How to locate files in cache

I'm using JDK 6.11 on MS Windows and would like to call Runtime.getRuntime().exec() on a JWS downloaded .exe file. Therefore I need the exact path to the file in the JWS cache. I could do a file search in
C:\\Dokumente und Einstellungen\\Stefan von Wachter\\Anwendungsdaten\\Sun\\Java\\Deployment\\cache
but this seems to be an error prone solution. (Although it works on my system.)
It is interesting that I can successfully call loadLibrary() for a .dll residing in the same .jar archive than the .exe .
I don't understand why there isn't an API in javax.jnlp.DownloadService for getting the location of the downloaded files.
There is a JNLP sample WebPad, but it doesn't show my problem because the source code for HelpSet is not available.
There is a related forum thread
http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5319615&tstart=150
(Problem with java web start resources (no !/ in spec) )
but it doesn't contain a clean solution.
Thanks for help,
Stefan

My installer app is now running, but not working ...
It should be mentioned that the installer.jnlp needs a security statement for accessing files on local disk:
  <security>
    <all-permissions/>
</security> Unfortunately I still don't see how to get a (.exe or other) file out from the .jar and copy it to a specified location on the local disk.
It ist possible to read an image file using:
         URL icURL = getClass().getResource( "/winexeinstaller/TMLogo2.png" );
ImageIcon myIc = new javax.swing.ImageIcon( icURL );But if I call
FileInputStream   from = new FileInputStream( fromFile );it throws the FileNotFoundException
SCHWERWIEGEND: fileCopy failed
     at java.io.FileInputStream.open(Native Method)
     at java.io.FileInputStream.<init>(Unknown Source)
     at winexeinstaller.Installer.fileCopy(Installer.java:174)
     at winexeinstaller.Installer.<init>(Installer.java:72)
at winexeinstaller.Installer.main(Installer.java:96)These problems have been discussed here, but I don't see the solution.
The jws Spec says:
The installer extension is intended to install platform-specific native code that requires a more complicated
setup than simply loading a native library into the JVM, such as installing a JRE or device driver. The installer
executed by the JNLP Client must be a Java Technology-based application. Note that this does not limit the
kind of code that can be installed or executed. For example, the installer could be a thin wrapper that executes
a traditional native installer, executes a shell script, or unzips a ZIP file with native code onto the disk.So it should be possible. Could somebody tell my how?
Thanks,
Stefan

  • How to locate files

    Hello,
I am new to Aperture, I am trying to keep all my pictures on an external drive connected to my iMac, in addition work on them via share with my MacBook. My question is how do I verify within Aperture of the location of an entire Project or a individual photo? And when importing do I need to double check any settings to make sure that any new imports are being saved to the external hard drive?
    Thank you,

Thank you for replying to my question. I still do not understand how to locate file, I did not see or could not find any Destination Project in the Import panel on the right side. I admit I am not even sure where the Import Panel is either. I found how to see Project Path, but even when looking at that I could not figure out how to see the entire path name. I wish there was a way to click on the picture and have it open in location folder. I do need to verify where my files are before continuing. I am new to Mac and Aperture, I have been over 15 years of pictures that I am finally trying to organize and I realize I do have duplication, but I do not want to delete anything until I am 100% sure of what I am doing

  • How to locate the correct image file before reading/saving it

    Hi,
I would like to find out how to copy/save/read image files from certain website in Java, particularly to locate the right one from various relative URL links on the same website. Below is an example to look at:
    On the main web page
By selecting (http://www.abc.com/Public/Details.aspx?adid=2007103609) on a tiny camera icon that consist of source code (<td class="even"><a target="_blank" href="http://www.abc.com/Public/Details.aspx?adid=2007135110"><img src="/images/camera.gif" width="19" ...></a></td>) directed me to another page with the actual photo.
The source code of this secondary page where the photo is located are as follows:
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"><!--
    </script>
    <style type="text/css">@import url("http://fdimages.def.com.au/cui/netstrip-20050427.css");</style>

<div class="links">Any suggestion would be much appreciated.
    Many thanks,
    Jack

