How to migrate the BIW 3.0B query

Dear All,
Is there any option to migrate the BIW 3.0B query to BI 7. We are recreating the cubes and ODS in BI 7. But for there queries any option is there to migrate them to BI 7??
Pls let me know the procedure.
Thanks
Sathiya

Hi Sathiya,
Pls find some SAP notes abt Query Migration:
<u><b>BEx Query Designer 3.x & SAP Net Weaver 2004s</b></u>
1..All existing 3.x queries can be edited with the SAP NetWeaver 2004s BEx Query Designer without further manual adaptation.
2.In general there is no migration and there is no new GUID or new objects in the database tables.
3.After editing with the new tool queries cannot be edited with the 3.x BEx Query Designer anymore.
4.The system logic allows you to still edit other BW3.5 queries in the BW3.5 Query Designer even if they are re-using elements of a query that has been edited with the NW2004s BEx Query Designer as long as the reusable elements use no 2004s features (i.e. planning settings, new aggregation on formulas, variables with multiple default values).
5.Queries created or adapted with the SAP NetWeaver 2004s BEx Query Designer will still appear in the Open Dialog of the 3.x tool but they cannot be opened anymore.
6.For those scenarios where customers do not want to use the SAP NetWeaver 2004s BEx Query Designer, SAP ships a 3.x version of the BEx Query Designer in addition to the SAP NetWeaver 2004s BEx Query Designer.
7.New capabilities are only implemented in the SAP NetWeaver 2004s Query Designer.
8.Query Views that were created before will still run after a query has been changed with the new BEx Query Designer.
9.In general, query views do not need to be migrated.
<u><b>BEx Analyzer 3.x & SAP NetWeaver 2004s</b></u>
1.Existing BW3.x queries and workbooks can be opened and executed with the SAP NetWeaver 2004s BEx Analyzer.
2.Standard workbooks are automatically upgraded, workbooks with customer coding will be upgraded with a best guess strategy.
3.Manual adaptation might be necessary to ensure the proper behavior of the workbook. (e.g. customer Visual Basic has to be manually adapted).
4After saving in the new tool, workbooks cannot be used in the 3.x BEx Analyzer. They will no longer appear in the Open dialog.
5.For those scenarios where customers do not want to use the SAP NetWeaver 2004s BEx Analyzer, SAP ships a 3.x version of the BEx Analyzer in addition to the SAP NetWeaver 2004s BEx Analyzer.
6.After migration, the old version of a workbook is still available in the old 3.x BEx Analyzer. Migration can be done as many times as need. Old workbooks are not deleted.
7.New capabilities are only implemented in the SAP NetWeaver 2004s BEx Analyzer
8.GIS functionality is only available via BEx Web (Web Application Designer).
The new BEx Analyzer gives access to InfoProviders, queries and query views but not to query views created with the new BEx Web Analyzer. On the other hand, query views created with the BEx Analyzer are available within the new BEx Web Analyzer.
9.Several Features of the new BEx Query Designer and BEx Web (e.g. in the area of exceptions and conditions) are not available in the new BEx Analyzer.
SAP does not recommend using NetWeaver 2004s queries and query views in the old 3.5 BEx Analyzer.
*Hope this helps**

         Basis
Alignment of SAP BW objects within your SAP BW system landscape     Check and, where required, re-align SAP BW Objects and developments in your SAP BW system landscape (Development, Quality Assurance and Production).
SAP BW Object differences can impact the quality of testing in the Development and Test environment and can lead to change management issues.
     This check is to minimize risk and ensure productive objects are being tested prior to the Production upgrade.
Where alignment issues exist and realignment is not possible, alternative testing plans should be devised.
         Basis/BW
Confirm all developments are deployed.     Ensure that all SAP BW developments are deployed or they are to be re-developed/tested after the upgrade.
     In the DEV system, all SAP BW development transports should be released (i.e. transport created and released) and imported to all downstream systems (i.e. QAS and PRD systems).
For SAP BW developments not already collected in the transport collector, a decision must be made:
Deploy the developments or wait until the upgrade has completed to deploy.
o     Development to be deployed should be collected, released, and imported into the QAS and PRD systems.
o     Developments that should be deployed after the upgrade should be re-tested/re-developed after the upgrade.
     In the QAS or PRD systems, ensure that all SAP BW development transports have been imported prior to the upgrade.

