How to open a 2nd WD View in a new window?

Hi,
my WD Component has a button which opens a new view. I would like to open this view in a new window.
I tried to link two views of two windows with plugs, but it seems like I'm only able to navigate between views of the same window....
Up to now my solution was to open the view in a pop up window. Now its neccessary to open the view in a new browser window.
For the background; with click on the button a pdf is generated (Interactive Forms). It is ok to display the generated pdf in adobe acrobat reader directly as well.
Any suggestions how to handle this?
Thanks in advance,
Tan

if your purpose is to display a interactive form as external window then you have to understand that number of button clicks would result into number of external windows and number of sessions to backend as well. You can't see which external window is related to which data in your application, you cannot close it from your parent window. User has to do that explicitly.
I would consider the following.
Embed the display view into a separate window.
use create_window method to show the window .

  • Can you open a second jsp page as popup/new window?

    Hi all gurus!
    I have a question regarding popups/new windows in an iview application. Instead of starting with a question let me instead describe what I want to do.
    We have a jsp page that presents a search and then the search result in a table where one column is "clickable". When the user clicks a cell a server round trip retreives data specific for that cell value. This is standard functionality and already fixed so here is what differes: we want a new jsp window to open like a popup, with the data retreived from the server round trip and at the same time the first page with the table shall still be there so that you just can close the popup and click the next cell which creates a new server round trip and a new jsp popup and so on.
    My solution which doesn't work yet: In application "a" I have a JavaScript for the clicked cell which opens another iview application "b" in a new window, by window.open("navurl_to_the_iview"), and that works fine.
    At the same time the value of the clicked cell is written to the data bean and the bean is put in the http session (since component session does not reach between applications).
    The second iview "b" retreives the bean from the http session and fills the jsp page with data.
    Here is now the problem: no data is displayed and this because the iview "b" retreives the bean BEFORE iview "a" has been able to put the bean/value into the http session. How do I know this for sure? Simple, if I do a refresh of iview "b" the value is displayed.
    I could do a JavaScript that recursively checks if the value in the bean is null or not but then I have to do a method that retreives the bean from the http session each time.
    This could work but I wonder if this is the most simple solution. So my question for you gents and madams is: do you know of a more simple solution?
    Best regards

    Hi you all.
    In this case the solution was to pass the id in the url to the second iview and let that iview use the id to retreive data from the backend system.
    But I still think the question is interesting, if it's possible to open a second jsp window after a server round trip and still have the first one open.
    All the best

  • Opening a new view in a new window on click of a table row entry.

    Hi Guys,
    How to open a new View of a same application in a new window (just like a pop up) on a click of a Table Row entry?
    I am using NWDS 7.0 version. So please suggest acccorrdingly.

    Hi Nikesh,
    first of all you will have to declare use of onLeadSelect event handler for your table (note that it will only be triggered when a lead selection occurs not a multiselection).
    Also, you can build at design time a View and a Window (for example, PopupWin) in your WebDynpro Component, and embed the view into the window.
    In your code for onLeadSelect function, you can use something like this to pop up the window.
    public void onActionRowSelection(com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.api.IWDCustomEvent wdEvent )
        //@@begin onActionSeleccionTabla(ServerEvent)
        IWDWindowManager windowManager = wdComponentAPI.getWindowManager();
        IWDWindowInfo windowInfo = wdComponentAPI.getComponentInfo().findInWindows("PopupWin");
        IWDWindow window = windowManager.createModalWindow(windowInfo);
        window.setWindowPosition(WDWindowPos.CENTER);
        window.setWindowSize(new WDCssSize(450, WDWindowUnitOfLength.PX) , WDCssSize.UNDEFINED);
        // Store handle ti window in context attribute to able to close it later
        wdContext.currentContextElement().setPopup(window);
        window.show();
        //@@end
    Hope it helps,
    David

  • Open a view in a new window

    Is it possible to open a view (or a Web Dynpro Window) (from another one, both under the same controller) in a new browser window? If it is, how to do it? If it isn't, how can I accomplish my target, Openning a Web Dynpro Window (View) in a new browser window?

