How to map AM method return values in the bean
Hello -
I have this requirement to map AM method return values in the bean as explained below. Please suggest a solution.
Scenario: I am calling an AM method, which returns a String object on page load.
AMImpl Method-
public String getProfileName (){
return "Profile";
I wish to catch this retun value in the Bean Variable on page Load. I have created a methodAction biding on page and invokeAction to call this method on Page Load, but I don't know how to catch this value in the bean. Please suggest how to achieve this. Also, I need to achieve this in jsp page. I can't use TaskFlow for this.
I am using ADF 11g.

Hi, I think there are two ways, from the data control drag n drop the methods return value to the page. This way a binding for that will be created at the page definition eg retVal.
and in the backing bean you can access it by calling resolveExpression("#{bindings.retVal.inputValue}")
You can also call your method directly from the backbean
((YourAppModuleImpl) getBindings().getDataControl().getApplicationModule()).yourMethod();
public DCBindingContainer getBindings() {
return (DCBindingContainer) resolveExpression("#{bindings}");
I dont know if the second method suits you

How do I get (in c) a method return value from the java side?
I have a class in the Java side, that I pass as object to the c side.
in the Java class I have the following method:
public String getPgmId()
return pgmId;
where pgmId is a private string.
I nees to get the value of pgmId, hopefully by using the getPgmId method.
what I have until now is:
JNIEXPORT jint JNICALL Java_JavaAPI_StartProgram (JNIEnv *env, jobject obj, jobject obj2)
jmethodID methID;
jstring jstr;
const char *str;
/* Get a reference to obj2 class */
jclass cls = (*env)->GetObjectClass (env, obj2);
if (cls == NULL){
return;
methID = (*env)->GetMethodID (env, cls, "getPgmId", "()Ljava/lang/String;");
}//StartProgram
my question is how from this point, can I get the return value of the method getPgmId().
tnxjString CallStringMethod(env, obj2, methID);

Can "main" method return values
Hi,
I have a requirement of returning values to the
command prompt from the main method. Is this possible
to do in the first place. Is it valid.
i.e. Can you do the following in Java,
=======================================
import java.io.*;
import java.lang.Object;
import java.util.*;
public class P
public static String main(String args[])
String bye = "BYE";
return(bye);
=========================================
Can "main" method in Java return values at command
prompt.
Can you have something like,
public static String main(String args[])
instead of
public static void main(String args[])
Help urgently needed as I need to pipe data from a
Java program to a C++ program. One method is to
writing to a flat file but this would cause overheads
reading and writing to a file, hence this way.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Thank,sHi jchak,
Yes I am trying to pass a Java String to a C++
application. Any insights, any help.
OK the whole thing goes as follows,
=========================================
Theres a C++ application which first starts up.
This app is then supposed to invoke a Java class file
which does some processing. Finally the value of one
variable in Java (actually a huge String) is to be made
available back to C++. This could be done thru flat file
wherein the Java outputs the string to the flat file
and on return the C++ program can be made to read the
same flat file to retrieve that string but this would
surely cause some overheads (time factor) reading and
writing files. So I wish to devise some way by means
of which I can return the string value back to the C++
program. Piping of data from one app to another is what I
want to do.
Is there some way by means of which Java can return
back or communicate or pipe back the string back to
C++. How can it be done without using external flat files
or databases.
Thansk,

Hi. We're using bytecode instrumentation in a native jvmti agent to monitor method entry/exit. I'd like to capture method return values and report them upon method exit. I see how to obtain local variables, and am indeed doing this when a method is entered; however, I'm not sure how to get a method's return value.
Thanks for any advice.
-- davidYou will need to do two things to make this work:
1) Change the method that your return instrumentation calls to accept a parameter (the return value).
2) Modify your bytecode instrumentation to call your new function with the return value. -

LOV does not return value to the base page sometimes
Hi,
I have created messageLOV type items. These LOVs do return value to the base page usually. We have a user in Uruguay who is trying to use the page which has the LOVs. He says the LOV takes a long time to return to the main page after he clicks on quick select and also the value does not get populated in the main page.
We have not been facing any such problem here in India. The LOV has been tested rigorously with no issues as such.
Can you please suggest a reason why such a problem is occuring? Expecting your replies soon
Thanks,
PriyaThiyaga, did you read the devguide or the tutorial ?
Can you please give me the inputs about the creation of LOV and it requires how many lov mappings as mandatory?
This is there in the devguideHow to identify the mapping fields of an LOV which is already existing in the base page to reproduce in a similar way and need to do a customization on top of it ?
Open the page XML and you can find the LOV mappings.Tapash -
How can i transfer a field value in the main report to its sub-report?
<p><font face="Arial" size="2">How can i transfer a field value in the main report to its sub-report?</font></p><p><font face="Arial" size="2">Please eloberate with example if possible!</font></p><p><font face="Arial" size="2">Thanks...</font></p><p> </p>
<p>You can do a couple of things - one would be to pass the information using the data linking expert. Right click on the subreport, choose 'Change Subreport Links' and select the field(s) you are wanting to pass to the subreport. CRW will build parameters and a record selection formula for you in the subreport, and if that's what you want, then great. But you can also remove the selection formula from the subreport and work with the parameter fields in the subreport however you would like.</p><p>Alternatively, you can look to passing Shared variables back and forth from the main and subreport. this link talks about the method to do this: http://diamond.businessobjects.com/node/251</p><p> </p>

you have to develop scenario end to end, by creating source data type and target data type(if you have XSD's not required),then use Graphical mapping (message mapping) to map source and target structures.
Search in sdn for one end to end scenario you will understand easily