    Pre-upgrade Process:
Download required BI 7.0 support package Stack for inclusion in the upgrade     Determine the equivalent support package level of the source SAP BW release and the target SAP BW release.
     There is a minimum requirement that you upgrade to at least the equivalent support package level on the target SAP BW release so that you do not lose functionality, corrections, and data.
     It is recommended to upgrade to the latest version of all support packages during the upgrade via the upgradeu2019s support package binding functionality.
     BI 7.0 Support Packages are delivered via SAP NetWeaver u201904 Support Package stacks (SP-Stacks). It is not recommended to partially apply some of the SP-Stacksu2019 individual support packages. You should apply all of the SP-Stacks support packages at once.
For more information on the SP-Stacks and SAP NetWeaver SP-Stacks, please see the SAP service marketplace alias SP-Stacks (http://service.sap.com/sp-stacks)
     You should also review, download, and bind in support packages for all add-on components that are installed on SAP BW and will be upgraded during the SAP BW upgrade (e.g. SEM-BW, ST-PI, etc)

Apply latest Support Package tool patch     Apply latest SPAM patch before executing PREPARE     Basis
Validate the SAP BW (ABAP) Data Dictionary and the Database Data Dictionary for consistency     Check Database consistency
         Transaction DB02:
o     Execute ABAP SAP_UPDATE_DBDIFF and re-execute DB02 check. This gives a truer view of the SAP BW objects in DB02.
o     Check missing database objects (indices, tables, etc)
o     Missing indices may identify erred data loads or process problems
Tip: Missing indices on InfoCubes can be restored by RSRV or ABAP SAP_INFOCUBE_INDEXES_REPAIR
Note: check for running data loads before executing a repair!
    o     Check DDIC/DB consistency
     Verify database objects and consistency
(e.g. SAPDBA check for offline data files)
         BW
Remove unnecessary SAP BW temporary database objects     Delete all SAP BW temporary database objects:
     Execute routine housekeeping ABAP SAP_DROP_TMPTABLES.
     This reduces the numbers of database objects that need to be copied during the upgrade.
     Note: take care not to delete objects that are in use as this will cause queries, compressions, etc to terminate.
         BW
Validate your SAP BW Objects for correctness prior to your upgrade     Using the SAP BW Analysis Tool (transaction RSRV), perform extensive tests on all important SAP BW Objects to ensure their correctness prior to the upgrade.
Note: this test should be repeatable so you can re-validate after the upgrade!
     Ensure that any inconsistencies are identified and corrected
     RSRV has a number of extensive tests and if all checks are executed will consume a large amount of time. Multiple tests can be performed in parallel.
     Tip: Some corrections in development can be deployed to other systems via transport in advance of the next upgrade.
         BW
Ensure DB Statistics are up to date prior to the upgrade          Check DB statistics for all tables.
Tables without statistics, especially system tables, can seriously impact upgrade runtimes.
     Check DB statistics for missing Indexes for InfoCubes and Aggregates
o     User transaction RSRV to check      BW
Check SAP BW Support Package status     Check the status of all support packages (via transaction SPAM)

Check InfoObject status          Check for revised (modified) InfoObjects that have not been activated.
All InfoObjects should be active or saved (not activate):
    o     Check all inactive InfoObjects:
    Transaction RSD1 (Edit InfoObjects),
click on u201CAll InfoObjectsu201D radio button and click the u201CDisplayu201D button.
Modified InfoObjects are denoted by yellow triangles!
o     Determine if revision should be activated or removed.
         'Reorgu2019 or u2018Repairu2019 all InfoObjects
This checks and repairs any discrepancies in the InfoObject definition and structures. It is common to have obsolete DDIC and table entries for InfoObjects after multiple upgrades and definition changes. These obsolete entries normally do not effect normal SAP BW operations.

