How to make instruments persistent...

Hi Forte Experts
I keep setting the KeepAliveCycle parameter on my server, and it seems to disappear every now and then (at reboot?)
So what is the correct procedure to set and keep this parameter alive...
Do I have to modify the startup scripts to set this parameter during/After startup or can I just do some 'save' command somewhere... Am I just missing some Install command somewhere??
I am using escript - forte version 3.0.e.2
Best wishes from

You need to put the values in the fortedef.csh or .sh file. This way every
time the node manager starts up it will set the values automatically.
setenv FORTE_KEEP_CYCLE 600
setenv FORTE_KEEP_COUNT 3
setenv FORTE_KEEP_INTERVAL 10

  • How to make swatches persistent from one document to the next?

    I want to have a custom swatches in my  workspace each time I open a document. How can I make swatches persistent in InDesign?

    You can have swatches available in new documents if you make them part of your defaults by loading them while no document is open, but there is no way that I know of to open any existing document that doesn't have a particular swatch and have that particular swatch available without loading it yourself. Probably the quickest way to load them into existing documents would be to:
    Make a frame
    Fill it with a swatch
    Repeat steps 1 & 2 until you have a frame for each swatch you want to transfer
    Grab all of the frames and drag them together into a library as one entry
    When you open a file, drag the frames from the library to the doc and immediately delete them while they are still selected. All of the swatches will have been added to your swatches list, and it's a little quicker than going to the swatches fly-out, selecting Load Swatches and navigating to a file that has the swatches saved in it, but that's another way if you prefer.

  • How to make data persist in form?

    Hi
    I've made multiple forms for a Web site. Each form is within its own module. The problem is the data entered into a form disappears as soon as the user shifts to another form (and consequently, another module). How to make the data persist in the form even if the user shifts away to another module? I've tried using a Model to hold the data but the data didn't stay in the text fields.
    <fx:Declarations>
         <fx:Model  id="babyModel1">
              <BabyForm>
                   <CleaningProducts>{babyCleanProd.text}</CleaningProducts>
                   <BabyProducts>{babyProd.text}</BabyProducts>
              </BabyForm>
         </fx:Model>
    </fx:Declarations>
    <mx:Form id="babyQuestionnaire" x="140" y="40" >
         <mx:FormItem width="100%" label="Baby Cleaning Products1">
              <s:RichEditableText
                   id="babyCleanProd"
                   width="200"
                   height="100"
                   backgroundColor="#ffffff"
                   paddingLeft="4" paddingRight="4" paddingTop="4" paddingBottom="4"
                   color="#222222"
                   />
         </mx:FormItem>
         <mx:FormItem width="100%" label="Baby Products1">
              <s:RichEditableText  id="babyProd"
                       width="200"
                        height="100"
                        backgroundColor="#ffffff"
                        paddingLeft="4" paddingRight="4" paddingTop="4" paddingBottom="4"
                        color="#222222"/>
             </mx:FormItem>
    </mx:Form>
    Any solutions? The data persists in the text fields if the forms are all in the same central application but then there's lots of code for each form.
    Thanks for your attention.
    Kearney

    I thought ModuleLoader could only load one Module at a time, and unloaded the current Module when called to load the next Module. This app has only one ModuleLoader, which loads various modules as different states are called.
    If the Model to hold the form data is in the shell application, how to wire each Model to each Form (assuming the forms are still in various modules)?
    Thanks.

    Every time you repaint it only draws what you tell it to, so how bout something like this:
    Add a vector to store the rectangles:
    Vector<Rectangle> rectangles = new Vector<Rectangle>();In paint when you create a new rectangle add it to the vector:
             public void paint(Graphics g) {
              //recover Graphics2D
              Graphics2D g2 = (Graphics2D)g;
              g2.setColor(color);

                   myRectangle = new Rectangle(startX,startY,width,height);
                   rectangles.add(myRectangle);
              } else if (moveObject) {
                   myRectangle.setLocation(x2,y2);
              for (int i = 0; i < rectangles.size(); i++) {
                   g2.draw(rectangles.get(o));
          }When you check to see if the click is in a rectangle check them all:
         //Check to see if mouse is pressed in the current rectangle.
         for (int i = 0; i < rectangles.size; i++) {
              if(rectangles.get(i).contains(x1,y1)) {
                   //move the object instead of moving it
                   drawObject = false;
                   moveObject = true;
                   myRectangle = rectangles.get(i);
         }Just briefly looked over your code so there may be a few other places you need to change. Also if you post code its a lot easier to read if you put it in code tags.

