How to limit input into a particular range?

Hello,
I am trying to input value of voltage using numeric control. I wanted to know a way to limit this input to a range.like i want inputs to be valid only between 1-10 v if user enters 11, it should not work and display an error. do i need to compare the input to a previously defined string?

There are several ways to limit the input. You can right click the numeric control, click on properties, click on the Data Range tab, and set the min and max values. If max is set to 10, and the user tries to type in 11, it will convert to 10.
Another way is to check the numeric value using the In Range and Coerce function found in the Comparison palette. You can wire in a min and max value, and the numeric value. If the numeric is within range the boolean output will be True. If not within range, the boolean will be False and the Coerced output will be the min or max value that you specified.
A third way is to create a dialog vi that asks for user input. In this vi you can check the value that the user types in using the In Range and Coerce function, and if not in range then you can prompt the user to try again.

Try this.
Create an internal table and populated it with the values present in the F4 help of the field. Then in AT SELECTION-SCREEN event check the value of the field with the values in the internal table and display the appropriate message.

How to insert input into diffrential equation models in LabVIEW

Hi,
I am trying to model a system expressed in a set of differential equations.
using the differential equation function in LabVIEW you can define
a differential equation of the form:
dy/dt +y=0
Into LabVIEW. But How do you insert the input u(t) into that.
Even in example in the student edition of LabVIEW (the book) in pages 437-443
it explains the differential equation set up, but where the input function u(t) will go?

How to Captured Value into Select-Options Range Table Without "Enter"

Hi,
I defined a set of Select-Options in the Web Dynpro. I found that the value for the Select-Options will not be captured whenever I manually type in the value instead of choosing it from F4 Help Drop Down.
However, this problem can be resolved if I manually type in the value for Select-Options in the Selection Field and I press "Enter". Without pressing "Enter" value will not be captured.
Any solution for this issue? Please help.

My problem is only when the user key in the value themselves rather than choosing it from Select-Options drop down value. Most of the time user will know what value to key in and will skip the step to choose from the Drop Down List. Thus, if this happen, the value keyed in by the user will not be able to capture into the range table.

Triggering input into a MIO-16XE-50 using a DIO-96

Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone knows how to trigger input into an MIO16XE50 using a DIO-96 card. I want to send out a digital pulse to a BNC-2090 that is connected to both the MIO16XE50 and the DIO96 using the DIO96 card. After this digital pulse, I want to collect data before the trigger and after. I am using NIDAQ Tools for Igor Pro to acquire data from the MIO16XE50 and I am using MatLab to send the trigger pulse from the DIO96. Should I use the external trigger option in NIDAQ Tools, or is there a better way to do it? Thanks a lot!

The best way to go about that is to set a digital trigger analog input acquisition, and have the trigger channel to be PFI0. Then, you need to make the digital trigger pulse to be wired to the PFI0 pin of your DAQ device connector.
You can also configure your Software to acquire some points before the trigger. It will acquire data after the trigger by default. The parameter you need to set to acquire data before the trigger is "pre-trigger number of points".

How can I have multiple inputs into the selector terminal of a case structure

Hi everyone
I have a question on how to wire multiple inputs in to the selector terminal of a case structure.
Currently, I have three switches, each switch determines different case. So if I switch the switch 1 is on, the numeric indicator will show 1. If the switch 2 is on, the numeric indicator will show 2, so on and so forth. However, the selector terminal will not allow me to wire multiply inputs into the case structure, I tried Bundle by Name, Bundle and Array to Cluster, but they did not work. I set the case structure with 3 cases, they are 1, 2 and 3.
Could someone help me please. I have attach an image and the VI of the work I did so far.
I have another question, is there a function which can toggle other switches to off when there is a switch has been toggled on.

Tommy, attached find a cheeseball way of doing this that has given me a LOT of mileage over the years. IT lends itself nicely to a couple of really good practices that NI recommend, but I have given you the bare-bones to "see under the hood".
The recommended practices:
1. You can make this a nice tight sub-vi where you can put it into a core library of routines that you'll use over the years, even extending the logic to look only for changes, etc.
2. If you are thinking about Front Panel design considerations, you'll want to use arrays of controls where possible, as that's a nice neat way of containerizing your switch for both the FP and Block Diagram.
Have fun. I have TONS of these types of things, so feel free to PM me if you have any other needs.

I'm interested in setting up a text box that only accepts a one or two digit integer value - so it would stop the user from inputting any character that wasnt a digit, and stop the user from inputting more than two digits - this must be something that is commonly done.

Well, I'm confused by your question. JDK1.4 has a class called JFormattedTextField. I don't have JDK1.4 so I can't tell you how to use it, but from other posts I've seen on the forum I think it is something like:
JFormattedTextField field = new JFormattedTextField( "##" );
If you don't use JDK1.4 then you can create a custom Documents which will do what you need. The Swing tutorial on "General Rules for Using Text Components" will help:

When the client will have ticked 5 boxes in this case and only in this case, all others boxes must become unavailable so it is very difficult to set up

This is a form validation issue. For example, you may have a text field and the value entered into that field determines which checkboxes must be completed to satisfy a validation or business rule. The attached sample requests the value "foobar" to be entered into a text field. If you enter "foobar" and exit the field, 2 of 3 checkboxes have the access property changed to "protected", meaning a user cannot no longer select those checkboxes.

I am working with Excel Destination in SSIS, where i have to insert table data into multiple excel sheets with specific range, sheet name same as table name and i should load each table into that particular sheet name in excel.
So Sheet name will decide at run time and i have created one variable to pass complete sheet name (like [DimAge$A16:R1000]) in excel destination, but it is throwing error Here i am facing two complexities
1)Getting error while passing excel sheet name as variable
2) How to insert into excel in specific range of values shown as above.

Based on my research, a worksheet or range is the equivalent of a table or view in Excel. The lists of available tables in the Excel Source and Destination editors display only existing worksheets (identified by the $ sign appended to the worksheet name,
such as Sheet1$) and named ranges (identified by the absence of the $ sign, such as MyRange).
So when you use a variable with [DimAge$A16:R1000] or [Select * from DimAge!A$16:R$1000] value in the Excel Destination, the value acts as a worksheet or range name. But there is no such worksheet or range in the excel file, so the error message occurs.
To fix this issue, please select the cell range in your excel sheet, then right-click the range to define a name for the range to create some ranges with the specific ranges in excel file, then in the "Name of the Excel Sheet" drop down box of
"Excel Destination Editor" you can see that Named range. Then simply select the range from the drop-down list or use a variable with the range name as the Excel Destination.
