  • Joining Split Files - How do i ?

    I have searched and searched for answers on this but am amazed at how little information there is on joining split files for a Mac.
    I am downloading split files for media from the Usernet, such as Par and avi.
    Once I get the file I am 'currently' using MacPAR Deluxe to open the file.
    It basically sorts it out and tells me that the files are good.
    At this point I am clueless of what to do with these extracted? files.
    Everyone I have asked or any google seach leads me to a link for ChunkJoiner 2.2 which doesn't work with Tiger... so that is out.
    I suppose I have gobs of questions here.. like what is a good split file joiner software to use for Mac? What do i do with the files once MacPAR does its thing? Or if someone can really lay it out for me on how to download a movie off a newsgroup and actually get a usable file to burn a DVD that would be really helpful. Maybe someone knows of a website that lays it out for Mac users?
    I am using Tiger 10.4.7 20" Mac Intel
    I really appreciate any help.

    Help in MacPAR deLuxe should be of some use. If you have .par2 files set to open in MacPAR deLuxe, everything should happen automatically when you double-click the .par2 file. It should verify the files, make repairs, if there are enough .par2 files, and extract the desired files from the .rar files. The repair process can take a while. Eventually it will say if it can, or cannot, repair the files.
    MacPAR deLuxe works for almost everything I download. Sometimes you also need Split&Concat installed.
    <http://www.xs4all.nl/~loekjehe/Split&Concat/>
    Sometimes I need UnRarX <http://unrarx.sourceforge.net/news.html>
    If MacPAR deLuxe doesn't complete the job, opening the first .rar file with UnRarX should do it.
    I have never heard of, let alone used, ChunkJoiner.
    If the download is in DVD format you should end up with a VIDEO_TS folder. You can drag the folder onto Apple's DVD Player to watch it. To burn a DVD, drag it onto DVD Imager.
    <http://lonestar.utsa.edu/llee/applescript/dvdimager.html>
    This will create an UDF disk image file that you burn to a DVD with Disk Utility.
    Some DVD downloads are disk image files (.ISO, .img, etc.). If you mount one of these by double-clicking you should see the VIDEO_TS folder. If you start Apple's DVD Player it should find the file automatically since it is in UDF format. You can burn these to DVD directly with Disk Utility. You do not need DVD Imager if it is already UDF.
    Ask if you still have problems. Of course you need a good news-server for multimedia files or you will never get complete downloads. I use GigaNews. Not cheap, but very reliable.
    Give the newsgroup and filename of a download that is failing, and I can try it.

  • How to Join .RAR files in OS X

    My friend burned something for me that's in 2 parts. Each part is a .rar file. How under OS X can these files be joined?
    The reason he split it into two parts is because it wouldn't fit onto one DVD.
    Help is much appreciated. Thanks!

    I know Stuffit Expander will join RAR files, as I've done it.

  • How to join multiple files in Soundbooth (i.e. append segments)

    New to Soundbooth, I see no way to "open append" or otherwise join separate files, short of selecting entire files and then copy/pasting them into another file.  Is there no tool to join or append files in Soundbooth?

    UTL_MAIL does not work like that - you pointing to an external file and telling it to grab it and attached it to your e-mail.
    If you refer to the manual, the attachment parameter specifies it must contain the contents of the file.
    So your code needs to open the file. Your code needs to read the contents of the file. Your code needs to close the file. Your code needs to supply the contents text to UTL_MAIL via the attachment parameter.
    And as there is only a single attachment parameter, only a single file's contents can be supplied as attachment.
    Multiple attachments? Then you need to do what UTL_MAIL does. You need to write code that creates a valid e-mail Mime body. The Mime body must allow for multiple attachment. The Mime body needs to be delivered as an e-mail via the UTL_SMTP package.

  • How to join download split files

    how to join the downloaded split files in mac bookair?

    It sorta depends on what was used to split the files. Is it a segmented zip or stuffit file? If so then Unarchiver or Stuffit Expander (respectively) should work. If it is a RAR file RAR Expander should do it.

  • A pdf file failed to convert to word, presumably because of size.  how do i split a large pdf file into manageable secrtions?