  • How to make Logic auto-select channel when external instrument is selected?

    I recently upgraded hardware and now have to upgrade the OS 9 software (MOTU FreeStyle) I've been using and join the 21st century. I asked a Guitar Center employee about what package to buy and stressed that I wanted the software to auto-select the midi channel since that was a major benefit (for me) in using FreeStyle. I was informed that all of the newer DAW software did this (which made sense to me, after all FreeStyle was already at least 10 years old, although no longer under development (hence OS 9.) Logic Express was specifically recommended.
    Sadly, I don't see this capability in Logic Express. I don't understand why, if I have 15 instruments set up, and I select a new one, I have to manually look at each of the other instruments (assuming I don't have their channels memorized) and see what channels have been used so that I don't accidentally reuse the same one for the new instrument. Doesn't the computer already know what channels are unused??
    In FreeStyle could have 25 instruments set up for a 16 channel keyboard, and as long as there was never more than 16 voices playing at any particular time, the software just managed the channels for me. I don't know what happens if you go over 16 for a 16 channel instrument, I don't think I ever did (I never had voices cut out anyway.)
    Not to berate Logic Express, there's lots of cool stuff in it that I'm looking forward to exploring, and it sounds like you have to jump through hoops even to get MOTU's Digital Performer to emulate the same behavior and I suspect it's as much of a hassle to set it up as to just do it on the fly (from previous experience of "what a salesman says" vs. "what is real.") I'm just trying to figure out how to make the computer do the computer work so that I can do the music work.
    I have lots of partial (and even some complete!) projects to port over and not nearly as much spare time as I'd like to spend playing. I'd rather spend my meager spare time composing, not fighting with the technology.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    -David

    Hi bunker,
    I can't test it at the moment but I think that can be achieved by slightly changing the code like so:
    *<script type="text/javascript" src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.4.2.min.js"></script>*
    *<script type="text/javascript">*
    *$(document).ready(function(){*
    *$("td.GFPFilter span input").focus(function(event){*
    this.select();
    this.value = '';
    *</script>*
    Also, if you found my posts helpful or correct could you apply those labels to the relevant posts?
    Cheers,
    J

  • Can anyone tell me how to make a video clip in color transition?

    Can anyone tell me how to make a video clip in color transition like the opening of "Oh Brother where art though" ?
    You know the scene at the start where it starts off Black and White then as we move down the timeline it transitions to a rusty brown gradually.
    It's on the Apple site for FC Studio as a promo clip.

    how to do a keyframe trasition in the Color FX room
    I realize that you can "add" keyframes to the timeline in COLORFX, but I don't believe they are always observed, and then they usually disappear in retrieved projects, and aren't persistent if you leave the room. To remember where they are... you might mark in a keyframe on those frames in another room as a pathfinder. The behaviour is consistent with a creature of the six-legged variety.
    Method 1. If you are trying to taper the effect (any effect) in COLOR FX, the most linear approach is to render two versions of the clip; one "with", one "without" and do an opacity fade once you have returned them to Final Cut. This gives you the most control, flexibility, repeatability and consistency.
    Method 2. You may attempt to keyframe the bleach bypass settings within the node itself -- the preset that comes with COLOR doesn't have any controls, but the Nattress plugin does.
    Method 3. Set up a "blend" node with your bleach bypass feeding one of the inputs and leave the second input to default to the untreated video... keyframe a transition from "1.00000" to "0.00000" and that should work.
    Note: the keyframe timeline markers will disappear from the timeline if you exit the clip, but the effect is likely to persist. At least that was what was happening a couple of minutes ago... for me, the effect and blend performed the transition just like it was previewing when rendered. This strategy is subject to being created and rendered "on the spot right now", and I advise making sure you have your renderqueue settings ready to go... load the clip from the COLORFX room using the Mac command bar at the top of the screen and render it right away. Don't try to save it for later. Just Do It.
    An announcement went around about two weeks ago that Mr. Deakins' website was back up and running, so give him another try... poor guy has been swamped probably doing Dreamweaver maintenance... yeah, that must be it...

  • How to make treetable transparent

    hi,
    Does anyone have idea how to make the treetable transparent so that the background image can be shown?
    Pls provide sample code if possible,thanks!

