How to Mass Update Fixed Assets Locations ?

Hi,
I have more than 10,000 Assets that i need to update their Location,
Im not sure if it is possible to update their location, i think we have to transfer them to a new location..
Can you please help me by telling how to do that ?
Is there an API to do this ? if so please give me it's name or script.

Hi,
You can use the FA_TRANSFER_PUB.do_transfer API to transfer the assets from one location to a new one. You will have to use l_asset_dist_tbl(1).location_ccid for the old location and l_asset_dist_tbl(2).location_ccid for the new location.

Hi Joe,
You could use the reclass API : FA_RECLASS_PUB.DO_RECLASS
Based on the new minor category, derive the correct asset category and pass it to this API along with other required parameters.

Depreciation terms are applicable to the entire asset (not for individual transactions). If you want to have different terms, you may create the additions as Sub-asset (Tcode AS11) to the main asset and enter depreciation terms.

First I suggest you add a lot more info. Are you doing this in Crsytal Report Designer or are you referring to one of the SAP applications? If an SAP app then please mark this case as answered and post your question to the SAP forums.
If you are using Crystal Reports then need more info like the version and what those tables are and if you can use a common link?

How to create a Fixed Asset Business Area that is restricted to a ledger

Hello gurus,
I am having trouble creating a Fixed Asset Business Area that will only restrict users to use only one type of ledger in Discoverer Admin. How do you go about this?
I know how to create the business area but not sure how to restrict it.
Any guidance is much appreciated.

Hi,
You can restrict users to using one type of ledger by adding mandatory conditions to the folders in the in the business area. The conditions can be dependent on the user and/or responsibility so that different users/responsibilities have access to different ledgers. These mandatory conditions do not show in the workbook and cannot be changed by the Disco plus/desktop user.

transaction MASS -> Object BUS1001"Material" -> table MARM "Units of Measure for Material", though it is usefull only for changes of conversion factors. Otherwise, it's time for LSMW/BatchInput/Catt, what ever you prefers.

How can we import Fixed asset of the current year ?

Hi ,
in 1272578 note , SAP Support explain that's it's not possible to create fixed asset of the current year( example = acquisition date = 2009-02-01 ) using import , but they gave no workaround .
does it mean that we have to manually create all assets of the current year ? or there is another way ( using DI-API for example ) ?

The fixed asset master data import functionality in SAP Business One is used to import assets of the previous year. If you are to force the importation of current year assets some of them might load but system will not be able to calculate planned depreciation for that year, which will give u problems when u try to run depreciation forcing u to post manual depreciation.
With manual depreciation will not look good on the Fixed Asset Master since it sort of duplicate depreciation ONLY on the Master your report will be fine.
Capturing Current year assets manually will be the safer road.

My assumption is that your customer is using 9.0, is it?
I assume that the reason is because there was a mistake during the implementation, meaning that assets created using the application or using import fixed assets master data from excel are not what the user wanted.
The existing rule is that only assets in status 'new' can be removed, and this is a consistency requirement, both technical and from accountancy point of view.
So if the asset is not in status 'new' , it cannot be removed.
What you can do is cancel all transactions generated for the asset, acquisitions, retirements, etc, starting from the last, transaction, until you cancel the first.
Then you execute again depreciation run, to ensure any automatic posted depreciation is reverted.
This way the asset will remain in the system, but with no value. And you can eneter the new assets that will substitute them.

How can i update an asset in i DVD 09

I have done many many videos using imovie 08 and i dvd 08 as well and every time i added a movie to idvd for the final to burn it, i would go back and end up editing the movie in imovie for one reason or another. When i went back to iDVD to burn it after the edit, it asked if i would like to update the modified asset (being the movie).
I am trying to create a dvd in iDVD 09 and i have created the menu, etc., how i want it, but ended up having to change a few things after i had already added the movie. Is there a way to just update the movie that is already in the iDVD file? or do i have to re-export it and recreate the whole thing. Thank you for your help! this has to be done by thursday, so please respond asap. Thank you all again!!

i actually found another way. you are able to delete the previous asset in iDVD and when you do this, you are able to preserve your dvd menu as you had it before the movie was added. then if you go to media, under movies, there is a list of movies from imovie. you arent able to use them unless you export the movie from imovie though. you have to go to share, media browser then I exported as a large movie file. it worked well. this was after the edit, but i didnt have to change or recreate any of the drop zones in the menu on iDVD after i added it to the movie.
I actually dragged the large movie file from the media browser on top of the previous video file and it just created a sub menu with the updated movie file. i had to reformat the text, but the drop zones and audio for both the "play movie" menu and the "scene selection" menu were still intact.