    Rodrigo,
    There are actually only 2 options:
    -- external browser window via URL (separate WD application is started)
    -- internal (non-movable non-resizable) modal window inside main application window.

  • How to Open Two Excel Files in Multiple Monitors in Windows 7

    How to open two excel files in two excel windows using multiple monitors in Windows 7.
    Currently it opens multiple files on top of each other on the same one monitor.
    I found this article in a blog it says
    "The snap feature that you are looking for will not work unless you open two instances of Excel. This is because Excel Unlike Word is not a True SDI Application. Microsoft is aware of the Issue however there is no resolution to the problem but the workaround"

    If you are working almost the entire day in front of your computer at your office with lots of Excel Sheets and Word, then probably you might be working with a
    dual monitor or may be even more than that. Studies have shown that having an additional monitor increases the productivity by 20 to 30 percent (Source: NY Times)
    But some applications like MS Office Excel, even though you open multiple files, they are all from the same instance of the application. So if you want to compare two
    Excel
    files, then you may not be able to have it in two
    separate monitors as the files are loaded using the same instance of Excel. If you move one
    Excel
    file to the other window, the other Excel files are also moved to the other window.
    So how to have two separate Excel files or other application side by side in dual monitors?
    Option A:
    In Excel 2003, go to Tools -> Options ->
    General tab.
    Make sure the option, ‘Ignore other applications’ is checked. Now all the Excel files will be opened as separate instance and you can move the Excel files individually across the monitors.
    In Excel 2007, Click the Office button ->
    Excel Options -> Advanced.
    Under General, check ‘Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange’.
    or
    As this method forces each Excel file as a separate instance, the memory consumption will be more. If you don’t want too many memory consumption then you can open only two instances (see
    Option B) and manage wisely to view in both the monitors.
    Note: If you are having issues like Excel opens without displaying a workbook, then you may have to
    uncheck this option. (See Microsoft Help for more details on this). You can use option B in this case. I have this option checked and I have not faced any issue yet.
    Option B:
    They key here is, the application has to be loaded as separate instances. Lets say you have opened an Excel file in
    Monitor 1 and you want to open the next excel file in Monitor 2. You can usually open another instance of Excel by browsing through the
    Start Menu -> Programs -> Microsoft Office ->
    Excel. Make sure this newly opened Excel file is the last Excel file you had viewed and then double click on the Excel file that you wanted to open. This will force the Excel to
    open
    in the second instance of Excel. Now you can move these
    two excel files separately across windows or monitors.
    This may be little cumbersome way to open new instances of Excel every time. The easy solution would be to keep these links in the
    quick links near the Start button. So, every time you want to open a new instance of the application, you can just use those quick links.
    hope work thanks

  • How to open a single WD Component in a popup window?

    Hi,
    I want to open a WD component in a popup window but don't know how. I have searched this forum without a result.
    The following situation:
    DC1 (main DC) with a button to open the popup
    DC2 (popup DC)
    How can I open DC2 in a popup window without destroying DC1 in a way like
    if (!DC1.hasActiveComponent()) {
    mainR_Usage.createComponent("my.comp.DC2","my.comp/comp~DC2~wd");
    and of course how can I destroy the DC2-popup from DC1?
    The general problem is not to open a popup window inside DC1. The problem is to open DC2 as a popup!
    Thanks ahead

