am conserned they dont as of now.
    Possible Alternative:
    This can be achived only through BMT using 2 transactions.
    Open a seperate JDBC managed Transaction(by setting AutoCommit to false) execute the stored procedures from here, u can commit or roll back from there on.

  • How to limit the response rows while invoking a stored procedure from OSB 10gR3

    Dear Experts,
    I am trying to limit the response while invoking a stored procedure from OSB via DB adapter.
    Here the stored procedure returns cursors as response. I tried using the MaxTransactionSize propertiy (which is used for polling the database option in DB adapter).
    We are investigating the ways to protect the application from response containing huge number of rows.
    Is there any way to restrict the number of rows returned in each and every cursor while invoking the stored procedure via DB adapter?
    Thanks
    Ram

    Hi James ,
    I want to know how to run stored procedure using jca adapter in OSB11g.
    I am new to stored prcoedure,will be great if you could share some example on it as above.
    Req: Single input xml will be posted on queue ,need to perform 3 DB operation (with same input):
    1.Insert operation to insert master table contents.
    2.select the primary key column value from master table for the last inserted record.
    3.Need to insert primary key column value + other fields frm same xml file to child table.
    Pls assist me on how to create a simple stored procedure and to run the same with OSB 11g.I am familiar with creation of DB adapter using Jdeveloper,we have option to perform insert and to call stored procedure here,will it be useful for this scenario?

  • How to call multiple stored procedure from same DB Adapter

    Hi,
    I want to invoke 3 stored procedures from my message flow in BUS . I created a DB adapter and invoked 1 successfully . Now I don't to configure 2 other DB adapters for calling other 2 stored procedures . I want some how to be able to call the other 2 from the first DB adapter only . Somehow I need the flexibility to have procedure names as the operation names in 1 wsdl and be able to configure this in JDeveloper for this at time of DB adapter configuration . I am using 11G . Is it possible ?

    You can probably create a DB adapter with operation type selected as Execute Pure SQL and write SQL code to invoke the stored procedures depending on the procedure name (which you can get as one of the parameters of DB Adapter).
    However, Even if you were able to do it, the DB Adapter schemas are generated based on stored procedure parameter list and types. If you use Execute Pure SQL type of DB Adapter the schema will be generated based on the parameters which you are using in your custom SQL code within DB Adapter. Which means that if you want to add a new stored procedure as target which has a different name and different parameters then you will need to regenerate the DB adapter and update your custom SQL code. This also means that you will need to do regression testing interfaces to all stored procedures whenever there is any change in this DBAdapter.
    Now, my question is why do you want to invoke multiple stored procedures from same DB adapter?
    This is not a good way to design integration solutions and makes your services resistance to change as it will take more time to change and test.
    If all that you want is to have a web service which can have different operations for different stored procedures then you should create three business services and create a wrapper proxy service which has one operation for each stored procedure, within the proxy transform and call the correct backend service (you can use operational branch). This way you have a modular code where each module (read interface to one stored procedure) can be independently modified and tested.

    I just try a simple call with a data tag just like this (see category.jsp in the onlineorder example provided with Jdev 3.2.3):
    <!-- Tutorial - ApplicationModule Tag -->
    <%@ taglib uri="/webapp/DataTags.tld" prefix="jbo" %>
    <jbo:ApplicationModule configname="OnlineOrders.OnlineOrdersModule.LocalConfig" id="OnlineOrdersModule" username="BC4J" password="BC4J" />

    <jbo:ExecuteSQL appid="OnlineOrdersModule" >

  • How to invoke Oracle stored procedures in Web Intelligence Custom SQL ?

    Hi,
    Referring to some older posts, I see that there is a work around to invoke a stored procedure to return results for a Web Intelligence report. Its been posted for calling a MS SQL stored proc, whereas the mentioned method does not seem to work for an Oracle Stored Procedure.
    Steps I followed:
    a) This is the parameter I have added in the oracle.sbo file => <Parameter Name="Force SQLExecute">Procedures</Parameter>
    b) My stored procedure code is as follows:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE get_emp_details(var_first_name OUT VARCHAR) AS
    BEGIN
    SELECT first_name INTO var_first_name
    FROM EMP_DETAILS_VIEW
    WHERE EMPLOYEE_ID = 100;
    END;
    c) Custom SQL code I added in my Webi report:
    set nocount on;
    /* SELECT
    EMP_DETAILS_VIEW.FIRST_NAME
    FROM
    EMP_DETAILS_VIEW
    exec get_emp_details;
    On trying to validate the SQL it gives me the following error message: "The SQL query has 0 instead of 1 columns.(WIS 10810)"
    Has anyone been able to successfully call an Oracle Stored procedure using the above method ?
    Version of BO: XI R3 SP2
    Oracle version: 11gR2
    PS: I am aware that web intelligence since XI R3.1 does allow use of a dedicated Stored Procedure Universe. I would want to know if it could
    be made to run in a normal Universe(not a stored procedure Universe)
    Thanks for your time and inputs.
    Regards,
    Jez