    I don't know if I can come up with some code example
    for you since I don't know what treetable your are
    using... but... Transparency is always going to relate
    to the whether your components are opaque or not.
    Opaque = Not Transparent, so setting opaque = false
    will hopefully make your table transparent. You may
    need to do this on your CellRenderer's as well.
    Hope this helps,

    * An editor that can be used to edit the tree column. This extends
    * DefaultCellEditor and uses a JTextField (actually, TreeTableTextField)
    * to perform the actual editing.
    * <p>To support editing of the tree column we can not make the tree
    * editable. The reason this doesn't work is that you can not use
    * the same component for editing and renderering. The table may have
    * the need to paint cells, while a cell is being edited. If the same
    * component were used for the rendering and editing the component would
    * be moved around, and the contents would change. When editing, this
    * is undesirable, the contents of the text field must stay the same,
    * including the caret blinking, and selections persisting. For this
    * reason the editing is done via a TableCellEditor.
    * <p>Another interesting thing to be aware of is how tree positions
    * its render and editor. The render/editor is responsible for drawing the
    * icon indicating the type of node (leaf, branch...). The tree is
    * responsible for drawing any other indicators, perhaps an additional
    * +/- sign, or lines connecting the various nodes. So, the renderer
    * is positioned based on depth. On the other hand, table always makes
    * its editor fill the contents of the cell. To get the allusion
    * that the table cell editor is part of the tree, we don't want the
    * table cell editor to fill the cell bounds. We want it to be placed
    * in the same manner as tree places it editor, and have table message
    * the tree to paint any decorations the tree wants. Then, we would
    * only have to worry about the editing part. The approach taken
    * here is to determine where tree would place the editor, and to override
    * the <code>reshape</code> method in the JTextField component to
    * nudge the textfield to the location tree would place it. Since
    * JTreeTable will paint the tree behind the editor everything should
    * just work. So, that is what we are doing here. Determining of
    * the icon position will only work if the TreeCellRenderer is
    * an instance of DefaultTreeCellRenderer. If you need custom
    * TreeCellRenderers, that don't descend from DefaultTreeCellRenderer,
    * and you want to support editing in JTreeTable, you will have
    * to do something similiar.

  • How to make modifier keys lockable? (like Caps Lock for Ctrl or Alt)

    Playing around with the non-modal text editor ne, I found myself wondering if one could simulate a modal interface (like vim has) by having something like "Ctrl Lock" or "Alt Lock" (analogous to Caps Lock) and thus a "ctrl mode"/"alt mode". I would like to try this, but I am not sure how to make it happen.
    My best guess is that this could be accomplished via XKB, but its documentation looks pretty intimidating. Is anyone here proficient in XKB and could point me in the right direction?
    Other ideas:
    – Is this something that a terminal emulator could do? Is there already one that can do it?
    – Or a shell?
    – For console applications, would it be possible to have a small wrapper that did nothing but intercept keyboard input and just pass everything through to the wrapped process, except that it would take into account the desired lockable modifier key? (I am thinking of tput here, but from my first search it appears that it doesn't do this sort of thing.)

    @Trilby: Thank you for the elaborate input!
    @drcouzelis: "sticky keys" normally means that modifiers remain active only until the next keypress, while I want a way to lock them in active state for an arbitrary number of keypresses. But still, "sticky keys" was a worthwile input for the search engine.
    The program xkbset, which can be used to set XKB options on the fly, has a function that comes very close to what I desire:
    $ xkbset h
    Usage: To set or unset various options:
    xkbset <options>
    where <options> may be all or any of (the '-' switches the feature off,
    otherwise it is switched on):
    To switch sticky keys on or off, and optionally set or reset:
    () two keys pressed at the same time stops sticky keys;
    () a modifier pressed twice will be locked:
    [-]{sticky|st} [[-]twokey|[-]latchlock]...
    I cannot select specific modiers to be affected with xkbset, but that would be fine with me. Sadly, it didn't completely work for me:
    – It doesn't affect Alt at all for me.
    – The effect seems to go away as soon as I change the window. (Maybe I need to invoke xkbset from .xinitrc for its effects to persist throughout the session? I will try that.)
    So I went on and tried to configure XKB manually. I got up to a certain point without studying the documentation in-depth, but now I have landed on an error message that seems to suggest to me that I would have to get to a better understanding about the layout files before I could understand it. Here is what I did:
    1. Got my current XKB configuration:
    xkbcomp :0 output.xkb
    2. Editet output.xkb to include the following at the end of the xkb_compatibility section:
    //Hoping this makes the ^-key into a Ctrl-Lock key:
    interpret TLDE {
    action= LockMods(modifiers=Control);
    3. Then I recompiled the configuration back into the running X server:
    $ xkbcomp out.xkb :0

    The "Error" part is where I am currently stuck. It tells me that my changes were ignored (I no that it's about them because it goes away when I comment them out), but I don't yet understand why.