    Hi Bernd,
    You can try this:
    1.Create a context attribute of the type IWDWindow in your view/Component Controller of DC2, say 'PopupWindow'
    2.Create a method in your DC2, say
    openPopup()
    IWDWindowInfo winInfo = (IWDWindowInfo)wdComponentAPI.getComponentInfo().findInWindows("DC2Window");
           IWDWindow popup= (IWDWindow)wdComponentAPI.getWindowManager().createModalWindow(winInfo);
           wdContext.currentPopupElement().setPopupAttribute(popup);
           popup.setTitle("Hello, this is DC2");
           popup.setWindowSize(600,500);
           popup.setWindowPosition(100,100);
           popup.show();
                           +// Save WindowIsnstance in Context
         wdContext.currentContextElement().setPopUpWindow(window);+
    3.Expose this method in your Interface controller so that it is available to be called by DC1
    4.in your DC1 you can call this method
          if((!DC1.hasActiveComponent())
         wdThis.wdGetDC2ComponentUsage().createComponent();
         wdThis.wdGetDC2Interface().openPopup();
    5.This should open the popup window from DC2.
    6. You can have a close button or any other event on the view contained in this window itself. On click of this button you can retrive the window instance stored in the context and destroy it.
    e.g we have an action assigned to a Close button. this will be in the view from the window you are trying to open as a popup.
    onActionCloseWindow()
             IWDWindow  window = wdContext.currentContextElement().getPopUpWindow();
             window.destroyInstance();
    this should close yourr popup window.

  • How to group more than one view in a single window?

    Hi,
    I want to group three or more views in a single window.
    I need a element, which is similar to VIEW SET in webdynpro for JAVA.
    how to do it?

    Hi,
    In wd-abap the concept of viewset is not used instead the viewContainerUIelement is used to achieve the same.
    create a main view say v_main in that add ui control viewContainerUiElement
    create a another view say v1.
    go the the window .. embed this view v_main to the window , u can see then below the view the control viewContainerUielement , in that u can add the view v1 inside this container .  so if u create more containers inside the v_main ,then  u can display more view inside this and the plugs can be created and fired as same as in java.
    Hope this will help u .

    Hello !!!
    Is there a solution to the below problem.
    Say "view1", "view2" are embeded in "window1". Now create a new window "window2" and embed the existing view "view1" into "window2". Now show the "window2" as a popup when a button in "view2" is pressed. I am using the following code
    IWDWindowManager winMgr=wdComponentAPI.getWindowManager();
    IWDWindowInfo Win2Inffo=wdComponentAPI.getComponentInfo().findInWindows("window2");
    IWDWindow Win2=winMgr.createWindow(Win2Inffo,true);

    Hello jasu,
    For confirmation purposes you can use standart method from dynpro

  • How to open the PDF form in the same browser window

    Hi All,
       I have created a webdynpro application to display a PDF form.The form is displayed in the new window.I want it to be displayed in the same window.
    How to make the PDF form to be displayed in the same window
    Thanks
    Ponnusamy P

    Hi Ponnusamy
    Earlier there was <b>_self</b>  as the target property for LinkToURLUIElement, but it is not available anymore,instead we need to use exit plugs
    there is one way to do
    1) Create a viewset of type Grid in your window
    2) Create a new view with iFrame added to it
    3) Specify number of columns/rows as per your requirement
    to the viewset  Suppose 1 Column and 2 Rows
    4) In the second row embed  your view which has iframe
    Using Plugs[Inbound and Outbound] you can view your PDF in the same window.
    This is not solution but this is one of the way to achieve your need

  • How to open the link in new firefox window for web desktop based application? Or how to open the mail/website/rss link in new firefox window

    I am using the firefox 3.6. My problem is that I am using the web desktop and few web desktop based application directly opens link. If I click on rss link than it opens in same window, so no longer access to web desktop. I want to open any kind of link in new window instead of same window. I have tired to change the value of browser.link.open_newwindow, browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction but doesn't work. Also gone through the https://developer.mozilla.org/en/window.open but not sure where to do this in web desktop based application or firefox where we connect the web desktop?
    Is there any way to open the link every time in new firefox window?

    Hi Joseph,
    the HTMLB link object misses the support for onClientClick through the tag lib, see hbj:link without onClientClick ? and OnClientClick Event for Link HTMLB Component for similiar problems and workarounds.
    With this workaround, you can call for example an AbstractPortalComponent, implement doOnNodeReady (with an empty doContent method) and return the PDF, settings the content type on the http before etc.
    Hope it helps