I need to call a Bapi_objcl_change, with import parameter and a table as an input. I have done this, in BLS. I have set the table input in the
form of xml. In BLS, I get the output(the value gets change in SAP R3, what i have given in BLS).  But if i set the same xml structure  in
query template, I didn't get the output. Table input parameter does not take that xml source.  How to set the table input in Query template?
    can anyone help me?
    Regards,
    Hemalatha

    Hema,
You probably need to XML encode the data so that it will pass properly and then xmldecode() it to set the BAPI input value.

  • HI All, How to improve the performance in given query?

    HI All,
How to improve the performance in given query?
    Query is..
    PARAMETERS : p_vbeln type lips-vbeln.
    DATA : par_charg TYPE LIPS-CHARG,
    par_werks TYPE LIPS-WERKS,
    PAR_MBLNR TYPE MSEG-MBLNR .
    SELECT SINGLE charg
    werks
    INTO (par_charg, par_werks)
    FROM lips
    WHERE vbeln = p_vbeln.
    IF par_charg IS NOT INITIAL.
    SELECT single max( mblnr )
    INTO par_mblnr
    FROM mseg
    WHERE bwart EQ '101'
AND werks EQ par_werks (index on werks only)
    AND charg EQ par_charg.
    ENDIF.
    Regards
    Steve

    Hi steve,
Can't you use the material in your query (and not only the batch)?
I am assuming your system has an index MSEG~M by MANDT + MATNR + WERKS (+ other fields). Depending on your system (how many different materials you have), this will probably speed up the query considerably.
Anyway, in our system we ended up by creating an index by CHARG, but leave as a last option, only if selecting by matnr and werks is not good enough for your scenario.
    Hope this helps,

  • Please help me how to improve the performance of this query further.

    Hi All,
Please help me how to improve the performance of this query further.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
this is not your first SQL tuning request in this community -- you really should learn how to obtain performance diagnostics.
The information you posted is not nearly enough to even start troubleshooting the query -- you haven't specified elapsed time, I/O, or the actual number of rows the query returns.
The only piece of information we have is saying that your query executes within a second. If we believe this, then your query doesn't need tuning. If we don't, then we throw it away
    and we're left with nothing.
Start by reading this blog post: Kyle Hailey &amp;raquo; Power of DISPLAY_CURSOR
and applying this knowledge to your case.

please follow my simple way to find the queryid of the query.
Go to open qeury from BEx, select the query for which you wish to see the queryid, copy the query using CtrlC and paste the same to notepad CtrlP.

  • How to Migrate the Existing Content

    Hi every1,
I want to know how to Migrate the existing content in Interwoven to new Content Management system
    Thanks & Regards
    Vasu

    Hi Vasu,
as said, I don't know Interwoven in detail. But if you would get the Interwoven Business Package, maybe you could get some insight how to access Interwoven content per API (at least, Interwoven <i>has</i> a Java API, see http://blogs.ittoolbox.com/km/content/archives/005150.asp for example; but I would ask Interwoven or within some Interwoven forum for the details, and on this site for the details of SAP KM API... ).
    Hope it helps

  • How to migrate the Hyperion Enterprise to HFM 11.1.1.3

    Dear All,
Can any one know how to migrate the Hyperion Enterprise to HFM 11?
    What are the pre requisits?
    Thanks in Advance....

    Hi,
I assume the decision of changing software is due to some specific requirements regarding the information for the actual customer. So the question should probably focus on an analyse of what kind of information the new system should cover and how to provide it, rather than having a focus around a technical solution. If you just migrate to another software you will not take in to consideration the new specific advantages in that new software.
    Good Luck