    Hi All,
Could someone give me a hand with suggesting on how to locate the correct links (from multiple web pages) of the image file? I still could not proceed further on this issue.
There is no problem with saving/reading the file once it is accurately identified.
Please move it to the Java Technology & XML forum if it is not already in it.
    Many thanks,

  • How to Delete Temp files and Cache on MBP 15" Late 2011

    Hi,
Off late i am experiencing a lag in my mac and it runs bit slowly. Wanted to get a clear picture on how to clear the unwanted temp files and cache to make my mac run smoothly. Any other suggestions to make it run fast are welcome and would be of great help.
    Regards,

The assumption that unwanted temp files and cache are causing poor performance is unjustified. OS X does not maintain unwanted cache files. They exist to increase performance and are updated or deleted as necessary. So are temporary files. Certain font cache files are moved to the Trash during Safe Boot: OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode? - Apple Support. Do not use any other utility.
If your Mac is running slowly, determine if the same symptoms occur in Safe Mode.
Back up your Mac if you have not done so already. To learn how to use Time Machine read Mac Basics: Time Machine backs up your Mac - Apple Support.

  • How to Locate Original Files in Aperture Once Version Deleted from Library

I have a very large aperture library (250GB). For a long time, I have maintained my library by deleting only the "versions" of photos that I do not like (File-Delete Version), not realizing that the originals were still there. I would like to also delete the originals (master), since they are large RAW files taking up a lot of space. But with the versions now gone from my library, I do not know how to locate the original files to delete. Is there any way for me to do this?
I feel like there should be a way to find out if there are any original files not associated with a corresponding version in the library, to allow you to recover accidently deleted files.  That would be a start, but I can't find a way to do it. Thanks.

Also, I visited the Apple store recently and was told that deleting the version does not delete the master, and they even showed me on their computers where files deleted from the library were stored (they did this by "File-Open Library in iPhoto," highlighting all the images, and then "File-Reveal in Finder-Original File."
For a managed library: "Delete version" will only delete the selected version, if there is more than one version of the the same image. But if you only have one version left, delete version will delete the original file as well. An original is of no use, if you do not have a version to reference it.  The " File-Delete Original Image and All Versions" option is there to be able to delete all versions at once, together with the original file.
For a referenced library you will be prompted, if you want to delete the referenced original, if you are deleting the last version.
Just try it for a managed library. Import an image and use "Delete version" for the last version.  The version will be moved to Aperture's Trash. And if you empty the trash, you will find the original version in the Trash in your Dock. And it cannot be put back from the Trash.
You will be prompted, if you really want to delete the file, when you empty Aperture's Trash.
The App Store genius must have shown you a referenced library, when the original was not removed after deleting the version, or they did not delete the last version, if it was a managed library.

  • How do I change the cache location?

I just installed the new Firefox 4.0 beta 5. I was using Firefox 3.6.9 previously.
In Firefox 4 beta, I cannot find the menu item for changing the location of the cache. Has this feature been deleted, or simply moved to some other menu?
Specifically, I need to switch the cache location from the default C:\Users\{username}\ ..... to a different drive. This is something people commonly do if they want to minimize fragmentation on their system disk.
How can I specify a different location for the cache?

There's never been a Menu item or UI pref in Firefox for moving the Cache, it's always been a hidden pref.

  • PSE 7: "Base directory" for locating files?

I'm trying to salvage a Photoshop Elements 7 catalog that won't cleanly regenerate thumbtails on the old machine (so it hangs). I tried deleting the cache, but the system crashes the first couple of times regenerating the thumbnails, and eventually seems to "hang" at 50% CPU (sits for hours, seeming doing nothing).  The log file is no help.
On my new machine, there is no hang, but PSE 7 it is VERY slow to re-locate files, since everything is now at a different location.
Question: Is there a way to set the "base directory" for where Elements starts its search for files, when the location referenced in the catalog has changed?  Is there another way to update the catalog, when the physical location of files has changed?
I wanted to backup from the old machine and restore to the new via an external USB disk, but because the old machine "hangs" on the thumbnails, I can't.  At this point, I'm thinking of re-cataloging my thousands of photos...