I've executed mass transaction MMSC_MASS for extending the storage location to 0002 and 0003.
How to exclude these storage location to exclude in MRP run ?
Can it be done anywhere in material master ?
Please throw some idea on this.

Hi,
Storage loc MRP indicator can be maintained in material master - MRP 4 view as shown below. You can maintain the indicator as 1 if you want to exclude the storage loc from MRP.
Check the documentation for the field and proceed.

How to MASS update LC data in BOM's and Routings

I am using SAP APO where I need to use LPP Heuristics. I need to update LC Data. I tried to do it via batch input as I did not find any Function Module. I faced however a problem that I could not overcome.
Initially field Maximum Prod. Length is display only. When I set a value to Length Calculation Method field then it becomes editable but entry is required. In this way it is impossible to update it in one step with the batch input method.
Does anyone know how to overcome it?

I have 40K+ records that were extracted from a parent table into a "temporary table" called NRN_WEIGHTS. Each has a primary key column, ADMIN_CN_FK, and two data columns. SVEXPAND, and NVEXPAND.   ALL the data in this table was extracted from the parent table NRN_ADMIN, and then the NV/SVEXPAND records updated to current values.
Now they want me to update all the parent table records so that they reflect the new values.
Parent table = NRN_ADMIN   primary key is ADMIN_CN
Child table = NRN_WEIGHTS primary key (FK) is ADMIN_CN_FK
So I have to essentially say in some kind of looped structure...
for i in select admin_cn_fk from nrn_weights, update nrn_admin
set nvexpand = (select nvexpand from nrn_weights where admin_cn_fk = i)
svexpand =(select svexpand from nrn_weights where admin_cn_fk = i)
Does that make more sense?
As far as the create table goes, I didn't want to really be specific to this one instance to be honest.   This is something that I will be doing a lot, so I was hoping to approach it from a more generic approach.

Content location mass update at the site level

I am looking for a way to mass update the content location at the site level. Right now, we can do the mass update at the folder level. We have about 80 folders or so. Is there a way we can mass update the starting url at the site level?

If you are mass updating the content location, you need to inspect the following three tables in the ILEARN schema.
Table Columns Description
content_server host, physical_directory Content Server Definition
rco starting_url Self Explanatory
host_adapter adapter_path CMI Adapter
You might not have to change all of them, if you are only changing the path and not the host.

Material Account Assignment Group, in Sales Order Mass Update

Sd Experts,
We just went live, our consultant updated Account assignment group at the material level but did not updated existing materials. When we caught the problem and updated exisisting materials there were some existing orders already created. Which now I am getting an account determination error due to this field being empty at the material level.
We have some sales orders that I need to update but they are just too many, currently I have been fixing them thru VF02, for to the material and update manually.
Does anyone has any idea how to mass update this field for all existing orders, to update "Account Assignment Group" field automatically

In Mass transaction choose object type as #BUS2032,after executing in the next screen from the tables choose#Sales Order Item Data, and from the fields choose#AcctAssgGr (MASSSDHE)-MASSSDHEAD_S-KTGRD, now execute to find fields Sales document and Sales Document item , here load all the Sales Orders for which the change is needed along with the items for which the changes are needed execute again to find the next screen with Sales Documet, Sales Document item and Account assignment which needed to be changed,now select the entire block enter new values in the Account assignment box in the above, click on the 'Carry out MAss change button ' and then save, it will take some time basing the change tobe carried and issues a log as to how many documents were changed