    I'm running Abode Reader XI version 11.0.7.  Repeated attempts to convert a large (439 page) file, a dissertation, failed.  How do I split a large pdf file like this into manageable sections for conversion?

    Hi Mike,
    Your 11MB file is well within the file-size limits for ExportPDF, but depending on the number of pages, complexity of the file (and yours doesn't sound complex), and your connection speed, it is possible that the service is simply timing out before it can finish processing. These steps can help:
    If the file already contains editable text (that is, it isn't a scanned document), try disabling OCR as outlined in this this document: How to disable Optical Character Recognition (OCR) when converting PDF to Word or Excel.
    Clear the browser cache and try again.
    Try a different browser.
    Let's start there. If you still can't export the file to Word, let me know and we'll take it from there.
    Best,
    Sara

  • How can I split a QuickTime file in two?

    8/21/2006. How can I split a QuickTime file in two? I saved a two hour videotape converted by PYRO A/V LINK to iBook G4 combo into a file of 24.5 Gb, and I saved to QuickTime into 536 mgs. Of course, it took half a day. When I went to copy it as video (536 mgs) onto a CD of 700 mg capacity, Toast 7 said it required 1100 mgs and couldn't do it. I have QuickTime Pro, got just recently. I would be very happy to learn how to split it, so to copy each of the split pieces onto 2 CD's, for my own purposes. Many, many thanks. Chuck Yopst. Kirk, Thanks for your post Monday 8/21. Interesting how things worked out. I split the OuickTime file--of my retired uncle Church of the Brethren pastor's 50th wedding anniversary, and came up with two folders. Each contained four more folders, and inside folder Mvseg was file Avseq.dat which contained the video material and, when double clicked, started playing that half of the story on Windows 98SE. It just so happens that my uncle's PC operating system is a Windows 98SE. All this from QuickTime 7.0 which Windows 98SE would play the audio but not the video. Then a week later, yesterday in fact, in looking through iDVD help I found your solution, which heretofore I had no idea of. I had to go into System Preferences--Hardware--CDs & DVDs, and set these for "Open with 'Ask what you want to do'." The factory settings were to "open these when inserted" without that "Ask"ing. So then I was able and did follow your solution and it worked, but as a single QuickTime file, playable on Windows XP and Windows 2000 and Macintosh but not Windows 98SE. So everything worked out well. And thank you again. Chuck Y

  • HT201066 How can I split a long recording audio file into multiple audio files?

    Hi,
    How can I split a long recording audio file into multiple audio files?
    With Windows I was using Nero software, which is not available for Mac. Is there any similar app for free for Mac?
    Thanks!

    Hello ingiorgio
    You can import the track into GarageBand and then split the tracks there. Once that it is done you can highlight the ruler section and then share the song to iTunes to get them separated out.

  • Workflow Components : how to use SPLIT and JOIN ?

    Dear all,
    Because a Transition does not have any return of result, do you know how to use SPLIT and JOIN components ?
    <activity name='"xyz">
    <Transition to='act1'>
    </Transition>
    <Transition to='act2'>
    </Transition>
    </activity>
    In this above example, the second transition towards act2 is never called (i.e. there is no condition for the first transition) because there is no return of result for the first transition.
    Unfortunately, I didn't find any documentation about the SPLIT and JOIN workflow components. Do you have some information about these components ? How to use them ?
    Thanks a lot.

    <activity name='"xyz" andSplit='true'>
    <Transition to='act1'>
    </Transition>
    <Transition to='act2'>
    </Transition>
    </activity>
    The "andSplit='true'" will cause it transition to both act1 and act1.

  • How do you join .001 files in OS X?

    Hi, I have several files (mp3) in the .001 format, and I was wondering if there was any application available to join these files in OS X. These are split, not compressed files. From what I gathered, in Windows, they commonly use WinRAR or 7-Zip, but I don't have access to a Windows PC. Any help would be greatly appreciated, my project is on hold until I can use these files.

    UnrarX wouldn't work, returning a "No files to extract" error. Apparently SimplyRAR isn't available anymore due to trademark infringement, but if you can get your hands on it, it appears to work with uncompressed .001.
    However, you did lead me in the right direction and I found Catenator, which is quite simple and did the job perfectly. Thanks!