What return values do the cmd.exe commands return?
I have only begun to use PowerShell which I find way to complex at this time so for me the cmd.exe batch file does much of what I need, but I tried to find a list of the errorlevels returned by each of the commands but I couldn't find it. I found descriptions
of the command here:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc772390(v=ws.10).aspx but they don't give return values.
In particular I was looking for the return value of the find command. I assumed 0 meant found, and 1 meant not-found, but nothing told me that. It could be that 0 only meant the find did not return an error, irrelevant to the finding something or not, when
1 might mean find exited prematurely (such as when using find in a protected directory). I since found that 0 means found and 1 means not found, but what if I needed to plan for how to handle exit codes other than those two?
I'm looking with respect to W7 Pro for return values for all the commands, not just find. I did a search in this forum and "on the net" before I submitted this question, but with more than 108K results just in this forum,
I found I didn't have the time to look through them all. "On the net" gave me some results for specific commands, but not all of them.
So, can someone point me to a list of cmd.exe command return codes for W7?Hi,
Some discussion about return value:
Windows PowerShell Exit Codes
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/powershell/archive/2006/10/14/windows-powershell-exit-codes.aspx
As you can see, it indeed depends who set it.

Can we Return values from Java Bean to Form
Hi All,
I have a Bean area defined on a Form. The Bean Area consists of a Text field which gets populated by path of a file selected using Browse button.
Can I return this path as a parameter from the Java Bean to the form? Is there any function for this?
Regards,
Prathima.If you designed your bean to offer the ability to exact info/data from it, then yes you can get a value from the bean into the form (pl/sql) - using Get_Custom_Property
Refer to the following which is a good example of how to build a bean. Specifically look at page 12 where is shows how to use Get_Custom_Property.
This is NOT an Oracle supported or provided document or web site, but it is a very good example.

The LOV modal window could not return value to the base page
when practicing the "create1" task in tutorial, met an issue.
when create an employee, manageName is a messageLovInput and managerID is a messageTextInput.
The issue is the LOV modal window could not return value to the mangerName, but can return to managerID .
If I remove the data boud porperties of the managerName (the bc4j porperties of view name-EmpFullVO and view attribute-MgrName), the lov works fine.
What is the reason?James I would suggest to read the LOV topic in OAF developers' guide. Lov mappings are responsible for bringing pop up values to base page in LOV.

How do I pass a null value to the reportDocument?
I'm using CR 2008 and VS 2005.
I am using a stored procedure as the datasource for one of my report, which we run using the C# API. The stored procedure is expecting a NULL in certain cases and I find I cannot pass a NULL with my current code:
// Here I get the parameter
// If we are dealing with an empty string or a NULL value, let's give it
// a value of a space so that Crystal's DLLs don't choke.
if ((value.Length == 0) || (value == "NULL"))
value = " ";
arrParams.Add(value);
Object strParam = arrParams<i>;
this.reportDocument1.SetParameterValue(num, strParam);
The stored procedure parameter type is INT so in the report it shows up as NUMBER.
How do I get a NULL value to the stored procedure?
Thanks.See if this does the trick:
Dim crParameterDiscreteValue As New CrystalDecisions.Shared.ParameterDiscreteValue()
crParameterDiscreteValue.Value = Nothing
C# would look something like;
CrystalDecisions.Shared.ParameterDiscreteValue crParameterDiscreteValue;
crParameterDiscreteValue = new CrystalDecisions.Shared.ParameterDiscreteValue();
crParameterDiscreteValue.Value = null;

Report execute time nd how many records will be returned before hitting the "run" option?
Post Author: Prasad15
CA Forum: WebIntelligence Reporting
Is there any way to know how long the report executes and how many records will be returned before hitting the "run" option?
Regards
PrasadTo know if the report is going to return more than 10,000 records, you first have to run the query with a 'select count(1) from ... where ...' (with the same from and where clauses as you normal query). Since this takes about the same time as runnng your report, I wonder if you really gain anything (although formatting may take some time too).
You may simplify the select count(1) query by omitting all the lookup tables that are only needed for formatting. That way your query may run a lot faster. You can put this in your after parameter form trigger. -
State machine custom task workflow how to pass one task field value to the next task field
i am using ItemMetadata.xml to pass value from list to custom task first value its passing the but second value is showing as null
plus how to pass one custom task value to the next custom task
i.e one supervisor approver comments submitted field i want to see on department manager approval custom task which is the next approver from supervisor
ows_firstfield=""
ows_SecondField=""
the above ows fields are from list
in this i am unable to retrive the second value in the task form this is my first query?
second query is that how can we pass one task field value to next approver task field value?
any idea
MCTS,ITILWhat type of workflow is this? IS this Visual Studio or SharePOint designer or third party (K2, Nintex, etc...)? YOu should be able to get ahold of the task that was edited via the correlation token, and then grab any value you want from that
task (wether it be a custom field or a standard worfklow task field).
It would help to know what you are using to build the workflow.
Thanks!