  • Does anyone here know how to make a background soundtrack for a Tai Chi Video?

    Good morning,
    Does anyone here know how to make a background soundtrack for a Tai Chi Video in Garageband. I have been looking around at the different sounds and music in Garageband but I have not been able to find anything that would go with the video.
    Here is an example of a Tai chi video if you were wondering
    http://youtu.be/a6pJf2otwv8
    I want to create something like this for a video I did for a fitness gym for a Yoga instructor and Tai Chi instructor.
    Any tips would be appreciated.

    Brandon,
    you will not have to do any importing in GarageBand. Intalling Mainstage will extent GarageBands Loop Library and Instruments Library.
    After you installed MainStage the additional loops and Instruments will show in GarageBand just like all other Loops. you will simply see more loops.
    For example:
    or:

  • Do YOU know how to make a decent bassline? please help

    still can't figure out how to make a clean bassline on garageband.
    i use synthbass, tried multiband compressor, filter, EQ, etc but can't make it loud without a very noticeable distortion/unwanted vibration.
    if YOU know how to do this please reply with as much information as you can give
    thank YOU for your help

    Well, it's difficult since maybe no one else is having the same experience?? The synth bass sounds as it should to me.
    The bass choices are limited it seems. Maybe you need a JamPack or something else. See if you can find some bass on one of HT's links here:
    http://www.bulletsandbones.com/GB/PlugInsSoundFonts.html
    If you can't get enough volume out of the track maybe try duplicating the track and copying the region over to it so it's doubled.
    Have you tried the AUGraphicEQ or the Visual EQ?
    Or maybe someone with specific synth bass experience will troll by and have another suggestion.
    i dont have any midi instruments, i write all my melodies and beats purely through GBs interface!
    I believe those are MIDI instruments. Are you saying you don't have a keyboard controller you just use they musical typing or onscreen keyboards? Try MIDIkeys: http://www.manyetas.com/creed/midikeys.html (it won't help with sound, though)

  • How to make "visa find resource" working with Agilent device

    I am trying to use Agilent 82357B GPIB device with LabVIEW for instrument control.
    I have checked:
    1.       NI-VISA (ver 5.1.1) is the primary visa by checking visa.dll properties under windows\system32 folder
    2.       Enable NIVISATulip.dll in NI Max Explorer
    3.       Enable the Agilent libraries to work with NI 488.2 in Agilent IO library (ver 16).
    I am able to communicate with the instrument in Max Explorer and talk to the instrument in LabVIEW with VISA write for almost all commands.
    But I can NOT make one particular visa function (Visa find resource) working with Agilent 82357B GPIB.
    With NI USB GPIB device, the same code above can find attached instruments as below, where GPIB1 is the Agilent device and GPIB0 is the NI device.
    I have no clue on how to make “visa find resource” working with Agilent device.
    Please help.

    Quick question.  Did you also enable 488 support in Agilent?
    If that does'not work try this.  and well see if you found a bug

  • I was able copy the hardrive of my old macbook from "My Passport" onto the desktop on an older iMac. but i dont know how to make my hardrive and user name be the main one since someone had used it in the past and had their info on the comp. please help!

    I recently broke my 2008 macbook. i was able to use an external hardrive to back up my data onto My Passport. I was going to buy a new computer but a friend told me sher had an older version of the iMac. (not sure how old but it doesnt have a camera if that helps) i was able to hook it up and turn it on but i ran into a few problems. 1) the "authentic" user or whatever it says is someone who previously used the computer. i added me as a user but im not sure how to make me the main user. 2) after hooking up My Passport, i was able to drag my files and copy them to the desktop.(i think i did it correctly) now, i dont know how to make my hard drive and applications and iformation the "main " info. The current apps on the iMac are super old versions of iTunes and iPhoto and such. 3) while trying to open the apps from my macbook on the iMac, it said it didnt have the right software to open these apps.
    I am so computer illiterate so someone please help!!! Also, i do not have internet in my new apartment yet so if there is a way to make this happen without using the internet that would be preferred. sorry for the horrible spelling and poorly written paragraph.
    THANK YOU!!

    You are not going to be able to run your old system from the backup on this old computer as the hardware is incompatible.
    You need to get a new computer or a refurbished one.