    EXECUTE is a SQL Plus command. You can directly call SP in PL/SQL
    DECLARE
        modif number;
    BEGIN
    select data_length into modif from user_tab_columns where table_name='CONTROL' and column_name='POSITION';
    IF modif < 10 THEN
        droptable('CONTROL');
        execute immediate('CRETAE TABLE CONTROL ....';
    ...

    The user should have execution privilege of that procedure.Correct. The execute privilege needs to granted to the user directly, rather than through a role.

  • How to invoke a stored procedure on MS Sql Server with Java?

    I started writing Enterprise Java Beans and created an ODBC dsn with MS Sql Server 2000 which I can access using jdbc:odbc:mySqlDSN. This all works fine using Java Sql Statements. What kind of Java/Java Sql statement can I use to invoke a stored procedure on the Sql Server? Is it possible to use ADO/ADO command objects with Java? Is it possible to import/implement Mdac2.6 ActiveX data objects libary in Java?
    Thanks

    Thanks all for your replies. I will search the api for callable statements. I am curious though, the reply that suggests using a prepared statement - can I put the name of a stored procedure in a prepared statment or is this just suggestions an action query like Insert Into, Update, Delete? Like with ADO you can say
    cmdObject.CommandType = adStoredProcedure
    cmdObject.CommandText = "NameOfStoredProc"
    cmdObject.ExecuteNonQuery()
    Once I am calling/importing/implementing the proper libraries/interfaces in Java, can a prepared statement reference a stored procedure as above?
    Thanks

  • Calling Oracle Stored Procedure from BC4J JSP App

    I am on an extremely tight deadline and am trying to get my JSP application to use an Oracle Stored Procedure. I need to take some input from the user and send these values as parameters. Has anyone worked with Stored Procedures in JDev3.1? Please reply with some sample code if possible.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Someone posted a similar request the other day. Here is my response to them:
    Basically, you need to create a custom method from your JSP's ViewObject, which calls the stored procedure. You can then call the ViewObject's custom method from the JSP client.
    Here is how I have done it:
    1. Choose the ViewObject that your JSP is based on and choose 'Edit' from the context menu.
    2. On the Java tab of the ViewObject wizard, choose Generate Java File checkbox for the View Object Class and click the Finish button. A file is created under the ViewObject node in the Navigator named 'viewobjectImpl.java'.
    3. Open the viewobjectImpl.java file in the code editor and create a method to call your stored procedure (see sample code below).
    4. Compile the VOImpl.java file.
    5. Choose the view object again, and choose Edit again from the context menu.
    6. On the Client Methods tab, you should now see your method appear in the Available field. Select it and shuttle it to the Selected field.
    7. Click Finish to leave the VO wizard, and rebuild your Business Components project.
    8. In your JSP, call the custom method (see sample code below).
    sample code for custom method calling a stored procedure from VOImpl.java file:
    public int getTotalHits(String mon, String year) {
    CallableStatement stmt = null;
    int total;
    // the call to the PL/SQL stored proc
    String totalhits = "{? = call walkthru.total_hits(?,?)}";
    // use the AM conxn 2 call storedproc
    stmt = getDBTransaction().createCallableStatement(totalhits, 1);
    try
    // Bind the Statement Parameters and //Execute this Statement
    stmt.registerOutParameter(1,Types.INTEGER);
    stmt.setString(2,mon); stmt.setString(3,year);
    stmt.execute();
    total = stmt.getInt(1);
    catch (Exception ex)
    throw new oracle.jbo.JboException(ex);
    finally
    try
    stmt.close();
    catch (Exception nex)
    return total;
    sample render code for calling custom method from JSP custom bean:
    public void render() {
    int totalhits;
    try
    Row[] rows;
    // Retrieve all records by default, the qView variable is defined in the base class
    qView.setRangeSize(-1);
    qView.first();
    rows = qView.getAllRowsInRange();
    // instantiate a view object for our exported method
    // and call the stored procedure to get the total
    ViewObject vo = qView.getViewObject();
    wtQueryView theView = (wtQueryView) vo;
    totalhits = theView.getTotalHits(session.getValue("m").toString(),session.getValue("y").toString());
    out.println(totalhits);
    } catch(Exception ex)
    throw new RuntimeException(ex.getMessage());
    }