    That's not how PSE works.
PSE knows about photos only if you Import the photos into PSE. Then, PSE knows what folder the photo files are in, and they must remain in that directory, unless you use PSE to move them.
So, if the photos are in different directories on the new computer, you must reconnect the photos to the PSE Organizer. Here are the details on how to do this: http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshopelements-6-7-faq.htm#_Quickly_reconnecting_la rge

  • ATS files in cache hang system at startup

We have this inconsistent problem happening on all our Mac's (10.4.10). The problem does not happen each day or consecutive days. Here is what happens. Start the Mac in the morning. When it get's past the startup screen and then starts the load the desktop and finder etc. It just hangs. What you see is the spotlight icon in top right but the rest of the menu bar does not show up. None of the desktop icons appear either. If you move the mouse towards spotlight you see it is the spinning ball. What we do then is hard shutdown the Mac then restart in safe boot mode. Once the Mac is running clean out the files in caches for ATS in library, then ATS caches in system/library. Restart the Mac and everything is normal.
Some how this hang up is related to the ATS cache files but not sure how it hangs the system?
Anyone else have this problem? It is causing us a growing frustration some of our operators are leaving the computer running overnight as to not have to deal with the issue when they turn on the Mac.
    Thanks
    Steve

Well, if it is working now...
You could check to see what the version of the Finder is as it is not reported in the crash log. The application is here:
/System/Library/CoreServices/Finder; the version should be 10.6.7. If you suspect a problem caused by updating to 10.6.6, then I suggest downloading and installing the Combo update.

  • How to open file system file from Apex?

    Hi,
Can someone help me to find how to open a pdf file e.g. test.pdf from apex when someone click on a button ABC?
The file is located in /C/
    Thanks in advance
    Dip

You can use the Onclick event and window.location to show the file when the user clicks a button.
    <input type=button onClick="window.location= 'file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/rchamarthi/Desktop/test.pdf' + document.form1.cmuds.value;" value="Open File">The actual location of the file is "C:/Documents and Settings/rchamarthi/Desktop/test.pdf"
Since the location is treated as a URL, remember that it should be URL encoded.
Hence all spaces should be replaced by '%20' (32 being the ASCII for space and 20 in hex -> 32).

  • How to specify index for cache in coherence-cache-config.xml

    Hi All,
We want to apply indexing on cache data.
Suppose i have a EMPLOYEE object in coherence cache.
and i want to use employeeID for indexing purpose.
Can anybody help me to achieve this at Congregational level i.e. using xml file (coherence-cache-config.xml) .
    Edited by: 981644 on Jan 16, 2013 1:51 AM

    Hi,
I've posted some [url http://coherence.oracle.com/download/attachments/14647422/add-index-namespace.jar]code and the [url http://coherence.oracle.com/download/attachments/14647422/add-index-namespace-src.jar]source. It depends on coherence common version 2.3.0.39174 however I believe it will work with 2.0.0.23649 also. Coherence common library can be downloaded from [url http://coherence.oracle.com/display/INC10/coherence-common]here
Note: This is purely an example on how to achieve index creation via a cache configuration file and is not a part of the product thus is not covered by product support.
Here is an example cache configuration that uses the namespace:

  • Itunes can't locate files after I listen to it on the Ipod

It seems that every time I listen to a song, I notice that Itunes can't locate it anymore. When I go to Itunes and look in my music folder, there is an exclamation point next to the song. When I click on it, the error message reads "cannot locate file, would you like to locate it now". At first it was only one or two songs, now it's over 50! These songs are still on my Ipod, just no longer in Itunes. I know how to recover the music b/c it's in my hard drive, I just don't want to sit there and find all these songs all over again. Help please.

I too have been having the same problem... I am a new ipod owner and same with itunes. And being a new owner and user I got the new itunes. It has done the exclimation point since the first day I got it. But mine is simple to fix. I mearly just exit out of itunes and re-open it. I dont evn have to wait at all. It shows the exclimation point with about 20 of my songs and it hasnt gotten in my way yet. But the main problem that makes me mad is that my ipod is only 2 weeks old but I tried to get some of my friends music and she has the older version of itunes and my ipod ONLY works on the new version. Very frustrating if you ask me.