  • How to make column headers in table in PDF report appear bold while datas in table appear regular from c# windows forms with sql server2008 using iTextSharp

    For past 10 days i have been breaking my head on how to make column headers in table appear bold while datas in table appear regular from c# windows forms with sql server2008 using iTextSharp.
    Given below is my code in c# on how i export datas from different tables in sql server to PDF report using iTextSharp:
    using System;
    using System.Collections.Generic;
    using System.ComponentModel;
    using System.Data;
    using System.Drawing;
    using System.Linq;
    using System.Text;
    using System.Threading.Tasks;
    using System.Windows.Forms;
    using System.Data.SqlClient;
    using iTextSharp.text;
    using iTextSharp.text.pdf;
    using System.Diagnostics;
    using System.IO;
    namespace DRRS_CSharp

    Document doc = new Document(PageSize.A4.Rotate());
    var writer = PdfWriter.GetInstance(doc, new FileStream("AssignedDialyzer.pdf", FileMode.Create));
    doc.SetMargins(50, 50, 50, 50);
    doc.SetPageSize(new iTextSharp.text.Rectangle(iTextSharp.text.PageSize.LETTER.Width, iTextSharp.text.PageSize.LETTER.Height));
    doc.Open();
    PdfPTable table = new PdfPTable(6);
    table.TotalWidth =530f;
    table.LockedWidth = true;
    PdfPCell cell = new PdfPCell(new Phrase("Institute/Hospital:AIIMS,NEW DELHI", FontFactory.GetFont("Arial", 14, iTextSharp.text.Font.BOLD, BaseColor.BLACK)));
    cell.Colspan = 6;
    cell.HorizontalAlignment = 0;
    table.AddCell(cell);
    Paragraph para=new Paragraph("DCS Clinical Record-Assigned Dialyzer",FontFactory.GetFont("Arial",16,iTextSharp.text.Font.BOLD,BaseColor.BLACK));
    para.Alignment = Element.ALIGN_CENTER;
    iTextSharp.text.Image png = iTextSharp.text.Image.GetInstance("logo5.png");
    png.ScaleToFit(105f, 105f);
    png.Alignment = Element.ALIGN_RIGHT;
    SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection("Data Source=NPD-4\\SQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=DRRS;Integrated Security=true");
    SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand("Select d.dialyserID,r.errorCode,r.dialysis_date,pn.patient_first_name,pn.patient_last_name,d.manufacturer,d.dialyzer_size,r.start_date,r.end_date,d.packed_volume,r.bundle_vol,r.disinfectant,t.Technician_first_name,t.Technician_last_name from dialyser d,patient_name pn,reprocessor r,Techniciandetail t where pn.patient_id=d.patient_id and r.dialyzer_id=d.dialyserID and t.technician_id=r.technician_id and d.deleted_status=0 and d.closed_status=0 and pn.status=1 and r.errorCode<106 and r.reprocessor_id in (Select max(reprocessor_id) from reprocessor where dialyzer_id=d.dialyserID) order by pn.patient_first_name,pn.patient_last_name", conn);
    conn.Open();

    dr = cmd.ExecuteReader();
    table.AddCell("Reprocessing Date");
    table.AddCell("Patient Name");
    table.AddCell("Dialyzer(Manufacturer,Size)");

    table.AddCell(dr[0].ToString());

    else if (MessageBox.Show("Do you want to save changes to AssignedDialyzer.pdf before closing?", "DRRS", MessageBoxButtons.YesNoCancel, MessageBoxIcon.Exclamation) == DialogResult.No)
    this.Close();
    The above code executes well with no problem at all!
    As you can see the file to which i create and save and open my pdf report is
    AssignedDialyzer.pdf.
    The column headers of table in pdf report from c# windows forms using iTextSharp are
    "Reprocessing Date","Patient Name","Dialyzer(Manufacturer,Size)","No.of Reuse","Verification" and

  • How to make downloadable links in Adobe Muse

    I am new to website design and am trying to figure out how to make downloadable links for some PDF flyers, PSD templates I am creating.   Not sure if "downloadable links" is the correct term for what I'm trying to say but in a nutshell I am creating Business Flyer's in PDF form and Photoshop PSD template files that I would like to be able to have my users click a link that allows them to download them right to their desktop.  Any help would really be appreciated!

    Hi caybar10gaming,
    I had the same question as you and was searching online for how to add "downloadable links" as well so your not alone in that lol. Anyways, I found this video that explains how to do this. I hope this helps you, as it did me. Good Luck
