How to load ".pln" plugin in indesign
Hi everyone,
I have created a plugin using DollyXs " DollyTest.pln " and copied the plugin with its supporting files in the Adobe indesin plugin directory.
But when I launch the indesign it gives the error- " Adobe Indesign cannot load the DollyTest plugin ". I have attached the screenshot of the error dialog. Anyone please tell me how to run the plugin that I have created.

How to load a plugin from another plugin?

I'm trying to load a plugin, which is not located in the plugin-paths of After Effects from another plugin. It seems to load the aex(dll) and execute the main function fine, but afterwards it crashes immediately and I have no idea why.
This is how my pluginLoader-PlugIn looks like:
1. I created a commandHook to be able to trigger the pluginLoad from the Edit Menu
2. for the actual load of the dll I use the following commands:

If I run After Effects with the debugger, the EntryFunction of the new plugin runs through without errors. But Then it crashes and stops at random positions: sometimes in the IdleHook of the newly loaded Plugin, sometimes in the MenuHook.
Does anyone have an idea, what I am doing wrong?
btw: when I copy the second plugin in the default Afx-Plugin-Folder it loads fine and seems to work correct.

MartinOkay, unfortunately it had nothing to do with static or dynamic linking of the dependencies.
I was able to boil it down to the following problem but I'm still stuck on how to solve the situation:
The problem has to do with an invalid AEGP_GlobalRefcon of the Plugin I load:

To gather a valid plugin id, I register the plugin and assign a new AEGP_GlobalRefcon to it, which is for instance at address 0x0001234abcd (plugin-loader line 3)
then I call the entry function(plugin-loader line 4) and the entry function creates a custom class and stores a pointer to its instance in the global_refconP pointer, which changes the address from 0x0001234abcd to 0x0a010b020c3d4.
The crash happens later, when a hook (eg IdleHook) is called, which tries to reinterpret the refconPV-pointer of the plugin (address 0x0001234abcd) to a CustomClass-instance, because the actual instance is stored at 0x0a010b020c3d4.
I reckon, that I can fix this if I either can change the global refcon of the plugin after the enty function has run or if I can get a valid plugin id before calling the entry function and doing the registration with the new refcon I got returned by the entry function of the loaded plugin.
Does anyone know how to achieve one of these two goals? -

Starting on Fri. 6/10/11, every time I start up Firefox 3.6.17, it loads the plugin update site. Initially, it said my Adobe reader plugin was out of date. Therefore I updated that plugin, yet that did not fix the problem. So I was finally forced to disable the plugin. After doing this, the plugin updates check still runs every time I start FF. However, they all come back up to date.
So my question is how do you make this plugin update check stop running. I had made no changes to firefox prior to this.There's a fault with the blocklist.xml file which was updated on Friday, it should be fixed on Monday and you should get the updated file on Monday or Tuesday.

Does anyone know how to run a plugin as a service or something like that...
What i want to do is,
I have written a plugin that can read texts from indd files & save them as .txt files.
now i want to put indd files in to a folder & once a new file comes to the folder, read that new file automatically and save as txt.
for that I want to run the plugin, without opening the indd file.
I hope CS6 SDK support to do that.

I'll explain you what my requirement is,
My final goal is to run the Indesign application(including my plugin) in a server & put all indd files in to a location(ex.folder) &
once an indd file comes to that folder it'll be automatically read by Indesign application & save the extracted data in a separate location(ex.another folder) as tex files. then human interaction is not needed...
My precsent problem is,
Can I read an indd file, without opening indd file in Indesign application (may be giving a path to a indd files included folder or some way like that).
Currently,
first i open the Indesign Application -> Open the indd file(intended to be read) -> Run my plugin.
Now I Get the document with,

But what I want is,
while the Indesign application is running on a PC, if an indd file comes to a given location(folder) it to be read automaticaly without opening my pluging.
To do that My idea is,
* Any time when the Indesign apllication is opend my plugin should automatically start running,
* once a new file comes to a given location(folder) plugin shoud be automatically triggered & read the file.
Please help me with your ideas..

Where do I find and load my plugins?
You will need to reinstall these. It may be necessary to get new versions and/or pay for an upgrade to get versions that are compatible with PSCC 2014. I can use the Nik Collection in 2014 but would have to pay to upgrade OnOne and chose not to. You may have different versions, so don't assume this is applicable to you.

CS5.5 / Mac Release: Can't load my plugin
Hi
I take my XCode project for CS5 and changed the settings for CS5.5 (SDK CS5.5, directories, and so on). After different changes, I can compile and link my plugin (debug and release version) without some errors. The debug version is loaded in Indesign CS5.5 debug, but the release doesn't. There is a message like "The plugin use Indesign Version 7.0 and can't be loaded".
I copied the plugin manually in the Plug-Ins folder.
Any ideas?

This problem could occur if your project setting for release target points to CS5 SDK. Try checking out your project settings for release target.

How to use turntablist plugin?
Hi all,
Sorry if this is a really dumb question, I'm pretty new to Logic Pro 9 and am loving it so far!!
Currently playing around with plugins, and was looking for something that can give you some scratch effects. Had a look through previous discussions and found DestroyFX's Turntablist. Sounded like it was worth a shot so downloaded the AU. It is recognised in the AU manager and validated ok, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to load it!!
I'm aware that it is not a plugin as such, but is a software instrument from previous discussions, but I can't find out how to assign it to a track as it doesn't appear in my library on the right hand panel?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Alternatively any other suggestions for plug ins would also be appreciated (I'm also well aware that the best way to get scratch effects is to actually do it yourself on a turntable if you know what you are doing (which I don't) or get a DJ to record some samples for you (which I don't really need to do!).
ThanksSomewhere on the gui there is a "load" button. You have to load the sample that you want to use into the plugin. Then you have to turn it on and sent a MIDI note to it for it to play the sample. Then you can automate things like turning off the turntabe and having the sound slow down, etc. Have fun....

I created a new topic because the questions about
how to detect Java Plugin in browsers are scattered
thoughout this forum.
Basically you need to employ two approaches for IE and NS.
In IE you need to try to instantiate a small applet
(not your production applet) in order to see if browser
can do it. if the browser can do it, you can make a
call applet from JavaScript in order to find version of
JRE (as well as a host of other things).
In NS you can write a simple JavaScript which will
interrogate the browser for all plugins installed. Then
ypu can make a desicion whether to pass execution to
the next(or generated) page which hosts your applet,
or ask the user to download/install a plugin.
I ecourage everybody to host a plugin on your site
rather leave default link to it which is generated by
html converter.
In order to run sample,
Prerequisites:
Java Plugin 1.3.
If you have a different version of plugin,
substitute hardcoded plugin version in JavaScript for
value that you have.
1. compile java file
2. put class file in the same directory with html file
3. load html file into the browser.
4. press "Check Java Plugin.." button
5. see it work
6. examine code
7. uninstall plugin
8. repeat steps 1 - 4
9. see it work
10. install plugin.

How to Refer dll in my InDesign Plug-In Project ???

I have a xxx.dll and xxx.lib.
b I kept xxx.dll in indesign.exe path. and
b xxx.lib in "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS3 Products SDK\build\win\objd"
I set the reference for xxx.lib in
b project->properties->common properties->References
and in
b project->properties->cofiguration->Linker->Input->Additional Dependecies
I am not able Refer this dll from my Plug-In project and access its methods.
Where i am wrong?? or I need to do some additional coding for this..

I Have had a paid membership for over a year, Adobe says I have a free membership , I have PAS and AI installed and updated - When trying to re-load and/or update INDesign CC - Keeps saying my trial is over and is asking for serial number. I have uninstalled Indesign and the Creative Cloud desktop App.

Any suggestions.I cannot tell you how to resolve this, but I can tell you what happened to me since I made the mistake of buying a year's membership.
Like you, I noticed that despite paying the fee and it leaving my account, I still only had access to the trial versions of the apps. I read around and some people commented that it took some time for the billing team and other teams to co-ordinate information at busy times (though it seemed odd a company of Adobe's size would have this workflow) and as I could still make do with the trial apps, I waited.
Eventually, with the trial days going down to the low digits, I contacted Adobe "customer support" to ask how I could rectify the problem. They cheerfully told me that I had not purchased a subscription from them, that I was not on their records and with this the implication that my expectation was foolish as I didn't own their product. I supplied some bank information to show I had paid and they had taken money, but I just got the same poorly worded response telling me records had been checked and there was no way I had been charged. The issue was closed and it was clear to me I could not change their mind despite having evidence that clearly indicated Adobe had charged me the exact payment for the service I was asking about.
As some weeks had gone by I resolved to contact my bank, but the birth of my Daughter in late October meant I forgot to do so. My mistake, I know, but I think understandable. I noticed that in late November another charge was taken from my account (and I checked to see if I could access the apps but I was still being asked to provide a serial number I was never given (or needed if other people are correct on this). I contacted my Bank and asked them to prevent any more charges and also to begin the process of charging back the money for a service I never received. I sent them the correspondence I had with Adobe, in which they said I had never purchased the service, as well as copies of my account to go with the data they had access to. My money was refunded before Christmas, which I was very glad to see. I thought that it would be the end of it for a while and resolved to cancel. However under my account details it still shows I only have a free membership! I cannot cancel something I do not have!
I have now received a letter from my bank indicating Adobe have contested my charge back, and they have supplied documents that show I have signed up for and paid for the year's service. There is no indication of them acknowledging that despite the fact I never denied signing up, they failed to provide the service I paid for! Just that they want the money back!
So now I am in a situation where I cannot cancel and will continue to be charged for something that I still cannot access! I will continue to see if I can fight with the aid of my bank, but its a rather distressing that a company can hold you over a barrel for something you never got, even by their own admission.
I hope that you get a better resolution than I did.
